World TOH-2304-??: The Blighted Isles AU Branches out!
An incident in TLCN-1591 leads to MB-Félix meeting the Belos of the Blighted Isles AU, although after connecting somehow, they must come face to face with Belos' personal nemesis, Gwenyth Blight. How will they be able to do so with Acheelmon and Tiggan still out there? Meanwhile, how are the Dimension Keepers going to find Sandayuu and the rest? All of it reaches its climax as the world's timeline creates a whole new branch; one borne from an unexpected bond.
"Well, isn't this QUITE the treat?" A voice sang out of nowhere, making Belos and Félix jump up as a familiar person skipped into the field, the Abominations surrounding them. "Not one, but TWO humans from different worlds, one even with my little plaything~"
Félix noticed Belos' expression contort into an unadulterated rage, and deduced that this was the person who caused all his pain and suffering. That thought made him seethe a bit as well, for some reason. Huh, he wondered why. He was really connecting with this man, wasn't he?
"Can you fight?" He looked at Belos, who nodded while getting his palisman out (the one he had stolen from Gwenyth the day they met, one that had signified his resolve.) "I'm not defenseless. Pupa, you ready?"
Pupa chirped as she manifested, a beautiful monarch butterfly that pulsated with power. (She had reacted to Belos somehow. Even though he hated witches, he couldn't find it in himself to hate this child. [Had his path been darker, had he not realised, Pupa would have been the first palisman to be...])
Félix smirked. What a coincidence. Well then...
He got out his own brooch, standing back to back with the man he had just met, who he had just connected with, and said, "You better not hold me back, Monsieur Philip!"
"I could say the same to you!" Belos grinned back. "Let us get rid of these slime monsters for good!"
"No doubt!" he cut his thumb again, feeling the energy wash over him.
Weirdly enough, it was like he could feel his father with him now, whispering with a proud smile, I'm so proud of you, my boy.
Father, please watch over me. He closed his eyes, and Flairgos slid into battle stance, his fan spreading out into a plantain one while Philip swung his staff. To protect everyone, not just the humans, but also the good witches, he would defeat the queen and take her down!
(The small shift in mindset was all it took to change both of them. They were prepared to change for the better, not just for themselves but for others, their loved ones.
Moving forward despite their pain... A miracle was unveiling before the multiverse's very eyes.
His family grinned, their souls finally passing on, knowing he would avenge them once and for all.)
[Centuriomon watches this, eyes wide in shock. Never in the history of their multiverse had this...!
Expectations are subverted, the world turns once more, but in a different direction. A whole new story, unfurling in front of them, made possible by a friendship, no a possible found family dynamic, transcending time and space. Making fate bend to THEIR whims.
Perhaps... The name Fate Changer fits these two. Taking their lives into THEIR hands.])
The two moved as one, pouncing at the same time. Flairgos blasted flames all around, disintegrating the things around him while scratching at some of them to quicken the burning process. Philip used his staff to blast more fire and swatted the ones that tried to get close, burning them up if they even so as tried to touch Pupa.
From a hill not too far away, Tiggan's eyes stared at the two. Their bond had somehow become strong despite only knowing each other for a while. The desire to sacrifice one's self for the greater good... Oh, boy, did they understand. More than anyone, they wanted to protect their loved ones.
That feeling... They could see it. It was resonating powerfully within him. Maybe, maybe if they synced up, they could take down-
"FOUND YoU!!!!"
They paled. The Kwami tried to escape, but Acheelmon had had enough as she grabbed them with her hands. "Finally... Finally, we have a Miraculous... Finally, we are a step closer to our goal..."
Tiggan squirmed, terror filling their mind. No no no no no no no no no, they HAD to escape!!!!! "Please let me go!"
"No... I made the mistake of doing that. I should have grabbed you first. Then maybe... Master wouldn't be suffering the side effects of possessing her counterpart..." Her grip grew tighter. "We WILL change the system. We WILL make the Anomalice no longer anomalies. Even if we have to rip apart the seams of reality itself..."
