Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Episode 1 - The Pilot - Part 1
I tossed and turned, too nervous to sleep. I rolled over and checked the time. 11pm. Even though I knew I should have proper sleep before my first day at a new school, I also knew I wouldn't be getting any sleep. So I rolled out of bed, causing Rilien to pop his head up. I stripped out of my pjs and put on my clothes. I connected Ril to a lead that Lydia and Natalie got for him before sneaking out of the house. I plugged in my earphones before rushing off down the road with Ril trotting along next to me. In about thirty minutes I had reached the woods. I could either go back or explore. Making up my mind, I picked up my pace again and made my way through the dense trees. I heard barking and slowed down. I saw Ril's ears flick up. I pulled my hood up as the rain started. I walked forward, taking each step with caution.
"Scott?" I heard being called out. Flashlights started to appear in my view and the barking got louder. I bundled Rilien into my arms and flung myself behind a tree, panting quietly, trying to even out my breathing.
I heard the men leaving. But another pair of footsteps made their way to me. I stepped out from behind the tree in caution, keeping Ril in my arms. I noticed a boy around my age in a red hoodie walking near me, looking around, his breathing labored. Asthmatic. I immediately thought. I stepped out from behind the tree fully, causing him to jump slightly.
"Are you ok?" I asked quietly and he nodded. I put Rilien on the ground and offered him my hand.
"I'm Aurora, but you could call my Rori if you'd like." He started at my hand a few moments before blinking.
"Oh, sorry. I'm Scott. Are you new?" He asked and I nodded and we kept walking. After a few moments we both stopped, noticing something was wrong. He started to shake his inhaler when deers started to run at us. I dropped to the floor, pulling Scott down with me. I pulled Ril to my chest covering him mostly and curled up around him. Still gripping the sleeve of Scotts jumper I yelled to him,
"Stay still!" He obeyed and stopped squirming. After a few moments, the last deer went overhead and we both sat up.
"Oh god." He breathed before getting up, he offered me his hand and I took it, pulling myself up. "You ok?" He asked and I nodded letting out a breathless laugh.
"You?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I dropped my inhaler though." He flicked on his phone, shining a light towards the ground. I followed his lead with my own.
"You don't have to help." He told me as we kept looking.
"It's no problem. I couldn't sleep anyway, new school and all." I told him and he nodded in understanding.
"Are you going to Beacon Hills High?" I nodded and he grinned at me.
"I go there."
"Awesome! I already have a friend thats going but I don't know if I'll fit into that crowd."
"Who's your friend?"
"Lydia Martin." He made a choking sound and I looked up at him confused.
"Sorry. It's just that I didn't know someone as nice as you could be friends with...um...her." He said nervously and I laughed.
"Yeah. She can be pretty rude, but I've known her most of my life, so I'm kinda used to it." I said, getting back to looking for his inhaler.
"Oh. Well, if you need a friend or somewhere to sit, just let me know." He said and gave me a small smile.
"Thanks, Scott."
"No problem." He replied as we lapsed into a comfortable silence. After a few minutes I heard Scott let out a yelp. I turned back and saw him backing away from the body of a young woman. I looked back up at Scott and noticed he was getting closer to the edge of a hill.
"Scott!" I called but he had already began to tumble down. I ran to the edge and slid down, my hip burying into dirt and stones. Before I could get to the bottom, I watched as something lunged at Scott. Werewolf. He bit Scott and I pulled him up. He stumbled as I dragged him though the woods. Ril ended up running next to us as we occasionally stole a look behind us. In a few short seconds we made it onto a road, blinded by headlights as a car swerved around us.
"Oh my god. Are you ok?" I panted and he lifted his shirt up slightly showing the bite mark. I looked at him in pity.
"I don't know." He replied. "We should probably be getting home he said as we began walking down the street.
"Well, way to make first impressions, huh." I said with a cheeky grin and he laughed. Once we parted ways, I picked Ril up teleported back to the Martin house, got changed and flopped on the bed with Rilien at my side. Already knowing that this year was going to be a bit different.
. . .
"...Rori..." I heard being mumbled near my ear. "Rori... Rori!" I groaned and rolled over burying my face into my pillow.
