(Anime: Hunter X Hunter)

Ps. I'm following the anime story line but changing it slightly.

-Yin Flame's pov-

My village was being attacked by some creature. I was scared. My body was shaking from fear and my heart sounded like it was going to pop out of my chest any minute. My terrified mother quickly took me to safety (which was in a closet...). The closet door was slightly open, enough for me to peek through. My mother was about to check outside but a pair of claws sliced her flesh into pieces, like it was jelly. The horrifying view made me gasp but was covered by my hand.

After that, a monster entered into view. He had a human figure but wasn't human. In fact, it was a blood hound monster (I think they were called Chimera Ants). I trembled as I stared with a frightened look at my dead mother being eaten by an inhuman creature. Her fresh blood soaked the white carpet, and it felt like I could no longer breath. It was horrifying. Tears rolled down from my eyes and my hands were still covering my mouth, stopping me from making any noise.

I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, hoping it would somehow kill the creature. I wanted to close my eyes and say that this was all a dream...But...I knew it was a nightmare. A bad dream. No...This wasn't a nightmare nor a bad dream...This was reality. But after all of that, I somehow managed to keep all of that inside.

He took a few more bites and then his face twisted in disguise. Before I could take another breath, he sniffed the air. Most liking sniffing if there was anyone else he could kill and devour. His atmosphere was radiating death itself. Before I could even slowly move back of my closet to feel safe and pray that he would leave me be, his sharp, hungry eyes darted at the small opening of my closet. We made eye contact and I froze like a frozen statue and by now, my tears had already dried up.

When we made eye contact, I knew death was knocking on my door, telling me that my demise was drawing ever so closer by the second. His lips turned into a smirk. I was unable to move a muscle as he stood up and walked closer to me. He was at a distance where he could swing the door open and chop me into bits. The thought made me shiver in terror. His arm reached out and I immediately shifted to the back. To my doom. There was no escape. I was trap.

The door swung open with a small noise. All I could think was, 'I'm going to die' over and over again and my body shivered, not wanting to stop. My heart rate increased than it already did. "Well, well, well~ what do we have here~ a little child, ehhhh~?" His voice sounded like death. He licked his bloody lips. "You'll make a nice meal~" My body shook more violently than before.

"P-Please, s-spare me..." I barely spoke a whisper. He kneed down with an amusing smirk, observed my curled up position.

"Now, why would I do that~?" He finished examining me and is now staring directly at my soul, piecing it in the progress. I didn't say anything, well, not that I could anymore. Suddenly, footsteps were heard from the corridor and so, the monster stood up to look over his shoulder. This time, a cheetah Chimera Ant passed through the door way. I held my breath again. Are they going to kill me together and devour me?

"What do you want, Cheetu?" The dog growled and this so-called-Cheetu, smiled and seemed unthreatened. When Cheetu's eyes laid his eyes on mine, I was able to breathe again. I could feel the shining hope within me. 'Please save me' was written all over my face. Then something hit it. Oh, what am I thinking, I highly doubt a Chimera Ant will save their meal. My hope darkens and soon died out.

"Hey, can I have her?" Cheetu asked with a smile while the killer dog growled at him, signally him it that I wasn't up for grabs. "Come on, you already had her parents and her sister and...Some other people and I hardly had any."

"You were too slow, sh*t head." Cheetu placed his left hand on his chest with a hurt expression, though it was highly an act.

"I'm hurt, Hounda." (That's some weird name that I just made up...Sorry) Hounda snorted, looking unamused. I looked at them with a mixture of emotions on my face. There's fear, confusion and somewhat...Amused?

-Few minutes later-

Their argument went on for AGES. Actually, it was only for 2 minutes...But it felt like an internal. In the end, Cheetu won and Hounda gave me a cold glare that literally froze me into an ice block, again and walked away. Cheetu waited for a moment, perhaps waiting till Hounda completely leaves. Finally, he strolled to me and bended down.

I closed my eyes, waiting for him to kill me in an instant, or perhaps he wanted to torture me first. "So little human, what's your name?" I opened my eyes and blinked in confusion.

"W-What?" I choked out, as if I've forgotten how to speak.

"Your name, you know. What people call you."

