Chapter 23
---------------------------------------
3RD PERSON
----------------------------------------------------------
"I'm not just letting you leave them." Stiles said.
"You have no choice Stiles, you're coming with me." Peter denied, wiping crimson blood from his lips.
"Just kill me!" Stiles said desperately. "Look, I don't care anymore." Peter pressed his claws into Stiles' neck, forcing him to stand. He drew back.
"Call your friend." He demanded. "Tell Jackson where they are. That's all you get."
"B-But how's he supposed to help both?" Stiles asked and Peter shrugged.
"It's his decision who he helps first." Stiles shook his head frantically, gulping nervously.
"No. He won't help Rori." Peter sighed and rolled his eyes, pulling Stile down to kneel next to Rori.
"Look." He pointed at Rori's neck which, along with blood, was dropping black ooze due to Peter being the alpha. "She's healing already."
"That doesn't look like healing." Stiles replied shakily as he cautiously laid a hand on her cheek, feeling her pale, sweaty skin and shallow, fast breathing and he became even more worried about her.
"It's either Jackson comes and collects them or no one does." Stiles nodded, pressing a kiss to Rori's forehead before he stood up.

Jackson dropped to his knees in front of Rori and Lydia. He stared at the wigs protruding from Rori's back and jumped when she grabbed his arm in a weak grip, his head turning to her quickly.
"W-What are you?" He asked with wide eyes.
"Get Lydia to help." She mumbled tiredly, with pain evidently lacing her voice.
"But what about you-?"
"I'll heal. Take Lydia. Now." She said firmly. He stared into her eyes for a moment before nodding. Rori breathed a sigh of relief and took her hand off Jackson. He scooped Lydia up in his arms, looking at Rori one last time, receiving the faintest not of confirmation before he was running to help.
Rori focussed her remaining energy into retracting her wings back into her skin so as not to arouse any suspicion from any passers-by. She could feel the continuous blood trickling down her neck and swallowed, a sharp pain stabbed at her causing her to gasp. Her breaths were quick. All she could do was lie there in pain, slowly regaining any strength she could.

"Don't feel bad. If Lydia lives she'll become a werewolf." Peter told Stiles as if it were supposed to comfort him. "She'll be incredibly powerful."
"Yeah, and once a month, she'll go out of her freaking mind and try to tear people apart." Stiles replied.
"Well, actually, considering that she's a woman - twice a month." Stiles looked at him in disgust.
"And what about Rori huh?" Stiles asked.
"Well she should heal." Peter replied.
"Wait, should? What happened to she will heal!?" Stiles asked apoplectically with pure hatred.
"I've never cut an angel's throat. Who knows what could happen." Peter said with a smirk. Stiles tried to reign in belligerence. Knowing the alpha was deliberately trying to get a rise out of him so he kept him mouth shut, choosing instead to keep his eyes on the road.

AURORA'S POV
----------------------------------------------------------
Once I had gained enough energy to travel, I did just that. I aimed for my bedroom and surprisingly enough, landed on the soft white carpet. Pain shot through my body and I groaned. I heard the pitter patter of paws and smiled a dozy smiled at the sight of Rilien prancing up to me. I felt his cold, wet nose nudge my face as he licked my cheek. I felt some, albeit very little, of the pain leave my body. He nudged himself under my arms and curled up in front of my. I squeezed him tightly and buried my face into his soft fur. Energy drained into my body quicker than it normally would and I stared at Rilien in shock. Then I remembered when Lydia first gave him to me.
"Close your eyes!" She called over and I closed my eyes, covering them. "Ok! Open!" I did as she said and I saw her holding a fluffy German Shepherd puppy in her arms. My jaw dropped and I looked at her in shock.
"W-What?" I stuttered.
"Well...I haven't seen you in two years...and...you were complaining about wanting a familiar." She said.
"Lyd, you can't just give me a familiar. It has to be a bond." I said and she rolled her eyes.
"At least hold him." She said and held the puppy out to me. I hesitantly took the puppy from her hands. I set him in my lap, but held onto the top of his body so he was standing in an upright position like a human. I looked him in the eyes, glancing at Lydia. She motioned me to keep doing whatever it was that I was doing. I looked the puppy in the eyes again. The room was tense but after a few second he just yipped at licked my nose. I giggled, causing him to wag his tail and bark again, licking all around my face.
"...So?" Lydia drawled with a grin. "Was I right?"
"Yes, ok, you were right." I laughed and hugged him to my chest.