"You don't know what you're saying! Even if you do that, will you be truly happy!?" they snapped back.
"It will make all Anomalice no longer suffer!" Acheelmon roared. "The first Creator saw people like Pascatmon as glitches! So everything that originated from her became known as Anomalice, even though they're not!"
"But it won't save anyone!" They argued. "And that'll make you just LIKE Pascatmon!"
"Like her?! Don't make me laugh! She's just like Haavik, Belos, and Monarch! Every iteration of those people are evil incarnate and SHOULD DIE!!!!"
"You're playing the judge which is NOT your burden!" They glared back. "You don't have any right t-"
Acheelmon punched them, eyes burning. How... HOW DARE THEY?! "YOU ****ING *****! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO SUFFER BECAUSE THE SYSTEM REJECTS YOU! TO RETAIN SOME SORT OF ****ING NORMALCY, THEY DO **** LIKE THIS! NO MATTER WHAT WORLD WE'RE IN, THEY'RE GOING TO REJECT US! WE'RE NOTHING BUT OUTSIDERS EVEN TO OUR OWN HOME WORLDS! SO WHY THE **** SHOULD WE CARE WHAT THEY THINK!?"
"Because it doesn't define who YOU are!" they answered, getting up despite how painful it was. "You're still you, and no label can take that away from you! If you let the system define who you are, you're the one who lost! As long as you hold onto who you are! You WILL make it!"
Something clicked right there. It... Suddenly made sense.
Acheelmon's eyes widened.
"If you keep on letting the world define you right now, then what was the point of breaking free in the first place?" They asked. "Why not be YOU regardless? There are people who love you, who care for you. If you care for each other equally, well... I think that's something worth fighting for don't you think? Even if the system rejects you, rejects ME at times I still stand proud because the system doesn't define any of us. It just gives fancy names that the system itself can't live up to. Creators? Keepers? All of those are labels WE interpret in our own way. So why listen to what the majority see the label as? YOU should see it the way YOU define it, not how others define it. Although being open to opinions is a good thing at least."
Acheelmon stared at the snake-owl for a long while, making them squirm a bit as they backed away. They... Did not like this. At all.
".... You... Have a point." Acheelmon's words surprised the Kwami.
The leopard paused, realising that they... Had been trying to change what others saw the label as, when really, they could have hung onto their definition and lived happily on their own. After breaking free of the seal, they could have-
Lived happily? What a joke. You know they would have hunted you down regardless. The system would send people to kill you, pinning you as the bad guys. Remember the issue with Perfectio?
She froze. The voice was right. They had thought THEY were the problem. The Codes had left them unable to defend themselves. No one... No one would willingly care for them.
Instead of feeling rage, though, she just felt... Tired.
Lying down on the ground, the Digimon... Let out tears. She couldn't take it anymore. It hurt too badly. She just wanted the pain to stop. She just wanted to be happy. Why wouldn't anyone leave them be? Why couldn't they be given their peace?
Tiggan gently landed on her head. They could only feel sympathy towards these poor people who had been hurt for too long. They couldn't do much, but...
They began to hum a quiet song under their breath. One that had been stuck in their mind for a while, since they woke up.
https://youtu.be/n2PnlZvLUUg
The lullaby soothed the Digimon, giving her rest at long last as she closed her eyes, a soothing song lifting something in her.
It's okay, isn't it, Mona? For me to find a way for all of us to live happily, but.... Not with you? She asked her head.
Of course, Acchan. Let's work hard together. Mona had never wanted them to suffer. Her melodious voice was clear.
(There is a reason why she is the first evolution Pascatmon unlocked when the former human was her partner.)
Then this is... Goodbye for now... Tears fell again. She doesn't want to... Say goodbye to her partner, her master.
Acchan, we WILL meet again. In another life, maybe in different forms. But all of us... Will eventually find happiness, in our own way. Regardless of the result, things WILL get better. It's why I fight. It's why YOU should fight for this new ideal you found. I'm sure that if we keep at it... We'll find the answer and achieve our goal.
