Chapter 1: Booker and Copper's Fantasies

Whenever villager does not come to the gate for either requesting to open the gate or finding lost items, Booker and Copper get to take a break by sitting down for a while.

"All right, let's take a break!" Copper announced. "Oh, the villager just won't leave us alone!" He groaned as he sat down crossed-leg, but then he lifted his right leg, only having his right foot touch the floor. "He invites three friends over and spends time with them all day! I love this job but I don't have that energy sometimes to stay up for that long." Copper stretched and yawned.

"But I think our jobs are over today," Booker said as he sat down with his legs split a little bit and stretched out. "Until the villager logs on and we have to stay on guard."

"Well then, before that," Copper said. "Let's enjoy while we can!" They both sat down on their spots.

They would either take a nap or have a snack. Copper usually takes a nap, and Booker usually has a snack.

"Promise me to wake me up after an hour?" Copper pleaded.

"No problem," Booker said.

Booker brought an apple and a peach for his snack today. He quietly bit into the apple and chewed silently so that he does not wake Copper up. He peeked over at Copper from time to time as he ate. Oh my goodness... Booker thought as he watched Copper sleep. He could not help but notice his charm, even while sleeping. He's so handsome... He sighed as he swallowed his first mouthful of the apple. He imagined Copper eating with him:

"Um... here... have an apple," Booker said as he sheepishly handed an apple to Copper. "I uh... I picked an extra... just... just for you..."

"Ah, thank you!" Copper boldly thanked. "I'll enjoy it." Right when Booker was going to return to his position, Copper stopped him. "Wait! Don't go! Sit with me! Let's have a snack together, it's tastier that way!"

"Oh... uh... okay... sorry," Booker said as he returned to Copper's position.

"Now, don't be sorry," Copper said as he snickered.

"I'm-" Booker was about to apologize once more, but then he stopped himself before he finished his sentence. "It's just my habit."

Copper smiled and kindly suggested, "Maybe I can help you get rid of the habit of apologizing unnecessarily."

"I... uh... I'd love to..." Booker said as he blushed. "Learn... from you..."

"Really?" Copper asked with a respectful grin. "Come here." He scooched closer to him and made Booker leaned on him. Copper wrapped his arms around him. Copper leaned his chin against Booker's head. Copper bit into his apple, chewed, swallowed, and said, "You know... you're really cute. I'd love to go out with you someday."

"Oh... um... r... really?" Booker stuttered as he blushed.

"Come on, I wouldn't lie about this," Copper said as he also blushed. "So, wanna go out together in the blossom festival that's gonna be held in few days?"

"I... I'd love to... go with you..." Booker answered sheepishly. "Yes..."

Booker came back to reality, realizing that he finished his snack while fantasizing his moments with Copper. He wrapped the apple core and peach seed with the paper bag he brought for the snacks. He quietly crumpled it up. He held on to his spear and faced the opposite direction of Copper, which was the wall, with a torch, nothing special. It's not gonna happen... Booker thought as he stared at the wall. If I even ask him out, he'll make fun of me for the rest of my life.

Copper woke up for a bit. He turned to Booker to see what he was doing. Believing that Booker was taking a nap after his snack, Copper decided to glance at him for a bit. He tried to stay up longer, but his eyelids did not let him since the villager opened the gate from 12 AM to 4 AM. As he fell back asleep, he dreamed about walking up to Booker and talking to him:

"Rough day, huh?" Booker asked timidly, as he held his spear with both of his hands, the higher end touching his right cheek, and the lower end tapping on his left foot.

"Oh, did I snore?" Copper asked as he stood up in the speed of an agrias butterfly.

"Nonono! You didn't!" Booker shook his hands, hesitating, with his spear dropping below his waist level witch he tried to catch, but hesitantly juggled with it until it fell on the floor. "Oh... I'm such a mess... I drop everything, I let go of everything, I don't realize if there's anything special... why do I have to be so clumsy?"