I closed my eyes tightly and a small sob escaped my body, the sight of the normally imperfect Lydia covered in her own blood as she fell to the floor was now engraved on my brain. Anger surged through my body at the thought of Peter. He'd killed so many people and now he dared touch my family? He was definitely not going to get away with it. With renewed vigour, I stood.
(outfit: on the side/at the top)
Ril got up and hopped onto the bed, watching me enter my bathroom. I stood at the sink and pulled a flannel, soaking it under the cold water and began dabbing at the still very prevalent wound marring my neck. Once I cleaned it up, I dried it off with a towel and disinfected it before I made my way into the wardrobe, straight to what Lydia and I would call our 'badass bit'. Highly creative, I know. When I got to the section all I found was black, leather and denim. I don't know what ever possessed us to get a designated part of our wardrobe for badassery but boy am I glad now.
I donned my metaphorical armour and made my way back into the main room. I tied my hair up in a ponytail and looked in the mirror with a sad smile on my face. If Lydia saw me now...my thoughts were interrupted by my buzzing phone. I picked it up and read the texts. Six from Natalie, three from Jackson and one from Stiles. I read Natalie's first.
Sent 40 mins ago: The hospital's just called me. There's something wrong with Lydia.
Sent 30 mins ago: I've just got to the hospital, come as soon as you can.
Sent 20 mins ago: Lydia's not doing very well.
Sent 10 mins ago: Where are you?
Sent 8 mins ago: Are you okay?
Sent 7 mins ago: Please answer.
I sighed and tapped away at my phone.
Sent 10 seconds ago: I will be there as soon as possible. There's something I have to do for Lydia first. Please, if anything happens before I get there let me know.
I then read Jackson's
Sent 35 mins ago: Lydia's at the hospital.
Sent 20 mins ago: I hope you're okay.
Sent 15 mins ago: I'm sorry.
I decided that although it was sweet of Jackson to worry about me, I couldn't waste time replying so I moved onto Stiles' text instead.
Sent 30 mins ago: I'm so sorry. I'm at the hospital with Jackson right now. Lydia's not doing so good but she's okay. Please God I hope you're alive. I can't believe I just left you like that. Please forgive me, I love you so much. Let me know you're okay.
I couldn't help the smile that overtook my face, no matter the depressing mood I was in. I texted back quickly.
Sent 10 seconds ago: Don't worry about it, thank you for protecting Lydia and I. I love you, Stiles.
I quickly received a reply.
Sent 1 second ago: Oh thank God you're okay. I was so worried. We're going to try to find Scott at the reserve. Meet there.

I teleported in front a wounded Scott and Derek, facing Kate and Allison. My eyes changed, my body glowed and my hair fell from it's ponytail and blew in the wind. Both Kate and Allison stared at me as I rolled my shoulders, extended my arms and leant my head back, feeling my wings extended and rip through my leather jacket, although I didn't care at this point. Once my wings were fully out, I brought my head back down to look at them and let my arms drop Both stared at me in shock when eventually a smirk fell onto Kate's.
"Well if it isn't little Aurora Carter." I tilted my head in confusion by otherwise kept a straight face. "It's been a long time since I've seen you but...you haven't met me. How has it been growing up without a dad, only then to have your mother taken away from you?" I tensed up and tried to keep my face neutral. "What bullshit lie did your mother tell you to cover for your daddy's death." My eyes narrowed and my jaw tightened as she stepped towards me. "What was it?" She asked and took another step. "Run over by a car?" She paused, waiting for me to answer. "Attacked by a mad man on the street? Cancer?" She went to ask another but noticed my fists clench. She let out a laugh. "Cancer? Really? Even I could come up with something better than that!" She stepped even closer. "It was easy kill your father, really. There's a special Egyptian oil that kills angels, it's expensive but oh so worth it." She took another step towards me. "Your mother however. She was difficult. But it was simple in the end, just...clip the breaks add some wolfsbane into the air conditioning system, shoot her with a wolfsbane laced bullet after just to be sure and hey presto...dead angel." By now she was nose to nose with me and I was blinking rapidly to try and rid the tears from my eyes. "I can't believe I've managed to kill two angels but I could definitely go for a third." My glare hardened and I smashed my fist into her face. She yelped and fell back. "Allison!" She cried, gripping a hand to her bloodied nose. I looked up into Allison's eyes and she let an arrow fly. It slammed into my shoulder and I let out a shout of pain.
I grit my teeth and spun around, grabbing at Scott and Derek's jackets, quickly pulling them up and running to the clearing in front of the Hale house. We all fell to the floor. I felt my shoulder as well as my neck throb. I sat up and gripped the arrow, letting out a a grunt at the ache it left when I pulled it out.
Kate was back on her feet following Allison as they too came into the clearing.