But... What if the Codes...
If they take over me... Then I will trust the Dimension Keepers will take me down. As you yourself said, they are the best ones to end it all.
Mona... I don't want you to die...
Even if I do, you'll remember me. I know that.
I... I promise I'll do my best, Mona.
That's the Acchan I know and love.
The blue goop fell from her eyes. What a liberating feeling... To finally be free of those accursed codes..
"Thank you.... So much..." She whispered to Tiggan.
The Kwami smiled. "No problem. But we do need to help out those two who're fighting the butts off. You in or not?"
"I... Of course. People like that lady..." She could sense it. Gwenyth Blight oozed of the things Pascatmon had; arrogance, sadism, selfishness... She had to be taken down at all costs.
"Then let's go. No time to waste."
"Ah," she said while getting up, and Tiggan instinctively hung on as she bounded into the forest.
"Sandayuu! Connex, Shiift!"
"Chiyume... Senpai?..." Sandayuu mumbled to the green haired who had rushed into the prison cell. "How did you?..."
"We managed to summon everyone out to fight against the guards and then they led us to Solar and Komadillo. Once we interrogated the guards, they pointed us here." He got a knife out and cut through the vines. "You really are as bad as Jinpei some days. All three of you are."
Shiift pouted as Gangsan freed them from the small prison they had been in. "To be fair, normally it's multiple people against one Digimon and those battles are normally close calls. The best thing to do was unification."
"Yeah, well, Sandayuu got bruised cause of it. How did this even happen?" Tsuchiyume carried Sandayuu piggyback style.
"It's a side effect. He is seriously lucky it didn't get as bad as losing his existence," Skyla spoke while walking in with the others and Wuliang.
"Wuliang?" Sandayuu was confused. How did he...?
"He's the one who helped us find you here. Being an Aura Adept sure is handy huh?" Gangsan asked the other.
Wuliang shrugged. "I guess. But we still need to deal with Acheelm-"
DING!
He paused. Wait what? That usually sounded out after the Anomalice was defeated... But everyone was here, so who...?
"What happened in the other world before this one? How did you end up here?" He turned to the other.
Bluepon frowned a bit. "About that..."
Solarmon whirred her gears, signing in Morse, 'There was someone who teleported us. Acheelmon called her Master, and reality shifted again.'
Wuliang's eyes widened. "What?"
"We got sent through portals after I delivered the final move," Sandayuu said. "I don't know what happened, but..."
The SRS member immediately looked at Glasssweeper, who gave a grim nod, and opened up his phone, narrowing down the anomalous energy to-
"The forest. Something's going on there," he said. "We have to go. NOW!"
"Then we'll need to teleport there. Sandayuu, hang on tight," Tsuchiyume instructed
"I-I will." His grip on the older male tightened.
Jinpei frowned a bit, but chose to ignore it for now as they teleported to the location, just as Gwenyth pinned Belos down.
The rebel grunted while she laughed. "Your brother couldn't see the truth even if it slapped him in the face. He even left you allllllll alone, didn't he?"
"S-Shut up!" He snarled, but Félix could tell the other was hurt. Those sky-blue eyes spoke the words he couldn't say aloud; knowing that she was right.
He was all alone. He was not wanted. He was not loved.
.... Before, that was.
He didn't know why, but Flairgos forced himself up, even as his bones ached, screaming for rest.
He refused to stop. He had seen his conviction. He was NOT about to give up right here!
"You are NOT alone! You still have a fighting chance! The people you're fighting for... Remember them! Use the good memories to fuel your resolve! Then take that TWAT down!" He roared.
Obron's eyes widened. He did not truly know what the word 'twat' meant, but he could make a guess of its equivalent, and regardless, the words, the message hit him.
He closed his eyes. Their laughter rings out in his ears, their smiles flash.
Sure, some witches took his family away from him but...
