A lady in her mid seventies entered the hospital with a smile wrapped around her face. She was not in a royal banarasi saree as usual but a simple one, blue colour. She was wearing only minimal jewellery which includes her shakha pola and a nuptial chain .Although she was of 70 but the charm on her face was still like a teenager. She was holding a bag in her hand which was very heavy for her to handle but still she was walking slowly along with it.

Many doctors and other staff members of the hospital smiled seeing that old lady. The respect that lady very much because this is har hospital. She was the owner of the hospital.
The main reason behind starting the hospital was so that women in that era can get a better treatment. Due to many discrimination among men and women and lower class and upper class government in british hospitals were not allowed to admit low class people and normal doctor can treat a female.

Today she came here not to see her hospital but to meet her husband who is not well and admitted to hospital from last 1 month.

Everyday she stays here with him despite with the fact that she was not well herself. Even she is going with health issues but it doesn't matter to her in front of him. Her love for husband is much more than her pain. It is obvious that everyone get health issues at the age of 85, so was he.

As she entered with the bag in her hand a nurse took that back from her. The lady passed a smile at her.

Nurse: dadi maa aap fir aa gaye yahaan, mana kiya hai na apko dr.Ganguly ne ki apko jyada nhi chalna chahiye.

Bon: acha laga jaanke ki tumhe meri fikr hai lekin main yahaan har roz aungi unke liye .

Arguing with the first lady barrister bondita anirudh roy chaudhary was not a wise thing so she silently followed her towards the room.

She opened the door for bondita and both entered inside.

A man in his late 80's was lying on the bed with eyes closed surrounded by a lot of machines.

The nurse kept the bag on the side table.

Nurse: dadimaa agar aapko kuch chahiye ho toh bata dijiyega main aa jaungi.

The couple was popularly known as dada ji and dadi maa. Their bond and love are famous all over the hospital.

The nurse left saying this. While bondita took a seat beside anirudh who was diagnosed with a deadly disease..

She caressed his hairs making him awake from his sleep. She gave him her big smile which he always wanted to see.
She leaned towards him and placed a kiss on his forehead.

Happy 68th marriage aniversary pati babu.

She slowly whispered in shaking voice making him smile

It was their 68th marriage aniversary. They completed 68 years of their love. In this 68 years they faced all kind of happiness and sadness together, bought many changes in the society.

Happy anniversary bondita

He said with great difficulty and in a low weak tone.

She took out the box from the bag. She opened the box and it contained 2 roshogullas.

Ye dekhiye roshogulle maine khud banaye hain apne haathon se!

She exclaimed happily and he smiled weakly seeing her cute antics.

Chaliye ab khilaiye mujhe.

She pouted her lips.

Nhi, tum nhi khaogi. Jaanti nhi ho bachpan se roshogulle khaa khaa ke madhumay(diabetes) ho gayi hai tumhe. Ye sirf mere hain.

He chuckled remembering the first time when doctor told her that she is having diabetes. She cried whole day and night just for roshogulla. Ani somehow convinced her saying that he will give her one roshogulla per week but bondita being bondita sneaked into the kitchen in search of roshogullas but everytime someone caught her. Finally it was decided that every week anirudh will cook roshogulla for her with less sugar so that she can eat with no harm.

She slowly removed his oxygen mask and fed him a small of roshogulla.

I love you pati babu

Saying this she ate the remaining roshogulla.

Amio tumake bhalobashi.

He replied in a weak voice.

Bache kaise hain?

He asked out of curiosity.

Since he was admitted in the hospital no one came to meet him except his brothers and bondita.All were busy in their own world.

Tears brimmed in bondita's eyes remembering morning's incident.

When she asked her son that will he accompany her to the hospital. He immediately denied saying that he has some important work same with her daughter.

Are pati babu anidita aur rudhansh bilkul theek hain aur vo toh keh rhe the ki maa hum bhi chalte hain baba ko dekhne lekin maine kaha nhi apne kaam pe dhyaan do.

She covered up the topic.

He chuckled sadly.

Aaj bhi jhoot bolna nhi seekha na tumne.

She started to say something but he showed his hand to her.