"U-Umm, Yin Flame..." I answered in a whisper.

"Yin Flame, huh? That's an interesting name yet odd. Can I call you Yin for short?" I hesitated at first but eventually nodded. "Cool, umm, since this is your home and we...Well pretty much killed everyone, do you have anywhere to go?" I thought for a second and nodded. "Do you know where?" I nodded, not daring to say a word. "Could you tell me where??"

"Why are you helping me? Aren't I your meal?" He blinked at me then laughed. Confusion was written all over my face. He slowly stopped laughing.

"No of course not!" He said with a grin.

"Why?"

"Well, I prefer older looking people."

"Why are you helping me?" I asked slowly.

"Aren't you full of questions?" He smiled. I nodded. He thought for a bit then shrugged.

"I don't know. I just felt like it I guess?" I was expecting a straight-forward answer but I guess not. Just in case he's not lying, I looked at his eyes and he was telling the truth.

"Okay..." I replied.

"Now I have a question for you, how do you know I'm telling the truth? I am a Chimera Ant after all." I pointed at his eyes.

"Eyes don't lie..." I said quietly. He chuckled.

"You're a strange one."

"I am?" I asked while tilting my head to one side. He nodded.

"Come, let us go." I smiled and he for some reason, turned slightly pink. I raised an eyebrow.

"Are you feeling okay? You're kinda pink." I asked, looking concern.

"Uhh, yeah...Anyway, let's get you to safety. Wait, did you me where we're going?" I shook my head. "Are you going to tell me?" I nodded.

"We're going to my grandparents' house which is in the next, next town."

"Oh I see, okay, let's go." I smiled and nodded. I hopped out of my safety zone and completely forgotten about my mother's dead corpse. Sadness and horror overwhelmed me. Suddenly, a hand covered my sight. It was Cheetu's hand. "Don't look, just ignore it and keep going." His tone was sad. I nodded and he uncovered my eyes. I avoided the horrifying sight and continued my journey to my grandparents' house.

As I exited my room, my father's corpse looked as if he was brutally murdered in the kitchen. His body was in a strange position and his blood was splattered everywhere. Also, some of his body parts were detached from his main body and was thrown a bit far away from him. I only took a glimpse of his decease body and already I was shaking. A hand laid on my shoulder, which made me jump. "It's alright, I'm here." Quick as a flash, my body relaxed.

"Thank you, Cheetu..." I felt his smile upon me. Outside of my home wasn't as bad as in my home. Probably because there wasn't many corpse being expose by my eyes. As we walked outside of my town, it was really quiet.

"So...How old are you?" He asked to start a conversation.

"14." I replied.

"Oh really? I thought you were 10." He laughed a bit.

"Was that an insult?" I slightly glared at him because of his 'comment.'

"Of course not~ it's a compliment~" He smiled, unthreatened by my slight glare. I raised an eyebrow.

"Exactly how was it a compliment?"

"It means you look younger~"

"Hmm, I guess it is a compliment after all..." I muttered.

"Or maybe it's both~" Cheetu smiled cheekily.

"Are you trying to provoke me?" I asked with another slight glare. He raised his hands up, just below his shoulder.

"Hey, I'm just saying."

"Uh-huh, sure..." He chuckled at my facial expression and his chuckle caused me to giggle along with him too.

-Time passed-

The sun was setting and my legs was starting to feel like jelly. Also, the slight cold breeze wasn't helping either. "Do you want to rest over there?" He pointed at a tree near the pathway. I nodded as another breeze blew at my already-frozen-ish-body. We sat under the tree and there was a small-ish gap between us. I hugged my legs to keep myself warm. Cheetu saw my actions and automatically shifted his body next to mine so he was able to put me between his legs. "There, now you're warm, right?" I raised my head and lightly smiled.

"Thank you, Cheetu." I sweetly said and basically fell asleep on his chest. Also, I was unable to see his response after I said that.

I'M SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING IN SO LONG >~< I guess it's because I procrastinate a lot...I'm sorry, I'm a bad author I know TT^TT Also, I'm starting to make my one shots too long to the point where I need to make a part 2, I apologize. Again, I hope u guys can forgive me and I guess that's all I have to say
