I really detest it when authors say: "Ok, so 3 votes and 2 comments, and then I'll update again."

You should be writing for the joy of expressing yourself, not to force people to vote or comment. I find that really rude. If you truly want to write and let people enjoy your books, then you don't need them to always comment. It gets annoying, and it compels people to do it. If they're gonna vote and/or comment, because it's a good book, they'll do it without you requesting it.
