BANG!
"Steve! We've been hit!"

"Where is the damaged spot?"

"One of the engines Captain."

*audible cursing from Steve*

"I'll try landing the plane safely, Alya. Try to do what you can."

"Rogers that, Cap. Oh, and watch your language!"

"Really, Alya, really?"

"You know you love it."

*mumbling* "That I do, Alya... You have no idea..."

"Sorry, what was that?"

"Nothing Alya, just feeling a bit of deja-vu."

"Okay, I'll go check on the en-"

BOOM!

"Cap... where are we?"

"I think we... crash landed on an... island."

"Steve, are you in.. pain? The shrapnel flew really far.."

"I'm... fine."

"No you're not Stevie. Let me help you."

"How?"

"Ummm... I may or may not be a trained... field nurse."

"Do we even have supplies?"

"Yup! I always bring extra on missions just in case."

*Steve tiredly chuckles.*

'Capsicle? Alley Cat? You guys alive?'

"Yes, Tony we are. I just sent the coordinates. But hurry, Steve's really hurt."

'You alright Capsicle?'

"I've been better."

'Alright. We're sending help right now. Hang tight.'

"Not like we can go anywhere, Tony..."

'Shut up, Alley Cat.'

"I'm not a cat... Jeez Steve, you have a lot of shrapnel in you... This is gonna hurt a lot."

"I can take it Alya, just do what you need to do."

"Okay."

~An Hour Later~

"All done... hey Steve? ... Come on.. stay with me."

"I'm trying... but it's hard."

"Hey, don't put my efforts all to waste!"

*Steve lightly chuckles, then frowns for the first time in his delirious state, that Alya is pale and sweating; like the sweat is dripping off her chin to make a small puddle sweating.*

"You're sweating a lot, Alya."

"Oh, that? I'll take care of it later."

*Steve begins to lose consciousness as the pain and exhaustion catches up to him.*

"Hey, Aly, can you stay with me?"

" 'Course... you know, I don't get it. I thought the serum would've healed you by now... Maybe it's just because there are too many injures or something?"

*Steve falls asleep listening to Alya's voice, thinking about how much he loves her and how he will finally tell her when they get back. However, he missed the most important thing Alya said. This, he would later find out from Natasha, who knew everything because of the many girl talks with Alya.*

"Stevie? I'm pretty sure you're not awake anymore, but I just wanted to tell you that I love you."

*With that, Alya laid down, facing Steve and cuddled him. She watched as Steve's arms went around her and held her close. Smiling softly, she gently kisses his lips and hugged him tighter. She hoped the first aid on Steve would work until the rescue team arrived. But sh knew for certain she would not be there to see. A poisonous substance fell into her mouth and she swallowed by reflex when they crashed. They didn't have an antidote because they were bringing it back from Hydra for the scientist to study and create the antidote. She was lucky that it was slow acting. With one last look at the man she love with all her heart, Alya slipped away into Death's welcoming embrace with a small smile on her face and a contented sigh.*

~A few hours later~

Steve awoke to the sound of helicopter blades. Squinting his eyes against the sun, he felt something on his torso. He looked down and noticed Alya seemingly sleeping on his chest although she was a little paler that usual. Smiling at the sight, he moved to gently remove her so he could show the helicopter a place to land. However, the smile soon turned into a frown as he felt how cold and stiff she was. His hand quickly moved to her wrist to find a pulse. Eyes widening in disbelief, he moved his ear to her chest and her mouth...nothing. Not a beat, not a breath, not even a flutter of eyelashes.

"NO!! NO! Alya! WAKE UP! DON'T LEAVE ME! PLEASE! Please... I love you... don't leave me..."

By know the helicopter had landed and the rescue team began running towards Steve and Alya. Tony, who had insisted on coming, reached the duo first. He looked on with masked sadness and surprise at Captain America crying. The rescue team had to pry Steve away from Alya's body as he sobbed. It wasn't much of a surprise. Captain America, the strong leader many people looked up to, was broken; forever without telling the woman he loved so dearly how much he truly loved her.

~2 weeks later~

Natasha Romanoff, just back from her solo mission had received the news that her friend, Alya, was dead. She walked to the Avengers 'common room' and saw Steve. Steve was a horrible sight; pale skin, red rimmed dull eyes, messed up hair clothes wrinkled and looked as if he hadn't washed them in a week. Recalling all the talks she had with Alta, Natasha decided to tell Steve what Alya had told her to do in case she died before telling him.

"She loved you, you know...with all her heart and soul. You meant the world to her."

Steve looked at Nat with a sad, broken smile.

"I loved her as much as she loved me..."

A tear rolled down his face as he regretted not telling Alya how much she meant to him when she was alive.

Alya would always have a place in his heart as long as he lived.
