Chapter 7: SCP-2273 "Major Alexei Belitrov, of the Red Army's 22nd AID"
(A/N): Couldn't fit the whole name into the title
Here we see you getting ready to work and you head to work and we see you head to Dr. Buck's office.
(Y/N): "Alright Dr. Buck, I'm ready to talk to the SCP."
Dr. Buck: "Alright follow me (Y/N) and I'll take you to SCP-2273. When we get there, use the appropriate language since you are multilingual."
You then follow Dr. Buck to SCP-2273's cell and you go into it and you see a giant humanoid that looks like a military soldier. He's SCP-2273 aka Alexei Belitrov from the observation window of the observation room.
(Y/N): *activates the microphone**in russian*"Excuse me, can you hear me?"
Alexei: *in german*"Your accent is atrocious. Yes, I can hear you. Let's speak in a language I know you'll understand."
(Y/N): "Oh."*in german*"Ah, yes, all right. I'm told you answer to the name Alexei Belitrov. Is this true?"
Alexei: "Let's quit the pleasantries. I am a prisoner-of-war and you are my interrogator. You killed my men, tortured me, and left me to die in the wilderness. Have you not done enough?"
(Y/N): "Excuse me?"
Alexei: "You heard me. Don't act like you don't know what was done to me before I was brought here. My men died because I surrendered. I see now that it was a mistake. They should have died like warriors, fighting for the Motherland, not gunned down like animals. I thought I could end the war for them, give them much-deserved peace. Instead, they are dead, likely not even buried but left to rot, and I am here, being interrogated by some skinny in an American Concentration Camp."
(Y/N): "Uh do you know where you are Alexei?"
Alexei: "No and it does not matter. You will not break me, filthy dog."
(Y/N): "Hey I'm just gonna leave you a document for you to read."
You then send the Level 1 Researcher general debrief into Alexei's cell and then you leave the room. Sometime later, we saw you at the breakroom and you were eating lunch as we saw Dr. Collingwood walks to you.
Dr. Collingwood: "So how was the interview?"
(Y/N): "Well he thinks he's in an interrogation room, good thing I had a Level 1 Researcher general debrief packet with me. So I gave it to him to read, I'll give him some time to process. He's a soldier that ended up in a world not like his."
Dr. Collingwood: "That's why you're in charge of SCPs like Alexei."
(Y/N): "Thanks doc."
Dr. Collingwood: "I wish there were more employees like you."
Sometime later, we see you return back to Alexei's containment cell back to the observation room.
(Y/N): "Hey Alexei, how have you been?"
Alexei: "I understand now. You are not dogs, you are crows."
(Y/N): "Crows?"
Alexei: "It is Red Army Officer's slang for... your people. You do not fight in the war. Instead, you steal weapons from both sides for... whatever purposes. Containment, I suppose. I guess this means I am no longer in the place I came from, da?"
(Y/N): "That's right bud. I want to get to know you better so we can get you home."
Alexei: "Do not lie to me, Autistic crow. You are going to keep me in this cell forever. You and I know this."
(Y/N): "Yeah I don't know why I said that. But you are not alone here in this facility. Help us and we'll help you."
Alexei: "Please, just let me be for a while."
(Y/N): "Okay big guy."
Sometime later, we see you get back to the observation room to Alexei's containment cell and you see him.
(Y/N): "Alexei, you needed me for something?"
Alexei: "Yes. I have thought about your offer, and I would like to talk. I don't know beyond all doubt that you're not working for the Americans, so I won't tell you anything that you wouldn't already know. This is fair, da?"
(Y/N): "Yeah fair is fair. So you've been mentioning about a war, tell me about it."
Alexei: "It is the Second Great Patriotic War, the War to End the World. Several years ago, when I was only a child, the Americans launched a nuclear attack against the Motherland and her allies. We retaliated in full force. Very few people were left alive, and much of the surface was rendered unusable for farming, or even just living. That is why I am in this armor. I couldn't survive very long on the surface without it."
(Y/N): "Okay then, so what about the armor?"
