Your POV:
Slipping on a white lab coat, I prepare for my job as a psychiatrist. Today was my first day, and I had received the request to help someone named Osamu Dazai.
Apparently, a friend of mine, Doppo Kunikida, was 'tired of that bandage-wasting device constantly trying to commit suicide'. Since he heard about me starting a job in psychiatry, Kunikida begged me for help with payment.
To be frank, I was kind of nervous. I have heard of troublesome patients, and for my first task, I certainly don't want Dazai to fall into that category.
As I near the door, my heart pounds faster and faster involuntarily. Calming my nerves, I force a smile on my face and place my hand on the doorknob.
"Oh, are you the doctor?" A voice asks before I can even get the chance to open the door, "No need to be so shocked; I saw the knob twist."
"S-Sure," I open the door, "Are you Osamu Dazai?"
"That I am," my patient flashes a smile at me while his eye turned into crescents.
As I examine the person before me, I personally thought he looked cool. I mean, the bandages and trench coat are definitely working out for him. I don't know what's Kunikida's idea. And his chocolate-colored hair kind of reminds me of an adorable puppy.
"Nice to meet you," I pull over a chair and sit in front of him, "I'm Doctor (L/N). Your friend, Kunikida, told me a little about your case. Do you mind elaborating?"
"Nope!" Dazai leans in and rests his head on his hands, "Well, I dream of having a pure, cheerful, and energetic suicide with a beautiful girl such as yourself!"
"Um, thank you," I blush a little but then clear my throat, "The question is: Why do you want to commit suicide?"
"Who knows?" The chocolate-haired shrugs as if it's no big deal, "I just find suicide fascinating. There are so many methods, it's unbelievable!"
"From what I'm seeing, I see no reason for you to do so," I furrow my brows, trying to find a motive behind his actions, "I looked into a file provided by Kunikida. Is it true you were once an executive of Port Mafia?"
"That is correct," he answers my question as if he's in a quiz show.
"Why change to the good side, the Armed Detective Company?" I inquire.
"Thought I should be a better person," the former Port Mafia head replies rather bluntly.
"What or who caused it?" I dig in deeper, feeling like a detective.
"No one or nothing," he brushes the question off.
"Are you telling the truth?" I lean back in my chair.
"That's up for you to decide," he smiles gently at me before checking his watch, "Oh! I had to go help out Kunikida today with some files."
"We've only had ten minutes," I grow a bit suspicious, "Never mind. Hope to see you again, Dazai San. Don't try to commit suicide before I see you, okay?"
"Why should I when you haven't given me a reason?" He waves at me before exiting the bland room.
"My, this is interesting," I wasn't offended by his words but, rather, more excited for the next session.
There was something I had taken note of the whole time. His smiles had seemed fake.

Eating lunch, my phone rings. I check the Caller ID before answering. It had seemed to be Kunikida.
"Hello?" I speak into the phone.
"What did you do?" Kunikida's voice doesn't sound stern but rather shook.
"What do you mean?" I become worried because I have no clue as to what's going on.
"Dazai," he pauses for what I think is supposed to be a dramatic effect, "He actually wants to go for another session."
"That's great!" I cheer as to this is my first time handling my job, "But why is that so shocking?"
"Well, I have brought him to other psychiatrists but he had never gone to another meeting until now," he confesses, "Again, (Y/N). What. Did. You. Do?"
"I have no clue!" I am just as baffled as he is, "Has he tried to kill himself again?"
"Yes, two times," he exasperatedly sighs, "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it."
"Oka-."
"KUNIKIDAAAAA!" Someone who seems young yells from the background.
"What did he do now...?" His stress level just doubled, "I'll ask Dazai to meet you again in two days, is that alright?"
"Sure," I nod my head without even thinking, "You should probably go see whatever is going on."
"I'm already on it," he hangs up immediately.
"I wonder why he wants to consult with me again," I wonder before continuing my chicken wings.

"Hello again," I close the door behind me while meeting the gaze of cocoa-colored irises.
"Morning, my belladonna~" Dazai winks at me childishly.
"How are you?" I ease into the topic at hand that way I don't sound too straightforward.
"Would you believe me if I said I was fine?" He grins at me with fake happiness.
"As your doctor, I would," I cross my arms together with interest, "As a person, probably not. There must be a reason for you to try to commit suicide, and I don't think someone who is truly happy would do that."
"Wow, you should be a detective like me," he claps as if he's impressed with my insight, "From my past experiences, doctors don't trust whatever anyone says when it comes to their feelings or motives."
"That is the case for some," I can see where he's coming from, "I will admit that I didn't trust your answers from before. However, I'm more interested as to why you came back. Your friend told me that you never came back to another session with other psychiatrists until now. Why is that?"
