The next night, Sally left our dormitory to go to the library. I knew this because she'd said that she wanted a book earlier in the day when we were having just ordinary lessons. Let me tell you, ordinary school subjects are so dull compared to practising Creatarr powers. But anyway, when Sally had left our dormitory, Belle rushed off to steal the amulets we would need. I waited in anticipation until she came rushing back, struggling to contain her laughter. She flopped on her bed and rolled with laughter.

"what's so funny?" I asked her, curious.

Belle giggled,
"To get the amulets, I played at breaking a toe nail and the teaching assistant who was in Firebirds's study was all like 'What on earth is this child doing?' You should've seen her face!" she laughed.

I told Belle,
"Now we have the amulets, don't we need to act quickly to follow Sally?"

"Yes, we do." Belle stopped laughing." You're a really useful person to have on your side you know Melissa. Okay, here's two blue amulets. 1 for me and the other's yours."

She pressed a blue amulet into my open hand. I slipped on the amulet carefully and then there was a problem. How do we catch an animal to travel in the mind of? All of a sudden, I heard people rummaging in their bags. I looked behind me and saw the other girls hand us hairs.

"Hold the cat hairs, Melissa and when you travel in the mind of the animal these hairs belong to, the animal will teleport here, returning home after you go back to human."
The girls explained.

I grasped the cat hairs tightly and on seeing Belle do so too for her cat hairs, I shut my eyes. I felt strange for a moment, like wearing clothes that didn't fit and then a lot warmer than I was before I did this. Opening my eyes, I saw lines at the side of my vision.

"Whiskers!" I thought immediately.
"I'm travelling in the mind of a cat!"

I padded over to Belle who was also now a tortoiseshell cat. I meowed at her and she mewed back. When she mewed something in my head worked, and I automatically knew what she meant.
"Awesome! This is so cool!" was what that meow meant.

"Cool!" I thought. " I can understand animal language when I am an animal!"

I mewed to to Belle and we both went to the dormitory door, looking at the other girls.

"They want out!" they exclaimed, opening the door.

Then Belle and I crept out of the room, going silently on our padded paws. We approached the library and slipped into an unused cardboard box. I suppose it was cat instinct really, Cats do like boxes a lot after all. But anyway, we saw Sally go over to a librarian and suddenly burst into tears. She cried,
"Miss Jura, I'm really worried! I overheard Miss Firebird say something and now there'll be a disaster!" she sobbed.

I started to swish my tail angrily. So something bad was going to happen! But what was going to happen? And why hasn't she told anyone? Does she have a part to play in this? I thought in my head, I saw Belle's cat eyes widen when we heard this.

"And the worst thing is, I cannot tell anyone! Or the whole school will be in panic and that would be so awful!" She sobbed.

Miss Jura, who I assumed must be a librarian because she was carrying books, told her to calm down. She handed her a book which she said 'is very relaxing'. Sally thanked her and sat down in one of the comfy leather chairs, reading her book whilst surrounded by bookshelves. Knowing we could be there a while, we decided to leave. We had the necessary information, now all we needed to do was get back to our dormitory without being seen. Belle and I padded out of our box and sauntered over to the library door, ready to slip out, when Sally looked up from her book. That's when she saw the paw-print symbol on our fur. Sally dropped her book and raced over to the library door. She slammed it shut so hard the book shelves shook and rattled.

"Two eavesdroppers I see in animal form! Come on, I won't let you out unless you reveal yourselves!" she said fiercely.

I looked at Belle. Belle looked at me. We were caught. I mewed at Belle,

"We've no choice but to change back! We can't chicken out!"

Belle nodded and we both closed our eyes. A wave of relief came over me, like taking off a jacket on a hot day, then I opened my eyes, back to being human. I saw Belle beside me, back to being human and hanging her head.

"Belle and Melissa? Why were you listening in on my chat with Miss Jura?" Sally requested.

Belle and I replied,
"We were wondering why you were all secretive so suddenly. You must be hiding a secret. There's no other explanation. Please tell us what it is! We're really worried."

Sally replied,
"It's something too horrible to think about let alone say. But it's alright because the teachers say these people won't know about us. When they come in 7 months time, they won't know we're here. We will be safe." she replied shakily, adding
"don't worry about me. I am only a little tense, that's all."Sally told us.

Then we all left the library and snuck back into our dormitory, 45 minutes after lights out.
