I walked down to my parents, who were watching my brothers sleeping. I sat with them, my hands clenching my dress.

"I need to leave," They both wanted to protest but I stopped them. "I need help. I can't let this happen again. It will be worse than a simple burn, I could kill someone. I won't get help here. I need the help of a wizards guild. I'm sure there's someone that can teach me control." My mother cried as she felt what I was saying.

"It is your choice love. We will support you." Ma spoke with tears falling and a soft smile.

"You got that right. We'll make sure you have everything you need before you leave. And when you're ready, you come home sweet. We'll wait for you." Pa stood up crying harder than Ma. Hugging me tight, afraid to let me go. Ma came around and hugged me just as tight.

"You got to leave sissy?" My brother asked from the bed, I walked over and sat down.

"Yes, I need to. I will get some help with my flames and come home a new woman. So you have to be the elder sibling now. Look after the boys and yourself. I'll be home before you know it." He smiled as did I.

The next day, Ma had made quite a bit of food for my journey as the nearest guild was in Magnolia, 100 miles away. She said I had to make the trip last for two days. She didn't want me tired before arriving. Pa was gathering a good bag to carry everything as he insisted on making sure I had everything for any emergency. He even found me a sword in case of monsters. My brothers were having fun helping my parents. I was looking at my home, the only place I'd known. This is something that needs to be done. I needed help and I was gonna get it. Ma was done and so was Pa. It was a bit past midday when my family was gathered outside the house. Ma was trying not to cry while Pa was crying.

"You have plenty of food and the boys have gathered plenty of water. I packed you four pairs of clothes and two pairs of shoes. There's a tent and blanket. I know it's a lot but we want you to be prepared for anything." I understand why Ma was so cautious, I was the first child to leave home.

"Thank you Ma and I'll be very careful. I should arrive at Magnolia in less than two days. I'm sure there's someone there who can help me. So worry not family."

"Can't ask us not to worry. You're our baby girl and you're going off on your own. But I'll be strong for you, you're my kid after all. You have the strength of the sun," Pa smiled through his tears.

"Remember, behave for brother while I'm gone. Ma and Pa will be working so they'll need help. Be their helpers." They all smiled while nodding their heads. I hugged them all giving my brothers kisses on their heads. "I love you all, I'll be back soon."

I began my journey, looking back and giving the final wave. They all cheered me on as I started walking. The road was quiet for the most part aside from the passing cart. I walked until close to sunset, I set up camp with a small fire to cook some of the meat Ma gave me. It was odd sleeping under the stars in such a way, they are very beautiful. A moment later I could hear something moving in the distance. My heart started beating in my ears again as my bonfire started to grow. Then out of nowhere, a man fell out of the woods landing on the other side of the fire. He groaned as he rubbed his head.

"Are you okay?" I asked as he lifted his head.

"Yeah, I couldn't really see anything."

"It's okay. Um why are you naked?"

"When did that happen?!" He shouted as I laughed at his remark. He looked at me with wide eyes as he smiled softly. "You have a cute laugh." I blushed and looked at the fires seeing it growing a bit too big.

"Oh sorry about that," I waved my hand over to make the flames calm down.

"Fire magic?"

"Flame actually. If it was fire it would be easier to manage but I hadn't had a problem with it until now."

"What do you mean? You seem to be having good control over it."

"Now, not two days ago. I hurt my brother and need help to control it completely. So I don't hurt my family again."

"I get it. Well, where are you heading?"

"Magnolia. I'm hoping to find someone in the guild there to help me. That or take away this, magic." He watched as I sounded disgusted when I used the word magic.

"Well, I come from Fairy Tail so I can think of a few who can help," I was shocked to find a member in the woods.

"Really?" I looked into my hands. "Could you maybe introduce me to anyone that can help me?"

"Sure, I'm Gray," he reached out for my hand, and I smiled softly.

"I'm Y/N, nice to meet you, Gray." I shared the meat and a coat Ma had packed.

