Chapter 4 - Headlock (UNFINISHED)
Tord woke up the next morning to the sound of a pig squealing out loudly. He pricked his ears, slowly lifting his head up. From the sounds of it, the pig was running around in circles now, still squealing out loudly.
"OH SHUT UP!" Tom roared.
Tord then heard the sound of talons smashing down on a body and crushing bones. The pig went silent.
Tord then began to stand up, stretching and yawning. He padded out of the sleeping cave, immediately perking up when he saw the Seawing. He had a sack around his neck, and the dead pig laid pathetically in the sand in front of him. He looked up at Tord.
"Morning." he simply said in his usual monotone voice.
"Morning," Tord replied, walking up to him. He looked down at the pig, then back up at Tom. "Did you really bring this for me?"
Tom snorted. "Against my will," he said. "Matt suggested we brought you breakfast, then Edd added on saying you loved pigs. Then he started talking about how he loved pigs...and cows... And how good they taste... I think you can put the rest together."
"Oh," Tord said, looking back down at the pig again. "Do you want some?"
"Nah," Tom replied. "I got my own breakfast."
The Seawing reached into his sack and pulled out a freshly caught fish. Tord couldn't tell what it was, but then again, how would he know? He wasn't an expert on marine life. Tom popped the fish in his mouth, chewing it slowly.
Tord twitched his wings. "Suit yourself." the Skywing then made a low hiss before shooting flames at the mammal. Tom nearly choked on the fish he was eating, backing up against the wall.
"Be careful where you aim that!" He hissed.
Tord lightly blew on it, dying down the flames. He looked up at Tom. "Calm down. Skywing fire may be powerful, but I'm pretty sure we know how to aim it." He picked up the pig, beginning to rip large chunks from the animal off and eating them.
Tom twitched his wings. "Why did you even set it on fire anyway?"
Tord held up a single talon, quickly swallowing, then he answered "I prefer to have some of my food cooked, rather than raw. Edd is like that too. Well, usually he doesn't really care whether something is cooked or not. Anything that can be considered edible, he'll eat. But you get the point."
Tom let out a short, soft laugh. "True..."
They both began eating again, taking their time. It was silent for a few moments, and kind of awkward.
Tord swallowed, and, to break the awkward tension, said "Where did you even get these? If you don't mind me asking..."
"There's a prey centre nearby," Tom said. "Everything is free, and you can get almost anything imaginable."
"Even mountain goats?" Tord asked.
Tom nodded. "Yep."
"Huh..." The Skywing said, eating the rest of the pig. "Fascinating..." He twitched his wings and stood up. "Well, I'm gonna go to Edd's place."
"Aight..." Tom said, the ridge on his back standing up. "No funny business, you hear me?"
Tord rolled his eyes. "Yes, mother." Tom gave him and unamused look.
The Skywing padded out of the apartment, gently closing the door behind him. He walked up to Edd's apartment and knocked on the door.
"Just a minute!" The Mudwing yelled from the inside.
Tord stood there patiently, jolting to attention when suddenly the door opened. He blinked in confusion as he didn't see any dragon in front of him. He then looked down and perked up.
A small, tan-skinned creature stood there. It had a tiny tuft of black fur on its head, and shiny green eyes. It appeared to have little cloths wrapped around it, and squeaked when Tord stared down at it.
It was a scavenger.
"Ringo!" Edd shrieked, dashing over and picking the tiny creature up quickly. "What have I told you about opening the door? Don't you remember what happened that one time with Summit?"
The scavenger simply stared up at Edd and blinked. Tord tilted his head. Did he see that it actually looked... Guilty?... Huh...
Edd sighed and shook his head, pulling Ringo closer. "Sorry about that."
"It's fine..." Tord said with a gentle smile. He closed the door behind him, then looked back over at Edd and tilted his head. "But who's Summit?"
"Oh!" Edd said. "She's the messenger. She thought Ringo was a snack at first and might've almost ate her... But it's all good now! She knows she's my pet," He shifted his talons. "Then again she probably couldn't forget, for the fact I knocked her over just so she wouldn't eat her."
Tord laughed, nudging Edd in the arm. "I bet that what a sight!"
The Mudwing put the scavenger on his back. Ringo immediately latched on, curling herself comfortably around Edd, who began shifting his talons with a small smile on his face. "Yeah... I guess it was kinda funny."
Tord looked around, noticing how the apartment had a swampy theme to it. Then again, a Mudwing DID live here. But the weird part was, the front of the apartment seemed to be one of a normal cave. There was even a desk with scrolls in the right corner of the room, and the left corner of the room had the same... But smaller... Along with a bunch of other weird little things.
Probably all Ringo's, Tord guessed.
