Warnings~ death, house intruder, suicidal thoughts, crying, holding someone hostage, sad beans and a funeral.

Remus was always there. Always there to help Roman. To pick him up when he felt low and praise him. Their relationship was rocky at times but they loved each other.

They had a period where they resented each other but then again, what siblings haven't? After every fight, they would each go to their rooms and write letters to each other. Then the next day, they'd slide them beneath each others doors. This continued for months until...

"WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE NORMAL LIKE EVERYONE ELSE?!" Roman screamed at his younger brother.
"WELL I'M SORRY THAT I HAVE MENTAL ISSUES! WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?! OFF MYSELF??" Remus screeched, putting his hand to his head in mock attempt of a gun.

"Remus no." The older twin sighed.
"Its just... You need to start taking your pills. They'll help!" he explained.
"I don't want to take them." Remus stated as he crossed his arms and pouted like a toddler.
"Okay well just try and reign it in a bit okay?" Roman asked placing a hand on his siblings shoulder.
Remus sighed and nodded.
"I'll try."

After that they were closer, Remus found out that he was calmer with his brother and/or boyfriend. So he spent most of his time with Janus or Roman. Whether that's cuddling or being in the same room as Roman while he worked.

Everything was going well.
Then the incident occurred.

The brothers were cuddling with their respective partner when there was a crash from the living room.

"W-what was t-that ro?" Virgil asked as he clutched onto his boyfriend. Roman held him close and kissed his forehead.
"I don't know baby. Go hide in the closet and don't come out unless someone uses the safe word okay?" the prince whispered as he picked the smaller male up and took him over to the wardrobe. Virgil nodded and kissed his partner sweetly, muttering a "Please be safe." and an "I love you."
Roman nodded as he grabbed his sword from its sheath and stepped out of his room. He looked to his left and saw Remus. The two shared a look as they started down the stairs.

There was a loud crash from the living room.

"Janus. Baby wake up." Remus whispered as he shook his small boyfriend. Janus opened his eyes and gave a worried look.
"What's wrong babe?" he asked as he sat up. Remus picked him up and took him over to the closet where there was a lock. He looked to Janus before kissing him.
"I don't know baby but I need you to stay here for me. Don't come out unless you hear the safe word. Okay?" Remus explained before hugging the smaller man tight.
"Remember that I love you JJ. If I don't make it out of this, keep this as a memory." he whispered as he took off his family ring and placed it on Janus' finger. Janus nodded and pulled him in for another kiss.

Remus shut the closet door and grabbed his morningstar. He stepped out the door and looked to his right to see Roman. The two shared a look and started down the stairs.

The two stopped in place when they saw their friend, Logan, being dragged by his hair. He looked scared. He never showed any emotions much so this was serious. Their gazes moved up to see Patton, Logan's crazy ass ex.

"LET HIM GO HEATHEN!" Roman screamed as he raised his sword. Patton stopped and smirked, pulling Logan up and holding him from behind.
"Why would I do that? Your highness." Patton said as he held Logan closer, causing the man to sqeak out in fear.
"BECAUSE OF THIS!" Remus had somehow made his way behind Patton as he went to bring his weapon down on the intruders head when...

BANG!

A loud gunshot rang out. Remus crumpled to the floor but not before grabbing Patton's neck, pulling him away from Logan long enough for him to run. Roman screamed out as he ran Patton through with his sword, killing him. He dropped the bloodied sword and rushed to his brother's side.

Remus' breathing was shallow as Roman rolled him over to see a bullet hole right below his heart. Roman was sobbing, trying to put pressure on the wound, to no avail. Remus was coughing up blood as he held Roman's hands.
"T-take *cough* c-care of J-Janus for *cough cough* me." he stuttered out between coughs.

Roman shook his head rapidly as he pulled Remus into his arms, muttering "Please don't leave me." over and over. Remus smiled as he held onto his brothers hand. They could hear sirens hut Remus knew, he wasn't going to make it. He squeezed his sobbing brothers hand with his last ounce of strength and whispered.
"I love you bro bro." before passing away into the darkness of death.

Roman clutched his brother's lifeless body in his arms as he screamed out in agony. Remus, his baby brother, was dead. Dead in his arms.

Dead. Dead. Dead.

The word echoed in his head as he rocked his siblings corpse in his arms. Whispering, "I love you baby bro." over and over. Hoping that if he said it enough, Remus would hear and wake up but no matter how hard he tried.

He would never wake up.

~the funeral~

Everybody was at the funeral.
Virgil.
Janus.
Logan.
Remy.
Emile.
Even their father came. Their mother never really like Remus so it wasn't surprising when only Father showed up.
Everyone was crying. They had all lost someone.
A close friend.
A son.
A lover.
Everyone was heart broken. Roman was the most out of them all. He just couldn't stop crying. He couldn't smile let alone laugh. It was too much.

It was too much seeing everyone crying. To much to see the black carpet and drapes. Too much to see his little brother, adorned in a green and black suit, in a oak wood casket. His body limp and chest unmoving. He was gone. Really gone.

The time came for the speeches. Virgil had to read Janus' as the poor boy hadn't spoken since his boyfriends death. Remy, Emile and Logan all spoke of the wonderful memories they had with him, which made Roman smile sadly.
Their father spoke about how much he wished he was there. How he wished he could have prevented it. Roman heard the sincerity in his voice. It also helped that his face showed sorrow as tears ran down his cheeks.

Roman walked up and stood in front of the casket.

"Remus was always the dumb brother. There's no denying that fact. But he was my brother and I loved him dearly. All the times we fought, he would always be there, waiting for forgiveness and willing to give it. He was the one who helped me confess to my beautiful boyfriend and I the same for him." he nodded at Virgil and Janus as the pair smiled.

"To know that he was taken from this world so soon, is overwhelming. To know that he'll never get to see his nephews or neices grow up or even his own child." he stepped down as he spoke and held Janus' hands for comfort. Janus smiled.

Roman walked back to the casket.
"There were five words he whispered in his dying moments. I want him to know that I reciprocate them. You'll always be in our hearts you dumbass." he choked out as he placed Remus' crown on top of his head at an angle, like he always had it.
"I love you bro bro." he said as fresh tears poured from his eyes.

So sorry for this but I read some really angsty stuff and this is what happened.

I'm going to make a happier alternate ending because otherwise I might cry. Also yes, Janus and Virgil in this are transgender and they had kids.
