Your Lie in April
(3.28.18)

Your POV:
"Hey, (Y/N) Chan!"
I turn around from my boyfriend to see one of my best buddies, Takeshi Aiza, rushing over to me with two slips of paper in his hand.
"Takeshi?" I raise an eyebrow with confusion, "What is it?"
"I managed to get tickets to the baseball game for you and your boyfriend! The one you've been looking forward to!"
"Huh?" I smile at him with gratitude, "You really didn't need to get these for me. You should have gotten one for yourself!"
"Oh, I'll be there," he smirks, probably thinking up some dastardly plan, "So, here you are. It's on Saturday at 9:20 in the morning."
"Thanks for the tickets, Ai-Chan!" I call him by his old nickname from when we were kids.
His cheeks show a tint of coral while muttering a quiet, "You're welcome..."
"(Y/N)," My boyfriend, Shouto taps me on the shoulder, "We should be going. I don't think you'd want to miss the movie."
"Oh, right," I wave over to Takeshi, "Maybe I'll see you there. Later, Takeshi!"
My boyfriend drags me away while Takeshi just waves back until I disappear from his line of eyesight.
"What are you and Takeshi?" My boyfriend asks, hints of anger laced in his voice.
"We're just friends," I reply with a confused look, "Why you mad, bro?"
"It's nothing," he sighs and pushes his hair back with his hand, "Do you want to go to the game then?"
"Of course!" I grow giddy with excitement, "This is when my cousin debuts! He couldn't get me tickets because he 'can't do that'."
"You're cousin is going to play in the MBA?" Shouto widens his eyes with surprise, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I did," I roll my eyes, "I thought you already knew. I told you last week."
"Oh," he chuckles nervously, "Well then, I'll pick you up from your house at 8 o'clock."
"'Kay," I stretch my arms out, "What movie are we watching?"
"War movie," he answers with a smile on his face.
"Again?" I let out a breath as we had already watched a war movie the week before, "Can't we just watch Love, Simon?"
"Too bad," Shouto frowns at my displeasure for the choice, "I had already bought the tickets beforehand."
"Sigh, okay," I press my lips into a thin line, "Don't blame me for sleeping. I'll just ask Takeshi to take me to watch Love Simon."
"You shouldn't be able to sleep with all the commotion going on," he rebuts, getting agitated at my comment about Takeshi, "Why do you even hang out with Takeshi? His hair is literally two feet tall and he's a pianist!"
"So what?" I scoff at how immature he was being, "Don't insult my friends. His hair is special and he can play the piano better than anyone!"
"Sure," he furrows his brows, "Sigh, why did you even come with me? I should've gone alone."
"Because you invited me!" I shout before covering my mouth, "Sorry, that was rude of me."
He looks taken aback before regaining his usual composure, "Yeah, same here."
The whole walk to the cinema was painfully silent and we both look away from each other's eyes.
Is this relationship really working out? I've asked myself this question plenty of times. There's nothing wrong with Shouto, I just think we are incompatible.
I don't know if we should break it off because it's barely been a month since we started dating and I don't know if I'll miss something even greater.
Also, why is he so jelly about Takeshi? We're just friends as far as I know, so there's no affair between us.
If I were to be honest, Takeshi would be better than Shouto. He knows me better than I do and will take me to see Love Simon. What? It looks like a good movie, and I'm too lazy to actually read the novel version.
Sigh, it's fine. Maybe he'll be better during the game on Saturday...
♛♚♛
Today's the day! I rise up from my bed like I would if I came back from the dead but fast-paced.
"What should I wear?" I leap off the mattress and shuffle through my drawer, "It's supposed to be hot today so I'll wear a sleeveless shirt and a pair of shorts, accompanied by sandals."
I withdraw the said articles of clothing and lay them out on my bed. Stripping out of my pajamas, I slip into the comfortable and cool outfit.
I check the clock on my bedside and its numbers illuminate, "7:30."
"What should I do?" My eyes trail over to the phone situated on the blankets, "I think I'll play SuperStar BTS (this game is so much fun for you ARMYs out there. If you have iOS, it'll be a bit difficult but you can search up how to do so 🤗). Wait, there's a new song!? Heck yeah!"
I wait for the game to download and load. Humming Lost by BTS, I click on the 'Ready?' button and swing my legs to and fro.
Cracking my fingers, I become serious and squint my eyes for concentration. I tap the notes according to the beat and managed to get all S-Perfect and all combo.
I clench my fist with the taste of victory and a few songs turn into mere seconds. Suddenly, time passed on and someone rings the doorbell.
"Coming!" I yell and make my way down the stairs, not forgetting my bag of course.
Opening the door, I see Shouto waiting by the door with his phone in hand.
