Chapter 14
Idk if the song really fits, but that's what I'm listening to right now
It's been a week, a week since Nico was submitted to the hospital. I haven't moved from his side, taking my meals in his room, and declaring myself his personal doctor, with my dad's supervision of course. I sighed, head drooping on the pillow, my nose brushing Nico's soft hair. I was lying on the gurney on my side, curled against Nico, fitting his slim body to me, keeping him against me.
I pressed my nose to him, breathing unsteadily, as another tear fell down my face, and landed on Nico. The heart monitor beeped faster, and I whirled to look, just as the beats returned to normal. I turned back to the pale black haired boy, who was hooked up to that machine, and the only reason I knew I didn't imagine it, was because the proof was recorded on the machine behind me. I pressed my lips to Nico's cold forehead-wait, cold?
I pulled away, pressing my hand to his head, a grin spreading across my face. His temperature was back to his normal cold, unlike the dead freezing temperature it was earlier!
"Nico?" I asked cautiously, nervous.
The heart monitor jumped in response, the hand that I had grasped twitching, and gripping my hand weakly. I reached behind me for the call button, hand shaking with excitement.
"Dr. Apollo to room 501, Nico's waking up!"
My dad rushed in, followed by two nurses, and I got off the bed, letting them do their thing, my hands shaking to much to be of help.
"Brain waves are massive Doc, more than before," A chirpy, and gorgeous nurse names Piper said.
She turned and winked at me, and I smiled back. Piper and I were close, because Nico's cousin Jason was dating her. I'd known her for years. Being a nurse was her 'day' job, she was really a fashion designer, but she worked under the pen name Beauty Queen, given to her by her and Jason's best friend, Leo.
"Hey Pipes?" I asked, and turned her head towards me, but didn't look away from the heart monitor data. "When you're done here, and if Nico actually wakes up, tell everyone, OK?"
By everyone, she knew I meant our group of friends, and family. She nodded, and continued marking down data, when suddenly the machine went crazy, Nico's heart rate picking up.
"Wha-?" Piper started, as dad ran to Nico, who'd begun to stir.
"Will," My dad motions for me to come over, as he stepped away from the bed. "He's going to want to see you first."
I gulped, walking over, as everyone left the room. Piper winked at me, making a kissy face, before bounding out of the room, knowing I was to preoccupied to come after her. I sat on the edge of the bed, unsure what to do. I haven't sat next to a waking coma patient that I've known! Sure, plenty have woken up when I'm there, but not someone I love!
Nico's long curled black lashes fluttered, before he slowly opened his eyes, blinking against the fluorescent light. My dad, who was still in the doorway to make sure he woke up OK, turned out the lights and left, but not before also winking at me, the gesture meaning the same as Piper's.
Warning, make out scene. . . and Idk how to write this, so sorry if it's awkward! I flushed, but quickly turned back to Nico. Nico was looking at me, and the heart monitor skipped a beat, making me glance nervously at it, as Nico flushed.
"Hi Sunshine." Nico whispered, his voice deeper and more gravely than usual, sounding slightly dry from lack of use, but, hell. It sounded soo good.
I just needed to kiss him. So I did. Leaning forwards, I was going to connect our lips, but changed my mind, and pressed kisses starting at the back of his jaw. He let out a shaky gasp, eyes wide, heart monitor going crazy.
With an annoyed growl, I pulled away from Nico's neck, getting up to turning the machine off, before running and locking the door. Good thing the wall's are soundproof, so that screams won't bother other patients. Nico watched me hungrily, as I walked back to him, climbing onto the bed, using the button to lower the gurney until we were lying flat, with me hovering over him. I sat up, straddling Nico's waist, looking at the IV still dripping into his bloodstream.
I frowned, pressing the call button, that only works if someone in here calls them, and then they can respond, but they can't call us, unless in a real emergency.
"Um, can you put Dr. Apollo on the line?"
There was ruffling, before Kayla responded, "Sure! Just hold on."
