~Chapter Twenty Four : Nen~

~Flashback~

After his fight with Zushi, Killua proceeded to walk back to the elevator but hid immediatly behind a wall when he heard a familiar voice along his way.

"Forgive me, master!" Killua recognized that it was Zushi's.

Killua slightly look behind the wall and saw Zushi on his knees, apologizing to his master, Wing.

"I thought I made myself clear, Zushi." Wing said. "You're not supposed to use Ren yet."

"Forgive me! My opponent was too strong, I couldn't help myself." Zushi apologized.

Wing crouched down on Zushi's height. "Sure, wanting to win is good, but your true goals lies beyond this." Wing said. "At the top of this tower."

Wing stood back up. "Focus too much on simply winning a fight and you reduce your own potential." Wing said.

Zushi stood up. "Osu!"

"You must be prepared to lose a thousand times while you're here." Wing reminded him.

"Osu!"

~End of Flashback~

"So, he's not supposed to use this "Ren" until he reached the top floor?" Gon asked as the three of you sat on a bench.

"I guess that "Ren" must be a strong move since there are strong fighters in the top, right?" You asked.

Killua stayed silent while looking down, then, he looked up. "Gon, (Y/N), change in plans." He said as he looked at the two of you. "I'm aiming to reach the top floor."

You and Gon smiled. "Okay!"

You looked at Gon. "That must've been Gon's intention all along..." You thought.

"Oh! Killua has knocked out another opponent with a single chop! And in the other arena, Gon has knocked out another opponent with a single push! Oh! And on the other arena, (Y/N) has sended another opponent flying to wall with a punch!" The girl announcer yelled to the microphone. "Each of them has win six consecurive matches within three days, meaning, they've reached the 100s without a scratch!"

"Killuas Chop, Gon's push, and (Y/N)'s punch. How far are they able to go? More importantly, who will be the one to stop them!?" The girl yelled in the microphone.

Finally, after three days, the three of you finally reached the 100s and like what Zushi said, you all get a private room once you reached the 100th floor.

"Yay! A private room!" Gon yelled as he flopped down on his new white bed and sat down on it. "Now, we won't have to worry about money and lodging!"

You giggled as you and Killua followed him. You sat down next to him while Killua sat down on chair next to the bed.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that." Killua said as he raised his index finger. "If you drop below 100s, you'll have to check out from this room."

"A world of difference seperates making it to the 100s and staying in the 100s. The 100th floor is like a ceiling." Killua explained. "Once you passed it, you'll get special treatment. So everyone focuses on holding their spots. Some people will do anything to stay in the 100s."

Killua stood up and looked to the window. "You can waste a lot time on them." He said and looked at the two of you. "Be careful, the two of you."

You and Gon narrowed your eyebrows and nodded. "Okay."

"Gon wins again with a single push!"

"(Y/N) once again sended someone in the wall with punch!"

Killua looked and watched you and Gon's fights and closed his eyes and smiled.

"I guess I didn't have to worry about them..."

*********

You, Gon, and Killua continued beating your opponents with just a single move until it has finally gone a week.

As you're "contract" with Gon and Killua, you need to change into another animal after a week on being a cat. Gon still suggested you to be a dog and you did.

Right now, You were with Gon and Killua infront of a counter, getting your prize money with your dog ears and tails, which make people look at you weirdly when passing them.

"Here is your prize money." The girl said as he handed you all your money.

You all got it and continued walking. "Wow...Killua you're right. I've never seen so many zeros before." Gon said, looking at his envelope. "And just a week ago, we were totally broke."

Killua looked at the two of you with his arms behind his head. "I'm a little annoyed..." Killua said.

You and Gon looked at him, confuse. "Why?" You both asked.

Killua closed his eyes. "On my first time here, it took me two months to reach the 150th floor but the two of you's first time is going in such a breeze." He said as he snapped open his eyes and turned to you and began gripping your dog tail. "And this type of animal doesn't help at all!" He said, frustrated.

You widen your eyes. "Kya!" You shrieked. "Ow! S-Stop that! My tail's sensitive! Ow, Ow, Ow!" You exclaimed as you swatted Killua's hand. "Stop taking out your frustration in my tail!" You scolded.

Killua pouted and "Tch"ed. Gon sweatdropped and smiled. "We all agreed to this right?" Gon said. "Plus, why are you so frustrated? You were only six back then right?"

