Animal I Have Become [PreciousMetalShipping]
He bit down on his struggling victim's neck, with a hand over their mouth to keep them from screaming or attracting attention. His fangs pierced their skin, which allowed him to suck out their warm blood. He enjoyed the taste and the feeling of it trickling down his throat, but however...he hating killing people just to feed himself. Scratch that; he just hated killing. He never asked to be like this; he just wishes to be a normal human being, not a blood sucking monster. But he had to kill to survive, and he couldn't just take a little and leave, or else his prey would run and get the hunters, and kill him the most painful way possible.
He felt his prey go limp in his arms, and once he made sure he was finished, he dropped the body. Now comes the hardest part; finding a place to hide the body. He can't just leave it out here; that's a dead give away that he was there. Just as obvious as painting, "Vampire was here," on the wall in blood.
After wiping the blood off his face with the sleeve of his cloak, he grabbed the dead body by the leg and dragged it further down the alley. Maybe he'll just throw it in a trash bag and put it in this dumpster. That'll do for now... He opened the dumpster, cringing at the smell of it, and opened one of the larger bags. He stuffed the body inside, not caring if they were comfortable. Closing the bag, he quickly and quietly shut the dumpster.
Now glad that was over with, he left the alley, trying to look as alive as possible. He took his cloak off, which was only there to hide his usual clothing and his hair. His bright red hair wouldn't exactly be easy to hide. His black jacket still made him look pale, but whatever, he was still pale as a ghost when he was alive anyways. He continued to wear the black gloves one of his old close friends made for him. Too bad he can't see any of his old friends, considering they all think he was murdered years ago. Well, he could, but they'd probably freak out if someone who was killed just showed up at their door and said, "Hey! I'm not completely dead! Let's be friends again!"
His throat was still dry, and he craved more. Just one more person? He growled mentally. 'What are you thinking, two people in one night? That's crazy!' The redhead always tried to keep his diet down to one person a night, no matter how thirsty he got. He could drink and eat normal food, but it had no flavor to him and wasn't filling at all.
Silver eyes looked around, scanning each individual, seeing who would be his next victim.
Meanwhile, a very much alive teen was wandering the streets alone at night. Did he care if he was in possible danger? Of course not. He was part of a group of hunters, who fought and killed monsters. Because of that, he thought he was strong and shouldn't be scared of them. The thing is, he's never actually fought a monster.
People always warned him about how he shouldn't be so carefree, and that he's going to get himself killed that way, but did he ever listen to them? Well duh, no he didn't. I just said he's carefree; as in he doesn't give a damn. Our little vampire could pop up right in front of him and he wouldn't give a damn.
He was heading home, after visiting his mothers house (who of course worried about him leaving the house at such a late hour). Nothing to defend himself with, of course... This just had to be the one night that someone was watching him, ready to strike soon.
Once he got home and inside, he locked the door behind him. Otherwise he'd get quite the talking to from his mother. Throwing his bag down on his couch, he started heading upstairs.
He switched on the lights, and revealed the vampire standing in his room, waiting for him. The black haired boy looked him up and down, not looking the least bit afraid. The redhead raised an eyebrow, expecting a reaction.
"What? Aren't you scared?" He hissed.
"Me? Scared? Don't you know who I am?"
"Don't know, don't care."
"You know, you should be more careful about who you're about to feed on next. They could be a hunter."
"Wait...you...you're a hunter?" The vampire backed up, scared. He heard about what happened to vampires that got caught by a hunter. They would be tied up outside in the sunlight, burning until they're turned to dust. Its not like in a movie when it happens quickly; its about the same thing if you burn a human body in fire. Slowly and painfully.
"Yep! Gold's the name, hunting's the game! You better be scared!" Gold smirked, inching closer and closer to him. "Why don't you be polite and tell me your name, maybe I won't kill you if you're kind to me."
"I'm Silver..." The redhead replied, backing up each time Gold got closer.
