Tohru and kyo fruits basket

Valentines day, the day for couples to be together and express their love for each other in sweets and adorable gifts. That was no different for tohru honda; who has a plan to tell kyo sohma that she loves him.

She didn't have the money to go all out this year so she stuck with a simple and sweet gift. Chocolate kisses, and maybe even a real kiss. The thought alone made tohru fluster at the kitchen counter.

Shigure chose that exact same moment to walk into the kitchen; stopping to stare at the red faced brunette in front of him, he smiled knowingly. Choosing to act casually, Shigure walks over to the sink and grabs a cup. "Good morning Shigure! Happy valentines day! I'm sorry, but I didn't have the money to get everyone chocolates this year." shigure waved his free hand at her smiling "no don't worry about it, just make sure you give those chocolates to that special someone and give them a smooch for me." he made a kissy face, causing tohru to become flustered again.

After pouring a cup of tea, shigure walks out of the kitchen chuckling. Not much time later Kyo groggily trudges into the kitchen, making his way to the refrigerator for the milk. Taking a big swig, he lowers his hand and looks at Tohru, "Happy valentines day."

Realizing that she was staring at the ginger, Tohru turns her head away to hide her blush. *come on tohru get it together, just give him the chocolate. * she thought to herself before reaching in her bag of candies for the pink tin wrapped treat. "Happy valentines day to you too!" she smiles brightly trying and barely failing at controlling her blush.

Kyo stares at her for a second in bewilderment, but then realized she always gives everyone chocolate on valentines. Although that may be true he still took the treat, smiling thankfully and ruffled her hair. "Thanks..."

The action coupled with his beautiful smile made her heart flutter as her blush became a little brighter. Now felt like a good moment to say it. "Kyo, um... I um..." he tilted his head sideways in curiosity at her stutter. "yeah? What's up Tohru?"

Out of the corner of her eye she saw Yuki's sluggish form slinking into the kitchen for some tea. This isn't a good time now; she needed to retreat. "Nevermind I forgot what I was going to say, oh look at the time I better go get ready for school!" and with that she dashed out of the kitchen and up stairs to her room so she could face plant into her bed and pillows.

That was embarrassing, why did she run out so quickly? That made it weird, even Yuki probably noticed how weird it was! She can't give up though. She had a plan and wanted to stick with it. She will say it today, no matter what. With a huff she stood from her bed and began dressing for school.

~time skip about thirty minutes~

The walk to school between the three was quiet. Not an awkward quiet just a comfortable morning quiet. Kyo to tohru's left stared up at the sky as he walked, perfectly capable of seeing in front through his peripheral vision. Yuki walked with a small notebook in hand most likely practicing his graduation ceremony speech.

Tohru smiled to herself as she stole glances back and forth between the two young men. Both were strikingly handsome in their own ways but she appreciated them differently. Yuki was one of her best friends, and yes kyo is too; but she absolutely loved everything about him. She couldn't wait for this evening when she puts her plan into action.

She giggles lightly to herself and blushes, catching the attention of both men. Simultaneously they look between tohru and each other. Who or what could she be thinking about to make her blush so cutely?! She was only friends with guys from the sohma house so... *is she thinking about me? * kyo thought.

*she's definitely thinking about that idiot* Yuki thought with a knowing grin. He started to pick up his pace to a run before turning around, "I have a meeting with the student council before school, I'll see you all in class". With that he was gone down the road in a light jog. Leaving Tohru and Kyo alone in silence.

This made Tohru blush again, with a light chuckle she continued walking to catch up with kyo. "So Tohru, what were you going to say this morning before the rat walked in, have you remembered yet?" Noting the increase in red tone on her face, kyo stopped walking.

Stopping next to Kyo, Tohru's thoughts raced over two questions: Is now really a good time to tell him, and how stupid does she look right now? Now really isn't the best time, so she shakes her head, looking up at kyo apologetically. "I'm sorry, I haven't, kyo. It'll come back to me later." she smiles brightly and taps her knuckles to her own head cutely.

With a nod, kyo starts walking again but slowly so Tohru can stay in pace with him. His mind raced with curiosity, questions he needed answered or they would naw a hole in the back of his head by noon. Just who or what is she thinking about that could make her forget what she was going to ask him, blush super cute, and giggle to herself?!

Although two of those are normal parts of Tohru, there was something different about the way she did it. Maybe it was just his imagination? Or maybe it's just his damned wishful thinking. Before kyo's thoughts could go on, they reached the school gate as the first bell rang.

"Well, guess we're running to our lockers, pick up your feet you dope." he says jokingly as he takes her hand in a sprint to the school entrance. Tohru's heart skips a beat and she almost trips over her feet, hadn't it been for kyo's gentle grip on her hand keeping her upright as they ran through the schools near empty halls towards their lockers.

Reaching their first destination both teens beat record times for Asia's fastest shoe changes, and then continued to make a laughing mad dash for homeroom class. Reaching the door a minute before the bell, kyo slung the door open. The class was silent until a few of the guys pointed out their interlocked hands. The class erupts into a roar of hoops and hollers for the "happy couple".