He remembers his travels. The sights he had seen. The beauty of the Boiling Isles unfurls before his very eyes.
The magic of the land, how beautiful it was. Igniting the spark in him that he didn't know existed until now.
Magic... was only good or bad depending on how it was used.
He opened his eyes again, and the (former) witch hunter finally looked up at the queen, eyes burning with defiance. "I am NOT about to lose this battle!"
Gwenyth stumbled back in shock, unable to comprehend this creature. Wasn't he just about to yield!? How did that other human incite him so much!?
Tiggan grinned. They knew it was time.
(After all, it started with three weirdos. Three people out of place in the world.
Were these three not? The two who bonded and made a miracle happen despite how impossible it was meant to be, and the one who broke out of her own chains to help her dearest friend? Who defied odds and defeated the monster within them?)
"Acheelmon, I hope you're ready for this!" They told the Digimon, an almost feral grin forming on their face.
"Ready for what exactly?" Her brows furrowed.
Tiggan smirked, a glow emanating off them as three balls of lights, similar to the light spell, entered Flairgos, Belos and Acheelmon out of nowhere.
"Wha-" A bright light, Fractal codes forming around her body.
She felt... peaceful. As if the world was finally making sense again.
Like it was just her and her family again...
She shed a small tear. She... She was finally back. "Tiggan... thank you for... bringing me home, away from those Codes."
Tiggan smiled. "No problem."
Gangsan's mouth opened in shock as they saw this. What the **** was going on right now!?
As the light subsided, the trees near the former Fragmented Code Digimon now gone, a witch Digimon stepped out into the clearing. A purple witch hat hung lopsidedly over messy grey hair, moss green eyes over black sclera brightly glowing while a skull mask shaped like Belos' mask as the Emperor covered her face. An owl perched on her shoulder, its red feathers resembling Flapjack, as he stared at Belos with his one eye.
(It reminded him of his brother's palisman. The red cardinal one.)
Her outfit was a simple white cloak that went down to her knees, a purple collared shirt normally worn by royalty, a red skirt with combat boots, claws attached to the shoes, and a spotted spellbook floating beside her.
"I am the one who starts and ends magic. My name is... PrimorHekatmon," she spoke softly; a sharp contrast to Acheelmon's impatient and prideful self. "This is my companion, Xrosmon."
"Xros...mon?" Gangsan gaped.
Wuliang was rubbing his eyes. "Pleco, I must be dreaming right?"
"If you're dreaming, I am too, Wuliang, and we RARELY ever sleep at the same time."
"... Fair."
The owl smiled, looking at Belos. At least one of them has turned from the dark path set upon him.
The aforementioned man was staring at his staff, which had somehow shrunk into a cane, while Félix gave an eloquent, "What the ****." upon seeing a cane with a phoenix and dog standing side by side engraved into its handle manifest in front of him.
"Hi! I'm Tiggan, the Owl House Miraculous! Though I'm pretty sure you don't know what that means!" The Kwami cheerfully greeted the two in their heads.
"What the- WHO ARE YOU!?" Félix looked around, paranoia settling in as he swatted at the air with his cane. This was the first time a Miraculous actually SPOKE! Normally the spiritual energy was just that, energy. Never had one spoken to him before!!
Meanwhile, Belos was a lot calmer about this. "Are you here to help us fight Gwenyth?"
"Yep! I think it's time we took her down ten pegs!" The Kwami confirmed. "Just say, 'Tiggan, bring me home!' Of course, the choice is still yours but I know you there have had a change of heart, and I respect that a lot. Those out of place in this multiverse tend to find each other in a way."
"Those out of place, huh?..." Belos remarked quietly, looking at Félix with a grin. (Xrosmon gave a lopsided smile at that. He was truly growing, wasn't he?) "Well, I cannot deny the facts, now can I? We can ask more questions later, Félix, no, Flairgos, was it not?"
