Chapter 3: The Annihilator

[3rd person POV]

"What a bother." Accelerator said as he walked his way to a bench, stepping on severely injured thugs. "Tch. All because of that damn brat."

Accelerator sat and slumped down on the bench, resting his feet on an injured thug. He got a can of black coffee out from the plastic bag that he was carrying, and cracked it open, taking a sip from it. As of that day, he had been kicked out by an angry Last Order, and had been ambushed by thugs several times while walking, going to the public bathroom, and even while sitting on a park bench. Fortunately, he was known by those who saw him (effortlessly) beat up the thugs, so nobody dared to call anti-skill.

The people in the park started to leave; not only because Accelerator had made a bloody mess out of it, but also because it was getting dark and the curfew time of most dorms was nearing. This slightly eased Accelerator's irritation; he hated all those noisy people as much as he hated the fact that he could no longer deflect their insignificant white noise.

As the sun slowly set, Accelerator could feel his boredom growing. He didn't have anything with him other than his cane and a bag of black coffee, and it wasn't like he could sleep on a park bench, so he got up and decided to finally go home, hoping not to be yelled at by Last Order again.

The thugs he beat to a pulp got up and limped away hurriedly, the ones that were too weak to get up crawled away, as soon as he was out of sight.

While walking, Accelerator felt a pair of eyes watching him, so he decided to take detours through the alleyways that he knew very well, but to his surprise, as he walked through an alleyway, the exit was blocked by a translucent wall, and the opening where he entered was blocked as well.

"Tch. What the hell is this?" Accelerator said, as he walked towards the wall. Upon touching it, he felt pain coursing through his hand. He looked at his hand and checked if it was cut, but to his surprise, it left no injury whatsoever. "What the hell...?"

Turning on his electrode, he focused his power in his fist. He got a running start and then punched the wall; impact of his fist against the wall was enough to throw him back. The wall broke and was dispelled by his power, only to reform again.

"Impressive." A distorted female voice rang through the alleyway. "You actually managed to break that."

A hooded figure of a girl leapt from the ledge of the left-side building's window, landing a few feet behind Accelerator. The girl tried to slice Accelerator's nape with a dagger, only to be blocked by his cane, and the girl's grin almost matched the one on her white mask.

"Nice reflexes." The girl said, and Accelerator turned on his electrode.

"What are you, another thug?" Accelerator scowled. "Let me tell you something, I've had enough of you assholes for the day."

"Hey now, don't compare me to those lowly beings." She said teasingly, taking out another dagger. "You're the best one I've seen yet, so how about we have some fun?"

The girl attacked relentlessly, jumping off the walls and continuously slicing at Accelerator. He was reflecting the attacks which sometimes threw the girl aback, but he very well knew that he couldn't keep this up for long. With the amount of thug encounters that he had earlier, his electrode could only stand for another seven minutes, so he had to fight back. Although, the girl could move twice as fast as a normal person could, so even landing a hit would be no easy task.

Accelerator used his power to charge towards the girl, but before he could hit her, she jumped away, and his fist hit the translucent wall. He couldn't act fast enough to use reflect before his fist collided with the wall, and he was thrown back. His hand started to bleed, but he paid no attention to it.

Using his power, he gripped the girl by the arm, but as soon as he did, it was like they repelled, and they were both thrown back.

"What the hell...? How...?" The girl scowled, standing up slowly. She looked at her ripped sleeve and the scratch on her arm. She regained her composure and chuckled. "That hurt a little. Might just leave a mark."

The girl charged towards Accelerator, and once her fist collided with his reflect, they were both, once again, thrown aback.

"This is..." The girl said, sitting up. "Hahahaa...haven't seen this effect in quite a while...amusing really. Never expected to see this again."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Accelerator grumbled.

"It's something that reminds me of...an important memory. Something very dear to me." The girl said. "Consider yourself lucky. I'm letting you live."

"I don't need your false pity, coward." Accelerator scowled, but the girl paid no attention to him and hopped on a window ledge.

"Who the hell are you?" Accelerator called out.

"I have many names, but your friend from Anti-Skill and her buddies have a special one for me." She laughed. "They've really outdone themselves, it's quite a nice name."

"What the hell are you talking about, bastard?" Accelerator frowned and the girl laughed again.

"They call me...

Annihilator."

"A serial killer. Typical." Accelerator said.

"Not really. I'm fighting for a much different side than you think. I was used as a pawn for the start of the war, but since I ended that war and I surely am sick and tired of always being somebody's tool, so I think..." Annihilator chuckled. "..it's time for me to turn the tables around and play king for a change."

She took one final glance at Accelerator, waving goodbye before she quickly jumped from window ledge to window ledge, soon disappearing from his sight, the translucent walls disappearing along with her.
