Entry Two

The truck stopped and it's horns blared. I woke up with a start. I looked out a window. I've read about these places! They had big metal carts that you could ride in, and other rides. I wondered if it had a carousel. The parking lot was like a mini town itself.

"We are here." Joker announced. He got out of the truck, and I looked for Divakar. I frowned, not finding him in the crowed. I piled out with everyone else.

I looked around at everything. So much was going on!

"Welcome to my base. I would like you to follow me, I'll show you the place you will be staying for the time being. As while as explain the job."

Joker lead us to a sort of apartment. We step onto a platform and he pushed a button. The floor shifted and we started going up. I lose my balance a bit but didn't fall (thankfully). Once it stopped we all piled out. "This place is called the Star."

I looked around for Divakar. Not seeing him I sat down on the left side of the room, to listen to what Joker had to say.

Joker cleared his throat.

I sat up straighter.

He smiled. "What belongs to you but others use it more then you do?" He laughed softly. "So all of you followed me here to accept a job. A high paying job, but a dangerous one. Then after the job, I'll give you a chance. No one ever gave me a chance.

"You are here at my base, the parking lot. This place, however, is much bigger then the parking lot. He took out a map.

"We are in the blue." He said pointing to the parking lot. "There's a gate, that once open leads to the gift shop. The gift shop is in the middle of everything, but it's filled with super mutants. The job is to clear the park. We will take the gift zone and turn it into a trading center. The children zone will become a living zone. The safari zone, a training zone, and the space zone will have our crops." Joker cleared his throat again. "I studied this place for a while. I know it has all the resources we need to become very wealthy. I have 1,000 for each of you, then another 1,000 once the job is done."

I sucked my breath in.

"Now taking the zones won't be so easy." He said. "As I said before the gift zone is filled with supermuants. Strong, dumb, bastards hate humans. The space zone is taken over by machines, you will need to find the key, then the generator and power the park back up. This will also reboot the bots, making them friendly. Child zone has zombie like creatures a a mysterious fog. You will have to get rid of the fog and clear the area. Lastly, I'm not sure what's going on in the safari zone. Any scout teams I've sent never came back. That's the most dangerous zone."

"Now," Joker said, "we don't need to take over the whole park in just a day. We will focus on one zone at a time, and have a rest before we go to the next. So we will start planing for the first zone. The gift zone as I said, is full of those super mutants. There's only one way for us to get in and it'll be these big gates we closed and barricade the mutants inside."

I looked around once more trying to find someone, anyone, I knew. My breath hitched when I couldn't spot anyone.

I scratched at the skin on my arms nervously, and tried to disguise it as keep warm. My foot tapped on the floor.

I put my hands over my ears, trying to block out the sounds coming from around me. I didn't like the smells either. I closed my eyes and tried to breathe right. Dang it. Why did this have to happen now.

Someone put their hand on my shoulder and I flinched. "Lynx, it's Rei." She said softly.

I opened my eyes, looking behind Rei first, then back at her. "Hi," I said quietly.

"What's wrong?" Rei asked, keeping her voice down. "Leo will be here soon, he was right behind me a few seconds ago."

I shook my head. "Too loud." Too many things happening at once. I tried to clam myself down. It had been awhile since my sensory issues acted up. But they were back and I couldn't stand it. Rei had said Divakar was coming? Nonono. He can't see this! If he did he'd never let me take the job with him. I tried to pull my thoughts back together, lowering my hands onto my lap and tried my best to smile.

Divakar finally popped out from the crowd and frowned. "What happened?" He asked, looking at Rei.

"Hey, we can go somewhere quieter if you want." She said, then turned to Divakar. "She just said it was too loud, nothing else."

"I'm fin—" I tried to insist, but right then glass hit glass. I could tell how far away too, right in the back left corner of the room.

Divakar cringed. "Sensory overload." He opened his pouch and dug around, taking out two ear plugs. He handed them to me and I frowned but put them in. He then dug farther into his pouch and pulled out a pill bottle labeled 'MEL'.

"They said there were beds here, right?" He asked. He looked at me, holding the pill up, "Would you need these?"

I shook my head. Divakar nodded and held them out to Rei, "you need these more then us."

Rei took them with a quiet "thank you."

"Let's find the beds." Divakar offered, side glancing Rei. "It should be quieter there."

Rei nodded again, her wings trailing on the ground. I tilted my head. That normally wasn't a good sign.

Divakar frowned, but nodded for me to get up. When I did he took my hand in his left and offered his right hand to Rei, who took it without a word.

Divakar held the my hand tightly as he pushed his way through the crowd. After a minute we managed to find the rooms, and let go of our hands as we entered one together.

I blinked. A bed... that weren't on the ground? I walked over to it and flopped on top of it. It bounced slightly. Fun!! I crawled onto the bed the rest of the way and sat down, rocking back and forth so the bed bounced a bit. The room was so much better then any camp we've had in the past. A part of me missed the sky though.

Rei came up to the bed and practically collapsed into it, making me bounce up slightly. My ears twitched as she mumbled something that I couldn't hear because of the ear plugs.

Divakar smiled. He sat on the floor and pulled out some hand made cards, and began to shuffle them. I remember when he made them! They were based off a game he told me about.

I sat up, climbing off the bed. I joined him on the floor and he started dealing for two. He looked up at Rei with a small smile before starting the game.

I smiled. My senses had calmed down and I felt a lot better. I was honestly glad Rei and Divakar found me before it got too bad. I picked up my cards before picking up one that Divakar had just laid down and then laid down one of my own.