"You have a point there." The other laughed, and as PrimorHekatmon joined them, the two slid into battle stances. "I'm ready for this!"
"No time to waste, then!"
"Tiggan, bring me home!" The two chorused.
Flairgos' mask became golden as it covered his entire face, the red and orange on his outfit now becoming more pronounced by seeping through the entire outfit in streaks and lines. An orange and purple spellbook appeared in his right hand as he announced, "The hidden antihero is reborn! I am Phoegos!"
Meanwhile, Belos gained a moss green mask that covered his face, his cane gaining green horns eerily similar to canon Belos' sludge form, and his hair was put up in a bun as he now wore a bright white collared shirt, brown pants, purple shoes, and red gloves while a spellbook with a red cardinal and a palistrom tree growing behind it appeared floating on his left.
He smiled underneath the mask. "The tyrant king sheds his cocoon and becomes his own person, leaving years of trauma and evil behind him, slowly but surely! I am... Oflairon!"
But the wicked smile had never left Gwenyth's face. Even with all of these developments, she still had an ace up her sleeve. "Ohhh? So you finally gained the power you sought? Then you will turn out exactly like me!"
Oflairon gave her one of the most determined looks, no, THE most determined look she had ever seen in a rebel. "No, I will not. I yearn for power, sure, but now, I won't go insane from it, because I am doing this to heal, to end the years I spent wallowing in the darkness. I REFUSE to back down now!"
"And together, we WILL take you down!" PrimorHekatmon spoke.
"We will NOT stop until you are finally taken down for good!" Phoegos added. "You are just like my uncle. I will not allow another tyrant to have their way!"
"For the people you killed. For the Papillon family, who you turned into wooden puppets and threw into the furnace and laughed at their screams of pain even as they couldn't escape... for the Whittebane couple, who you strangled to death with palistrom wood... I WILL TAKE YOU DOWN NO MATTER WHAT!" He roared.
"Then what about your brother?" Her words made him freeze as she snapped, showing Caleb and Evelyn being held hostage by the Abominations. "Surely you would want to kill your brother for abandoning you, right?"
"That is so cowardly it makes me puke," Phoegos snarled with disgust. "I would never endanger or hold people hostage just to win a match."
"Surely she's scared. Otherwise she wouldn't play such dirty tricks," PrimorHekatmon agreed. Even they had standards.
But Oflairon stood his ground.
No, perhaps he made eye contact with the bird on the Digimon's shoulder.
(It was as if he WAS Flapjack. Evelyn's palisman Caleb had named himself. Even if he was on the wrong side, like Caleb, he CARED.
He didn't know why or how, but... he was thankful.)
And then turned to Gwenyth. "Maybe you're the fool. I haven't forgiven my brother for abandoning me. For not taking me along. Maybe... things would have been different. Maybe we could have worked it out earlier instead of nurturing animosity between us. But... I also care for him. He is my brother. The man who stands by his friends when things get tough. The one who wants his family to get along. Ever since I found out, I struggled with that, honestly. I didn't want to forgive witches. They discriminated against me and made me hate them more, but... it doesn't mean that they all deserve to die. There are good ones, like Evelyn... And... I can't believe it took me this long to understand this."
Tears fell down his cheeks.
(He doesn't expect forgiveness. He's not a good person. He may never be one. But... if he could fix his mistakes this way, so be it.
[He would soon decide to carry the burden of every other Belos in the multiverse. His own burden, but shared with those he can call family.])
"But seeing both the ugly and the beautiful, matters so much. I grew up seeing just the negative, but now I... I want to see the positive. I want to see what the world has to offer, so... I will not give up. I will fight to the end and liberate this place of evil people like you, and give my family peace at long last." He pointed his cane at the so-called queen. "You have met your match today, Gwenyth Blight!"
"Very well, then! I suppose that you want to kill your broth-" Her eyes widened as she saw Caleb and Evelyn sliding into battle stance beside the three, Xrosmon flying back to PrimorHekatmon. That was a distraction?!