I waited, keeping my finger on the button, trying to ignore the pants escaping Nico's mouth, as he sat up as far as he could, with his stomach still being bandaged, and whining in my ear at my lack of attention towards him, nipping my neck slightly. I had to bite my lip, shifting on my hands and knees trying to prevent myself from making noise. Nico smirked against my neck, an arm wrapping over my shoulder to grip a fistful of my shirt on my back, the other hand, the one with the IV tube, holding my shoulder, as he used me as a way to stay up, wings useless under him.
"Will?" I heard my father say, and I let out a shaky breath.
"Can I take Nico's IV out? Does he still need it?" I managed to say without groaning, as Nico began to nibble my sweet spot.
"You can remove it. And Will? Just be careful."
I heard Piper laughing in the background, as I yanked my hand away from the speaker like it was on fire, my face turning red, because my father didn't just mean with taking out the IV. He meant what was going on between Nico and I.
Nico chuckled, his breath warm as it curled over my bare shoulder. Nico had managed to push down my collar, putting pressure on one side of my neck, but leaving most of my other shoulder, including where my sweet spot is, free of fabric.
Going back to my original position of straddling Nico, I gently take his left hand in mine. I slid the needle out from the back of his hand, pressing the gauze on the wound, and grabbing the skin tape, gently yet firmly wrapping the tape around Nico's hand, in between his thumb and pointer finger, across his palm and back to the gauze on the top of his hand, wrapping twice, before I ripped the tape, making sure it wasn't uncomfortable for him.
He pressed his palm to my cheek, the tape scratching slightly, pulling my face down to him.
"Will," Nico started, but I silenced him with a kiss.
His lips moved with mine, pressing his other hand against my chest, over my heart, feeling how fast it was beating. The blood was rushing in my ears, as I forgot everything that was going on. Forgot that we're in a hospital, forgot that Nico was injured. He pulled away for air, and I shifted until I was leaning over him in the push up position, my knees resting near Nico's.
I pressed my lips to Nico's jaw, nipping gently as I moved down, careful not to make marks. I got to the collar of cloth covering Nico, smirking as I remembered he was only wearing a thin hospital gown, and his boxers, that I'd left on him when I changed him, careful to not look at his tattoo, because I knew I'd feel like I'd betrayed him if I looked before he allowed me too. Nico must have realized it to, because he shifted under me, flushing beautifully. I pressed a kiss to the spot where his neck and shoulder met, eliciting a string of muffled moans from his mouth, as he bit his lip trying to hide them. I smirked against his neck, rolling the skin gently in between my teeth, knowing just the right pressure so no mark would be made. Being a doctor had it's perks, especially with the human anatomy. Nico's thin fingers twirled into my blonde curls, as he arched against me in pleasure, gasping. He yelped as he quickly fell to the bed, and arm around his stomach. He scowled, glaring at nothing.
"Dammit." He murmured. I chuckled, but glanced at him nervously.
"Are you OK Love?" He nodded, but had a pained expression.
I got off of him, and he whined, trying to grab at me, but I sat on the edge of the bed, one leg dangling off, as I turned to Nico. "I need to take off the gown Neeks." He scowled at yet another nickname, flushing as he registered what I meant. He shook his head. "No you don't, I'm fine." He said quickly, and I just gave him a look. He knows lying doesn't work with me. "Fine." He grumbled, crossing his arms in annoyance, pushing his bottom lip out in a pout. He shifted, and I pressed the button that made the gurney rise, until he was sitting up. I just smiled, reaching my arms around him, tugging the string near his neck. The gown fluttered as it slid off his arms. He crossed his arms glaring at me.
"That's all I'm taking off." I smirked at him, arching an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah? I bet I can change your mind."
Nico flushed, turning his head away. I scooted closer, tugging his arms away from his chest, his wrists also bandaged and lathered with Aloe Vera, to hopefully dull the scars on his wrists. I brought his arms down until I could see the bandages wrapped around his petite frame, starting from just under the nipple line, to halfway down his abs.
I skimmed my hands down his sides, and he shivered, but I was to focused on my work to take advantage of his reaction. My father had just changed the bandages when they'd come in last, and I didn't see any spreading blood stains, they were still all white, so I knew none of the stitches had reopened.
"Will," Nico whined impatiently, just wanting to go back to what they were doing before.
