Akari pov

I listened as Satoz explained the next part, "Crossing this swamp will be the next part of the phase. The swamp has many bizarre animals lurking around. Many of them are crafty and ferocious creatures who deceive the humans they prey upon." 

This is going to be fun.

"If you are deceived you are dead. You must follow me very closely so you can not be deceived" he explained. 

I smelt some blood in the air. Where is it coming from? I look to the right of the entrance and saw a bloody man.

"Don't let them fool you!" he yelled, but I knew he was an animal. I can smell it.

"Don't fall for it. He's lying to you!" he screamed pointing to Satoz. I went over to gon and killua and whispered to them, "he's lying"

"I'm the real examiner!" he yelled pulling out a man faced ape.

"How do you know?" Killua asked me " I have a skill for picking out people who lie, also the bloodied one smells more like the forest and an animal" I explained

"Huh," he sighed looking at the bloody ape.

I watched as the fake kept on pointing fingers at Satoz accusing him until cards were thrown at him and Satoz. I turn to see that satoz has caught the cards and threw them aside.

"I see, that settles it you're the real one," A tall, pale red-haired man said he explained how the examiner should have caught that because they are a hunter.

We then all turn our attention to the dead man faced ape that is being eaten by vultures. I felt my tail fluff up in disgust under my sweatshirt as I turn and walk away.

TS

I ran through the swamp and I felt a whole lot better with a change of scenery.

Feeling the wind blowing in my face and the smell of nature all around me is the greatest.

I was running when I felt something bad was going to happen soon. "Let's move up," Killua said "Yeah we don't want to lose sight of the examiner" gon added 

"It's not just that. I overheard that the group behind Hisoka is planning to attack him and I don't want to be involved with that," I said speeding up. "Staying too close to him is dangerous," killua stated.

"Leorio, kurapika were going to move up!" gon shouted behind us

"Oi! If I could I would already be there!" Leorio shouted angerly

"Don't worry about us we will be fine!" Kurapika said

"Ok take care!" I shouted back while speeding up with killua

"Wait up" gon ran to catch up to us

TS

"Well then." I sarcastically say more to myself than them as I run with gon and killua.

"Huh?" killua asked "There are people yelling all around us," gon explained.

"They're all being killed, "I say looking ahead, not really minding the deaths around us because I don't know them.

"That just means we have to stay on guard though," killua said trying to change the topic

"I wonder if leorio and kurapika are ok?" Gon asked. I smelled the air and tried to see I can still telepathically contact them. I can contact them, so they're fine. "Its ok gon there fine," I say

"How do you know that?" killua asked

" Ummm... instincts?" I say trying to not yet tell them about my abilities just yet. "Ok?" the boys replied.

We kept on running but something felt off. I looked around trying to find where I sensed the danger. Seconds later I felt the presence in the ground below me. "Shoot" I mutter and stop running. The others look at me then feel the presence too.

We all fell down the hole in the ground which I assume will lead to an animals mouth attempting to eat us.

Inside I felt a gooey and burning substance which reminded me of my past torturings

FB (will transfer flashback to present time)   "Normal" is present time and "italics" are flashbacks

"Stop struggling just give in and it won't be AS painful that way!" One of my tortures yelled as he threw me into a giant tank which has a variety of deadly and burning chemicals. I sunk in deeper and deeper because of the chains and weights they attached to my feet.

I tried to swim to the top or anywhere where I can take a breath but I couldn't. I just sunk deeper in the belly of the beast. I started to mentally laugh thinking I would die, yet that used to be a normal feeling for me.

I struggled to get my feet to loosen from the chains tied to it. I felt a burning sensation all around me as I look up to my tortures through the glass and I could see their sinister laughing faces as they turned up the heat in the tank to almost boiling in hopes to get some reaction out of my anima but I know they mainly do it for their own pleasure.

3rd POV

Akari sat on the floor staring at the grass stuck in her memories.

"I guess he didn't like the way we tasted, huh?" gon questioned watching as the frog walked away.

"No, it was this," Killua said holding up the open can

"Oh the juice that Tonpa had!" Gon shouted, "I guess that's what has saved us."

Gon looked around and noticed that Akari was sitting by herself slightly shaking.

Killua turned his head to where gon was looking. He watched as gon stood up and approached Akari.

Gon slowly walked up to Akari thinking she might have been frightened by this. He moved his arm toward her, so he could put a comforting hand on her shoulder "Aka-"

She growled lowly at his approaching form, quickly turned around, and grabbed his hand to flip him over harshly. Once gon hit the ground her clouded eyes turned back to normal noticing what she has done.

"Oh, my gosh, Gon I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that!" She quickly apologized as she held out an arm to help him up. 

"No, no its fine I shouldn't have come behind you like that." Gon said grabbing her hand, standing up and trying to get rid of the dirt and goo that was left on his 

"We should keep on moving" Killua started picking up his skateboard.

Akari POV

We ran and saw the main group running in the fog. "Hey, we caught up!" I looked to my sides and only Killua was there. "Where did gon go?" I asked as we both looked around

"I don't know. That's weird he was here a minute ago" He replied

TS

Killua and I walked around the examiners while they were resting. 

"Akari?" Killua asked "Hmm?" I responded looking at him"How come you flipped gon like that after the frog puked us out?" He asked stopping.

"I'm not sure. I guess it might have been a reflex." I muttered feeling bad about that. " Well just think," I started speaking again as I looked at him "We basically just escaped being eaten by a giant frog. Why wouldn't some people be defensive after that." 

"Hmm ok" He stated while walking again with me following shortly after.

TS

"Hey guys," I said as Killua and I walked up to our friends that were sitting by a tree.

"I can't believe you actually got here," Killua said, "I thought you were done"

"I just tracked Leorios cologne" Gon plainly stated

"By sent?!" Killua shouted "Your weird" Killua said sweatdropping while I giggled. That's kinda funny cause I do that all the time.

"The second phase will occur here in the Visac forest preserve" Satoz booming voice interrupted our conversation. "I shall take my leave," He said walking into the forest while the giant gates opened.