"AURORA KAYLEE CARTER!" Lydia screamed and my widened as I flopped comically off the bed. "Good. Now I have your oh so important hot chocolate here. I've already laid out your outfit, all you have to do is shower, get changed and do you makeup and hair, but I'll help you with them." She flipped her hair over her shoulder before walking out of the room. I looked down at Ril before telling him,
"Go get yourself some food, ok?" He barked and trotted out of my room, going downstairs to the kitchen. I yawned and picked myself up form the floor, rubbing lazily at my eyes. I walked to the bathroom, stripping off my clothes and hopping in, letting the hot water massage my back. Luckily for me, you only have to wash your wings several times a month, so they weren't in need of a cleaning for a while. I got out, wrapping a towel around my body and hair. I pressed my lips to the plastic top and took a sip of my hot chocolate and smiled as the warm drink slid down my throat. I walked back over to my bed and smiled at the outfit. I was lucky Lydia even let me near a ten foot radius of this shirt. I pulled it on and called out to Lydia. (outfit in the external link)
"Lyd, I'm changed!" She barged in my room as though she was waiting outside. She ushered me to the seat of my vanity and pushed me in it. She put my hair into loose waves before going onto a natural makeup.
"Ok, you're ready. Grab your bag, put your shoes on and lets get going!" She called moving out of the room and down the stairs. I slid my feet into my boots and picked up my leather satchel. Before leaving the room I picked up my drink, feeling the warmth through the cardboard-y cup. I rushed down the stairs and Ril came trotting up to me. I put my cup on the ground as I crouched down.
"Hi beautiful!" I grinned and rubbed behind his ears, watching as his tail wagged back and forth excitedly.
"Stop making kissy faces at him and lets go!" Lydia shouted and a pout formed of my face.
"I don't wanna leave him." I whined. She gave me a pointed look and I sighed.
"Goodbye my brilliant boy." I pecked the top of his head and stood up. He followed me to the door and with one last pat to the head, I was out.
"Quick, in the car." She demanded and I hopped in. After ten minutes of aimless conversations we reached the school and my hands began to shake.
"You nervous?" Lydia asked walking over to me. I nodded and let out a shaky laugh, causing her to smiled softly at me. "You'll be fine. Besides, if someone messes with you...I'll kick their ass." I smiled at her and pulled her into a hug. She squeezed me back quickly before letting go.
"Ok, lets get this over with." I mumbled to myself. We walked up to the front of the school. When I say walk... I mean that I walked, Lydia strutted.
"Hey, Lydia - You look...Like you're gonna ignore me." I saw a boy with short hair say to Lyd before turning back to his friend, who I soon noticed was Scott. I looked back at Lydia who was still walking through the school door and rolled my eyes, moving to stand with Scott.
"Hey Scott!" I grinned and he looked at me surprised. His friend spun around at the sound of my voice and watched Scott and I with an open mouth and wide eyes.
"Oh! Hey!" The boy then hit Scott in the stomach, not taking his eyes off me. Scott hit his hand back and smiled.
"Aurora this is Sties Stilinski. Stiles, this is Aurora...." He trailed off, not knowing my last name.
"Carter." I jumped in and Scott nodded. I turned to the boy and offered him my hand which he quickly took after snapping his mouth closed.
"Hi, you can call me Rori if you'd like."
"N-nice to m-meet you." He stuttered still shaking my hand. I let out and laugh and he quickly pulled it back blushing. I grinned and turned back to Scott.
"So, are you ok Scott?" I asked in concern and he nodded before pulling his shirt up and I cringed.
"How did you know about that?" Stiles asked confused.
"I was there." I replied.
"Oh!" He said, realising it was me who Scott was with.
"Anyway! I've gotta head to the reception, it was nice meeting you Stiles!" I sent them a grin before walking off.
. . . . .
THIRD PERSON
. . . . .
"Oh. My. God!" Stiles shouted after she walked away. "Dude! Did you see what she was wearing!" Stiles kept rambling and Scott looked at him amused. "Do you know her!?" He finished.
"Yeah, like I said before, she was the one that helped me out of the woods...She's also Lydia's best friend." Stiles' eyes widened. "I also said that she could sit with us....it that ok with you?" Scott smirked.
"Is it- Is it ok with me!? Of course it's ok with me! Why would you think it wasn't ok with me?" He said and put his hand on his hips. "Do you think she actually likes Star Wars?" he asked after a moment of silence
"I don't know. I guess you'll have to ask."
"Seriously!? How are you friends with her? How is she friends with you? Why would she be friends with you?" Scott raised his eyebrow. "No offense buddy....but how!?" Scott rolled his eyes and continued into the school, ignoring Stiles and his ramblings.
"You know what? She might've actually considered going out with me if you weren't Draggin' me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association. I've been scarlet - nerded by you."
. . . . .
AURORA'S POV
. . . . .
"Hey, can I sit here?" I asked a brunette girl sitting on the bench.
