Soul and maka from soul eater

"Hey Soul!" Came Maka's voice as she bounced up to the couch. Soul looks up from the TV with a bored expression, not knowing what she could possibly be excited over. Leaning over the couch, she got really close to soul with a sweet smile on her lips. "Maka, what are you-?" In an instant, she grabs his face and kisses him on the cheek. "You know your awesome right?"

A little blush dusts his ears and cheeks, the little expression of affection being new and completely random. "Are you teasing me?" She shakes her head sweetly, squatting down next to him. "No, just during class Blackstar was being an asshole saying your not even cool compared to him. He's just jealous that you're awesome and he's not even as cool as his own weapon."

Her giggle shocked the death scythe into a full on blush. Maka had never been this type of affectionate towards him before. "It's nothing new with him, why are you saying something about it now?" Her expression turns to that of annoyance and she walks over to plop down on the couch beside him. Hugging her knees to her chest, she sighs deeply.

"You're my partner and it's part of me to notice when something bothers you. Today you really seemed bothered by what Blackstar said." Soul stared at her, trying to understand her reasoning, before he started to ask what the hell she meant he remembered what had actually pissed him off this morning. Blackstar made a remark about Maka, who is way more awesome than himself let alone that asshole assassin.

"You're awesome too, Maka. Remember that when you come to tell me how awesome I am." His hand reflexively reaches out to caress her hair. The motion was always something that she seemed to appreciate. "Thank you, soul."

"No, thank you Maka."
