Chapter 1: Magic Bullet.

No one's POV

"In other news, local authorities remain perplexed by the animal attacks plaguing Beacon Hills." The radio says.

Kate hits something while driving. "Nice driving, Kate. Nice. No! No! No! Come on! Come on!"

"Mom?" A girl from the back seat says, she's probably about 16.

"Just a problem with the car Lanie. Go back to sleep." Kate says.

The young girl falls back asleep.

Kate gets out her gun, knowing exactly what she hit.

She shoots a couple times at the thing running. It gets shot and goes down, hiding behind something.

"Get in." A man says pulling ip in a SUV.

"Not even "hello," "nice to see you"?" Kate says sarcastically.

"All I've got at the moment is "please put the assault rifle away before someone notices." Chris says.

"That's the brother I love. Chris, there were two of 'em." Kate says. She puts hers and Melanie's stuff in Chris' car. Chris carries a sleeping Melanie to the backseat of the car.

"The Alpha?" Chris asks getting back in the car.

"I don't know, but one of them tried to kill me - could have hurt Melanie." Kate says

"One of them is gonna lead us to the other. He can't do that if he's dead." Chris says.

"Well, I can't help kill either of them if one of them kills me first." Kate says.

"How long will it take?" Chris asks her.

"Give him 48 hours - If that." Kate says.

Melanie's POV

I wake up in a bed, with my best friend/cousin sitting next to me.

"Ally!" I cheer and give her a big hug.

"Melly!" She says hugging me back. "How are you?!" She asks.

"Tired but good. How have you been?, it's been like a year since I last saw you." I ask her.

"I've been good. Kate already got you enrolled in school and your starting today. I'll drive you." She says.

"Okay!" I say then get out of bed and over to one my suitcases.

"I don't see you for a year, and you turn into a fricken runway model?" I hear my mom say. I look up and see her, in the doorway.

"Oh - " Ally starts when my mom hugs her.

"Look at you! Oh! Hate you." Mom says.

"I haven't even showered yet." Allison says.

"Sweetheart, you're a knockout." I say smirking.

"In fact, I hope you have the boys knocking each other's teeth out for your attention." Mom says.

"I kind of have one." Allison says.

"You kind of have one? Well, you should kind of have a million." Mom says to her when we walk to moms room.

"Need some help unpacking?" She asks mom, about to open one of moms bags.

"No, not that one." Mom says grabbing her wrist, tightly. "Oh. See? You turn out beautiful, and I end up with this kung fu death grip. Sorry, sweetie. I didn't mean to be so rough." She says, letting go of Allison's wrist.

"No worries. Hey, is everything okay with your car?" Allison asks.

"Uh, yeah. I just needed a jumpstart, that's all." Mom says from inside her closet.

"A jumpstart?" Allison asks, slightly comfused.

After a minute, I walk back to my room. I take out my outfit for today. I chose a white v-neck sort of shirt, with my black skirt that has white polka dots on it. I grab a pair of white heels and a red maroon leather jacket. I walk into the bathroom and take a shower.

I get out, dry off, brush my teeth and get dressed. I curl my hair a little and do my makeup. I grab my school bag and my black purse, that has my phone, wallet, keys, gum and a few other things.

I walk downstairs and see aunt Victoria in the kitchen.

"Aunt Victoria!" I say. She looks at me and smiles, well kinda. She gives me a quick hug.

"You've grown so much!" She says.

I smile. "It was only a year since I last saw you." I say.

"So are you waiting for Allison?" She asks.

"Yes. She said she'd give me a ride." I say.

"She should be down soon." She says. I nod.

After a minute Allison comes downstairs, my mom following. Allison says goodbye to her mother and I say bye to mine, then we leave.

On the drive there she is telling me about her friends and stuff. "Lydia will love you. But I have to warn you. She can be a bit... to handle. She's nice once you get to know her though. And she'll probably fall in love with your outfit, so she'll love you." Allison says.

"So tell me about this boy." I say.

She blushes. "His names Scott. He plays lacrosse and he's really cute." She says.

