Chapter 13

"But isn't Danny still in the hospital?" Cora questioned as we exited the room right as the bell went which meant the hall rapidly flooded with other teenagers. Stiles and I propped our bags on our backs

"Yeah." Stiles confirmed and slipped his hand into mine. "That's where we're going right now."

"I'll meet you there." Scott said, staring down at his phone.

"Why?" Stiles asked. Scott held the phone up, showing us a text from Allison. 'I think I've found something."

...

Stiles and I snuck through the halls of the hospital with our hands linked and I held that I picked up on the way in my other hand, a cream card nestled between the blossoms. We separated once we got to Danny's room. Stiles opened the door for me, I slipped in and he closed it quietly behind us.

Stiles leant by Danny's bed as I put the flowers in a vase. "Danny, you awake?" He whispered and shook his shoulder. "Danny." He tapped his face, I stared at him with a raised eyebrow as he slapped it a few more times.

"Stiles..." I warned quickly but he raised his arm once more, slapping his with the back of his hand. Danny took a deep, loud breath and we jumped back in surprise. "I told you!" I hissed.

"You didn't tell me anything." He countered, shouting in a whisper.

"I said your name, it's been over a year, that should be enough of a warning by now." I whispered back. Stiles ignored me and looked down to see Danny's bag. He pecked my temple as I rolled my eyes before bobbing down and opening it loudly. "Stiles." I groaned quietly and bobbed down besides him, grabbing his hands to stop him from making so much noise but it was too late.

"What're you doing?" Danny asked groggily. Stiles knelt back up and looked at him.

"I'm not doing anything, Danny." Stiles told him. "This is just a dream that you're having." He nodded at the silence and resumed looking through the bag - thankfully he was more quiet this time.

"Are you going through my stuff." He grumbled.

"Right, but only in the dream, remember? Dream. You're dreaming." He sing-songed and I tried to hold back a giggled and succeeded thank you very much.

"Why would I dream about you going through my stuff?"

"I don't know that, Danny, okay?" He snapped. "It's your dream. Take responsibility for it. Shut up and go back to sleep." A slight giggled passed my lips and Stiles quickly pressed a finger to them with a grin. He took it away, placing a quick kiss where his finger was before going back to Danny's bag. He found something and pulled out a pile of papers. " Oh, Danny boy, you might've actually found something here."

...

"Deaton's got to be at one of the six locations, but they're all over town. I don't know how we can get to all of them fast enough." Scott said from over the phone which Stiles held in front of us on speakerphone as we walked outside the front of the hospital. I held the rolled up report in one hand as Stiles' hand gripped my other one.

"Well, we might not have to." Stiles answered. "Danny was doing a project on something for Mr. Harris's physics class, and I think it actually means something."

"What project?" Scott asked. I flipped the paper open.

"Something on Telluric currents." I told him.

"Did you say currents?" He asked nervously.

"Yeah." Stiles answered.

"Okay. We'll meet at the Clinic. Bring Rori, I'll get Cora and Lydia."

...

"Okay, so, what does this kid's homework have to do with finding Deaton?" Cora asked. We stood around Deaton's metal operating table. Cora and Scott on one side, Stiles and I on the other and Lydia stood at the head.

"Because it's not just homework, okay? It's a project on geomagnetic fields. They flow through the earth. They can even be affected by lunar phases, all right?" Stiles explained. "Now, look at this." He opened the report to the front page. "This is a note from Harris on Danny's proposal." I leant over and read the words that painted the page in red ink.

"'I strongly advise you to choose another subject. The ideas here, while innovative and thoughtful, border on pseudo-science. Not suitable for class.'" My brows furrowed.

"Harris wasn't just a sacrifice." Scott stated. "He knew something." But what did he know? I thought, biting my bottom lip.