"It was both a strengthening of my resolve and a distraction," he said. "Now prepare yourself for your demise!"
"I'd like to see you try!" She snarled, holding her crow staff as she began blasting at them.
Caleb and Evelyn formed shields to protect them, allowing the three to rush at her from various directions. Phoegos swung his cane and smacked her on the face, followed by Oflairon as he kicked and blasted her with ice magic, freezing her in place before Phoegos ripped a random glyph out, throwing it. The vines then grabbed her while Sandayuu mumbled, "Karma strikes again."
Bakera snorted while Jinpei looked at him, his ahoge forming a question mark.
"Hearth's Rebellion!" PrimorHekatmon blasted two streams of fire at Gwenyth, and even as the witch conjured up ice to counter, Phoegos threw a light glyph into her face, blinding her and causing her to get hit by the attack. "AHHH!!"
She flopped onto the ground as the three stood side by side.
Xrosmon grinned, a flash of lightning and he was in front of her, using the spellbook PrimorHekatmon had to WHACK her on the head with his talons before flying back, handing it back to the Digimon who smiled and patted him in gratitude.
"T-That's-" Evelyn actually had to control her laughter. Caleb had long lost his composure the moment Phoegos smacked the "queen" with his cane. Totally not right but man, was it HILARIOUS!
Evelyn's own sparrow palisman chirped in a way that almost seemed like laughter, while Flapjack, perched on Caleb's shoulder, smacked his partner's cheek lightly since it WAS still a serious battle.
"I think it's about time to finish up, don't you think?" Oflairon asked the two.
Phoegos smirked. "Undoubtedly."
"Time to get rid of this menace once and for all!"
"Then let's go for my special power!" Tiggan said, and the three had a purple aura as wisps of the Papillon family, the Whittebane couple, and many more manifested behind them. Dogs howled. Snakes hissed.
Their canes became swords made of gravestones, but Oflairon noticed his sword had the names of his family carved into it.
He smiled, looking up at the one who had taken everything from him. Who would have led him down a path of destruction were it not for the people who believed in him.
He was about to take her down, and save them all.
"You killed my family twice. Now, I'm going to make you pay for not just that, but for everything you put me through even though you started this entire mess," he said.
"Time to end this, once and for all!!!" They chorused.
It HUMMED. The Titan's magic resonated with them as they stepped forward as one.
They barely knew each other. Heck, in another world they would have been enemies. They would have been anything to each other. They would have never met.
Yet (maybe as fate should be) this miracle changed it all. It changed the WORLD they were in right now.
Pushing off the ground, the three roared as they lunged for her.
Gwenyth was definitely not thinking straight. "No no no no no no no no!!! I REFUSE TO LOSE! I AM THE QUEEN!"
"Well rebels topple queens all the time! THIS IS YOUR END, GWENYTH BLIGHT!!! T-TAKE THIS!!"
Caleb started at the tears his brother held in his eyes. It wasn't just sorrow, anger, it was also... peace. Finally liberated from the darkness that had swallowed him whole.
"ODD..."
"... WITCH..."
"... REQUIEM!" The psychic energy gathered, the souls joined together for one final strike, and then it.
It oneshotted Gwenyth right in the heart.
A loud BOOM! echoed through the entire isles.
The Collector gasped, feeling the pulse of something. "That... That's...!"
(A power not meant to exist? Yet... why does it feel so... right?)
[Centuriomon should interfere, he HAS to interfere.
But something about this.... feels like it's okay. No harm done.
"This world is no longer TOH-2304... It's TOH-2304-TR," he murmurs. "TR... is True Route."]
As the three landed, detransforming, with Xrosmon choosing Belos' shoulder to perch on while PrimorHekatmon devolved into Guilmon X, and two Digivices latched themselves onto the two. Belos gained a green and grey Tamagotchi that had various buttons on it. On the other hand, Félix gained an orange and purple smartwatch with a touch screen and some buttons on the side.
