Opening:

Chapter One: Animon, I Choose You!

The chapter starts in a normal-looking day at Karakura Town, a decently sized town located in the Edo League (former east Asia) which has not much going for it other than the presence of the researcher Kisuke Urahara.

Right now we can see a bedroom in a medium sized house, the bedroom is very dark, to the point even a cat would have trouble seeing anything.

Suddenly the door opens to reveal a green haired female Animon in a black dress, specifically a Tatsumaki, and as soon as the slightest strand of light enters the room a cat-like hiss can be heard.

[Tatsumaki]

-Hey brat, the old professor was here earlier, he was looking for you- Tatsumaki spoke as the door was fully opened to reveal a tall male maybe in his mid or late teens who was the one responsible for the hissing.

-Dang it!- The boy, who'se name is Lucas D Marvelous, groaned as if the small amounts of light caused him physical pain. He got up and putted on a pair of sunglasses. -I'll be there in five minutes.

Small Timeskip

Lucas stepped outside his house taking in the breeze of the small Karakura Town. He was wearing a pair of flip-flop slippers, cargo pants, a shirt with the Gokaiger emblem on the chest, a long coat with an Aniball symbol on the back, a pair of sunglasses over his eyes and goggles on his forehead.

As he stepped on the grassy fields of Karakura, he heard a person speaking and looked to see two boys of his age, both of Edo origin (formerly known as Asian) but one had brown hair and dressed like Spongebob Squarepants while the other had black hair and dressed like some sort of edgy military fantasy bs character.

-So you really are leaving- The brown haired boy spoke, his name was Light Yagami. -You know you will not be able to do it right?

-Save your words for those who would bother- The black haired one, Lelouch VI Britania, replied. -I will bring this society to ruins, and if you side with them you will fall as well.

-You will get yourself killed if you continue this- Light said turning his back to Lelouch and starting to walk away. -You better be certain of what you're doing. See ya later, or not.

-You should worry more about yourself Light, especially if you decide to side with Central- Lelouch walked on the oposite direction, leaving Karakura Town.

-My neighboors are somehow weirder than me- Lucas sighed as he noticed the two Edo boys had left. -I guess i should get going too.

Lucas then walked torwards the largest building in Karakura, despite still not being particularly large, the Animon Laboratory of Kisuke Urahara.

As Lucas entered the laboratory he walked past the lab assistants and noticed two people of his age standing in the lab, the first one was Light while the other was a girl of their age with blonde hair wearing white and blue, her name being Lucy Heartfilia.

As soon as Lucas approached, a fourth figure appeared, an older pale man wearing a green and white striped hat and carrying a wood cane walked in, that was Urahara himself.

-Oh, so the three of you are here- Urahara said as he noticed the trio, who coincidentally all had variations of the same name. (Both Lucas and Lucy vary from Lux meaning Light) -You three must be wondering why i called you here and well... you are aware of the town's situation right?

-We are not producing enough strong trainers- Lucy whispered.

-And your researches are not finding any breakthroughs either- Light continued.

-So Central is essentially cutting our town's funds because of it right?- Lucas asked in a lazy and bored tone.

-Exactly- Urahara proceeded. -And because of it i decided to send three trainers in a journey.

Urahara walked to a desk and removed the cloth covering it, revealing three Aniballs, the first with the symbol of an orange sphere and four red stars; the second with the symbol of a pirate flag-style skull wearing a straw hat and the third with the symbol of a red spiral.

-I was originally going to call the three most promising of your generation, Light; Lucy and Lelouch- Urahara spoke. -But Lelouch decided to leave Karakura, so i had to call Lucas in lack of better options.

-Excuse me professor- Light drew the attention of everyone. -Wouldn't it make more sense to give me Lelouch's starter instead? Since i have the best results between me and Lucy in our tests and, no offenses, Lucas never had a battle in his life.

-That's not how it works Light, with how Central sees it we would need three succesful trainers in order to reach the requirements we need- Urahara then smirked. -Unless what you are saying is that you need two starters to be a trainer.

-I understand, apologies- Light nodded.