"You ready?" He shoves the cellular device in his jean pocket.
"Yep, let me just go and put on my shoes," I close the door gently and find a pair of sandals.
Sliding into the shoes, I re-open the door and beam at him, excited for my own relative to be playing in a professional baseball game.
"Let's go," he motions for me to follow him.
Trailing after him like a lost puppy, he swings the car door open for me, "After you."
"Why, thank you, my good sir," I perform a curtsy, earning a small chuckle from the man before me, "Shall we be on our way?"
"We shall," he replies with a slight smile and off we go.
All of a sudden, my favorite music comes on. I crank up the radio and bob my head to the tune.
Then, Shouto changes the station and I frown. Of all the stations he could've chosen, he chose that one.
He chose the Christmas -freaking- carols.
"What?" He glances over at me before looking back on the road, "The driver controls the radio. Besides, I like this one."
"You chose Christmas carols," I try to keep my cool, "when it's almost April."
"So?" he doesn't change the station and hums along.
"Never mind," I brush it off.
For the whole ride, we don't talk and forcefully listen to the music, for me anyway. I stare out the window as the trees become blurred.
My train of thought stops and makes a detour to the "What would Takeshi be like as my boyfriend" station.
Would he be dominant or submissive? Hm, probably a mix of both, but more dominant.
Would he brag about it? Definitely.
Forceful or gentle? Probably gentle.
Nice or tough vibe? Most likely nice.
Would he get jealous? For sure.
Soon enough, a baseball stadium comes closer and closer to us as we were near the building. We park in the garage and once the car shuts down, I bounce out of the car seat.
"Come on," I tug him along, "We need to get good seats!"
"Yeah, yeah," he scratches his head tiredly.
Full with vigor, I skip over to the entrance and into the bleachers. Most of the chairs were occupied but there was a nice pair of empty seats in the middle facing the Jumbotron and my cousin's team's players' box.
"This is a good spot!" I dash over to the remaining seats and save one for Shouto, "Come on, slowpoke!"
"You know, I'm not exactly a huge fan of baseball," he blurts out, creating a wave of shock to both me and the surrounding fans.
"You didn't need to come, I could've just asked someone else to take me, "I feel a little guilty that I brought you over here for something you don't want to see."
"No, it's fine."
"Hmmm," I chew on a hotdog Shouto passed me and stare at the players' box.
I notice a highly familiar looking man and I try to shout out to him as loud as I could.
"HEY COUS!" I cup my hands close in order to echo the sound.
The group of men swivels around to see who was causing such a ruckus. A tall and well-built player gives me a thumbs-up and a smile is plastered on his face. I wave my hand like crazy until he turns around to continue his conversation with the rest of his teammates.
"Could you not make such a ruckus?" Shouto taps a bit on his phone, his head down and focused on the device.
"What's your problem?" I wrinkle my nose at how...disturbing he was being.
"You're embarrassing me..." he mumbles while I check the people behind him.
A few gave me weird looks but I didn't care.
"God forbid I ruin your reputation in front of people you don't know," I spit out rather bitterly while crossing my arms.
Time passes by and the sound of a marching band comes into hearing. I widen my eyes and sit upright in my seat, thrilled for the game to start.
The speaker announces, "Everyone please stand for the pledge."
I obey his command and stiffen up like a wooden board. Placing my hand on my chest, I explore the field with my eyes.
An attractive and slender woman steps onto the pedestal, the microphone in front of her. She starts to sing so powerfully that I cringed a little.
Finally, the fanfare ends and I lean back into my seat. The game begins and my cousin's team begins as the outfield.
♛♚♛
The game was halfway, maybe three quarters, done and my cousin's team was lagging by a few points. A break was asked from the coaches.
In the meantime, I sip on my drink rather loudly. Suddenly, an image of Shouto and I appear on the Jumbotron. I nearly spat out my drink.
The filter with the words, "Kiss Cam" below and pinks hearts surrounded the borders. My cheeks heat up and I tug on Shouto's arm.
"Shouto!" I try to grab his attention but he seemed so absorbed with the game he was playing.
"What is it?" He asks tediously, "I'm busy."
"The Jumbotron!" I shake my arm at the screen, hoping I don't look like an idiot on national TV.
"That's great," he licks his lips as his fingers press furiously on the screen.
I sigh and slump in my seat. In the corner of my eye, someone in a suit of flamboyant colors comes striding up to us. It was the mascot!
They pull me into their arms, securing me in their grasp. The smell of a suit reeked with body odor fills my nostrils and I hold in my puke.
They then take Shouto's drink and pour it on him. I fight the urge to burst out laughing as I shouldn't.
Shouto stands up immediately and is drenched head to toe. He didn't really drink anything at all.
