* * * In Aishah's Hospital Room * * *

"So, I see you two went on that walk after all. It took me a while to find you." Joan said quietly, as to not wake Aishah.

Angel laughed slightly, moving so he could hold his Mom's hand. "Yeah, we did."

"Did you and Jace," She gestured to where Jace was spread out on a chair, "talk much?"

"Kinda, we played 20 Questions, ya know, the game where you ask each other questions...actually that's a terrible description, ignore it." He smiled chuckling a little bit.

"Well, either way, I know what you're talking about. Did any of his answers stick with you?" She asked, "Anything specific that you would want to talk with him more about?"

"Well, he seemed really interested in Latin for some reason, like he wanted to know absolutely everything." He paused for a moment, "He seemed genuinely interested, but I don't really know... I guess I just don't want him to run away like Simon did."

Joan looked angry, sad, and protective all at once. "If he's anything like Simon he won't get the chance to run away. He wouldn't get the chance to get close enough to run away." The threat was evident in her voice, "Besides, anyone who decides to leave you because of your past deserves to die alone. It isn't your fault what happened to you, it's the people who did it who are to blame."

Angel shifted uncomfortably, he didn't like talking about what happened to him. "Yeah, not everyone is Simon," Angel agreed, quietly. "Besides, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to get that close anyway."

Joan and Angel continued their conversation for a while, but behind them, Jace had woken up and heard what Angel had said. It broke his heart, but at the same time, he was curious as to who this 'Simon' was, and what he had done to Angel. Just the thought of something happening to that sweet boy made his blood boil. He decided to stop thinking about it, it would be better for him to keep a cool head, if not for him. For Angel. The only Angel he cared about.
