I'm one of them members of the track team and it sucks. My mom said that for my junior year in high school I should join a sport even though I'm about as athletic as a dying turtle. I suggested the swim team because my boyfriend is on it and all of the guys are really hot but my mom doesn't want me around a bunch of half naked guys all the time. I think it's a great idea... but whatever.

Anyway, the only thing that is worth being on the track team so far is we are having a haunted house. And not one of those half-assed ones. A real mother-effing terrifying haunted house. So I decided what it was done I could trick my boyfriend, Makoto, into going inside since he can be quite the pansy with these things.

I'm going to tell him it's just a fun house or something and have him go in. It's gonna be hilarious! I'll probably go in with him and watch his reactions. I know where all the scares will be anyway.

I got ready for bed smiling to myself evilly thinking of my plan.

The next morning I had everything planned perfectly in my head. I was going to have Haru take Makoto into the area on a walk and then I will invite Makoto into the "fun house". He will scream like a little girl and run out pulling me with and then I will laugh at him (and maybe give him a hug because he's so cute when he's terrified).

"So Haru, you in?"

"I don't know. Makoto is my friend and I don't see anything in this for me," Haru responded to my question sounding uninterested as usual.

"Fine, what if I give you some mackerel. I know it's you favorite~" I offered in a sing-songy voice. His eyes sparkled for a second in a way that most people would only when they are in love, and I smirked. "Is that a yes?"

"Yes..." Haru said looking back a the pool we were sitting by. I got up started to head home when I bumped into Makoto. He looked at me, smiled, and gave me a peck on the cheek.

"Hey (y/n), I haven't seen you all day have you been avoiding me?" He laughed and I awkwardly laughed along. I had been avoiding him so I didn't give the plan away.

'Nows the time to use the lying skills'

I gave him a small small smile. "O-of course n-not," I said shakily. I could feel the smile on my face falter when I heard my own stuttering.

'I'm usually such a good liar!! I have failed myself!!'

"(Y/n), are you hiding something from me?" I could feel my heart beating faster. This prank was not being ruined!

"No."

"Well... ok. Do you want me to walk you home?"

"Sure." Makoto grabbed my hand and smiled down at me. I smiled back.

'He's letting this go too easily.'

Both of us walked in an awkward silence until we reached my house.

"Well bye Mako..." I have him a quick peck on the cheek and ran into my house. I just couldn't take how nervous lying to him made me and it made me feel more uneasy that he didn't press on about what was wrong. Makoto always knows when something's wrong with me. He also always want to figure out what it is and won't stop until he tries to fix it. It's in his kind nature I guess.

Needless to say that night I did not get as much sleep as I would've hoped.

The next morning I had to start setting up for the haunted house. It was all mainly decorating for me. More qualified people handled the mechanics but soon it was ready and the plan was starting.

It was getting dark and I was getting impatient. I sat down by the walking trail Haru was going to walk with Makoto down but it's been about a half an hour.

'Come on I worked hard to get this perfect. Haru I swear to God if you mess this up because you saw a cool fish tank to jump in I will never forgive you!'

A couple more minutes went by and it was nearing the time to end the house but then I saw Makoto walking all by himself down the trail.

"Hey Mako, funny to see you here haha..."

'Oh God that didn't sound forced at allllll!'

"Hi (y/n), why are you here?" He said looking down at me with that adorable smile that's always on his face.

"Oh! The track team made a fun house So yeah! That's why..." I paused for a little bit, "Do you want to go in with me?" I smiled up at him.

"Sure!"

I walked to the entrance with Makoto and entered the haunted house. It was super dark and I realized Makoto probably caught on because he tensed up but kept walking so he could be brave for me. How cute. As both of us got further in I knew a bad scare was coming up so I looked up towards Makoto, waiting for his reaction.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!" Makoto screamed and ran out of the house almost in tears. He looked so utterly terrified.

That's not what I wanted I thought he would scream and I would laugh then he would too. I thought this would be fun it's not fun at all!

I ran to the opening and saw Makoto sitting on the ground holding his knees close up to his chest.

"Mako!!! I'm so sorry I didn't know you would be so scared! What was I thinking! I'm so stupid! I'm so so sorry Mako..."

I started to walk up to him until I was about a few feet away from him and Haru popped out from behind a tree to scare me.

"Ahhhhhh!!!!!"

I screamed and fell back on my ankle and onto the ground.

"Haru!? I thought you were helping me what the hell was that for!?"

"Well (y/n), this was a nice prank but I think you learned you lesson," Makoto said standing up.

"Wait wha- but Haru I promised you mackerel!" Haru then turned around and pulled out a huge cooler filled with mackerel with a tag the said "From Makoto" on it. I turned to Makoto.

"But how did you know, Mako?"

"I just know you too well, now don't I?" He crouched down to me and looked into my (e/c) eyes with his droopy green ones then gently kissed me on the lips.

"I love you (y/n)." He said then pecked my nose and offered me a hand up.

"I love you too..." I huffed out.

"Aww what's wrong?"

"Payback sucks..."

"Yes, yes it does." I grabbed his hand, but I fell back down.

"I can't stand," I whispered out, embarrassed. Makoto gave me a caring smile and lifted me up on his back. He started to head to my house as the sun slowly began to set.

I had finally arrived at (y/n)'s house and was going to just going to remind her one more time that she shouldn't prank people anymore.

"I know you love pranking people but do you see how it feels now?... (Y/n) ...(y/n)?" I set her down on one of the chairs on her porch. She was sleeping.

'Well I did feel her head hit my back a while ago.'

I lifted up the mat to get extra key she told me about in case of emergency. I unlocked the front door and picked her up. As I walked in I noticed her parents must have fallen asleep already.

'Thank God. They would probably freak out seeing a guy carrying their daughter back unconscious at night.'

I reached her room and carefully placed her into bed.

'She's so cute when she sleeps.'

She started to turn about in her sleep and groan. I could tell she was probably having a nightmare.

"Shhhh... it's ok I'm here..." I brushed my hand through her (h/c) hair.

"Mako..." she mumbled in her sleep.

"Ya."

"I love...you" she then went completely unconscious again.

I gave her a quick kiss on the forehead.

"And I love you too. Sweet dreams (y/n)." I then left her house and returned home.