"Nice to meet ya, Silver!" Gold smiled, sticking his hand out. He wasn't going to mention it, but he feels like he's heard the name Silver before. He can't quite put his finger on it, but he knows its familiar somehow.
Silver flinched, not expecting the friendly gesture. Hesitating, he shook hands with the hunter. Gold was actually a little surprised to feel how cold Silver's hand was.
"Aw, come on. Don't be scared." Gold pouted. "Take off that silly cloak and relax a bit."
"What? No, I'm keeping it on. The last thing I need is for a hunter to know what I look like."
"But look!" Gold said, spreading his arms out wide. "I'm unarmed!"
"I'm ugly." Silver said, looking for excuses.
"Come on, I know for a fact that vampires aren't unattractive. You need to be attractive to draw in prey, correct?"
"I suppose...I mean, I don't really know...no one really taught me how to be a vampire really so I just go along with it..."
Gold put his arms down. "You mean you didn't grow up with a vampire family or anything?"
"Of course not. My family is alive. I've only been this way for a few years." Silver said, looking down sadly. "They all believe I was murdered."
"You were human once...?" The black haired boy asked, now feeling kind of sorry.
"Some were born vampires, and some were forced to turn into one."
"...They never told us this in training...They told us that you and all other monsters were cold heart-ed killers, who didn't care about people. They never said that some of them were once people themselves..."
"Tch, don't care about people? Do you know how much I hate killing just to feed myself?!" Silver shouted. "It burns me to know that those are real people, with families and friends!" He kept his head down to hide the tears that were building up inside of him for years. "Why am I even telling you all of this...just kill me already."
"Kill you? I can't kill you now...knowing what kind of pain you've been going through..." Gold said, sitting on the bed. He patted the space besides him, offering Silver a place to sit.
The redhead didn't sit down though. He didn't trust Gold yet. "Why am I telling you this...one of us should have attacked by now."
Gold remained quiet for a little bit. "...If you want to, then go ahead. I'm not gonna stop you."
Silver hesitated, thinking it was a trap, but he was thirsty for more, and had to. It happened so quickly, Gold couldn't even register it. In a split second, Silver had him pinned down on the bed, with his teeth next to the other boy's neck.
"...Can I at least see what you look like without the cloak on, you know, before you kill me?" Gold asked.
Silver sighed. "What is up with you and wanting to know what I look like." It wasn't really a question, more of a, 'what the fuck,' kind of thing. But he did pull off his cloak, throwing it aside.
"Well hello sexy." The golden eyed boy said, smirking.
"W-What??" Silver stuttered. "I am not sexy!"
"Hmm...you're right. You're more of the cute type." Gold said. "Wait, so vampires can blush?"
Silver took his hands off of Gold, and immediately covered his cheeks. "I'm not blushing!"
"Aww, how cute!"
"I said I'm not cute! I am a creature of the night! You're suppose to be scared of me!"
Gold quickly wrapped his arms around the vampire, pulling him down besides him. "You're so cute, it's scary!" He laughed.
Silver hissed at him, baring his fangs. Gold only nuzzled his cheek against Silver's head, messing up his red hair even more than it was. Silver eventually gave up, letting the human boy do whatever. Secretly, he enjoyed it though. Gold was warm, and it comforted Silver. His skin was always ice cold, and he never could find a nice source of heat.
"I'm gonna keep you here and feed you, and hug you, and play with you, and never let you go!" Gold said.
"Sounds like hell." Silver mumbled.
"Don't be that way..." Gold poked Silver's cheek, who only turned his head to try and bite his finger.
"Bad Silver! No biting!"
"I don't know if you've noticed, but it's kinda my job to bite people." He sighed.
"You're hungry, aren't you?"
"No shit."
"Then eat a Snickers bar; you're angry when you're hungry." Gold laughed.
Silver growled, who finally had enough of this foolishness and broke out of Gold's death hug. He pinned his arms down and had Gold on his stomach, and had one knee on the human's back.