"That's it? Nothing else to say about your lover boy?" I ask her.

"I like him, alot and I can't explain it. I just really like him. Not like how it was with any other person. Scott's just... Scott." She says smiling like crazy.

"He have any cute friends?" I ask.

She laughs. "His best friend, Stiles is kinda cute, not my type but cute." She says.

"Stiles? Cool name." I mutter to myself.

We get to school and go to the front office. I have like three or four of my classes are with Allison.

My locker was next to her's which is awesome. As I am putting my books and stuff into my locker I hear the sound of heels clicking on the ground.

"I love your outfit!" I hear a voice say. I turn to a girl with strawberry blond hair and wearing heels. Lydia.

"Thanks." I say to her smiling.

"What's your name?" She asks.

"Melanie Argent." I say. "But most people call me Mel or Lanie." I add.

She nods. "Wait your Allison's cousin?" She asks.

"Yep." I say. She smiles.

"Well you are my other new best friend." She says.

"Sweet." I say.

We talk for a couple minutes, mostly about fashion. Until Ally walks up.

"Hey." Me and Lydia say in sync.

"I see you two met." She says. I nod. The bell rings.

"I gotta get to class. I'll see you two later." I say. They both nod and I walk to class.

I walk to my next class. Chemistry. And from what I heard the teacher is a dick.

I walk into the class, about two minutes late but whatever. The teacher looks over at the door annoyed, when I walk in.

"And you are?" He asks, rudely.

"Melanie Argent. I'm new." I say. He looks at me then around to the class. I look around and see a boy with buzz cut hair sitting behind a boy with brown hair, who could be described as a kinda puppy sorta. The guy with the buzz cut hair has his eyes widened, looking at me shocked.

"Sit down next to Mr. Stilinski." The teacher says. The buzz cut haired guy raises his hand.

I shyly walk towards the seat next to Mr. Stilinski.

I siy down and take out my notebook. I look at buzz cut. "So your Mr. Stilinski?" I ask, smirking.

He looks at me shocked. "I- ye- yeah." He says. I smile. "I'm Stiles." He adds.

"Wait your Scott's best friend?" I ask. All the sudden the floppy haired puppy kid turns around.

"I'm Scott." He says.

I raise an eyebrow. "Okay I approve." I say. He looks at me confused. "You and Allison. She told me you guys were dating." I say.

"Oh ye- yeah, right. So your Allison's cousin?" Scott asks.

"That would explain the last name." I say. "Me and my mom moved here last night. We are staying with Allison." I say.

"Your mom?" Scott asks.

"Yeah, my mom Kate." I say.

"Oh cool." He says then turns around, continuing on his work.

"So Stiles, is there anything fun to do in this town?" I ask, turning and looking at him, smiling.

"I uh there's a bowling, ice skating and a couple other things, to do." Stiles replies.

"Cool." I say then turn back and do my work. I can feel Stiles' eyes on me. I smirk to myself, continuing my work.

"Scott's coming over? Tonight?" Lydia asks Allison as we walk down the hall.

"We're just studying together." Allison replies. I raise an eyebrow at her.

""Just studying" never ends with just studying. It's like - Getting into a hot tub - Somebody eventually cops a feel." Lydia says. I nod.

"Well, so what are you saying?" Allison asks. Oh god.

"I'm just saying, you know, make sure he covers up." Allison gives her a confused look.

"Hello, snow white! Do it with him with a condom." I say to Allison.

"Are you kidding? After one date?" Allison asks.

"Don't be a total prude. Give him a little taste." Lydia says.

"Well, I - I mean, how much is "a little taste"?" Allison asks. Oh god, she really likes him.

"Oh, God. You really like him, don't you?" Lydia asks.

"Well - He's just different. When I first moved here, I had a plan - no boyfriends till college. I just move too much. But - Then I met him, and - He was different. I - I don't know. Can't explain it." Allison says.

"I can. It's your brain flooding with phenylethylamine." Lydia says. I give her a confused look.