Alexei: "The armor takes many years to grow. I was only a boy when my parents volunteered me for the program, and getting attached to the armor was likely the most painful thing I have ever felt in my life. But it was worth it because I am that much more of a warrior for my country. Everything it feels, I feel. Everything it sees, I see. Everything it smells or tastes or hears, I smell and taste and hear. Everything it thinks, I think."
(Y/N): "Your armor thinks?"
Alexei: "Yes, but not how you and I think. It identifies targets, weapons, ammunition, supplies, friends and foes, objectives to be captured, terrain features, hazards. It helps me to formulate battle plans when I am acting in my capacity as an officer, and helps me to fight war when I am acting in my capacity as a soldier. You already see how it helps me speak to my men and my superiors from great distances. It lets me hear the enemy from a great distance, as well. This armor has served me well."
(Y/N): "Gotcha, so what's with the wounds on your arms and shoulders?"
Alexei: "When you found me, I had just been captured by the Americans. They had forcibly removed my weapons and my supply pack, creating these wounds. They did this with all my surviving men. Then, they identified me as the commanding officer and took me aside. They shot my men shortly afterwards. I thought you were the same Americans who had captured me... I still don't trust you, but I don't believe I have a choice."
(Y/N): "So can you tell me how you got here?"
Alexei: "I don't know how I ended up here; all I remember is a bright flash of light, then all the Americans were gone. There were trees that hadn't been there before. But I was very deep in American territory, and I didn't believe they would dispose of an officer such as myself so easily. So, I began sending encrypted distress codes and wandered the forest until your men found me. Is there anything else you would like to know?"
(Y/N): "Nope."
Alexei: "Thank you, tell me what your name is?"
(Y/N): "(Y/N) Cranston."
Alexei: "Thank you (Y/N) Cranston."
Sometime later, we see you picking out some movies for Alexei to watch as we see Dr. Buck walked by and saw you.
Dr. Buck: "I see that you made SCP-2273 more comfortable here at the foundation. Nice work."
(Y/N): "Thanks mom."
Everyone in the room then looks at you as you see them looking at you.
(Y/N): "What?"
Dr. Bright: "You just called Dr. Buck mom."
Dr. Buck: "Do you see me as a mother figure?"
(Y/N): "Well after what happened to my parents, you are the closest thing to a mom to me."
Dr. Buck: "I see, I'm glad you feel that way son."
(Y/N): "Thanks."
Dr. Bright: "What did you learn about Alexei?"
(Y/N): "He grew into the suit he's been wearing and he came from a war that brings the end of the world and he said that the suit was made by the engineers, whoever those guys are."
Dr. Bright: "Well do another interview with the big guy."
(Y/N): "Sure thing."
Sometime later, we see you enter the observation room and you see Alexei sitting in the corner of the cell and he sees you.
Alexei: "Hello (Y/N), is there more you would like to discuss?"
(Y/N): "Yep."
Alexei: "Before we continue, may I make a request?"
(Y/N): "Shoot."
Alexei: "You wouldn't happen to have recordings of the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, would you?"
(Y/N): "I'll see what I can find."
Alexei: "Thank you, now what is it that you wanted to talk about?"
(Y/N): "You said about the guys who made your suit, the engineers, who are they?"
Alexei: "They cannot live unprotected on the surface like you and me, but I don't think they have ever built armor for themselves."
(Y/N): "Why didn't they?"
Alexei: "I am not sure. I think it is because only soldiers wear armor and it is not their war."
(Y/N): "Well why aren't they fighting the good fight?"
Alexei: "Do you not have engineers here, in this world? They are very much not like us. They fear the sun and have coats like beasts, but are smarter than any man. Normal or Autistic. Crow, dog, or Soviet Patriot, any man you may ever meet. They have made the modern war possible for both sides."
(Y/N): "Oh they're a neutral third party, can you tell me more about them?"
Alexei: "They weren't truly known to Man until the years of the Great War and the Revolution. The French found them in buried cities where the Western Allies were digging their trenches. Eventually, they were made to build weapons for the war, by both sides. This war led to the Revolution, and to the end of Germany. I can see by the look in your eyes that you know something of what I'm talking about. This is good. Perhaps your world and mine aren't so different, then, da?"