Killua closed his eyes once again. "Well, I guess that's true..." He said.

"Oh! Did you guys see? Zushi was on TV earlier!" Gon said.

"I did. He's still in the 50s." Killua said as he stopped walking.

You and Gon stopped walking as well. "I wonder what that "Ren" you sensed could have been?" Gon asked.

Killua hummed in wonder and raised his index finger. "Maybe if we fight opponents higher up, we'll know..." Killua said.

"Oh, really?" Gon said and raised his index finger. "Wouldn't it be faster if we just straight up ask Zushi?" Gon said.

You smiled. "Oh yeah...We never really thought about that..."

Killua looked to the side with an expression that says "Oh." And grab Gon's index finger and laughed sarcastically.

"Ren is one of the four major principles!" Zushi said.

The three of you did ask Zushi what "Ren" is but, all the information he's telling the three of you doesn't really make sense. The three of you just looked at Zushi with a confused expression.

"The four major principles for disciplining your mind and body fundamental for every martial art!" Zushi explained. "You must know "Ten", learn "Zetsu", achieve "Ren" and reach "Hatsu"! This is all part of "Nen" training! That covers everything!"

Killua grew a vein while you sweatdropped as steam began coming out of Gon's ears. Killua turned to Zushi. "We have no idea what you're saying!" Killua yelled.

"Zushi." You all turned to the side and saw a smiling Wing. Zushi frozed up.

"Are you suffieciently educated enough to teach others?" Wing asked and turned to the three of you. "Gon-kun, Killua-kun, (Y/N)-san, there is an old saying that if you learned something piecemeal, you'll end up knowing less than you started."

Killua slightly glared at Wing. "So a little knowledge is a dangerous thing?" Killua asked. "But I want to know now, because it's related to the secret behind my brother's power."

Wing stopped smiling and looked at Killua. "So your brother is a Nen user?" He asked.

Killua narrowed his eyebrows. "I don't even know what Nen and Ren means!" Killua yelled. "I'll agree to the long and full learning process rather than a quick explanation!"

"And if you're willing to teach us, we won't try to figure it out ourselves!" Killua said as he looked at Wing in the eyes.

You noticed that there is something about Killua's voice that just made you want to look at him so you did. Once you saw his eyes, you quickly understand it.

His eyes were the same cool royal blue eyes however, this time, it was shining with desperation. You knew Wing saw this too.

Then, Wing spoke up. "I understand." He said as he turned around. "Then please follow me to my residence." He said.

After reaching Wing's residence, you all stand infront of Wing with a white board on his side. "Do I have your attention?" Wing asked. "Nen means to burn your own soul."

Then, wing began writing a kanji word on the white board. "In other words, it tests your strength of will and the four major principles are of a training cirriculum for strengthning your will." Wing explained as he wrote three more Kanjis on the board.

"Ten means to focus your soul in a single point to increase awairness of your ego and goals." Wing explained.

"Zetsu means to explain yourselves in words." Wing explained. "Ren means to temper that will."

"And finally, Hatsu means to act upon that will." Wing finished.

"Killua-kun, Zushi tempered his "Refusal to lose" on you during his fight with you." Wing said.

Killua kept quiet and widen his eyes when he remembered their match. "So, allow me to demonstrate." Wing said. "Killua-kun..." Wing called, snapping Killua out.

"I'm thinking of killing you right now." Wing said. "Are you ready?"

Killua looked up at Wing, bored. "Ah, sure." He said. "Because it's not happening."

"I'll take this step-by-step." Wing smiled. "First off is Ten." He said and crouched down on a fighting position. "I focus my soul into a single position."

"Zetsu, you can express yourself mentally or verbally." Wing said as you looked at him, carefully while Gon looked prepared and Killua looked bored. Wing then closed his eyes. "I will kill you." Wing said.

Then, you all felt a small but dangerous aura coming from Wing and widen your eyes. Wing then snapped open his eyes, making his aura bigger and felt more dangerous. You and Gon widen your eyes in suprise while Killua narrowed his eyes that make him look so terrified. Much like the expression he gave when he met his brother, Illumi in the last phase of the hunter exam.

Then, you and Gon felt a movement beside you and looked to see Killua no longer there. Wing stopped his aura and stood up straight and smiled. "That was Ren." Wing said.