He's about to shout at him but I gesture over to the gargantuan screen. His face falls as he sees himself on the monitor.
In a rage, he takes his jacket and leaves. His eyes open slightly as he notices something about the mascot.
"Bye, (Y/N)," he grumbles before disappearing into the distance.
I was about to protest until mascot-guy drags me to somewhere below the stadium. I see two doors labeled either "Home" or "Visitor". We're probably near or at the teams' locker rooms.
"Um, excuse me?" I tremble a little.
Am I going to get raped!? Why's he taking me down here!?
"Don't worry."
We head into a narrow hallway with no one there. That's concerning.
"Are you going to do something to me?" I fish for something in my pocket, "I have...my keys and I'm not afraid to use them!"
"Ahahaha!" The mascot shakes with laughter, making me flinch, "That's precious, (Y/N)! Of course, you'd use keys to save yourself."
"Do you know me or something?" I step back but he comes closer which makes no difference.
"Huh? You didn't get it by now?"
The mascot-guy removes his mask and I gasp at who it was. His hair stuck out like a sore thumb.
"Takeshi!?" My mouth is wide open as I gape at him, "Why-When-How?"
"Asked your Cous to pull a few strings for me," he shrugs, "This suit smells doesn't it?"
"I bet it's your fault," I giggle with mischief.
"H-Hey!" He blushes with embarrassment.
"So, why did you do this again?" I smile at his antics.
"You know how I don't like Shouto," the electric blond fidgets a little, "I wasn't sure of how he was treating you."
"Welp, I guess today proves it," I sigh and run a hand through my hair, "Whatever. There were signs and I just didn't pay attention to them."
"Are you not hurt?" He stares at my deep, (E/C) eyes with concern.
"A little, not as much as I thought I'd be," I exhale with exasperation, "Guess he wasn't the one."
There's a still silence between the two of us. I rub my arms a bit from the cold and freeze up when I notice something about Takeshi.
"Takeshi..." I gulp and my cheeks heat up, "You're wearing something underneath that suit, right...?"
"Nothing except for underwear," the professional pianist blatantly responds, "Why?"
"You don't do that!" I exclaim while zipping up the open bit of the suit, "You wear clothes underneath that! And no, not your birthday suit!"
"Aish, okay (Y/N)," he escapes my gaze and scratches the back of his head, "...Y'know...I wasn't happy when you started to date Shouto."
"Hmm?" I tilt my head upward as I was busy with the stuck zipper, "Why is that?"
"I could tell you weren't the happiest when you were near him," he confesses while fiddling with his fingers, "I also heard the arguments you had during school. Not that I wanted to eavesdrop or anything!"
"Hehe, I know you're not like that," I finally manage to zip the suit up, "But thank you for the concern. I'm sorry that I angered you as well."
"It wasn't your fault," his cheeks flush a vermillion as he soon starts to stammer with his words, "Th-That wasn't the o-only reason why I-I was ups-set."
"Oh?" I turn on my shoujo part of my brain to help me predict the next few events.
I utter out a tiny gasp. If this is going out as I thought it would be, then...
His lips open and close to form words but I couldn't understand.
"Wh-What was that again?" I lean in closer to hear clearly.
"I-It was because I could've treated you better!" His eyes squeeze shut as he blurts out what he was truly thinking.
"Jealous?" I feel a smile creep upon my face without even thinking it.
"I...was thinking that because," he inhales sharply before continuing, "I could've treated you better than that poor-excuse-of-a-boyfriend. A-And the fact that you were still dating him despite all of that made me feel even worse."
"Takeshi..." I give him a guilty expression, most evident in my eyes.
"Especially when I have special feelings for you..." Aiza frowns a bit and his head moves downward.
"S-Special f-feelings?" I stutter with my words.
"I know I shouldn't have but," he lets out a shaky breath, "But you're just too irresistible."
"Aiza..." This time I address him by his first name for the first time, "It's funny...While my boyfriend and I had another argument, I was contemplating our relationship and wondered how you would be in his stead."
"O-Oh," his cheeks were aflame at this point, "Wh-What did you think of?"
"How you would be, what would we do," I list some of the ideas I had at the time, "I'm not sure if I like you completely yet. That part I'm still trying to figure out for myself and I'll be needing some help for that. So I was wondering if we could try da-dating each other..."
"(Y/N)..." his eyes brim with tears, "(Y/NNNNNN)! THANK YOU, THANK YOUUUU!"
He clutches me in his arms, tighter than ever before.
"A-Aiza!" I yelp from surprise and struggle a bit. However, I know it's no use and I hug him back.
Suddenly, a pungent smell enters my nose again. I grimace at the stench.
"Jeez, your mascot suit smells!"