"Now, check this out. Allison's dad wasn't the only one with a map, all right? Danny had one too." He laid the map flat on the table as my eyes drifted to the Argents' blue map that was divided into several parts. I ran my fingers along the grid lines, looking up as I compared it to Danny's. "Danny marked all the telluric currents, okay? Now, the weird thing about Beacon Hills is that it actually is a beacon. You wouldn't believe how much energy flowing through the earth is around this town."

"Stiles..." I trailed off and he looked down at me. "I think they match." I moved the pieces over to lay over Danny's map. He stared at my finding with wide eyes.

"Yeah!" Scott agreed enthusiastically. "All right, there's three places, right? Where they're kidnapped," He circled 'Beacon Hills Animal Clinic' on Danny's copy of the map. "And then the place where their body was found." He circled 'Oakwood Rd'.

"Look, that's right on the telluric current." Lydia told us, pointing at it.

"So, maybe where he was sacrificed is somewhere in between." Scot suggested.

"Let me see that." Scott passed the pen over to Stiles. " You said there's six more bodies to be found. Deaton's one of them." He put a cross on the Clinic. "Got to be somewhere in between, right?" He rain his hand over the map, searching for where it could be.

"Stop." Cora said suddenly and we all looked up at her. Stiles paused. She pointed to the map at 'Beacon Hills First National'. "He's in the vault. He's in the same vault."

"Let's go then." I said and the group nodded. We packed everything up hurried towards the door.

"Guys, hold on." Lydia called and we all turned.

"It's Boyd." Cora said, looking down at her phone. "The plan didn't work. They cut the power." I felt my breath get caught in my throat. Without the power, their apartment would just be filled with water like a depressing aquarium, except instead fish as the main exhibits, it'd be werewolves. Stiles' hand slipped into mine, sending me a reassuring squeeze.

I looked back to Scott, "It's just like he said." He mumbled under his breath.

"Scott, maybe we should split up." I suggested. There was no way I was going to let any of them die. Scott nodded.

"Go. I can save Deaton myself." I stared at him hesitantly. Sure, I wanted to split up, but I didn't want Scott to have to do it alone. He sighed and came over, resting his hands on my shoulders, noticing my reluctance. "Go." He urged. "I'll be fine." I stared at him before nodding. He rushed out of the room and I heard the sound of his bike start up an ride off.

I tugged Stiles towards the Jeep, Cora and Lydia following. I ushered the two girls in and Stiles jumped in the drivers seat. I began closing the door. "Rora!" Stiles called, noticing I was on the wrong side of the door and I opened it back up again. "What're you doing!?"

"I can get there quicker-"

"Get in." He demanded. "I'm not letting you rush in there only to get hurt. You're getting in this Jeep now and we're coming up with a plan first." I sighed but didn't say anything as I jumped in the car, knowing if we argued about it we'd only waste more time. Stiles sped off, needless to say, his dad would not be proud of the speed he was going. I felt his hand slip into mine and I turned to him. Again, his father wouldn't be proud. He gave me a small, sad, smile in an attempt to comfort me. All I could do was send one back.

...

We sprinted into the electricity room, ignoring the 'Authorised Personnel Only' sign. "Okay," Stiles began as we stared at the copious amount of levers. "What do we do?"

"We pull them." Cora answered. "Pull all of them." We were quick to grasp them, switching each one as Stiles texted Isaac. The lights switched back on and we all looked at each other. I turned to Stiles.

"I've got to go up there." He stared into my eyes for a moment before finally nodding.

"Okay." He said unwillingly. "We'll meet you up there." I place a small peck on his lips before flying away from the small group.

As soon as I reappeared I felt my muscles seize up and a scream escaped my lips, tearing at my throat. It felt like my blood turned to lava as it travelled through my body, burning and searing everything it came across. When it stopped, I struggled to get my breath as I fell to the floor, gasping like a fish out of water. I looked around, my once blurred vision clearing.