"H-Hey! I was only kidding!"
"You said you would feed me; this surely must be what you meant."
Gold could feel Silver's fangs against his neck, and he was actually scared. All those years of thinking he would be able to fight a monster without failing came back and bit him in the neck, quite literally.
Gold gasped and held back his screams as he felt Silver bite through his skin, and started to drain him of his blood.
But as quickly as it came; he stopped. Gold felt Silver pull away, and release him. Before lifting his head, he could hear the door opening, and Silver leaving.
'That was it?' Gold thought. 'But I'm still alive, and he just leaves??' He put a hand to his neck, and sure enough, he could feel his warm blood pouring down his neck. Sitting up, he didn't even feel dizzy. Silver didn't even drink enough to make him feel faint. But...why?
Silver came back, who apparently only went to Gold's bathroom to grab some cotton and gauze, and some medicines.
"You didn't kill me?" Gold asked, pretty confused.
"Shut up and sit still." Silver said, placing everything down on the bed. Sitting down next to him, he leaned closer to Gold and licked the remaining blood off. He applied the cream, to prevent infection, and put the cotton on Gold's neck where he was bit. To keep the cotton in place, he wrapped the gauze comfortably around Gold's neck.
"There, see, you're not dead." Silver said, licking whatever blood was left on his lips.
"But, why? I'm a hunter, and you let me live?"
"I don't even know...maybe because no one's talked to me like that in a long time. I miss being able to talk to someone like that..."
"...If you promise not to kill me, then I promise not to kill you."
"...Fine, alright. I promise. Now get some rest, it's late. For you anyways."
"Are you gonna come back tomorrow?"
"Yeah...of course."
"Alright then, see ya later, Silv."
Silver snatched up his cloak before waving a goodbye to Gold, and leaving.
---
The following night, Gold decided to go visit some friends before Silver came back. But incase if he didn't show up on time, Gold left a note to Silver.
He went to the lab nearby, and his friend's, who were hunters like him, were always there. Some had to go on patrol, so they weren't there. The only ones there were Blue, Crystal, Green, and Red. Crystal always stayed in the lab though, to monitor everyone's progress. Blue, Green, and Red were the three best hunters, and I guess they had a break tonight.
Green was only a hunter because his grandfather used to be a legendary hunter, so he followed in his footsteps. Red wanted to compete with Green, seeing how they were rivals. Blue joined because a friend of hers wanted to join, but he never could. Blue never really talked about it though, so Gold didn't know much about it.
"Hey! Gold, what happened?" Red asked, noticing the gauze around his neck as soon as Gold walked in.
The golden eyed trainer nearly forgot it was there. "Oh! This thing? Why I got into a fight with a vampire, of course!" The panicked look on Blue's face was hard to miss, but he continued. "But I sure taught him a lesson!" Gold finished, puffing out his chest.
"Please tell me you're alright." Blue said.
Gold raised an eyebrow. "Of course I'm fine. We were trained for this kind of stuff."
"Don't take this 'kind of stuff' lightly, Gold! You could have died!" The brunette girl shouted at him.
"Hey, hey, calm down. I'm fine. What's got you all jumpy anyways?" Red and Green shook their heads, as if they were saying, 'You don't wanna know.'
"That's a touchy subject, Gold. You know how Blue gets." Green said.
"No, it's fine...he has a right to know." Blue sighed. "You remember my friend I told you about, who wanted to be a hunter too?"
"Yeah...you said he didn't get a chance to...but you never said why..." Gold replied.
"It's because he was killed three years ago by a vampire. He saved me, and sacrified himself...I was going to try and save him, but he kept yelling at me to run as far as I could and hide..." Blue was on the verge of tears. "So I ran, and I could hear his pained screams as I was running."
"...I'm sorry..."
"That's why I'm here...to carry on what he once wanted to do."
"...Do you mind telling me what he was like?"