"What the- WHERE DID THIS COME FROM NOW?!?!!" Félix groaned, wanting to hit his head against a wall or something. He would take Adrien over THIS any day!!!
Philip poked the thing, eyes alight in wonder. "What is this contraption?"
The sheer whiplash EVERYONE got from this scene was very much priceless. Gangsan's mouth had gone slack, Daun was rubbing his eyes, Ranto pinched the bridge of his nose, done with this ****, Tsuchiyume snorted, Skyla's mouth joined Gangsan's, Sandayuu giggled a bit, and Jinpei?
"WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!!?!" He demanded.
Yep, Caleb was now dead from too much laughing, and Evelyn was trying to resuscitate him while Flapjack pecked his chest hard and Evelyn's palisman, Symone Kohi (the sparrow loved having a last name, thank you very much), joined in on his arms, making him miraculously return from the dead with a laugh. "I'm up, I'm up!"
"Grrr... You pests... You pathetic puppets can't even do your work right..." Gwenyth's voice cursed as she struggled to get up. She had no damage, but how...?
"It's nonlethal. I just wanted to paralyse you and your magic. Set your palisman free as well," Belos said.
"You... you scheming little *******!" She screamed. She couldn't move!!!
Her palisman gave Belos a thankful bow before flying off, probably back to the Bat Queen. That was better, really.
"Scheming little *******? If that's how you describe me, what would YOU be, Gwenyth? A pathetic attempt at being queen?" he mocked. "You stole the crown from their rightful owners. I think that it's time that they finally got what they deserve back."
His eyes landed on Evelyn, who blinked as he said, "During my travels, I found that your ancestors were the first rulers of the Boiling Isles, having established a peaceful contract with the spirit of the Titan whose body we are on right now before he died, only for Gwenyth Blight to erase everyone's memories of you ever being a royal family from history and making it seem like she had been the ruler all along. She didn't do a good job of wiping it from the ancient texts in a hidden cavern I found after meeting her."
"That's...!" Evelyn's eyes widened.
"I didn't know what to do with the information, but... I think I know what I must do now. It is time for you to take your rightful role as the ruler," he said, bowing on one knee to her. "You and Caleb are the only ones who can truly fix these Isles. Who can rid it of the discrimination I faced. Please... let no other human suffer the same fate I did when I arrived here, no, let no human ever suffer the losses I did that she inflicted for fun."
"Philip..." Evelyn's eyes softened.
"What about you?" Caleb asked sternly.
"There... is no more place for me here. Perhaps I will return to the human realm. It HAS been centuries since I returned home."
(Gwenyth Blight messed up the time synchronization between the two realms when she became queen by force, taking more and more from the Isles. The key did not seem to fit right, and the result was the different time stamps.
Maybe... things would resync up now that she was gone.
[Had he returned to the human realm, he would have grown old and told stories of the witches, taking care of those whose imaginations were deemed too wild and encouraging them to chase their dreams.
His descendant would then go on to be the only one to support Luz Noceda, allowing her to find a home, to have a happier life even if it's not in the demon realm.
Of course this is not that story. This is a story of two men who became Anomalice, and the Digimon who shed that label.])
"About that..." Wuliang finally spoke up, and everyone turned to him, finally registering the huge group that had been there for the entire battle.
Félix recognised Sandayuu. "Aren't you the one who fought that leopard?"
"Acheelmon," Guilmon X corrected. "And you are talking to her right now. Well, who she used to be, at least."
He gave her a blank stare for approximately five minutes before it clicked. "Wait you were the one who tried to kill my uncle!?"
"Kinda?" She sheepishly said. "Sorry about that."
"No, I... don't blame you for that. He is a ******* in his own right. I'm just surprised you knew when the majority of Paris saw him according to who he presented himself to be," he said.
"That's a looonnnngggg story," Tiggan joked.
"Anyhow, can I see your shoulders?" Wuliang requested. "I need to check on something."