(Y/N): "Well there is not a worldwide war on my end as far as I know. Anyways, I got some movies for you to watch, it's about a man named Steve Rogers who became the hero Captain America. I got the German dub so you can understand the movie, kinda weird if they dub it in German since the first movie takes place in WW2."
Alexei: "I will not watch a movie about a dog!"
(Y/N): "Would you just watch it, you might relate to Captain America."
You then use a drawer to give the movies to Alexei as he then picks up the movies.
(Y/N): "Just give them a chance and you'll see that you're not the only one on the short end of the stick. I'll send someone to get you a TV."
You then leave the room as Alexei then looks at the movies about Captain America. Sometime later, we see you come back to the observation room and you see that Alexei has finished watching the movies.
(Y/N): "Hey Alexei, how are you feeling?"
Alexei: "Well enough (Y/N). The movies you gave me have been interesting. I can relate myself to Captain America, we are soldiers of war that have lost friends and been betrayed by Americans and tried to do his best to save his friends but failed to do so."
(Y/N): "Do you want more movies to watch and some books to read for your transition here in your new home?"
Alexei: "Yes (Y/N), thank you."
(Y/N): "Is there anything else you want to talk about?"
Alexei: "Yes (Y/N) there is. I've been having trouble sleeping at night. I know you don't have technicians here, but I'm afraid my armor might be malfunctioning. If you could somehow remedy that, it would be appreciated."
(Y/N): "Malfunctioning, how?"
Alexei: "Well, it keeps dragging up old memories as I'm trying to sleep. That's one of its functions; it lets me remember details I'd otherwise forget, in order to keep me safe while on the front. But now, it's showing me scenes from the war, things I... don't need anymore. Actually, forget it, Doctor. This is a problem for a technician, and you don't have any here. I'll learn to cope."
(Y/N): "I don't think that's your armor. Want to talk about it?"
Alexei: "I told you where I was before your men found me, da? I — I see my men's faces, staring up at me from the dirt, (Y/N). Asking me why I didn't keep them safe. Why was I allowed to live while they had to die? I trained alongside those men for years before they put us back on the surface, since we were all young children. We were brothers. And I gave the order to surrender, and got — got them killed. I should have died with them. I am no better than the American dogs who shot them. I don't want to feel this way anymore. Please make this stop.*Alexei rose from his seat and approached the interview window*"I was only trying to keep them safe, (Y/N). Why couldn't I have died with them?"
(Y/N): "Look buddy, I get it. You're not the only person who lost family, my brother killed my parents and me and my sister have to make a run for it. My brother became a criminal kingpin while under the guise of a Police Chief. If anyone understands what you're going through it's me, Gary was the reason why me and my sister have to split up and stay in hiding from his reach."
Alexei: "Gray.......I heard that name before."*clenched his fist and slams it on the glass and make a small hole on it*"That filthy dog was the one who tricked me and my men to surrender so that they could put us down like animals! He has committed many crimes during the war, in fact he's the reason why the war started in the first place!"
(Y/N): "Woah, he did bad things there too? When I was at Site-13, my brother got Emerson to experiment on me and kill me. Just so you know Site-13 came into our reality and I discovered an alternate me got tortured and killed."
Alexei: "That man must pay for the crimes he has committed."
(Y/N): "I wish that was possible, everytime someone tries to get evidence on what he did they end up 6 feet under or go missing. Anyways I'll be going, it was nice helping you out, getting you used to being here."
Sometime later, we see you heading to Dr. Buck's office and you gave her your report on Alexei.
(Y/N): "I've cheered up Alexei with some movies and you won't believe how the war started in his world. My brother was the root cause of that."
Dr. Buck: "I see."
(Y/N): "What's worse, he killed Alexei's comrades right in front of him because he used their surrender to his advantage and left Alexei to starve to death. That's what he always does, he always wins a game even if it means he has to cheat."
Dr. Buck: "The more I learn about your brother the more I despise him."
(Y/N): "Yeah, so what other SCP am I gonna be working on next?"
Dr. Buck: "I can't believe I'm gonna say this but its-"
We then see Dr. Bright burst into the room and held up his amulet.
Dr. Bright: "Me!"
Dr. Buck: "........Yes, Dr. Bright."