"He was a good friend, well once I got to know him. He acted like he wanted nothing to do with anyone, although inside he really cared about everyone. Once I got through to him, he showed how overprotective and loving he could be. He was hard on the outside and soft on the inside..." Blue smiled. "You and him would have been great friends."
"...What was his name?"
"Silver."
Gold's eyes widened. 'Silver? No, it can't be the same one...what would be the chances?'
"Do you have a picture of him?"
"Well, yeah...but why?"
"Just curious as to what he looked like. You know me; curious ol' Gold!"
Blue pulled out her wallet, and flipped through the small pictures she had in them. She stopped on that one familiar face. Silver eyes, red hair, pale skin...and alive. Gold took it and looked at it closer. 'So that's what he looked like when he was alive...'
"I, uh, I gotta go. Just remembered I had something important to do!" Gold quickly, giving the picture back to Blue. He raced home without another word.
Meanwhile, Silver was already in Gold's room, bored and digging through Gold's things. It was mainly shit that Silver didn't find interesting at all.
The door slammed open, and Gold stood there, taking deep breaths from his long run over here.
"What the hell? Did you just run a marathon or something?" Silver asked, in a bored tone.
"How long have you been a vampire?!" Gold yelled.
"...Three years."
"So you're the reason Blue's a hunter now..."
Silver's eyes went wide. "She's a hunter? I told her not to!"
"She joined so others wouldn't end up like you. She really misses you...and here you are. You could go over and see--"
"No! Are you crazy?! I can't go see her, especially if she's a hunter!"
"...You risked your life to save her..." Gold smiled. "You would have been a great hunter..."
"...You really think so?"
"Of course."
"...Thanks." Silver said quietly. "So I take it you heard how I died?"
"Yeah..."
"He sucked out all my blood, and injected me with the venom that turned me into this monster. It travels through your whole body, and it burns. Burns more than anything I've ever felt before. I eventually went unconscious from all the pain. When I woke up, my throat was dry, and I was cold. My teeth were pointed, and the only thing I craved was blood. It's a terrible feeling..."
Gold was quiet now, and he put a hand on Silver's shoulder. "You're not a monster...don't listen to people. They only say vampires are monsters because they don't know you."
"Tch, of course I am..."
"No you're not! Monsters are heartless and don't care about anyone but themselves! You're caring, and although your heart isn't beating, it's still there."
Silver opened his mouth to say something, but he was beaten to it.
"Gold?! Are you ok? Your front door was open--" Blue rushed up the stairs, and stood in the doorway of Gold's room. She stared wide eyed at Silver, but didn't react; she was in too much shock.
"...I probably should have locked the door." Gold said.
"Silver...? But you were dead, how are you here...?"
"Correction; I am dead." He said, smirking to show his fangs.
Blue panicked, pulling out her gun. "Gold, get your hand off him."
"Blue, put the gun away, he's harmless!" Gold shouted, taking his hand off Silver, but stood in front of him protectively.
"Harmless?! H-He's dead! He's a vampire!"
"Sure, he wanted to kill me when we first met yesterday, but it's all good now! We're friends, like how you said we could be!"
"How do you know he's not waiting to strike?! How do you know he's not gonna kill you in your sleep?!"
Silver was terrified, and hurt, but mostly hurt. His old best friend was pointing a gun at him, accusing him of being a killer. Well, he is, he can't argue with that. "I'm still Silver...not much has changed about me..."
"Not much?! You're a monster!"
"Shut up! He's not a monster! He's still as caring as you said he was three years ago!"
"Forget it, Gold. She's right...I shouldn't be here." Silver said, pushing him aside.
"No...you can't just give up."
"I've been running for three years...I think it's time to quit. Besides, it's better if it was me than you." WIth his head low, he walked to Blue, who put the handcuffs and muzzle on him. He was forced out of the house, and to the place where he'll soon die (again). Gold remained where he was standing, hurt to see his new friend forced away.