Kya kaha hai dr. Ne kitne din aur hain mere paas?

He asked in a weak tone.

Nhi jaa rhe hain aap kahi bhi samjhe aap. Mai hu na idhar kuch nhi hoga aapko.

Bondi, mai 85 ka ho chuka hoon, ab ye dard mujhse aur nhi saha jaata hai.

She didn't said anything but kept her hand on his.
After sometime she started coughing badly making anirudh worried.

He took his hands towards the glass of water and which shaky hands he gave her the water to drink. She smiled and drank some water.

Why don't you go to doctor?

I am perfectly fine.

She said keeping her head on his chest.

Kabhi pata nahin chalana kitne sal beet gaye hamen ek sath. Kya kuchh nahin dekha maine apni jivan mein tumhare sath. Har lamhe ko jiya hun main. Aaj bhi mujhe yad hai kaise tumne pahli bar ghar mein aate hi mujhe gunga keh diya tha, kaise meri study mein toofaan machaya karti thi tum.
Kaise london jaane ke samay foot foot kar roi thi. Kaise sharma rhi thi jab mujhe bataya tha ki main baba banne wala hu, wo ehsaas kitna khoobsurat tha na jab humne rudhansh aur anidita ko pehli baar god mein liya tha lekin aaj un dono ke paas hi humare liye samay nhi hai. Lekin mujhe chinta nhi hai kyuki mere paas tum ho. Now we are not that important for them but i always have you.

She also nodded in tears with tears as she remembered her old days.

Till my last breath i will be only yours.

She promised

If i'll go then please take care of yourself, and never stop wearing colourful saree. You know it feels so good when i see you in colours.

Why are you saying all this?

She asked him cryingly

Mujhe nahin pata mere pass kitna samay hai lekin tum chinta mat karo i have booked you for all my life. So in the next life we will be together just like today.

I am only yours and you are only mine.

She said and pecked his lips.

Ami tomake bhalobashi pati babu.

Amio tumake bhalobashi bondi.

Suddenly anirudh started breathing heavily.

Kya hua pati babu?

She said in a panic tone and stood up to called a doctor but was stopped by him as he held her hand.

Don't go please.

He whispered breathing heavily.

Chodiye na jane dijiye dr. Ke paas. U need dr.

He shook his head.

I need you, you know that i can't survive more but i want to die in your embrace.

She started crying bitterly as he said that.

He gently pulled her towards him and she sat beside him.

Ye mote mote ansu nhi pyaari si muskan dekhte hue jaana chahata hoon iss duniya se main.

She tried her best to smile in tears.

Bondita....

Shhh! Kuch nhi boliye i just want to listen your heartbeats.

She kept her head on his chest seeing him taking his last breaths. He was feeling wet due to her tears but didn't make an attempt to wipe them because he knew that she will not stop.

Staying like this for sometime, he started coughing badly. He shook bondita a little but she didn't responded.

Bondita, utho so gayi kya?

This time also she didn't replied

He slowly lifted her head and found her closed eyes. He was not able to feel her breaths. He slowly brought his other hand in front of her nose but wasn't able to feel anything.

A long stream of tear flooded from his eyes. He smiled tearfully.

Aaj bhi jhoot bolna nhi seekha na tumne.

He kissed her forehead and kept his head over hers closing his eyes.

After an hour somnath came along with batuk to visit their brother. As they opened the door they found them hugging each other and they immediately turned their faces.

Uhhu uhhu dada baudi hum aaye hain.

Batuk coughed loudly.

They got silence in reply.

Dada baudiii.

Som called their name a little louder.

They both turned but still they were hugging each other.

Batuk slowly went towards them and touched bondita's shoulder.

Baudi.......

Instead of replying her limp hand fallen of the bed.

Som came beside them. He touched anirudh's hand

Dada.....

He also didn't replied.

They both looked towards each other and batuk immediately ran to call doctor.

The doctor came and checked them.

Sorry but they are no more.

Doctor replied and went away.

Batuk hugged som crying bitterly.

Som dadaaa, baudi aur dada nhi rhe..............

They lived together, they died together.......

Som said and joined his brother in crying for their loss.
