Chapter Fifteen
Three days before
Ellesmere's POV
Healing took a very long time. I became a liability of some kind to the Avengers. It made me disappointed in myself. These dudes and dudettes were supposed to be afraid of me but now we were more like bread and butter.
I knew they didn't mind taking care of me until results of the attack in Salem were out.
Wanda and i didn't quite get along all the time but Sticky Fingers did good a bit. Widow gave me a cold stare everytime, Banner never looked my way, Shell head was my partner in crime, Steve always checked up on me and was the only one who would smile at me occasionally, Clint was hardly around me, same with Thor and Sam and Vision. . .well, it didn't really matter what he did.
I had a lot of trouble bending over and standing up straight so i was kinda in the middle of both. Helen Cho came to the Tower often to run some tests on me. Life was sorely perfect for me.
I hid my lightning sword/pen underneath the large box on top of the huge wardrobe in the corner of my room . The wardrobe was practically empty and so was the box but both were strangely heavy.
I climbed onto a small footstool then stretching forward, i reached for the sword. The box tipped a little, knocking my thumb. I sucked in a painful breath then lost my balance. I fell with a loud thud on the floor. The box had moved forward a little too much. It tipped again and fell towards me.
I used my hands to shield my face waiting for the box to come crashing down on me but it never did.
"Careful with that!" A familiar deep voice said. I stood up immediately.
It was Thor.
Holy Mackerel.
I was dumbstruck at first but immediately regained composure. I didn't even hear him come in, he'd practically snuck up on me.
"I, uh , i just wanted to get something" I said with all the confidence i had. You're starting to lose your cool Miss. A voice in my head said.
"You should avoid stressing yourself out. Reaching up like that could cause your wounds to reopen." He said placing the box back and in the process, knocked my pen out of its hiding place. Yeah, i know i called it a pen. . .Because it's a pen.
He bent down and picked it up, surveying it closely. My heart beat quickened wildly. If the room had been any quieter, he'd have heard it thump like an elephant walking on snow.
"such fine markings on something so small!" He exclaimed still rotating the pen and studying it carefully.
Please don't ask where it came from, please don't ask where it came from. I pleaded inside my head.
"Where did this come from?" Oh Jimminy Crickets!!.
"Uh, I won it at a fair in London. That was a long time ago." I lied swallowing hard and prayed he wouldn't click on it.
"Quite odd. It's very sturdy for a normal pen. I can guarantee i've seen these markings before "He said looking closely at it.
I need a distraction. Drama, Elles, Drama!! I suddenly jerked and fell to my knees.
He let go of the pen to hold me.
"Are you alright?" He asked leading me slowly towards my bed.
I feigned pain. "I just felt a sharp sting, then I felt a bit dizzy too.". I didn't want him to let go.
He was supposed to know who i was. He was supposed to be fathering me, if that's even a real word.
There was a part of me that wanted to scream out who i was, another part wanted to keep shut and obey mom. There was an internal duel in me. I had to figure out a compromise. Quickly!
He helped me sit then as if it never happened, his left hand raked through my hair. I pretended not to notice but boy, did i feel fulfilled by that single act .
"You want anything?" He asked squatting down in front of me. His blue eyes pierced through mine. The connection i felt was so strong, i wondered if he felt it too. I couldn't speak for a while.
"Is something wrong? "He asked again noticing how distant my attention was.
I shook my head quickly "No, I'm fine. "
But he read me like a book. "Are you uncomfortable living here? With the people you know are your enemies?"
His voice was low now, almost fatherly, or i was the one that thought so. I felt so overwhelmed. This was too much. Out with it already. A voice yelled inside me.
"It's really not that bad staying here. You've all been supportive of me even though we're enemies. I'm just troubled within myself. Family issues, that's all. " Dang it, Elles. Why the F-word now?
"I thought you were an orphan" He said standing up to sit next to me. His cologne washed over me like smoke from a large fire. "You seemed like someone who is totally alone."
"Not entirely. I have a mom and a friend." I said wanting to end the conversation but he pushed further.
"What about your father? "He asked with so much concern in his tone. Now there was the sixty four thousand dollar question.
"Uhh, i don't know how to say this but. . .My father doesn't know who i am but i know who he is. That's rather strange, isn't it? " I asked wanting to hear his opinion now.
"I see. Why don't you go to him, make him know who you are? "He suggested.
"I wish it was that easy. But you see, my mother doesn't want that. I think they're not on good terms with each other. She wants me to stay away from him." I lied. I knew Thor and Jane were on good terms, just too busy to make time for each other. I was sure Jane loved Thor very much but i couldn't say the same for Thor yet.
He tilted his head, probably because the idea was stupid. "Whatever argument occur between your parents shouldn't be a reason to keep you away from your father. What if he would be pleased to know you? Have you ever thought about that? "
His questions made me think he was referring to himself. What if he wanted to know who i really was? No, he doesn't. My mother's voice rang in my head.
"I have but i don't think this is the right time." I said.
He nodded then stood up. I couldn't understand the sadness that stirred in me as he made to leave.
"You take care of yourself and keep away from reaching too high" He said then gave me a small smile and this time, I smiled back.
He shut the door quietly. I ran to pick up my pen. Holding it to my chest, i breathed in and out slowly. It was so hard having to not spill the beans. I'd won this time . Well, there'd be other times . The voice said again.
"Well, until then. "I said quietly then went back to my bed.

Attention!! Attention!! Attention!!
Okay, now that I have your attention, Just wanted y'all to know that this chapter is an extra.
Meaning that this wasn't a part of the story but I decided to make this little father-daughter moment so things wouldn't be so weird.
I think Ellesmere deserves a little chat with Papa.
**Squeaky laugh**