"I think you're adorable being clumsy," Copper said. Booker looked up at him with a buggy eye and rosy cheek that was bright as a pink peach.  Copper covered his mouth after what he said. "Did I just... say that aloud?" Copper asked. Booker nodded. "Aw man... look... I'm sorry, but I have a strong feeling for you... I think I have a crush on you... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have confessed... you're gonna feel uncomfortable now. Feel free to laugh at me..."

"I, uh, I don't need to..." Booker said as his rosy cheeks started to be bright as a tomato. "I, um, I feel that way... too..."

"What? Really?" Copper asked in joy and disbelief.

"Really..." Booker replied sheepishly.

"I'm so glad I confessed," Copper said. "Wanna go out with me when we both have time?"

"Sh... sure!" Booker said. "I... I'd love to..."

Copper woke up and realized it was all a dream. Copper sighed in despair and thought Such wishful thinking. He's not gonna go out with me.

When Booker heard him sigh, he realized Copper was awake now. Should I call him...? Booker thought as he peeked to the other side. No... that would be weird. Boy, he's so handsome...

When Copper turned his head towards Booker, their eyes matched. "Good morning," he said.

"Good... morning..." Booker greeted back even though it was not morning, holding his spear with both of his hands.

"What time is it?" Copper asked as he yawned and stretched. Just then, the town hall rang to indicate a new hour.

"It's 5 AM now," Booker said.

"I only slept for an hour?" Copper asked. Booker nodded. Copper stood up, cracked his back and neck, and picked up his spear. "Wow, my body's all stiff."

"Wanna go outside and stretch for a bit?" Booker suggested as he stood up. "I can go with you."

"Would you like to?" Copper asked as he rotated his left arm.

"Yes. I, uh... I need to... stretch... also" Booker said.

"Well then, let's go," Copper said as he tugged on him. Booker blushed as Copper tugged on him. "Is something wrong...? Are you sick?" He asked as he noticed him blushing.

"Huh...? Nono, I... I'm not..." Booker replied.

"I can buy the medicine from... no wait, Nookington doesn't open until nine," Copper said.

"I...I'm not s-sick, I... I'm f-fine," Booker said.

"Okay, well, let's stretch our muscles before the sunrise," Copper said as he cracked his back.

"Y-yes! Le-let's g-go," Booker said.

Booker and Copper walked around the village, breathed in the fresh air, hear the river flow, hear the ocean waves roar, and hear leaves flutter in a breeze.

Booker imagined Copper reaching for his hand and holding his hand:

"Huh...?" Booker reacted with a blush across his face. When he looked at Copper's face, he was also blushing. They both walked together with their faces down, still holding hands. Although Booker was looking down, he wasn't paying close attention. So he eventually fell into the spot where the pitfall seed was buried. "Whoa!" He fell into the ground, also dragging Copper with him. Their faces were so close as their noses were almost touching.

Copper's eyes were widened and quickly stood up and escaped the pit. "Can you... get up...? Do you... want me to... help you...?" He let his hand out.

"Um... th-thanks..." Booker reached for the hand, allowing Copper to pull Booker out of the pit.

They continued to walk together, still holding hands. Booker leaned his cheek against Copper's shoulders. They continued to walk until the sunrise.

That was Booker's fantasy.

Copper imagined Booker reaching for his hands and holding his hand:

Copper didn't react. He pretended to not care, but he couldn't help but his face was burning up. When he peeked over at Booker, his face was bright as an apple. They both continued to walk with their heads down. Copper was still observant while walking and he noticed that Booker was about to step on the pitfall seed. Copper quickly pulled him as he yelped, "Watch out!"

"Whoa!" Booker lost his balance and fell on Copper. They blushed as their noses were close to each other. Booker quickly rolled out of the top of Copper and apologized, "Oh... I-I'm s-so so sorry!"

"It's fine," Copper said as he stood up. "Can you get up?"

"Um... y-yes..." Booker said as he stood up. When they continued to walk, Booker reached for Copper's hand once more, leaned against his shoulder, and walked together until the sunrise.

That was Copper's fantasy.

They walked together until the sunrise, without holding hands. When they went back inside, they stood by until the player logged on. They were too afraid to look at each other for the rest of the time.
