"Bye girls!"

"Bye Patty!" Jessie and I say as we exit the bus. Jessie turns the doorknob.

"It's locked," she says.

"Do you have a key?"

"No, you?"

"Check under the rock." Jessie picks up a rock in the bushes.

"Found one." She unlocks the door. "Mom?" She yells.

My phone rings. It's Dad. I answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hey hun, I'm at the hospital." I hear a sadness in his voice.

"What? Is Mom okay?"

"What is is?" Jessie asks.

"Yeah, Mom. Your mother's fine. It's Rachel." I hear him crying.

"What's wrong?" Jessie asks.

"It's Rachel." I mouth to her.

"Honey," Dad says to get my attention. "Rachel. Sarah, there was a car accident. Rachel didn't make it." I drop my phone, my face turning white. Jessie scrambles to pick it up. She puts it on speaker. "I'm sorry."

"Was there anyone else in the car?" Jessie asks.

"The boys. Your brother. Michal, Michal and Lucas." I start crying.

"What? How are they?" Jessie asks.

"Luke, Lucas is fine. Just a few scratches, and maybe a concussion."

"And Michal?" I manage to get out through my tears.

"Michal's in a coma." I drop to the ground.

"I'll call Ms. Merlin. We'll be right there!" Everything goes black.