"Allison, I can explain." Scott begged, squinting as he was still affected by the flash bolt arrow that soared at him earlier.
"Stop lying." She said firmly. "For once stop lying."
"I was gonna tell you the truth at the formal. I was gonna tell you everything. Because everything that I said, everything that I did -" He began.
"Was to protect me." Allison butted in, obviously having heard it before.
"Yes." Scott answered truthfully.
"I don't believe you." She said but you could hear that she did believe him, even if it was just a small part of her.
"Allison," I pleaded and she turned to me. "It's true. We didn't want you to get hurt. That doesn't mean we think your weak, we just couldn't have handled it if you got hurt because of us." Her gaze softened but not by much. You could tell this whole situation pained her.
"I still don't believe you." She said.
"Thank God. Now, shoot him before I have to shoot myself." Kate said.
"You - you said we were just gonna catch them?" Allison asked nervously.
"We did that. Now we're gonna kill them." She shot Derek in the chest.
"No!" I shouted and began to get up.
"Rori." Derek mumbled in warning but she shot me twice, once in each wing. I cried out in pain and drew my wings towards myself.
"See? Not that hard." Kate then turned to Allison's horrified face who was glancing at me and Scott then to Kate with an open mouth.
"Oh, no - I know that look. That's the 'you're gonna have to do it yourself' look." Kate then turned the gun on Scott and I, constantly changing, trying to figure out which one to shoot first.
"Kate, Kate, what are you doing?" Allison protested but Kate pushed her to the ground. I glared at her.
"Don't hurt her." I snapped and she raised an eyebrow at me but otherwise ignored me. She made up her mind and aimed the gun as Scott.
"I love those brown eyes." She sighed but was interrupted by Chris, Allison's father.
"Kate!" She turned as he walked up. "I know what you did. Put the gun down."
"I did what I was told to do." She replied and kept the gun aimed at Scott.
"No one asked you to murder innocent people. There were children in that house, ones who were human. Plus the angels, they had never hurt anyone and you turned a child parentless." His eyes flickered over to me as if trying to apologise with one, short look. "Look what you're doing now. You're holding a gun at two sixteen year old kids with no proof they spilled human blood." I felt Scott grab my hand and I squeezed it back nervously. "We go by the code - Nous chassons ceux qui nous chassent."
"We hunt those who hunt us." Allison whispered to herself thoughtfully. Kate went to pull the trigged but Chris pulled out a gun and aimed it at her instead.
"Put the gun down." He shot at the tree behind her. She turned to him in shock. "Before I put you down." She lowered the gun and Scott and I let out breaths of relief.
Everyone's attentions were turned to the door of the Hale house which was opening slowly. Without lowering the gun that was pointed at Kate, Chris said to his daughter,
"Allison, get back." Scott, Allison and I stood up and face the door. All guns now trained at the dark space. I got prepared for a fight, lifting my limp wings up as far as they would go without causing too much pain.
"What is it?" Allison asked.
"The alpha." Scott and I replied.
In the blink of an eye, a dog like figure madly dashed out. It sprinted around us, taking us to the ground one by one. First it was Chris, then Allison, then me, then Scott and finally Kate was the last one standing.
"Come on!" She screamed, turning frantically and rain began to sprinkle down on us. "Come on!" She yelled again but as she turned once more, her arm was grabbed by Peter. He forced her to empty the gun cartridge by bending her arm and firing off the shots. Once he was done, he slammed his fist into her wrist, probably breaking it. He grabbed her by the throat and threw her onto the porch of the house. He then grabbed her and dragged her inside.
"No!" Allison said in alarm and ran into the house.
"We have to go in." I said to Scott and I struggled to get up, stumbling dizzily but he shook his head.
"No. You're staying out here. You're hurt enough as it is." I went to protest but I saw the logic in his statement. Knowing I wouldn't be of any use in there, I nodded.
"Okay." He sprinted in and Christ stood next to me.
"I'm so sorry for everything with your parents, Aurora." He apologised and I shook my head.
"Please...not now." I turned to look at him tiredly. He stared at me a moment before nodding, understanding before something else caught his eye.
"Are you okay? Your wings..." He trailed off and I looked at them, lots of the feathers were coated in blood. I nodded.
"Yeah...I'm fine." I waved him off and crossed my arms.