"What?" Allison asks.

"I'll tell you what to do. When's he coming over?" Lydia asks.

"Right after school." Allison replies.

"Hmm." Lydia says.

After our talk with Allison. I walk out of the school. Allison is hanging with Scott so I'm gonna walk around town, see my way around this place.

After about two hours if not more. I get home. I get there to see Mom, Uncle Chris, Allison and Scott on the front porch.

"Hey... what's going on?" I ask, quite confused.

I see Uncle Chris glaring at Scott.

"Oh, come on, Chris. Really? They were making out in the garage, not shooting amateur porn. You, with the adorable brown eyes, drop your bike. You're staying for dinner." Mom says. I smile.

"Do you eat meat?" Uncle Chris asks.

"You don't mind?" Scottasks.

"Actually, no. Give us a chance to get to know each other." Uncle Chris says.

And now we are at the table. It's awkward. Like really awkward.

"Would you like something to drink besides water, Scott?" Aunt Victoria asks Scott.

"Oh - No, I'm good. Thanks." Scott says.

"We can get you some beer?" Uncle Chris offers. He's testing Scott. Poor little Scott. Uncle Chris has always been protective of Allison. And since I don't have a dad he has been filling in that father like- figure, so he's protective of me too.

"N - no, thanks." Scott stutters. Well he's getting a little nervous.

"Shot of Tequila?" Uncle Chris asks. I smirk. I might need a couple of those to get through this dinner.

"Dad. Really?" Ally asks.

"You don't drink, Scott?" Allison's dad asks.

"I'm not old enough to." Scott says. Oh that doesn't stop most people.

"That doesn't seem to stop many teenagers." Aunt Victoria says.

"No, but it should." Scott replies.

"Good answer. Total lie, but well played, Scott. You may yet survive the night." I say. Mom smirks at me.

"You ever smoke pot?" Uncle Chris asks.

"Okay, changing the channel to something a little less conservative. So, Scott, uh - Allison tells us you're on the lacrosse team. I'm sorry. I don't know anything about that. How do you play?" Mom asks him.

"Um, well, you know hockey? It's a lot like that, only, um, played on grass instead of ice." Scott replies.

"Hockey on grass - Is called field hockey." Uncle Chris says. Okay then.

"Oh. Yeah." Scott says.

"So it's like field hockey, except the sticks have nets." Allison says.

"Exactly." Scott says.

"And can you slap check like in hockey?" I ask Scott.

"Um - Yeah. But it's only the, uh, the gloves and the sticks." Scott says

"Sounds violent. I like it." Mom says. I smirk, she loves alot of violent things.

"Scott's amazing too. Dad came with me to the first game. Wasn't he good?" Allison asks her dad.

"He was fine." Uncle Chris says. He still looks upset about this whole dinner.

"He scored the last shot, the winning shot." Ally says.

"True, but he didn't score at all until the last few minutes." My uncle says.

"His last shot ripped a hole through the goalie's net. It was incredible." Allison says.

"Damn." I mutter. Mom looks at me, hearing what I said. I innocently smile.

"Well, I think the goalie was probably playing with a defective stick, so - " Uncle Chris says.

"You know, on second thought, um, I think I'll take that shot of Tequila." Scott says. I laugh, knowing it was a joke.

"You were kidding, right?" Uncle Chris asks him.

"Yeah." Scott says. Well it got awkward, even more so.

Okay then.

"Hey, um, I should get going. Um, thanks for dinner." Scott says after a while. Scott stands.

"Oh, no, no, no, no, no. You have to stay for dessert. I wanna know more about you. Sit down." Mom says.

"Okay." Scott says then sits down.

"Allison was just telling us that you work for a veterinarian." My aunt says.

"I told them how you put the cast on the dog I hit." Ally says.

"Yeah." Scott says.

"What does your boss think of the animal attacks? Any theories?" Uncle Chris asks.

"Everyone was just saying it's a mountain lion." Scott says.

"It'd have to be a pretty large mountain lion." I say.