"I didn't mind coming back here," he rests his head on a table, "You're different, I can tell."
"Okay?" I have no idea what to make of that, "Since you were a former Port Mafia leader, there must've been bloodshed, yes?"
"Unfortunately so," he places a hand on his heart.
"Have there been any problems back at Port Mafia?" I ask, "Anything that caused you to make the switch to the good side?"
"Yes," he reveals, "It was a friend of mine."
"Could you please expand on that?" I lean in with anticipation. He actually revealed something!
"Why should I?" He pouts rather immaturely, "You're just interested in my backstory."
"No, I'm just concerned," I tell him.
"As a doctor or as a person?" He cocks his head to the side.
"As both," I speak firmly and with sincerity.
"Interesting~" He coos before standing up from his chair, "I'll see you later, Ms. Doctor!"
"Okay," I sigh but was a bit more satisfied, "I'll see you in a week."
Once he's out of an earshot, I fist pump myself, "Yes! I managed to get something out of him!"
♛♚♛
Dazai and I have been meeting with each other for about three weeks, in and out of the hospital. Sometimes I'd bump into him on the way to buy groceries.
He hasn't revealed everything to me, but I hope he does soon. He seems to have plenty of secrets all kept to himself. The only important thing I had gotten from him was about his friend.
The receptionist at the front had notified me of Dazai coming in again today. Standing before the same white door, I push it open.
"Hello again, Dazai," I wave at him before taking a seat in a plastic chair.
"Hey," he doesn't wave back or call me belladonna like he always did.
"Are you okay, Dazai?" I immediately grow worried about him as both a doctor and a patient.
"Normally I would say yes," he fiddles with his thumbs, "But I don't feel like lying today."
"What do you feel?" I place down my folder and papers down.
"As if I'm done with everything," he confesses and my eyes widen, "Today was the day. The day he left."
"'He'?" I question, "Was he the friend of yours?"
"You could say that," a chuckle escapes his lips, not a happy one but a sardonic one, "I guess it's time I tell you everything, isn't it?"
"That is entirely up to you," I offer while the need to know what happened decreases out of sympathy.
"I'd prefer it to be now," Dazai sighs before carrying on, "During my days in Port Mafia, I had two friends: Sakaguchi Ango and Oda Sakunosuke, or as I liked to call him, Odasaku. After a night at a bar, Sakaguchi went missing. Both he and I went to look for him only to find out that he betrayed us and Port Mafia. Sakaguchi had found out where the leader of the Mimics, our enemy at the time, was and sought revenge for his friend. Although I told him not to, Odasaku went in by himself and ended up getting killed."
"That's horrible..." I cover my mouth with my hands from the shock. I didn't think it was that bad.
"Before he died, he had told me to switch sides, to the side where I can save people," he stops talking.
Inhaling a bit, I ask him the one question I needed an answer to when I first met him, "Is that why you want to commit suicide?"
"No, that wasn't it," Dazai shakes his head but not in the childish way he always did it, "Even when I first entered Port Mafia, I was going there'd be something there for me, a true purpose. However, when I saw Odasaku for the last time, he told me that no matter which side I was one, good or bad, I would never find that purpose. There would be nothing to fill the darkness I had."
"Have you found that purpose yet?" I speak to him with a gentle tone.
"I have," his lips curl up into a genuine smile, "Just recently. A few weeks ago to be exact."
"Well, good for you!" I try to lighten the mood a bit, "What is that purpose?"
"To live for one specific person," his chocolate-colored eyes stare into my own (E/C) eyes.
"Who is that?" I fidget at the sudden eye contact.
"You, Ms. Doctor," his head rests on his hands, "Why do you think I came here constantly?"
"Really?" I'm shocked if I was brutally honest. I mean, I was just a doctor who had finished college not too long ago.
"Yep," his calm demeanor didn't change, "This time I'm not lying."
"O-Oh," I blush furiously, "Th-Thanks."
"So, wou-?" A phone rings and Dazai sighs, "Hello?...Now?...But-!...Fine, I'll be over."
"What was that about?" I ask, not trying to pry.
"They need me back at the ADC," he abbreviates Armed Detective Company, "Sorry I had to cut this short."
"Oh, it's fine," I breathe out with disappointment, "I assume you won't be trying to kill yourself, right?"
"No, why would I do that when I have you?" He asks with a 'duh?' tone.
"Smooth..." I facepalm while my cheeks flush again.
"Since I won't be coming back here, mind going to the café with me on Saturday?" Dazai halts in front of the door before leaving.
"Sure, I'm off," I grin while pulling out a piece of paper, "Here, let me give you my number."
I jot down my phone number on the slip of paper and hand it over. Once taking it, he air kisses me.
"I'll be meeting with you again real soon, belladonna~"
