[I give up]
POV STAR
I woke up unrested. I had a bad dream but I couldn't remember of what. Must have been something really bad. I get up and stretch, slipping on a robe so no one would notice I slept in my clothes and leave my room. Slipping down the stairs I enter the kitchen silently.
"Oh hello Star!" My mom pipes, washing her hands in the sink. I go into the fridge and pretend I don't hear her. Should I play this off cool or maturely?
I hear her clear her throat and I twitch. "Hello, Star!"
I turn around and smile. "Hello, Mother."
She is startled, but in a good way. "Why aren't you polite this morning!"
"Tota- I mean of course I am. I am an angel after all and we are... The role models of the multiverse."
"Oh my." She smiles as she turns off the sink. "Hasn't someone grown up overnight."
I pull my shoulders back and put on a mature smile. "Yes and I uh... I have been thinking about what you said about other places being diseases!"
"Really?"
I pull my lips between my teeth and force myself to nod. "Mhm."
"And what about it?"
"Well uh... About how you are right?" I try to hide the inflection in my voice.
"Why... Seriously?" She says, breaking her perfect dialogue a bit.
"Crap she's onto me!" I think, then say, "Like- I mean- what if Marco had stayed with us, couldn't he have infected us? Poisoning our angel blood and all and stuff."
Okay talking like you are having tea with a freaking God of God's is impossible to keep up.
"Yes I guess." She smiles and walks over to me, "I'm glad you see it may way." I nod as she begins to walk by.
"Uh wait!" I call.
She turns around on the white tile floor. "Yes?"
"What are you doing for a cure?" I say.
She stops. "How about I show you?"
"YAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!" I think with a smile. "HALLELUJAH PRAISE THE ANGELS MY PLAN WOOOOORKED!!! I AM THE GOD OF DISTRUCTION!"
"That sounds lovely." I say with a smile.
"Good." And she leads me through the house into her... private study.
"Oh right." I think as she closes the door behind me. "She has a private study!"
"Okay then." She smiles and I fallow her deeper inside.
To be honest my mom's "study" was more like a library. It had a main floor with golden tiles lining the floor and book shelves and desks neatly rowed up. The top was a glass dome and the whole room was circular. There was another loft made out of a light birch wood that had maps and charts pinned to the wall and a few tight, spiral staircase leading up there.
"Here we are." She pulls me into one of the isles into a back room at the end. In there was a door that said "NO ADMITTANCE"
I am seriously bad at finding things. I honestly have no idea where my iPod went and I lost it like 6 months ago.
"What now?" I ask.
My mom pulls a key out of her mountain of hair and unlocks the door carefully. Beyond it is a short hallway that sends a shiver up my spine. We follow it until another door appears. She opens that with a different key and a small, dark room is there.
"Hello?" My mom calls as she turns on the light in the room. I look around, wanting to grab her hand by knowing I shouldn't. The room was lined with cabinets and viles and needles and syringes and other stuff that creeps me out so much. Everything was fresh and worst of all some of the cabinets and the floor had claw marks in it. There was a chair with ristorante in the corner, all of which had been snapped and scratched to death.
"Mom?" My voice timid, all confidence gone. "What is this place?"
"You asked about the cure." She smiled. "This is where we try to find it."
"T-Try?" I say so that she can hear br she doesn't answer.
Instead an angel with snicker hair and a lizard tail slides in. "Hello ma'am." He smiles. "And little ma'am."
"Hi." I wave shyly.
"Toffee what is all of this!" My mom snaps outraged.
"Sorry but the subject took a turn for the worse. I'm afraid that project golden blood was a bust."
"It couldn't have been that bad!" My mom stomps forward.
"But it was ma'am. The subject has compete lost control! He's gone mad, even heavy drugs and chloroform isn't enough."
"Well let's see him!" My mom grabs my hand.
"W-Wait what?" I say, shaking. "Who even is this!? What's golden blood!?"
"You wanted to see the cure we've been working on." My mom began to drag me along before I snatched my hand away.
"WHAT CURE!?" I scream enraged. "YOU HAVENT FOUND A CURE YET! AND YOU NEVER WILL BECAUSE THERE IS NO DISEASE!!"
"I thought you admitted-" my mom smirked
"I JUST DID THAT TO SEE IF MARCO WAS RIGHT ABOUT YOU!" I scream tears in my eyes. "AND HE WAS! HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! YOU TOOK HIM I KNOW IT! WHERE IS HE GOD DAMN IT, WHERE IS HE!?"
My mom smirks. "You think this news to me?"
"Huh?"
"I brought you down here so you could see it all for yourself. So you could see it and get over that pathetic, useless demon. He only came up here to help you, but since that was a bust he is helping me."
"W-What...?" I feel my whole body jump with a shiver. I run past my mom and Toffee into the room he came out of and smash through the door. I stumble backward and let's my vision settle into a dark room. Slowly, I place both my hands on the glass and stare, feeling my mom and Toffee staring at me.
Suddenly something big and ravenous smashes into the glass in front of me and I scream and fall into my mom, her skinny hands wrapping around my shoulders.
"I thought he'd be calmer in the dark." Toffee turns on the lights and i stare as they flicker on.
My eye burn as I slowly and carefully walk back over to the glass