"Sure?" the two shared a confused glance, but as they did, Caleb's eyes widened. "What in the?!" Evelyn covered her mouth in shock as well.
Unless his brother got a tattoo, he was pretty sure THAT wasn't there before.
The apple mark could be seen on their shoulder blades, the right side for Félix, and the left side for Philip.
"I did NOT expect this," Wuliang mumbled. "Somehow... two people became Anomalice..."
Everyone's eyes widened.
"You... You can BECOME Anomalice?" That was news to Skyla for sure.
"Instead of fate decrees? Fate Changers exist for a reason," he said. "The only reason I don't have the mark is because of my parentage."
(Two Fate Changers, their auras mixing into the vessel following a battle between a virus and its vaccine... That was how Wuliang came to be.)
"But this, this is definitely new," he concluded.
"That's actually true. Not even Mona..." Guilmon X said with a frown.
"Maybe it's a sign they created their own paths," Xrosmon offered, finally speaking up. "I think my b- I mean, Belos definitely did good here."
"T-Thank you." Belos was surprised.
Xrosmon grinned as Skyla let out a quiet sigh despite the grin on her face. "Well, clearly you three are now Miraculous holders. And while I didn't expect someone outside our group to get one, much less a former enemy, I think that you guys becoming Anomalice seals the deal."
"What about?" Félix asked.
"Well, we're the Dimension Keepers. We keep the peace in the worlds and multiverse. We will have to explain to you later on, but either way, would you like to join us in protecting this multiverse? Are you prepared to be hated by the system, to be nothing but a glitch?" Wuliang stepped forward.
(He doesn't see the grins forming on the others as it hits them that the other is officially joining up with them at long last. After all the years of avoiding them, finally, he's embracing it.)
The three shared a glance.
Félix thought about his home. He thought about how his mother would miss him. He thought about how he would miss his world, but... he also found a curiosity growing in him. To explore, to protect, as his father had done.
Obron thought about his brother and sister-in-law, about the Boiling Isles, about Gwenyth. He wanted to stay and help, but... he also knew that this wasn't his place anymore. It wasn't truly his home. He wanted to... keep his family safe, and if it involved working with these people, so be it. (Something about them told him they were honest and genuine. Not liars. Plus, it was high time he began repenting for his sins of killing witches.)
Guilmon X had already set her mind on the answer. She knew that of course, they wouldn't trust her right off the bat, but she also wanted to believe that she could find a way to save them all. To save Mona Artemision before that glitch, those Codes fully got the better of her.
Their answer?
"We accept."
Caleb and Evelyn made sure to give Obron a huge hug before he left, though.
"Take care of yourself. And please, come back to visit some days," Evelyn told him.
"I... I would love to," he promised.
Caleb couldn't stop the proud smile from forming on his face. His family... finally it was coming full circle.
A lot of work was to be had, but he was sure that when it counted, his brother would return to help them fight off the threats. Other than that... well, he and Evelyn HAD led the W.A.T. for a reason.
As the two watched him leave, Evelyn kissed Caleb's cheek. "You don't have to worry about him anymore."
"I-I know... M-My baby brother is finally... back," he said, tears falling down his cheeks.
She simply embraced him, their palismen joining in.
"She's gone?..." Apophimon stares at Aesopia.
She shakes her head, ignoring the glare [REDACTED] is giving her. She doesn't have much time due to her exhaustion, before the vessel regains control, but... "She'll be working on the same goal, in a different way. For now, who wants to go next?"
"I'll still stay behind in case these two escape," Apophimon says.
"Then.... LostValkyrimon?"
The skeletal valkyrie Digimon bows to her. "As you command."
"The Monster Farm Miraculous is next. Make sure to find it-" her eyes flicker. "-before it's too late."
The Digimon nods before swiftly disappearing the same time [REDACTED] returns. "Ugh..."
"[REDACTED], you okay?"
Their only reply is hacking out blue goop.
Apophimon frowns quietly.
('Will the vessel hold in time?' is the real question, isn't it?)