You all looked around to find Killua and found him hanging in the corner of the ceiling, like a terrified spider.

"If I temper my will enough, then I can act, Hatsu." Wing said. "If your will is strong enough, you can make your opponent back down without moving a muscle. The concept of bluffing derives from this." Wing finished said as Killua jumped back down from the ceiling.

"Ren hardens that which is soft and you lose the ability to correct an incorrect idea." Wing said. "Therefore, you should not avoid Ren until your soul has fully mature. Right now, you three and Zushi should be training your souls."

Killua slightly glared at Wing, sensing something funny and just walk towards the exit. "Let's go, (Y/N), Gon." He called.

"If you wish to learn more about Nen, you should focus on mastering Ten." Wing said, stopping Killua in his tracks and looked at Wing. "If you master Ten, you will no longer feel the pressure of the opponent's will." Wing said.

Killua looked at him and closed his eyes and continued walking towards the exit.

"Thank you very much!" You and Gon said, bowing to Wing and exited the door. "Wait up, Killua!"You both called as you both ran to catch up with Killua.

"He's lying?" Gon asked.

"Yeah, his explanation makes perfect sense and his clearly very strong. But his story has holes." Killua said, making you and Gon looked at him, confuse. "Zushi's toughness. He kept getting up everytime I try to knock him out. I got irratated and accidentally used all of my strength in my final attack."

"Willpower didn't keep him standing." Killua said. "There must be some other secret."

Another day came which means another match was going to be assigned to three of you today. Currently, the three of you were placed in a different arenas with different opponents.

"It's time for the day's biggest match!" The girl announcer yelled through the microphone. "The rookies Gon, Killua, and (Y/N) have advanced to the 190th floor without dropping a fight! Will they be able to keep moving on?"

"Okay then, everyone! Get ready to press your gamble switches!"

You were faced with another opponent that is a guy and have large muscles around him whire wearing a confident smirk. "Little girl, sadly, today's the day you'll drop down a fight because your punches won't work on me!" He said. "Because...My muscles are hard as a rhino's!" He said.

You sweatdropped and smiled. You clench your fist behind you, earning a little crack.

"Begin!" The referree said.

Then, he dashed towards you while screaming and attempted to punch you. You crouched down to dodge and quickly punched your fist in his stomach, harder than ever.

Just like the usual, he began flying towards the wall and created a large hole. He looked unconcsious so the referree indicated that the match was once again over fast.

"Critical hit and knockdown! Three points! Knockout!" The referree yelled and turned to you. "The winner is (Y/N)!"

The audience went crazy hearing they won. "Once again, Gon, Killua, and (Y/N) knocked out another opponent with one move!"

After your matches, which the three of you succesfully won, you were all now inside of an elevator. The three of you were waiting for the elevator to reach the 200th floor, excitedly.

"I wonder what's the 200th floor like?" Gon wondered, excitedly.

"Indeed! It's really exciting and it fills me up with curiousity!" You said, excited as well.

"Beats me." Killua said. "I've never been in the 200s before."

Then, finally, you all heard the "Ding" sound of the elevator. You all prepared as the elevator slowly opened. Once it opened, you and Gon immediatly stand outside while Killua just coolly followed the two of you. You and Gon looked around in amazement.

Upon arriving to the 200th floor, you were all immediatly greeted with a long hallway with a red carpet with golden-like wallpapers and a bunch of expensive-looking plants.

"Wow! The 200th floor is so fancy!" Gon exclaimed.

"Yeah! It's my first time seeing this kind of hallway before!" You exclaimed.

Killua just seemed unamazed and sighed to the two of you. "Where's the receptionist?" Killua asked and turned to walk to the hallway. "Maybe here?"

You and Gon stopped admiring the decorations of the 200th floor and quickly catched up with Killua.

"We finally made it!" Gon said.

"Yeah." You and Killua agreed.

The three of you turned to another hallway but immediatly backed up when the three of you felt a dangerous aura coming from the hallway.

You widen your eyes as you your tail stopped swinging and frozed up. Nervous sweat began dropping from you forehead as you feel the aura in the hallway. "W-What...?" You thought, nervously. "What's wrong with this hallway...?! The aura around it felt so dangerous!"

Killua narrowed his eyes. "Let's go! We can do this!" He yelled as he continued walking to the hallway.

