Chapter 2 A Moonlit stroll and a promise
It felt wonderful to get away from the party too much big money for my taste. The wealthy were a shallow lot but Warren seemed to be different he was open and warm. My thoughts were interrupted by Warrens kind tone as he said, "Are you alright you seem out of it?" I nodded my head and said, "I was just thinking about how being rich can twist your perspective and make you believe your above the law. It also hurts when your parents push you to the back in favor of another child simply because they are male" Warren sighed beside me and said, "I know how it feels to have a parent who treats you like a second class citizen so I can sympathize with you. I also agree that being rich can come with a serious lack of conscious. That's why I donate most of mine" A lightbulb dinged over my head and it clicked that he was one of the two top donates right behind Harry Osborn.
We stooped under a tree and took a seat as the moonlight washed over us my tone was soft as I said, "Where did you attend school?" He smiled and said, "Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters and in my free time I teach there." That was surprising I didn't picture him as a teacher you learn new things everyday I suppose. He looked handsome under the full moon, his blue eyes sparked with intelligence and kindness. His pale skink reflected the moonlight brilliantly and his smile was genuine. His hair was short and curly and the color of cornfields. He was wearing a gorgeous pale blue suite with a black tie and even though he was fully covered I could see his powerful muscles. He finally turned to me and said, "This has been a beautiful evening and I believe I have enjoyed our walk more than any thing else and I was wondering if you would like to meet for lunch or dinner sometime." Wait was this really happening? Warren Worthington just asked me to dinner, I straightened my dress and said, "That would be lovely call whenever you want, we should probably get back my father will be wondering where I am." He stood up and offered me a hand and I gladly took it. I also took note of the size difference, his hand was huge and rough compared to my small and dainty ones but it felt like the right fit. We walked back and chatted about life and things we had in common and all of a sudden I was having the best time of my life and it was all because of this man next to me.
We arrived back at the ball and my father and brother were already waiting for me with disappointed looks on their faces. I turned to Warren and tried to give him a hug but he held my arms at my side and whispered, "Im not one for hugs." He leaned down and kissed my cheek instead and walked to his own limo before turning and giving me one last wink. He then steeped into his limo and drove off. I sighed and then turned back to my family and my older brother Christopher was the first to speak and said, "Look at you drooling over that bleeding heart Worthington. You disgrace our family" I simply rolled my eyes at him and got in the limo and rested my head on my palm. We pulled out of the parking lot and my brothers and fathers insults were rolling off me in waves it was a pretty boring ride home until my eyes fell on the sky and I couldn't believe my eyes. A angel just flew by, what on earth? Well this would be a interesting thing to investigate I wonder if Warren would be down for some investigation?.