-I know we will all do fine, don't worry about it Lucas- Lucy smiled. -I believe you should choose first.

-That makes sense- Light agreed. -Since he lacks experience.

-Not like it's a hard choice for me to make if i'm being honest- Lucas yawned. -The starters of Edo are some of the most famous Animon you can see out there after all. Goku the Saiyajin Animon, a Fighting type native of Vegeta Valley in Slot League where i was born, Luffy the Mugiwara Animon, a Normal type known for their rubber-like form and also native to Slot, and Naruto the Shinobi Animon, a Flying type and the only to actually be native to Edo League. And my choice couldn't be more obvious.

Lucas walked to the second Aniball, grabbing it and throwing it to the air as a male Animon with black hair wearing a red shirt, blue pants, sandals and a signature straw hat appeared.

-Luffy- Lucas called the Animon's attention and approached it. -We have one thing in common, we both hate being held back by disgusting authorities, so come with me and you will never have to deal with those pompous bastards again.

-Shishishishi- Luffy laughed as he took Lucas's hand. -I like you, i guess we are nakamas now!

This surprised Light and Lucy, Luffys are not exactly known for respecting newbie trainers or being easy to train, but Urahara seemed to expect it, as if he knew of something the others didn't.

-Well, i also know who i will pick- Lucy said with a smile approaching the third Aniball and throwing it, revealing a blonde-haired male Animon with orange and black clothes and a forehead protector on a headband, a Naruto. -Hi there, my name is Lucy and i hope we can be friends!

-I have a feeling that with you i can become the strongest'ttebayo!- Naruro fist bumped Lucy.

-I guess i know what i will take then- Light grabbed the first Aniball and threw it to the air, revealing a black haired male Animon taller than the other two, wearing an orange martial arts gi with the Kame symbol on the back, a Goku. -I know you want to fight strong oponents, and so do i, so join my team and we can do it.

-You look weird, but like a good trainer too so sure!- Goku smiled before the trainers returned their starters to the Aniballs.

-Well then- Urahara handed to each of the trainers a handheld device that looks like a mix of phone and handheld console before starting to speak. -This is the most recent model of the Anidex. It is a digital encyclopedia that will store data of any Animon you catch. It also works as an ID; your trainer licences; as well as storing your Animon and items.

The older man then walked to a different desk and took a set of three boxes, handing them to the now trainers.

-And here is the basics you will need to be trainers- He explained. -Some Aniballs; Potions; Antidotes; Awakenings; Paralyse Heals; Burn Heals; Ice Heals and basic camping gear. Well, i will let you three to do your thing now, see ya someday i guess.

After that, the three new trainers went home to get ready for their journeys, with as soon as Lucas enters his house Tatsumaki imediatly showing up with a backpack with his stuff, seemingly she was aware that Urahara would be giving starters today so she made Lucas's bag while he was out.

Truth be told, while unlike Lelouch; Light or Lucy, Lucas had no practical experience with Animon battles, his theoretical knowledge would put even members of the World Alliance of Animon Leagues to shame.

As Lucas walked away, Tatsumaki could only sigh to herself.

'This brat... why did he have to be so much like you?' She thought while looking at a picture of her (back then still having the normal looks of her species) and a man who once was her trainer. 'Never listening to me, or to anyone else... i just hope they don't get to him... he better get strong soon'

With a saddened look in her eyes, Tatsumaki could only hope her son would not suffer the same fate as his father, even if it he does not remember it.

Time Skip

Back with Lucas

Lucas was walking through the route that connects Karakura Town and Cocoyashi Village, where the first gym is located.

The route was mostly a grassland with some trees spread here and there.

In the particularly tall grass spots, wild Animon hide and can attack if triggered.

You see, Animon have the ability to enter a dormant state where their bodies turn smaller and weaker, in that state they tend to hide in tall grass; water spots; caves or whatever habitat they live until they decide to go active, the technology in Aniballs being specifically able to trigger this mode on them.

(A/N: This is also the canon explanation for Pokemon so i just stole it. Yes that's why something as large as Tropius can hide in grass without issues)

Lucas decided to stop for a period in order to train Luffy, so the two set a camp and Luffy started practicing with Lucas's instructions.