"What do you think, Scott?" Aunt Victoria asks him.

"I don't know. We usually get cats and dogs at the vet. Nothing that vicious." He says.

"Never had to deal with a rabid dog? Oh. I grew up with a lot of dogs. I saw one get rabies from a bat. It was transferred through the bite. You know, people think that a rabid dog just suddenly goes mad. It's a lot more gradual. First stage is subtle changes in behavior - They're restless, morose. It's the second stage that people know - the furious phase. That's when they attack. And we're talking any moving object. Did you know that a caged rabid dog will break its own teeth, trying to chew through the bars? It'll even rear back and snap its own spine. Can you imagine the amount of force it would take to do that? It's a complete character reversal. This harmless animal - Turned into a perfectly vicious killer. And it all started with that one bite." Uncle Chris explains. I feel like he wasn't just talkingabout a rabid dog, I feel as if he was talking about something more than just that

"But it died, didn't it?" Allison asks.

"Yes, because your grandfather shot it." Aunt Victoria says. Grandfather? Wait Gerard. Mine and Allison's grandpa. I haven't seen him since we bothe were like three.

"Because he wanted to put it out of its misery." Allison says.

"Because it was too dangerous. Something that out of control is better off dead." Uncle Chris says. And then it got quiet.

As Scott and Allison were at the door saying goodbye, mom comes downstairs. She looks, not upset, but questionable.

"Hey mom?" I ask.

"Yeah?" She replies.

"What's wrong?" I ask her.

"Nothing. I have to talk to Scott at the moment." She says the walks towards the boy and Allison. I follow.

"Wait a second, guys." Mom says walking into the hall where Scott and Allison are.

"What is it?" Ally asks.

"Uh, I have to ask Scott something." Mom says to both of them. They look at her confused.

"Me?" Scott asks, more scared than nervous.

"Yeah, you." Mom says to him. With a smirk.

"Okay." Scott says nervous.

"Uh. What'd you take from my bag?" Mom asks.

"What?" Scott asks confused. I feel like he's hiding something too and not just my uncle.

"My bag. What'd you take from it? Do you need me to repeat the question, maybe enunciate more clearly?" Mom asks Scott.

Chris: What are you talking about?" My uncle asks walkinginto the hall.

"My bag was open in the guest room, and when I left it was shut. And Scott comes in to use the bathroom, he leaves, my bag's open." Mom explains.

"He didn't take -" Allison starts.

Mom cuts her off. "Something was taken from my bag. Now, look - I hate to be the accuser here, Scott, because I really do love those adorable brown eyes, but I don't know if you're a klepto, if you're curious, or - or if you're just stupid. But answer the question. What did you take?" Mom asks him.

"Nothing. I swear." Scott says. He's lying, and I'm gonna find out why.

"You don't mind proving it, do you?" Mom asks.

"Are you serious?" Ally asks.

"How about you show us what's in your pockets?" Mom asks him.

"Dad?" Allison asks looking to her dad for help.

"Come on, Scott. Prove me wrong." Mom says.

"Uh, I'll prove you wrong. Uh, it wasn't Scott going through your bags. It was me." Allison says.

"You?" Mom asks her. I look at Allison confused.

"Mm - hmm, me." Allison says as she takes something from her pocket, holding it up. My eyes widen in shock of what she's holding. And so does everyone else's. Even Scott's. Allison holds up the condom. Okay then.

Scott leaves, and Allison is now most likely grounded. I'm now up in my room, because it's late and I'm tired. I feel like my uncle is hiding something from me and Ally, and I think my aunt and mom knows too. Scott's hiding something else from Ally, and I think Stiles knows too. I've only known him a day and I know he's hiding something. I just know, I'll find out what my family is hiding and hopefully what Scott and Stiles are hiding.

I soon fall asleep thinking about how my life will be.

Okay, hey guys. Okay, so how do you want her to find out about the supernatural world? I know I put in the prologue that she found out when her mom, a.k.a Kate, shows her Derek, but if you guys want it to be a different time, just tell me.