---
Silver was led through the hallway, where many vampires were locked up. They look like they all gave up, or they've gone nearly insane from thirst. Blue took the muzzle off Silver, and unlocked one of the cells that already had a few other vampires in it. She quickly shut it behind Silver, and left without a single word. But he saw the look in her eyes that clearly said sorry.
Silver could hear one of the vampires behind him sniffing him, and he tensed up.
"You were once a human yourself..." They said.
"So what?" Silver spat.
"It means you're not of our kind. And that means we have food." They hissed.
Silver's eyes went wide, and yelled out in pain as one of them bit him by the neck. One of the other two bit his upper arm, just getting to where it was easier for the moment, and the last one bit him on the wrist.
Silver kept screaming out, and repeatedly called for Gold, although he knew Gold wasn't going to come.
When they were finished, they dropped him to the ground. Silver just laid there, unable to move.
Meanwhile, Gold was rushing through the hallways. He could hear Silver's screams from outside, and he wasn't just going to lay around and let Silver die (completely). Many hunters tried to stop him, but he just shoved them out of the way, and burst into the hallway Silver was in. Once he got to the cell, he thought it was too late. Silver was laying on the ground completely still, and his eyes closed.
Gold, careful not to get attacked by the other vampires in there, quickly unlocked the cell and dragged Silver out, shutting the door behind them. He let Silver stay on the ground, and Gold kneeled beside him.
"Silver, wake up, it's me, Gold!" He yelled out.
No response.
"Silver, stop messing around, open your eyes and let me know you're ok!"
Still nothing.
Gold was holding back his sobs, and bit his lip to avoid letting anyone hear. But then, he had an idea. It might not work, but hey, it's better than nothing.
Gold bit his lip, so hard that it began to bleed. Once he got enough blood running, he pressed his lips to Silver's. There was no reaction at first, but after a while, he could feel Silver lick his lip and suck on it gently. Gold allowed Silver to take as much as he needed, although Silver refused to take much. Just enough to get him up and around.
Gold pulled away from Silver, happy that his friend was awake.
"Gold? You came for me?"
"Of course I did, I wasn't gonna let you die again already."
Silver let a small smile form on his lips, but it was gone quickly. "Did you remember to lock the cell door behind you?"
"...Whoops."
Silver and Gold were surrounded by the three vampires that attacked Silver. The two of them quickly got on their feet, but Gold was unarmed and Silver was still handcuffed. At least the other three were handcuffed as well?
The three vampires darted towards them, and the duo just fought with simple kicks and punches. The blood suckers were obviously much stronger than Gold, and one of them pinned Gold against the floor.
"Don't touch him!" Silver hissed, biting the one that attacked Gold. As he held on with his teeth, he kicked them behind the knee, causing them to fall. He sucked the blood quickly out of them, and snapped their neck once he was finished.
Gold stayed on the ground, terrified. Not of the vampire who attacked him, but of Silver. He's never seen anyone, let alone a vampire, so angry and blood thirsty before. Silver continued to do the same to the other two. When Silver was done, his mouth was covered in blood.
"Are you ok?" Silver asked Gold, who was still on the ground. "You're not injured, right?"
"No...I'm fine..." Gold replied, a little shaken up.
"Then come on...let's get out of here." Silver turned, only to face a group of hunters with their guns pointed at him.
"Really? I save one of your hunters and you still point your guns at me?"
"I'm afraid we can't let you go, Silver..." Blue said. "I'm sorry..."
"But he just saved my life!" Gold said, finally getting up off his ass. "Now it's my turn to help him!"
"Gold, you already helped--"
"Shut up, Silver. I know a way I can help you..." The black haired hunter turned to Crystal. "Crys, you know what I'm talking about..."
Crystal looked shocked. "But it hasn't worked on any of our test subjects...it could kill him too."
"Maybe it will work this time! He's different! It could work!" Gold pleaded. "Just please...let me try..."