The next day Gray walked with me all the way to the guild. We talked as he told me about the people in the guild. He talked about those who had fire magic and those who could simply train me. He even uncle himself, showing me his Maker Magic. Creating a small hammer, I was amazed. As the day went on, I noticed that my flames weren't acting up and how nice it felt to be near him. His ice was keeping me cool and it felt amazing. We arrived later that day in Magnolia, it was a busy city and covered in flowers. It was beautiful. He walked us right to the guild, it was loud and things were flying around. It was a shock at first but it honestly felt like home.

"Let's get you to Gramps, he's the Master of the guild and he'll be the right person to talk to."

"Thank you, Gray I appreciate it so much."

"No problem, thanks for the coat." I smiled before beginning my talk to the master.

It was some time later after I got settled in and the Master told me about the members who could help me. He did mention Gray being a capable Ice Wizard who could help me. I had the night to choose so I'll begin my training tomorrow. I just finished unpacking in the dormitory when I felt it. The heat started rising fast, I rushed outside as fast as I could. Looking for an open area where I wouldn't hurt anyone. Lucky for me, the river wasn't far off. The moment my flame burst, I jumped in. A huge burst of water went into the air, as I soon resurfaced. "Can you use one arm to hold yourself on the wall while I get out?"

"Yes." I held on as he got out, reaching down for my arm. He was able to get me up before cradling me in his arms as we both panted.

"What happened? I saw you running than whatever that was."

"It's my magic. It's becoming more frequent and giving out more power. I could feel it coming and I knew it was gonna be big. This one is the worst so far, I think the existing force may have done a bit more damage." He checked my arm, seeing the dark bruises already forming. 

"We have to get you to Wendy or someone to get those looked at." 

He helped me up, still cradling my arm. He helped me to the dormitory to find Wendy. Wendy came and helped my arm. She was worried, along with many of the other ladies. Gray didn't leave me the whole time, he hung back in the corner but he didn't take his eyes off me. I looked back and saw the concern in his eyes, I smiled softly. When I was cleared to head back to my room, Gray walked me there. We walked into the hall in silence. 

"Does this happen often?" He looked at my arm, light bruising was still visible. 

"A bit when I was young, small ones. This was the worst one so far, as well as that burst. But hopefully, with training, this will be the last time." We arrived at my door, we lingered for a moment in silence. "Gray, I have an odd question."

"What's up?" He leaned against the wall and played with his necklace.

"What were you doing in these parts? As this is the girl's dormitory and it's an odd time of night?" I looked at him with a head tilt, he was blushing.

"I wanted to see you." He said it, plain and simple. "I don't understand it but I like seeing you." He was blushing even more while looking away. I smiled at him and began feeling the heat rising again. 

"Gray it's happening again." His eyes widened as he grabbed ahold of me, worried about where to go. He thought quickly and started to freeze the whole hall. It was cold, even in the rising heat I could feel his cold. I breathed in deeply and caught his scent. It was intoxicating, my face was shoved into his chest so I caught a lot of his scent. The flame was going down and I was able to breathe without restriction. "It's leaving."

"We may need to find a better method to keep this flame in check. Um, if you would be comfortable with it, I could stay here with you. I'll lay on the floor but I'll be there to make sure nothing happens." 

"That sounds lovely." We walked into the room and settled in for the night. I felt bad if he slept on the floor, especially if he was going through all this trouble for me. "Gray, if you want you can come onto the bed. I don't mind, I feel bad if you're down there." He thought about it and knew it was best not to argue with a lady. I moved over and let him slide in, no shirt of course. I discovered that is something that happens often. He lay down before thinking for a moment.

"Can I put my arm over you? It should be better for me to keep the flames at bay." I paused for a moment and said yes. His cold arm lay over my stomach and tucked his body close to me. I could feel him sniff my neck before softly sighing. "You smell nice." 

It was like something else came over him and without notice, he pressed his whole face into my shoulder and inhaled. I lay still, thinking this was going to set off the flames but his cold temperature was holding it down. Soon something came over me, and I rolled over to meet his gaze. "Thank you for looking after me Gray. Truth be told, I was scared to be making this journey on my own. I've never been away from home and this was my first time leaving so I was terrified. But meeting you, your ice it all seemed to calm my nerves in ways I didn't know could happen. And no I don't find it creepy, it's sweet actually." I kissed his lips softly. "Now I believe we have a certain someone waiting for attention as I can feel him pressing against my stomach."