"Nico." I replied, my voice indifferent, smirking as Nico squirmed under my hands. I couldn't hold back the temptation any longer, and leaning forwards, connected our lips in a rushed and fast paced kiss. Nico's hands embedded themselves in my hair, my own on his waist. We were sitting 'spider', with me in between his legs, my knees bent over his legs, behind his waist. I pulled away from his mouth, lowering my head to his neck, placing open mouthed kisses down his collarbone, my hands all over his body, his back, his chest, everywhere. Nico moaned under me, tugging my head closer to his chest, as I began making a mark next to his nipple, aware of Nico's rule about no marks where they'd be visible with a loose collared shirt. Literally making this stuff up as I go, I've never had any type of interaction like this, so I'm sorry of it's far from right, and really awkward Nico squirmed under me, as my hands gripped his thigh, and he tried not to jump.
My free hand reached and made the gurney lie once again flat, and I hovered over Nico. I looked up from where I was nibbling on Nico's nipple, and couldn't contain my gasp as I saw the look on Nico's face. His eyes were half-lidded and his pupils were blown out in lust, his eyes even darker than usual. His mouth was partly open, allowing shaking breaths to be pulled into his lungs, his head tilted on it's side. His eyes fluttered shut as I smirked against his skin. I scooted back up, until I could press my lips to his. Nico responded hungrily, annoyed that he couldn't flip us, and take control because it would hurt.
"Will," He murmured against my lips, and I pressed closer to him, moving my lips to his neck again. More, more more. I needed more.
"Will!" Nico said again, head thrown back, hair sticking to his forehead with sweat, eyes closed.
"Nico," I murmured, arms under his body, yet still supporting myself on my elbows. Nico's hand disappeared into my hair, tugging my head away gently. I whined, pupils expanded in lust, not finished. Nico was panting, heavy breaths leaving his mouth, lips red and swollen. Mine were probably the same. I pressed a gentle kiss to those rosy and full lips, pulling away slowly, and resting my forehead against his.
"Can I, see your tattoo now?" I panted, and got off of Nico, helping him to carefully flip onto his stomach, in a flourish of black and white.
"Whoa," I breathed, tracing my finger on the outlines of the two dragons that made up the ying and the yang. Picture below
"What's it mean? To you?"
Nico took a deep breath, arms crossed under his cheek, eyes closed, lost in the pleasure of my hands on his back, as I straddled him to get a better look at the black and white ink.
"It represents the fears in my life, and the light that helped me conquer them. After we got together, it took an a new meaning, meaning more to me, that you were part of the light that keeps me going. The dragon is a symbol of strength, so I chose it to represent the strength I've needed and used to overcome and defeat the hardships in my life."
I flipped Nico back over, and pressed my lips to his in a bruising kiss.
"I'll help you defeat anymore you have. I'll always be there."
We looked at each other, our breathing labored, hearts pounding, lust settling down for now, replaced by love.
"I love you." We said at the same time, before bursting into giggles.
I pulled away, shifting so I was laying beside him, instead of hovering over him. He stayed on his back, and I wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling him closer, careful of his bandage.
"Will? How long was I out?"
I took a deep breath, trying not to cry again. He's away, it's OK, he's going to be OK.
"About a week."
"A week!" He shrieked, eyes wide.
"Nico, relax, it's OK."
He rapidly shook his head, looking angry. "I missed Hazel's 3 year anniversary of her and Frank." His voice was annoyed, but also sad. Guilty.
I shook my head smiling gently, brushing the hair out of his face, and watched him tug at his bottom lip where his lip ring would normally be. I have it at home, because he can't have that. Stupid hospital rules, kissing is less experimental. The swelling of our lips having receded completely, making me disappointed. I wanted marks. Most inaccurate make out scene ever, sorry about that lol Nico saw where my gaze was, and laughed, running his hand through my blonde waves. I leaned into him, sighing happily, before pressing my lips to his again, gentle yet passionate, before shifting on my back, sliding an arm under his neck.
His head turned towards me, and I looked at him, as his eyes flutter shut, body relaxing as he fell asleep. I smiled, placing a kiss on his forehead, before I closed my eyes, and let my mind drift off to sleep.
Nico's tattoo is above, but his tattoo is much more detailed, with shading and shtuff