"What are you talking about?" Silver asked, considering he seemed to be the only one who didn't understand what they were talking about.
"There's been an antidote we've been working on that turns a vampire into a human, but it hasn't worked at all." Crystal explained.
"Just try it...please. I believe it will work this time..." Gold said.
"...Alright, fine. We'll try. But we've only got one shot at this." Crystal sighed. "Silver, come with me." Silver followed Crystal down the hall and through some double doors, where there were chemicals stacked on shelves and arranged nicely. The blue haired girl sat the red head down on a seat, and started messing with some equipment. He watched as she mixed a few liquids together, and poured it into a syringe with a needle on the end. Just as Crystal was about to inject Silver with the antidote, he stopped her.
"Can you get Gold...in case if this doesn't work, I wanna say a few things to him." He said.
"Yeah...hold on." She put down the needle, and pulled out a walkie talkie sort of device. "Blue, can you bring Gold in here?"
They waited a short amount of time, and Gold burst in the room.
"Hey! Watch where you're running! You spill any of this, it's coming out of your paycheck!" Crystal yelled at Gold.
"Alright, alright, calm down. No need to be so serious." Gold said, waving his hands in defense, walking over to Silver and Crystal. "Now what was it you wa--" Before he could finish his question, Silver grabbed the collar of his shirt, and pulled him down for a kiss (which of course had Blue and Crystal freak out for a second, thinking Silver was going to kill him).
"That was for everything you told me earlier...about how I'm not a monster..." Silver said, letting go of Gold.
Gold stood there, surprised. "Make sure you come back to life, ok? I gotta return that kiss." He winked.
"I promise."
And they injected him with what would (hopefully) turn him back into a human.
---
Gold fell asleep with his head on Silver's chest, who was currently unconscious from the antidote. Gold refused to leave his side, and held Silver's cold hand all throughout it. Silver was still breathing...which was a good sign. But if he doesn't wake up by the end of the day, then this would be considered another failure.
Gold was starting to wake up, but the soothing sound of Silver's heartbeat was starting to put him back to sleep.
...
Wait. Heartbeat?
Gold's head shot up, realizing that Silver's heart was beating. He lifted Silver's upper lip, and saw normal, human teeth. He couldn't help but grin. His friend was alive!
"Come on, Silv! You gotta pull through! You can be a normal human again!"
But Silver remained asleep for hours, and Gold's hope was starting to fade.
"How is he?" Blue asked, who came in to check up on Silver. "It's been 23 hours...if he doesn't wake up within the next hour then this is a failure."
Tears were running down Gold's cheeks. "Can't you give him more time? I mean, his heart is beating, that's a good sign! He can make it!"
"That doesn't mean he'll wake up though."
"He promised me! He has to wake up! He wouldn't break a promise, would he?!"
Blue sighed. "One hour. That's all you have."
"You hear that Silv? One hour...you've got one hour to keep your promise..."
---
"Gold?"
"Hey, Gold, wake up."
"...Gold, you're drooling on my shirt. Wake up!"
Gold was woken up by being shaken furiously, and wiped the drool off his cheek.
"Oh, hey, good morning Silver..." The sleepy hunter yawned.
"That's all I get? Good morning?" Silver sighed. "I was hoping for a little more than that after being brought back from the dead."
"Wait for it; it takes him a second to realize some things after waking up." Blue said.
"...Oh my Arceus, Silver!" Gold hugged him tightly, about to squeeze his new life outta him. "You're alive! You're really alive!"
"I won't be for long if you keep hugging me like this!"
"Oh, sorry. It's just that you're here...and not a blood sucker." Gold smiled.
"Well I did promise you that I'd wake up."
"Welcome to the side of the living! It's nice to have ya, Silv!" Gold grinned, returning the kiss he said he would. Silver closed his eyes, enjoying having a kiss without his fangs getting in the way.
"I'll leave you two alone..." Blue said, leaving the room, letting Silver and Gold get closer (physically and metaphorically).
