Linked Senryu: Dearest Annabel

Dearest Annabel,

Once upon a beach somewhere,

Pardon dawn's shadows.

You're dashing the heart

Of love, now he does quote Poe,

You, a distant shore.

Nevermore he exclaims

As he inhales your bouquet

Whose mother will weep?

(A.N. The senryu is the Japanese haiku humanized. The haiku is objective about nature whereas the senryu is subjective dealing with human emotions [nature and humans mix so the two boundaries blur, even in Basho's work]. This is English style linked senryu where each stands alone, and linked tell a complete story.)
