Divakar's Journal - Entry Two
Okay scratch what I said about over laps. XD
When the truck honked I shot up. Everyone was piling out, but I couldn't find Nova. I just hoped she was following every one else.
We were in some sort of amusement park, but it wasn't like any I had seen. He took us across the parking lot and into a building. Then into an elevator.
I tried to find my sister in the elevator, but I still couldn't see her. I filed out with everyone else into the place Joker called 'the star.'
I looked around for Nova. Not seeing her I sat down on the right side of the room, to listen to what Joker had to say.
Joker cleared his throat.
I sat up straighter.
He smiled. "What belongs to you but others use it more then you do?" He laughed softly. "So all of you followed me here to accept a job. A high paying job, but a dangerous one. Then after the job, I'll give you a chance. No one ever gave me a chance.
"You are here at my base, the parking lot. This place, however, is much bigger then the parking lot. He took out a map.
"We are in the blue." He said pointing to the parking lot. "There's a gate, that once open leads to the gift shop. The gift shop is in the middle of everything, but it's filled with super mutants. The job is to clear the park. We will take the gift zone and turn it into a trading center. The children zone will become a living zone. The safari zone, a training zone, and the space zone will have our crops." Joker cleared his throat again. "I studied this place for a while. I know it has all the resources we need to become very wealthy. I have 1,000 for each of you, then another 1,000 once the job is done."
My jaw dropped. That was a lot.
"Now taking the zones won't be so easy." He said. "As I said before the gift zone is filled with supermuants. Strong, dumb, bastards hate humans. The space zone is taken over by machines, you will need to find the key, then the generator and power the park back up. This will also reboot the bots, making them friendly. Child zone has zombie like creatures a a mysterious fog. You will have to get rid of the fog and clear the area. Lastly, I'm not sure what's going on in the safari zone. Any scout teams I've sent never came back. That's the most dangerous zone."
"Now," Joker said, "we don't need to take over the whole park in just a day. We will focus on one zone at a time, and have a rest before we go to the next. So we will start planing for the first zone. The gift zone as I said, is full of those super mutants. There's only one way for us to get in and it'll be these big gates we closed and barricade the mutants inside."
"If that's all, I'm going to sleep." I heard Rei's voice say.
I noticed Rei and quickly followed after her, "Rei! Rei?" I asked, trying to get her attention.
Rei turned around, "Hm? Oh, what's up Leo?"
Her wings were folded against her back, and there were bags under her eyes.
"Have you..." I began, only to stop myself. I frowned. "Looked in a mirror recently? You look like didn't catch a wink on the truck."
"I didn't sleep." She sighed, avoiding my gaze.
I frowned. If we were going to be fighting creatures and running for our lives, not taking care of ourselves was not an option. I decided to ignore the fact that she told me she would go to sleep hours ago. "Is there anyway I can help with that? I have some melatonin left from my last market run."
"Unless you can suddenly make all the people disappear, then there's not much you can do. I didn't sleep because there were too many people I didn't know or trust around." Rei said, fiddling with her necklace. "I was just heading to a place without people so I could actually sleep for a couple of hours. And I'm used to running on a few hours of sleep anyway."
"Heh." I chucked a bit. I could see were she was coming from, and regretted not offering to keep guard on the truck. "You're starting to sound like Lynx."
Rei smiled tiredly as she leaned against the wall, "Yeah, I guess I am."
Divakar smiled a bit. Then he frowned. "I came over to ask you something, but I can't remember what."
"Well, you can always ask me when you remember." Rei offered.
"No, no, no, this is going to kill me if I don't remember." I said rubbing my knuckles on my forehead, going over everything I had done since I woke up. I looked at my pouch and opened it. I had everything, even my journal. Wait. Journal... diary... "Lynx! I was going to ask you if you've seen Lynx!"
"Lynx? Yeah, I think I saw her. She was on the opposite side of the room to you, if I remember correctly." Rei frowned. "She didn't look too good, she seemed a bit anxious. I can take you to where I saw her if you want."
"Please. Oh god. I'm awful. I should have never brought her along. Or maybe it's good she's here. I don't know anymore. I can't believe I've lost my own sister." I felt sick to my stomach thinking about it now. I'd have to keep a better eye on her.
"Leo, stay clam. Come on." She said softly, pushing off the wall she was leaning against and starting to walk through the crowd.
I took a deep breath before following closely behind Rei. But someone bumped into to me, blocking me from her. I growled and grit my teeth together.
I finally managed to push my way through. I frowned when I saw Nova's face. She was grimacing. God, was she hurt? "What happened?" I asked, looking to Rei. I knew she'd be more likely to tell the truth.
"Hey, we can go somewhere quieter if you want," Rei said softly. She turned to look at me. "She just said it was too loud, nothing else."
"I'm fin—" Nova tried to insist but her ears titled backwards, and her tail twitched on the bench. Dead giveaway.
I cringed. "Sensory overload." I opened my pouch and dug around, taking out two ear plugs. I handed them to Nova, who frowned but took them. I then dug farther into the pouch and pulled out a pill bottle labeled 'MEL'. This should help Rei.
"They said there were beds here, right?" I asked no one in particular. I looked at Nova, holding the pill bottle up, "Would you need these?"
Nova shook her head. I nodded and held them out to Rei, "you need these more then us."
Rei took them with a quiet, "thank you."
"Let's find the beds." I offered, side glancing Rei. She looked like she needed sleep. And bad. "It should be quieter there."
Rei nodded. Her wings were on the ground at this point, which had me worried. She looked like she was going to collapse.
I gave Rei a look and frowned, but nodded for Nova to get up. I took Nova's hand in my left offered my right hand to Rei so we wouldn't get separated again.
When Rei took my hand I tightened my grip on both of them, to be absolutely sure we wouldn't get split. After a minute I managed to find the rooms and we piled into one, not wanting to leave each other. I let go of their hands.
Nova walked over to the bed and flopped on to it, bouncing slightly. Her eyes lit up and she crawled onto the bed the rest of the way and sat down, rocking back and forth so the bed bounced a bit.
I shook my head, smiling slightly. I forgot she'd never been in a normal bed before. I huffed and looked back at Rei, who walked up to the bed and practically collapsed into it, making Nova bounce up slightly.
"Don't leave me alone." She mumbled after getting comfortable.
I smiled, glad to see both of them relaxed. I sat on the floor and pulled out some hand made cards, and began to shuffle them. I had made them based of a game I read about once. It was called 'Five Crowns'.
Nova perked up, climbing off the bed. She joined me on the floor and I started dealing for two. I looked up at Rei one last time before starting the game. I was glad she was finally getting some sleep.
I laid down my first card and Nova picked up her's. After a second she picked up one that I had just laid down before laying down one of her own. I smiled, glad we finally got to play again.
