Chapter One

I lay in my bed, flipping to the next page of my comic book. I yawn, liking the peace and quiet. My family had gone to the new juice shop downtown. I am not a juice person, so I stayed home. They've been there longer than expected. They said around 20 minutes and they'd be back.

They've been there 2 hours.

The door opens. "We're ho-ome!" My mom says. "Come help us put some things in the fridge!" I walk outside and look at the van. It is full of bottles of juice. My sister, Cassie is struggling to get out. That's how full it was.

Cassie runs up to me. "You have got to try the juice it has no caffeine or sugar and it's just the best thing in the world you just have to try it!" I roll my eyes. "Are you SURE it doesn't?" She nods, jumping up and down rapidly, and runs inside.

I grab a few bottles of juice. They seem to be the size of a Large Soda, each. Probably enough to drink in a day, for people who really like it. And it seems addictive, as my family has shown.

I grab four, two in each hand. Slowly, me and my dad bring them in. After half an hour, the car is empty of juice.

"Why don't you come inside and try some juice, Caleb?" My dad asks me. "I'm good. I'm going to shoot some hoops. I grab a ball and shoot some hoops.

Fifteen minutes later, I walk inside. They are all sitting at the counter, dip ringing juice. I notice one bottle is three-fourths of the way gone.

"Come on Caleb, let's have some juice." My mom says. "I'll have some milk." I say, getting some milk. "More for us!" Cassie chirps. Afterwards, she chirps again. Literally chirps. Like a bird. I don't say anything, but my parents don't question it.