"Yeah, sure!" She said eagerly and moved on. I plopped down and she spoke again. "I'm Allison by the way."
"Aurora, but you can call me Rori if you'd like, I don't mind."
"Wow! Thats a lovely name!" She said wide-eyed and I laughed.
"Thanks, my mum was a big fan of fairytales." She nodded. "So, I'm guessing you're new here too?" I asked.
"Yeah, just moved from San Francisco. What about you? Are you new too?" I nodded.
"Yup, I used to live here until two years ago. I was homeschooled, but then my mother died so I moved over to Australia with my uncle. I just got back yesterday." She looked at me with sad eyes.
"I'm so sorry about your mum." I smiled at her.
"Don't worry about it. I moved to Australia to kind of get myself together for a bit, so I'm ok now. Instead of regretting the time I didn't have with her, I'm just thankful of the time I did have with her." She smiled.
"That's a nice way of thinking of it." She said thoughtfully and I nodded.
"Well, I'm glad I'm not the only new girl." I told her with a grin and she laughed.
"Yeah same! I'm really glad I have a friend." She said before her eyes widened slightly. "If you don't mid being my friend. Sorry, I just assumed..."
"No, it's fine. We're friends!" I laughed and she visibly relaxed. "My best friend does go here, but I don't want to affect her 'image' because I'm a 'geek'." Making quotation mark signals with my fingers when I said 'image' and 'geek.' Causing Allison to laugh.
"Well you look like a geek to me." She chuckled looking down at my shirt and I gasped dramatically.
"First of all, how dare you. She set this out for me!" I waved a finger in her face and after a few seconds I looked down at the Star Wars shirt. "I love this shirt." I whispered then pouted at the material causing Allison to laugh harder, me joining in. Minutes later, Allison's phone started to ring, she apologised before picking it up.
"Mom, three calls on my first day is a little overdoing it." She said and I laughed causing her so smile at me.
"Have you made any friends?" I heard her say over the phone.
"Yeah, her name's Aurora, she's new too.
"Good. Do have you have everything."
"Yes." Allison said exasperated.
"Just check again, please."
Allison rolled her eyes before pulling up her bag and rummaging thought it
"Everything except a pen. Oh, my God, I didn't actually forget a pen." She looked at me desperately and I cringe and mouth 'Sorry, I only have the one.' She nodded.
"Okay, okay. I gotta go. Love ya."
"Sorry, I only have one pen." I said and she shook her head.
"Don't worry about it, I'll just ask someone in the class." I nodded and a man made his way over to us.
"Sorry to keep you waiting ladies."
"Don't worry about it." I replied.
"Ms. Carter, homeschooled in Beacon Hills. How doe it feel to be back."
"It's nice. Especially nice to being going to an actual school, and one with my best friend." He nodded and turned to Allison as we walked though the doors.
"So you were saying San Francisco isn't where you grew up?"
"No, but we lived there for more than a year, which is unusual in my family."
"Well, hopefully Beacon Hills will be your last stop for a while. Luckily you're both in the same class." He said and handed us out timetable as we neared a door. He opened it and stepped in with Allison and I behind him.
"Class, these are our new students, Allison Argent." He pointed at Allison who smiled awkwardly. He then pointed to me, "and Aurora Carter. Please do your best to make them feel welcome." He then stepped out of the room and Allison and I made our way to our seats. She sat behind Scott and I sat in front of Stiles. I leant my head back onto his desk and grinned at him.
"Hello again."
"H-hi." He mumbled. I sent him another smiled and sat straight again, pulling my books out of my bag. I looked over at Allison who was accepting a pen from Scott whilst looking confused, she smiled anyway and took it. I caught her eye and winked at her, making her blush.
. . .
I leant against my locked, which was besides Allison's because we were both new when Lydia trotted up to us. She pulled me into a hug.
"How was your first day." She asked me and I laughed.
"God Lydie, your like an overprotective mother. But yeah, it was good. I made a new friend." I then gestured to Allison.
"Lydia, this is Allison. Allison, this is Lydia." Lydia looked her up at down before saying,
"That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?" Allison looked stunned for a moment before looking over at me. I just shrugged and she turned back to Lydia.
"My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco."
"And you are my new best friend." I looked at Lydia, mouth open and hand pressed to my heart on mock offense.
"How could you do that to me? Does out friendship really mean that little to you?" She rolled her eyes nudged me.
"Be quiet." I laughed before Jackson slid over to us.
"Hey Jackson." Lydia smiled as they started making out, causing me to roll my eyes. Once they were done Lydia turned back to us.
"So, this weekend, there's a party."
