Squirrels eat bark, flowers, nuts, fruit and various other plant parts, but they also catch and eat insects, eggs and even baby birds. Tree sap is also a delicacy to some species.

The smallest squirrel is the African pygmy squirrel. It's only about 13 cm [5 inches] long from nose to tail.