Luffys are known for being extremely hard to train due to their thick heads, so a trainer without any experience such as Lucas being able to train one so easily was nothing short of miraculous, especially since he has taught Luffy moves that should only be learned at a higher level.

Right now they were fighting a wild animon that looked like a young girl with tanooki or raccoon ears and tail wielding a short blade, it was a Young Raphtalia, the (HM) Slave Animon, a Normal Type.

[Young Raphtalia]

-Be careful Luffy- Lucas warned. -Rubber Body's effect may protect you from blunt damage, but slashes deal double damage because of it. Now let's make this showy!

-Got it!- Luffy opened a large smile and crouched, readying his fist.

-Quick Attack- Young Raphtalia dashed at very high speeds for someone with legs that short, almost disappearing and reappearing in front of Lucas. -Cut!

She readied her blade, swinging it against Luffy's arm.

'She is too fast to dodge' Lucas thought to himself. -Luffy block it by hardening and then counter!

-Got it, Harden!- Luffy coated his arm in a dark metallic substance, hardening it and absorbing part of the damage. -Low Kick!

Luffy swings his leg under the wild Animon, knocking her out of her ballance as she falls on her back.

-Now let's use the move i just taught you- Lucas ordered as Luffy nodded.

-Fire Punch!- Luffy's hardened arm was soon ignited in flames as he slammed his fist on the wild Animon.

-Now she must be weakened enough- Lucas pulled an Aniball from his coat's pocket. -The winning formula has been set!

He threw the Aniball at the female Animon, her body shrinking into Passive Mode and being absorbed by the sphere that shook one time, then two, then tree... and clicked, signalizing capture.

-We did it!- Lucas and Luffy fist-bumped as the Anidex updated with Young Raphtalia's data.

(A/N: From this point on i will just refer to Lucas's Young Raphtalia as Raphtalia to make things easier, but the base stage is still called Young Raphtalia until it evolves)

[Young Raphtalia the (HM) Slave Animon]

[Normal Type]

[This Animon is not particularly strong but surprisingly fast for it's size, causing most of them to avoid fights when wild. If caught, Young Raphtalia is one of the most loyal Animon a trainer can have, wanting to be hepful even at the cost of it's own health such as being used as an HM Slave if deemed too weak to fight]

'Well luckly HMs don't exist anymore' Lucas thought to himself while returning Luffy to the Aniball, HMs got abolished in the last decade or so.

He decided to heal his newest catch, so he pulled out a Potion and summoned Raphtalia from her Aniball.

-Stay still, i am going to heal you- Lucas applied the potion, causing the Animon to flinch for an instant due to the burning sensation before relaxing as the pain vannished. -Sorry if we went a bit too far with you, name's Lucas and i am your new trainer, so i hope you do your best to get stronger for me ok?

-R-right!- Due to the instincts Sukebe gave to her species Raphtalia already had gained a constantly-growing loyalty to her trainer, but she never heard of a human actually wanting to make a Raphtalia stronger, they are usually just used as slaves for tasks humans and other Animon won't do. -You can count on me, Lucas-sama!

-Good- Lucas patted Raphtalia's head, causing her tail to wag in happiness. -By the way, just call me Lucas. This story is already gonna cause cringe in enough people without needing honorifics.

-Huh?- Raphtalia didn't understand what he meant by story or cringe but she nodded regardless. -Right, sorry Lucas... i-i just never expected to have a trainer...

-Don't worry about it- Lucas's eyes were not visible under his sunglasses but Raphtalia could swear they were glowing, regardless of how unlikely it is for a human's eyes to glow, especially one without any Blood Gifts.

After some rest and having Raphtalia get to know Luffy, Lucas decided to train Raphtalia, her speed was great for her level but her defenses were quite weak.

As a way to counter this, he not only had her do some physical training but also taught her to use Growl, a move normal types tend to learn easily and that lowers the target's attack in 25% of it's normal.

So let's say an Animon has 80 attack normally, by being hit by growl it would go down to 60, and if hit again to 40, since 25% of 80 is 20.