"No, you're suffering from blood loss. Look, you're swaying." I looked down at my feet and noticed that I was indeed swaying from side to side. My vision darkened slightly and I began to fall back. Argent's arms were around my waist in a second and he held me up straight. Allison suddenly came staggering out of the building. She sprinted over to us, tears in her eyes and we could already guess what'd happened. Her gaze fell on my wings that have now fallen beside me on the floor and my groggy state. We all stood there, watching the building closely. I felt another wave of nausea and dizziness come over to me and I began to crumple to my knees Argent holding me as I fell and Allison knelt next to me, being wary of my wings. My head lulled forward. Chris grabbed the back of my neck lightly whilst Allison looked on in concern.
"Hey, you've gotta stay awake, okay?" I nodded and gulped. I felt his fingers press into my neck for my heartbeat. "Your pulse is slowing down-" but before he could finish what he was going to say Scott came crashing into the clearing from being thrown through the window.
The alpha gripped Scott and pulled him off his feet. I shook my head and tried to get up but was immediately pulled back down my Allison and Chris. Scott kicked the alpha in the chest and flung himself backwards, causing the alpha to fall back as well. I saw a car pull up and the alpha was distracted when the driver beeped. I watched as a familiar figure threw a self igniting molotov cocktail which was caught by the werewolf. My eyes widened and I went to stand up one more but was pulled back down again.
"Allison!" Scott shouted and threw her her bow. She stood and caught it, drew back an arrow and fired at the beaker in the alpha's hand. It lit up and the whole of the werewolf's arm caught fire. It began waving it around in distress when Jackson threw another cocktail at it, this time it's whole body was engulfed in flames. It caught sight of Allison and began to move towards her. I stood quickly and pushed her back, standing in front of her protectively.
"No!" Scott shouted and attacked Peter who slunk back, injured. He continued in a desperate attempt to escape as he fell to his knees and back into his human form. Peter was once again covered in burns as he fell backward, seemingly dead
Allison squeezed my hand and stood up, making her way to Scott. I saw Stiles, still standing by Jackson's Porsche. We made eye contact and I immediately stood up and lurched towards him, falling into his arms. He held me tightly, as if he was worried I would float away. Pain was flaring in me but I couldn't even care about it, being too overwhelmed with the relief that I was back in Stiles' arms. He gripped the back of my neck and my waist and I wrapped my arms around his back. I began to cry, not sad crying but also not happy crying. The kind of crying you do when you're just so relieved that something's over. He ran his hand through hair.
"I love you. I love you. I love you." I whispered repeatedly as my legs began to get weak again, the adrenaline wearing off.
"It's okay." He comforted as we sank to the ground. "I love you, too. It's okay."
"Oh God." We heard Jackson whisper and we both looked over to Derek who was stood over Peter's sizzling body. He knelt down and Scott quickly stood.
"Wait!" He protested desperately. "You said the cure comes from the one who bit you." Derek closed his eyes guiltily. Chris collected Allison and pulled her away, protectively into her arms. "Derek. If you do this, I'm dead. Her father, her family - what am I supposed to do?" Everyone waited in a tense silence.
"You've...already...decided..." Peter whispered to Derek. "I can smell it on you!" Peter growled, his eyes shining red. Derek raised his arm.
"Wait! No, no! Don't!" Scott begged but it was all in vain as Derek's claws came down, slashing through Peter's throat. I reeled back into Stiles as Peter made awful gasping sounds before finally breathing his last breath. Derek stood and turned to us with red eyes.
"I'm the alpha now." He said with a dark undertone. My eyes widened and Stiles' grip on me tightened.

I sat in a doze with my head by Lydia's arm on her hospital bed, my hand firmly gripped in hers. I heard the sounds of the hospital door creaking closed. My eyes snapped opened and I stared at the wall, waiting for anymore noise. The creaking came again and my head popped up and I looked over to Stiles and Scott both sitting on the floor by the door. Stiles tried pushing the door but the sounds of the hinges protesting rang through the room again. He decided to keep on pushing slowly, the squeaking constantly sounding until the pale boy slammed himself against the wood loudly, locking the lock.
"The door doesn't squeak as much if you just close it at a normal speed." I told them and they eyes quickly looked over to me and I raised an eyebrow. Stiles came over and pressed a kiss to the crown of my head.
"How are you feeling?" He asked and I nodded.
"Much better." I told him with a smile.
"Good." He said happily and pressed his soft lips to mine. We pulled back and I smiled at him before pecking his lips one last time and he situated himself on the arm of my chair. Scott moved Lydia's arm and looked at the wound.
"Is it completely healed?" Stiles asked and Scott shook his head confused.
"No, not at all."
"I don't get it. The doctor said she'd be fine." Stiles said and I nodded along in agreement.
"Yeah, but the bite's not healing like it did with me. Which means - She's not a werewolf."
"Then what the hell is she?" I asked.
