I was in the hospital room looking at my dad. His eye was black and his lip was busted. The only thing that mattered to me at the moment was my family. My dad was everything to me. I remember the day I was taken from him. I didnt want him taken from me again.

The doctor came in and looked at my dad. "He's in bad shape Anna. The officer beat him pretty bad."

"Isnt he in trouble for this?" I asked. The doctor sighed and shook his head. "Im afraid not Anna. Hes a figure to the law and they usually never get in trouble for things like this. It happens all the time around here."

"But my dad would never hurt a child! Hes always been so good to me and my baby. My whole family in fact. Im going to make sure he gets in trouble."

"Best of luck to you Anna...and I have the reports if you need reference of the incident." he said walking out. I looked over at my dad and he slowly opened one eye. "Daddy!" I whispered loudly running to his side. He gave a weak smile and reached for my hand. "Oh my babygirl....so strong." he said weakly.

I started to cry. "Daddy...why are they doing this to you?" He softly kissed my hand and sighed. "At this rate they're going to tire me out Anna. Im getting tired of this." he said closing his eyes again. "Daddy! Daddy! Wake up!!!!"

He opened his eyes again. "I...I love you Anna. I love you so much. From the day I first saw you I knew you were my daughter. You've made me so proud. I couldnt be a happier dad. Im sorry." he said shedding a tear.

"No daddy what are you sorry for?" I said crying uncontrollably.

"Sorry for doubting you. Im so sorry. I....I keep seeing you as a little girl, running behind me and tugging at my shirt. You were the cutest little thing. Ive always wanted the best for you. You''ve grown to be a beautiful young lady. I wasnt a bad dad was I?"

"No daddy of course you werent. You are the best dad a girl could ask for. I love you. Please dont leave me now!"

He held my hand tighter and I could hear him breathing softly. He put my hand to his chest and closed his eyes. "You feel that? My heart holds a special place for you my Anna. Your dad loves you very much and he knows you are going to be ok. Im going to be ok. Im...Im hurting so bad." he whispered. Suddenly he let go of my hand and his eyes remained shut.

"DADDY! DADDY!" I screamed. The doctors rushed in and I stood there while they were seeing what was wrong with him. This was by far the worst day of my life.