You and Gon looked at each other and eventually followed Killua to the hallway. Then, the three of you stopped half-way when the aura become bigger and more dangerous.

You're whole body trembled while nervous sweat were dropping around your body as well as Gon and Killua. "T-This is bad...I-I can't move on forward..." You exclaimed.

"This is a murderous intent aimed at us!" Gon yelled.

Killua looked at the two of you and back to the end of the hallway. "Hey! Who's there!? Show yourself!" Killua yelled.

Then, the aura stopped and a figure began to appear. It was a lady with the same uniform as the receptionist on the first floor. She smiled and looked at the three of you.

"Gon-sama, Killua-sama, and (Y/N)-sama, correct?" She asked and pointed to the hallway beside her. "The receptionist's desk is over there so please register a 200s match today." She said. "You won't be able to register after midnight so be careful."

You slightly looked behind you and saw a clock. It was currently 8:12. You looked back to the woman. "Is she the source of that aura...?" You asked.

"I can't tell." Killua said.

"Me neither..." Gon said.

The girl smiled more. "By the way, there are currently one hundred seventy three contestants in the 200s." She said. "And starting from the 200s, all weapons are allowed to be used in the matches. So please use whatever you have."

"Also, you will no longer receive any prize money in the 200s class. You will now fight for glory so please understand that if your going to participate." She informed the three of you.

Then, the three of you widen your eyes as you all saw a card being thrown infront of the woman. You all gasped and saw all saw a figure behind the woman. The woman turned around and quickly ran away in fear as she noticed that someone.

Once three of you have a better sight of the man, you all widen your eyes in shock to see the familiar yet terrifying face.

"H-Hisoka..." Killua stuttered out, obviously shocked. "Why are you here?"

Hisoka put his hand to his forehead and looked at the three of you. "It's hardly that strange. I love to fight and this is a temple of fighting." Hisoka said. "How about the three of you? Why are you here?"

You were all about to answer when Hisoka's smile become wider. "Just kidding~" he said. "It's no coincidence. I was waiting for the three of you."

"Remember when you all ordered airship tickets over the cybernet?" Hisoka asked. "With a little effort, it's possible to determine when and where someone will arrive."

"Well, I knew you three would come here eventually." Hisoka said. "And so, as a veteran, I have a warning for the three of you..."

You, Gon, and Killua prepared for what he's gonna say. "It's still too early for you kids to step in this floor..." Hisoka said as he raised his hands.

You all widen your eyes and covered yourselves with your arms as he sended a gush of aura over to the three of you, blowing all of you away. "How early depends on your efforts, it's still too early right now, leave for now." Hisoka said as he sat down on the floor.

Killua grew a vein. "That's stupid! We just got here...!" He said as he tried to move forward but stopped immediatly.

"I won't let you pass..." Hisoka muttered. "Not that you could, anyway." He said and made his aura more powerful.

While covering yourself with your arms, you tried move forward along with Gon and Killua but can barely make one step. "What...Is this...?" You thought.

The three of you did your hardest to move forward even though the three of you can barely lift a foot near Hisoka. Then, the aura stopped as you all heard a familiar voice.

"Don't be too reckless!" He yelled.

You all turned around and saw Wing coming out from the wall. "Wing-san!" You and Gon exclaimed.

"You three don't have any defense against his Nen." Wing said. "Right now, you are like someone naked in a blizzard, wondering why it is so cold. If you continue to strain your body, you might die."

"This is Nen!?" Killua snapped as he pointed to Hisoka. "He can stop us from moving forward through willpower!? Liar!"

Wing closed his eyes. "Yes. I was lying." He admitted. "I will teach you the truth about Nen, but for now, retreat."

You all turned to the receptionist who was standing on the corner the whole time. "Hey, miss..." You called.

"Oh, yes?" She said.

"What will happen if we don't register for a fight today?" You asked.

"(Y/N)-sama and Gon-sama will start from the beginning once again, from the first floor." She said and turned to Killua. "However, Killua-sama refused to register a fight on his first time here so if he don't register a fight today, his commitment will be questioned and he will be banned from participating."

Killua turned around and closed his eyes while you and Gon listened, horrified. "Hey, Wing-san." Killua called. "If we back down now, will we be able to go back by midnight?"

You and Gon smiled at Killua and turned to Wing as well. Wing looked shocked but regain his straight face once again.

"That depends on the three of you."