"A party?" Allison asked.
"Yeah - Friday night. You should come." Jackson told her. I zoned out and let me eyes wander around the room before they fell on Scott and Stiles who were both looking over this way. Scott staring at Allison and Stiles and me. I caught Stiles' eye and he blushed before looking down at his feet shuffling them slightly. I smiled softly before I felt a hand tug on my arm. I stumbled slightly before getting pulled along with Allison.
. . .
I dropped my bag down and sat on the bleachers with Allison and Lydia, behind Stiles as Scott jogged onto the field.
"Let's go! Come on!" The coach called and everyone took their place.
"Who is that?" Allison asked bot Lydia and I.
"Him? I'm not sure who he is. Why?" She replied
"He's in my English class."
"His names Scott." I told her and she nodded her head thoughtfully. I then watched with wide eyes as he got smacked in the face with the ball. He fell back into the next before getting up again, preparing for then next shot. Which to his and everyone else's apparent surprise, he caught. I grinned and clapped making everyone look at me. The ball was passed to the next boy in the line who ran up at threw it at Scott, who caught it again which made Stiles let out a happy yelp which I could hear from where I was sitting.
"He seems like he's pretty good." Allison said after Scott was catching ball after ball thrown at him.
"Oh, very good." Lydia agreed.
Jackson hit the next boy in line with his lacrosse before sprinting at Scott and I watched in concern as he jumped in the hair, flinging the ball at Scott who caught it. Lydia and I jumped in the air, cheering, along with many other people including Stiles.
I stepped down the bleachers and walked to Scott and Stiles.
"Well done, Scott!" I said with a grin. "That was really impressive, especially with the bite and the asthma."
"Umm, thanks." He mumbled.
"I needed to talk to you about the um...the you know...." I said glancing at Stiles while Scott looked at me confused.
"No...what?"
"The thing...we found...in the woods..." I looked at him pointedly and he looked at me in realisation.
"Oh! The body?" My eyes widened and glanced at Stiles. Scott obviously caught on what I was concerned about. "Oh, he knows already." I relaxed and nodded. "What about it?"
"Well, what are we going to do about it?"
"Scott and I were going to go to the forest and see if we could find it again if you wanted to come?" Stiles asked, looking like he already regretted asking and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"You two...want me to come out into the woods...to find a dead body?" Stiles cringed and nodded, placing his hands on his hips.
"You know what? Forgot I said that, actually, forget I said anyth-"
"Ok. I'm down with that." I grinned and they looked at me surprised. "As long as one of you give me a lift."
"I'll do it!" Stiles threw up a hand immediately.
"Ok, thank you." I smiled and he blushed. "I'll go tell Lydia." I said and jogged over to her.
"You don't have to worry about taking me home, I going over to a friends house."
"Already? Not that I'm complaining, it's about time you got a social life." I rolled my eyes.
"Ok, well I'm gonna leave now." I said and walked started walking backwards.
"Go my little social butterfly," She ushered me away. I then walked up behind Stiles and tapped his shoulder. He swung around, brandishing his arms at me. My eyes widened and I bent back. He then noticed me and started to apologize.
"Oh god! I'm so sorry!" He then looked down at me. "Woah! that was like...Matrix!" I laughed.
"Well, kinda. I wasn't dodging bullets, just your fists." I replied with a grin as we got to his pale blue jeep. He laughed loudly before we got into the car. He started it up and pulled out of the car park.
"Why did you move here? If you don't mind me asking." He glanced over at me and I breathed in deeply.
"Well, My uh- my mum died."
"Oh god. I'm sorry, that was stupid of me to ask."
"No, it's ok. She used to homeschool me here. After she died, I moved to Australia to live with my uncle. Then I moved back here."
"Why didn't you stay with your dad?" He asked softly.
"He's dead too. Died when I was little. I can barely remember him."
"Oh jeez. I just keep asking stupid questions, I'm so sorry." I chuckled lightly.
"Don't worry about it."
"So...you like Star Wars?" I laughed and nodded.
"Hell yeah!"
"Really!?" He asked excitedly.
"Yeah, why else would I wear the shirt!"
"Oh my god, marry me." I laughed and we continued talking. I felt a weird connection to him. Like every word he said just made me feel closer to it. It felt like a string tugging me towards him. I was pulled out of my reverie by his voice.
"Ok, we're here." He quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and sprung out of his seat. He rushed over to my side of the door before I could even finish take my seatbelt of. He flung the door open and offered me his hand.
"My lady." He bowed and I took his hand.
"Thank you, good sir." I hopped off the jeep and we met up with Scott.