Letting go of tohru's hand, kyo makes his way to his seat, receiving slaps on the back and thumb ups from his friends. "We were just running to class dammit!" Kyo states with a huff as he sits in his seat. Heh, him and tohru date? How absurd, like she would like a hot tempered ass hole like him, that would really make hell freeze over. *The chances aren't that slim that she could like me, Right?* The red head rests his face in his arms as his thoughts race on even as class began.

With Tohru now sitting in class beside Uo and Hana, she looked back at kyo who was now vigorously taking down notes. He seemed upset about the uproar that started before class. Was it because everyone assumed they were now a couple? The thought caused her cheeks to flush again, gaining the knowing looks from her two best friends and Yuki. Looking between all three friends, her eyes widened, *does she look that obvious*? Maybe she should talk to kyo at lunch, he always goes to the roof to be alone.

The fresh noon breeze blew through kyo's orange tresses as his mind raced with questions. Like, is it true he's the only one who received chocolate from tohru? He could ask Yuki but that was probably a death wish, I mean curiosity did kill the cat; but satisfaction brought it back. His senses went on alert as the sound of the roof door closing shot him out of his thoughts. Though he instantly relaxed when his eyes landed on the sweet sight of Tohru. "Hey, tohru." he greeted quietly as he turned back to the rail he was leaning on.

Tohru made her way over to stand beside the ginger. It was quiet for a few more seconds until tohru sighed deeply. "Thanks for the chocolate this morning." He says, not looking at her, only glancing at her for a second to see her reaction. Her face flushed, does that mean anything? Did she give the others chocolate too? Just ask her casually.

"So, uh tohru. Did you get anyone else chocolate today?" with her sweet voice like honey to his ears, she answered sweetly. "Oh, just uo and Hana. I got a small pack of Hershey kisses to give to you three cause I love uo and Hana, they're my best friends. I also-". Her rambling stops quickly and she clamps her mouth shut. "I just really wanted to get you something for valentines". She continues slowly with a crimson face.

Kyo stares at the brunette with wide eyes for a moment. An overwhelming feeling washed over him and he raised a hand to brush a few strands of her hair behind her ear. However, their moment was interrupted by a loud clamor of the roof door swinging open as the entire senior class D poured out onto the ground.

Kyo jumps away from tohru and fumes with anger, chasing after the guys as they scurried like mice into the safety of the school. Laughing out loud, uo makes her presence known as she approaches tohru along with the quiet Hana. "So, what were you two love birds talking about?" the blonde questions with a mischievous grin.

"Nothing, kyo was just thanking me for the chocolates from this morning." Tohru answers with a shy look, trying to hide her blush from her friends. Hana wiped at her eyes feigning sadness, "our little Tohru is growing up" she adds while hugging the girl in statement to her bosom. Guess she could always tell kyo her feelings this evening.

Dinner was being prepared in a leisurely pace as Tohru hummed to herself, buzzing around the kitchen. Kyo stepped into the door way and watched her quietly for a moment. She was so cute the way she steadily bounced around the kitchen. But his musing didn't last long as tohru whipped around with a cheery smile and wide eyes, having felt eyes on her.

"Good evening Kyo! Supper should be ready shortly" she says brightly, welcoming the ginger into the kitchen. "That's not why I'm in here. Actually, I had a couple of questions about the chocolate you gave me". Turning the burners down to a simmer, Tohru readied herself for what he had to ask.

"First off; why did you really want to give me chocolate specifically?" He kept his head down, looking at her through the hair that splayed over his forehead. There was a silence on them for a little while before Tohru took a deep breath in. "To show you how special you are to me." Her bright smile makes Kyo's heart flutter, creating a dark rosy hue on his cheeks that rivaled the one Tohru wore.

Clearing his throat and stuttering for a few seconds, he stepped towards her, "My second question, can I have anymore of those"? Tohru visibly tensed, an animated sweat drop gliding down the side of her head as she chuckled sheepishly. "Actually, there aren't anymore Hershey kisses".

"Y-yeah that's okay, I was just- just wondering is all". He stutters out, going to turn and walk out but was stopped by Tohru grabbing the hem of his shirt. As he turns towards the brunette, she places her hands on either sides of his jaws, cupping his face gently in her small hands.

Before Kyo could react, Tohru pulls his face down to her and barely brushes her lips to his, asking permission before merging her lips with his. He places one hand on the side of her head cradling it gently as his thumb stroked over her cheek lightly. Her lips were warm and soft and his were dry but gentle as they moved in sync for a few seconds.

They only broke contact for a second before they touched foreheads together, Tohru laughing happily. "I love you Kyo, Happy Valentines day". With wide eyes, the ginger touches his lips lightly with his fingertips. That did just happen, right? Tears bubble in his amber eyes as a smile brightens his features. He caresses tohru's face gently "I love you- so much"! he says through hiccups.

Pulling her close, he left just a small distance between them so he wouldn't transform, tohru stayed looking up at his amber eyes with her chocolate ones. "I actually kinda like chocolate kisses now" he says with a sheepish grin accompanied by a rosy hue to his cheeks.

An: This is one of the longest chapters in this book, but that is to make up for my absence. Who all is excited for the new fruits basket season two? 0w0 let me see a raise of hands paws and claws. 😁😄🐾