Right now Lucas had packed his stuff and was back on his way to Cocoyashi Village when he heard a familiar voice call for him.

-Lucas! How did you get here before me?- The voice was of course Lucy, who was now running torwards her almost homoname neighboor.

-I just walked- He spoked tilting his head in confusion at her doubt. -I am surprised you took so long.

-Well, this is the first time we meet after getting our starters, so you know what it means right?- Lucy drew out an Aniball, a smile on her face. -When the eyes of two trainers meet, it means it's time to battle!

-A battle huh?- Lucy could swear she noticed the surrounding place darken as Lucas opened a grin that made her feel like an early rodent from late cretaceous facing directly a hungry O. Quilombensis. -I hope your ninja is ready then, because i will not be holding back~

[Lucas's grin]

'What feeling was that? Could it be an intimidation-based Blood Gift? But it wouldn't make sense his mother is not a dark type' Lucy thought before recomposing herself and nodding, both trainers readying their Aniballs. -Allright Naruto, i count on you!

Lucy threw her Aniball summoning the blonde Flying-Type ninja to her side.

-Leave it with me'ttebayo!- Naruto smiled.

-Luffy, let's make this showy!- Lucas's grin stayed as he summoned the straw hat pirate Animon to his side.

-So that's who i'm gonna fight? Let's finnish this quick so we can eat- Luffy crouched, his fist positioned.

-Naruto start with your taijutsu!- Lucy ordered, knowing Naruto had a decently high attack stat.

-Got it, Pound!- Naruto dashed torwards Luffy, punching the pirate on the gut only for it to do no effect. This left the two blonds with a 😅 face. -Huh?

-This won't work, i am rubber! My turn Shishshishishi- Luffy laughed as his fist stretched behind him. -Mega Punch!

Luffy's fist soon came flying back torwards Naruto, who had to dodge using Substitute to make the target hit a tree trunk instead.

-Did you really just use a blunt damage move... on a Luffy?- Lucas facepalmed. -I know you experience is practical but you should at least try to remember your oponent's abilities! You better not be going light on me jusr because i haven't battled before!

-I-i-i would never!- Lucy yelped. -If taijutsu won't work... use your weapons!

-Got it, Swift!- Naruto threw a cloud of shurikens torwards Luffy, who dodged most of them but the ones that hit caused a decent damage.

-Bullet Punch!- Hardening his fist like earlier, Luffy struck Naruto with a punch that was too fast to dodge.

-Double Team!- Naruto created a shadow clone as both drew their kunais and pounced on Luffy. -Slash!

-Harden!- In the last moment Luffy was able to harden before the slashes could deal too much damage. -Fire Punch! Mega Punch!

With one fist glowing white and the other coated in black metal and red flames, Luffy struck both Narutos, poofing the clone and causing Burn effect on the real one.

-Oh damn it- Lucy cursed under her breath as she saw Naruto's HP slowly be drained by the flames. She was about to reach for a Burn Heal in her bag but didn't have time to as suddenly...

-STOMP!- Luffy's foot falls down from the sky, stomping Naruto hard enough that the ninja was knocked out.

-We won- Lucas walked to his starter and they fist-bumped before both trainers returned their starters. -Your Animon's timing is too slow, in a battle every atosecond counts.

-I am the one who should be teaching you that tho- Lucy pouted as she reached in her wallet and pulled about 300 bucks, which Lucas quickly took as his prize for beating her. -I can't exactly walk alone with Naruto being fainted so... can i tag with you just until we reach Cocoyashi Village? I just don't wanna risk being attacked by wild Animon.

-Whatever- Lucas spoke, with Lucy taking it as a yes. -That's why you should have caught a second Animon before having a trainer battle.

-Why do you talk like the experienced trainer?- Lucy sighed. -I am the one who should teach stuff, not you!

-Maybe you can teach once you actually know stuff- Lucas smirked as he walked away torwards Cocoyashi.

-Hey! Wait up! Don't leave me here!- Lucy started running after him.

Somewhere distant, we can see a pair of tired and bored eyes opening before suddenly gaining a spark of intrest.
