Three Months Later

"That's cheating! You cheated!" Maya yelled, pulling the cake that Minho had taken back to the middle of the table.

"Did not!" He argued, pretending to be offended. "It's rock, paper and scissors. How could I possibly cheat?"

"You hesitated to see what I was going to do before you played."

"Not I didn't! Besides, you don't even like chocolate cake, why are you making a fuss out of it? The deal was to play and whoever wins, gets the cake."

"You forgot the bit where the loser pays for it."

"I won fair and square. I'm not paying for some stupid cake!"

"Thing is, you get paid big time for what you do. Do you know how little I get paid? I have barely enough to pay for the least expensive item on this menu."

"Well, too bad for you."

He pulled the cake back to his side of the table and instantly began to eat it.

Maya huffed.

"Unfair," she mumbled.

Just then, Minho's phone rang. He sighed before picking it up. Maya took the chance to pull the cake over to her side of the table and cheekily gobble down a quarter of it.

He glared at her before he actually began responding to the person on the other end.

She watched as his face slowly began to brighten up throughout the call.

"What is it?" Maya asked after he hung up, stuffing another forkful of cake into her mouth.

Minho grunted a few curses under his breath at her before yanking the cake back to his side.

"Liv's out of hospital... You got to see her yesterday, right?"

"Oh yeah. It was short but the nurses said they would dismiss her soon. Where is she?"

"They are taking her to the police station for the case."

"And why are you so happy? Hyunjin's still going to be arrested."

"Seungmin and Felix will probably be free. And I can finally stop listening to you go on and on about how much you miss Seungmin."

"I mean, technically, he's still dating Tzuyu so it's not all good news."

"Oh her? He doesn't even fancy her. Let him deal with her himself. And now you're friends with a Senior Detective and no longer have to cover Hyunjin, if she ever touches you again, I'll sort her out."

Ever since Seungmin, Felix and Hyunjin were imprisoned, Minho made sure to visit her as often as he could, still feeling guilty. Unsurprisingly, they eventually became friends.

"Anyways, when do we get the news of them being dismissed?" She asked.

"Soon, I bet. Let me just finish this cake and we'll be on our way to the police station."

Maya waited in the canteen for about an hour before Minho finally returned with Liv. She spent most of the past few months there, usually doing homework or talking to detectives off their shifts while she was waiting for Minho.

She even somehow managed to get to know Woojin better and made a deal that if Seungmin comes out not guilty, he'll consider renewing his detective contract.

She was eating a vanilla cake with a small fudge milkshake when Minho and Liv joined her. She grinned widely and offered the thin, pale girl the remainder of her cake, which, Liv being Liv, obviously accepted.

"So? What the news?" Maya asked.

Minho raised an eyebrow at Maya as he crossed his arms over this chest with a smirk.

"What did you say to Woojin?"

"Huh?"

"He asked Seungmin if he wanted his job back and I instantly trailed it back to you. What did you say or do to change that still minded detective's mindset?"

"Well, I'd like to consider myself pretty persuasive."

"I knew you had something to do isn't it." Minho shook his head in pretend disbelief.

"So? Are Felix and Seungmin out? Did you confess Hyunjin did it?" Maya questioned.

"Yep," Liv responded with a mouthful of cake. It would take half a year of a diet full of cake for her to get back to her original weight. "And they said since Hyunjin was very willing in the last few months, they changed his sentence to four years imprisonment, three years community service."

Minho turned to Maya.

"Once again, you were involved in this, weren't you?"

All Maya did was grin before Seungmin and Felix joined them. They too were pale and thinner than usual but looked in much better state than Liv.

Seungmin sat beside Maya and instantly pulled her into a hug.

"I missed you," she said as she pulled away.

"Did you?" He smirked. "I missed you too. And thanks for talking to Woojin about renewing my contract."

"You accept it?"

"Of course I did! I love my job... Most of the time. I even chose to work locally so I can spend more time with you."

Maya grinned.

"Aw, that's cute... But you still have Tzuyu to figure out."

He groaned.

"Right... Forgot about her."

"World's best boyfriend, everyone."

"I'll just tell her to back off and then dump her."

"Seems fair. She's been all over this new kid Changbin recently."

"Well, that makes it easier, now doesn't it... Maybe after I break up with her and all, we could possibly go out on a date... I mean, if you want."

"Sounds intriguing... But why don't we talk about it when you're actually single, huh?" With that, she kissed his cheek before turning back to the rest of the crowd and sipping her milkshake.

Seungmin flushed bright red before grinning to himself, secretly thinking of the perfect first date with her.

I sincerely apologise for the messy state of this story. I tried to patch it up at the end but I think it was already too far gone to fix. Maybe after Woojin's fanfic, I'll post another Seungmin one to make up for this one.