"Take him!" Kali screamed to Ethan and Aiden who waded through the water. The twins gripped Derek's weak body, holding his arms out. I stumbled up but was inevitably too late as Kali pulled Boyd up and dropped him onto Derek's claws. I gasped in shock as Boyd dropped onto his knees, Derek's claws still impaled in him. "I'm giving you till the next full moon, Derek." She said, walking away as if killing an innocent teenager meant nothing to her, which is probably didn't. " Make the smart choice. Join the pack..." She turned. "Or next time I'm killing all of you." She walked up the stairs, past Isaac and Miss Blake, Ethan and Aiden following her.

"No, no, no." Derek mumbled.

"It's okay." Boyd comforted drowsily. I took a shaky breath as tears dripped onto my cheeks. But I didn't dare move, not wanting to intrude on him and Derek.

"No, no. No, it's not. It's not." Derek stuttered in reply.

"It's all okay, Derek." The man in question shook his head.

"I'm...l'm sorry." He apologised.

"The full moon. That feeling... That was worth it. There's a lunar eclipse. I always wondered what... What that felt like for one of us. For one of us..." Boyd breathed his last and fell back from Derek's hands.

I let out a choked sob and pressed my face into my hands. I looked back up to Derek and walked over to him slowly. I press a hand to his shoulder. He looked up at me, despair clear in his gaze. He opened his arms and I fell into the welcomed embrace as Derek moved backwards to sit on his legs. His grip on me was so tight, I was surprised I didn't disappear. But I was sure mine was equally as firm as I cried into his shoulder. I could feel Derek's body shaking with sobs under my hands which only made me strengthen my grip on him. I heard Cora's weeping and a hand rub down my back. I looked up with red-rimmed eyes to see Stiles, whose eyes glistened in the moonlight.

...

I stood from Derek's embrace and held out my hand to him. He took it and I heaved him up. He blinked quickly and turned to leave up the stairs but I tugged him back, taking his face in my hands. "Derek," I began, "I'm so sorry you had to do that." He didn't say anything. He didn't even give me any indication that he'd heard or listened to me. But I knew he did. I got to the tips of my toes and pecked his forehead, dropping my hands from his face. He stood for a moment before retreating to his room.

I looked up at the group. Cora still wept over Boyd's body, but I couldn't even look over there for fear of having another break down. Stiles stood off to the side with Lydia and Isaac stood alone, his eyes glued to the ground. He looked up and once he noticed Derek had left he came right over to me, rushing through the water before he encompassed me in a hug.

"He's gone." Isaac whispered and I nodded. "He's gone, he's gone." He repeated and I wished I could tell him something. Anything. But I had nothing. I had no Rori rant that could fix this. I had no comforting words, no words of encouragement. Nothing.

...

I walked out of my wardrobe in my pyjamas and saw Stiles sitting on the bed with Rilien's head in his lap. Right where I left them. When I entered, both of their heads popped up in sync and despite what'd happened mere hours ago, I couldn't help the small smile that came to my face as I stared at them. My boys. Rilien moved from Stiles and further up the bed, resting his head on one of the pillows. I moved to the pale boy, slipping between his legs. He gripped my waist lightly and pulled me onto his lap so my legs were on either side of his hips. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my face in his neck.

"I love you." I muttered to him.

"I love you, too." He replied. "So, so much." I brought my head from his shoulder and looked into his eyes.

"Not even so, so, so, much?" I joked and he tilted his head in thought.

"Hmm, I think you have to earn the third 'so'." I smiled at him.

"I think I earned the third 'so' along time ago with all the trouble you tend to drag me in." I teased and he chuckled and inched his face closer to mine, nudging his nose against my own.

"Admit it, you loved having all those detentions with me." I smiled at him, intoxicated by his eyes, his proximity. Everything about him made me crave him. The fact that after such a shitty day, he could make me smile and laugh only strengthened my love for him.

"Maybe." I replied, not able to think of anything else to say as he pressed his lips gently to mine. As we pulled back, I brought a hand to his cheek, running my thumb along his cheekbone. He leant into my hand and looked up at me with a dazed smile. "What?" I asked, tilting my head.

"You're so beautiful and I'm so lucky to have you back."
