One Of Us

-Chapter Twenty-One-

As you walked towards the training area, you knew that you were going to get some sort of lecture for being late for training; that being Chase giving you a lecture. The reason you were late was because you had lost track of time, it wasn't an excuse but you had your reasons. As you walked into the training area, seeing Adam, Bree, and Chase.

"You're late for training," Chase stated, as he crossed his arms.

"But I'm here now," you smiled.

"[Name], you can't be late. It's going to effect-"

You then cut Chase off, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. No need for a lecture. This is my first time being late, it's not a big deal."

"Chase, leave her alone and drop it. Anyway, have you seen Leo? He's not here either," Bree informed.

"No I thought he was with you guys," you replied, raising an eyebrow.

"Let's just go ask Douglas, maybe he knows," Bree shrugged, as you all walked into the Hydra-loop area.

"Douglas, have you seen Leo? He's late for training," Chase informed.

"Why don't you call him?" Douglas questioned.

"Too much work. Let's just kick him out of the academy," Adam commented.

Chase went over to the cyber desk, dialing Leo's number. A moment later, Leo flashed on the screen, greeting with a hello.

"Leo, what are you doing back in Mission Creek? You're suppose to be here for training," Chase informed.

"Sorry, I had to pop back and deal with a little situation. Janelle missed me. You ladies can be so needy," Leo rolled his eyes.

"She threatened to break up with you, didn't she?" Bree stated.

"It was implied," Leo replied, causing you to chuckle softly as you hear a door bell ring, "Aaah! She's here!" Leo exclaimed, as he ended the call.

"Can you believe him?" Chase asked in disbelief, "Skipping his training to hang out with a girl?"

"You might understand it better one day when you actually have one," Adam smiled, patting his back as you chuckled.

"For your information, later today I will be online gaming with FrizzyBizzy21," Chase informed, as you all just stared at him unconvinced, "And there's a fifty percent chance, that's a female!"

"Yeah. No, there's not," Bree shook her head.

"She's right. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a male," you smirked as Chase glared at you.

Then, the Hydra-loop doors opened to reveal a girl dressed in black. You recognized her instantly. Leo showed you what had happened when they went against Krane's army.

"Aaah! It's her!" Douglas exclaimed, as everyone stood in a fighting stance while Adam walked right up to S-1.

"Hey, you look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" Adam asked S-1.

"Adam, that's S-1. Krane's lead solider. She tried to destroy us," Chase explained.

"Oh, yeah. What do you say we finish the job and get out of here?" Adam asked S-1 smiling.

"Well, isn't this going to be interesting," you stated, as you leaned up against the wall.

As S-1 walked around Adam cautiously, everyone raised their arms in defense.

Everyone surrounded S-1, making sure that she wouldn't do anything as Chase spoke to her, "What are you doing here?"

"I figured since this is the Bionic Academy you're the only people who might be able to help. Something's wrong with me," S-1 explained.

"Yeah, we already know that, Psycho Sally," Bree stated, "You tried to crush Leo and take us all out."

"I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about," S-1 stated confusingly.

"Of course she doesn't. She's a blank state, just like the rest of the soldiers were," Douglas explained.

"Why weren't you rounded up with everyone else?" Chase questioned.

"All I know is that I woke up in a field and this family found me and took me in, and when they discovered that I was bionic, they freaked out, so I ran away. I've been hiding ever since," S-1 replied.

"I don't believe her," Bree stated.

"I do. I can read people and tell if they're good or not. It's like a sixth sense," you explained looking at S-1, "She's telling the truth."

It was true though. You had great sense of judgement and can tell the difference between good and evil. It's why you had an off feeling about the Incapacitator, and also because you worked with evil people for years.

"Why would she lie? Krane's no longer controlling her mind with the Triton app, so she has no reason to be evil," Douglas explained.

"Oh, yeah? That's what we thought about Sebastian, too. And we all know what happened there," Chase said, looking at everyone.

"We get it. He broke your heart. Let it go," Adam commented, causing your lips to twitch up slightly.

"Look, if you don't believe me, remove my chip. Then there's no way I can hurt you," S-1 said, pulling her ponytail to the side.

Douglas walked over from behind and removed her chip with the chip extractor.

"All clear," Douglas informed, "But you might want to get that mole checked out."

"Alright, now that we know you're telling the truth. What exactly is wrong with you," Chase questioned.

"I keep having flashbacks about a guy named, Victor Krane?" S-1 questioned herself, not knowing if that was the correct name.

"You're preaching to the choir, sister," Douglas commented.

"Wait. The Triton app deactivated, it should of erased all of her memory. How can she still remember Krane?" Chase asked.

"It must be a glitch," Douglas pointed out, "What else do you remember?"

"He said that if anything bad ever happened to him, something just as bad would happen to me," S-1 explained.

"I wouldn't worry about that. That was just the metal in his face talking," Douglas motioned to his face.

"Look, every time I get a flashback. I get a terrible headache. I'm really scared, and I don't have anyone else to turn to. Please, help me figure out what's going on," S-1 pleaded, desperation laced in her voice.

"What do we do?" Bree asked.

"I think we should help her," Chase stated.

"Okay, but when she crushes your heart like Sebastian, don't come crying to me," Adam stated, walking away.

~~~~~
You all then moved into the training area as S-1 sat in a chair. The rest of the students continued on their daily schedules, knowing that S-1 could be trusted. If you didn't know any better, you would've attacked her, for what she's done. You knew better, and knew that she wasn't in her right mind, she needed to do what needed to be done.
You and S-1 had a lot of things in common, more than what others realize.
"I wish we could see what her flashbacks were about, so it'll be able to help us figure out what's going on," Chase muttered.
"I can though, now step aside nerd," you stated, pushing him to the side as you walked over to S-1, "Never got to properly introduce myself, name's [Name]."
You shook her hand as she smiled, "Nice to meet you."
"To cut to the chase, I have a ability app called Memory absorption. It lets me see another person's past memories. Is it alright If I could look at them?" you asked.
She gave a nod as you bent down on your knees, beside the chair,"Lift up your sleeve please."
She nodded, doing as she was told as she lifted her sleeve up to her elbow. You placed your hand on her arm, seeing a white flash quickly pass through her arm.
"Close your eyes now, and try to remember," you instructed.
You both closed your eyes, as everything around you became distant as you focused on the flashbacks.
The flashbacks came in a blur, as you tried to focus on what happened before. Some of them were blurry, others were not. The voices sounded distant and muffled. They were broken up into pieces, making it different to understand.
Now you understood how S-1 felt. Once she was done, you let go and thanked her as you walked over to Chase and Douglas.
"Did you get any information?" Douglas asked.
"Well, I seen the flashbacks, some of them are blurry and others are not. They're broken up into pieces making it difficult to understand what's going on. I see why S-1 was having trouble, I can't even understand them myself," you explained, causing both boys to sigh.
"Looks like I'm going to have to put her through some tests," Chase mumbled as he typed away.
~~~~~

As Chase put S-1 through some tests, you casually talked to Bree and Adam, occasionally talking to S-1 too. Since S-1 memory has been wiped, you tried talking to her, trying to make her remember as Chase ran her though tests.

It was frustrating; S-1 was tired of the tests, Chase grew irritated as he typed away searching for any information, and you were irked that you couldn't see her memories. You tried more than once, looking through her mind, but it was the same outcome every time.

"Alright, almost done with the tests. How you holding up?" Chase asked S-1.

Before S-1 could answer, Adam spoke instead, "Eh, pretty good. Probably going to need a snack around two."

Then, a beeping noise went off causing you to look down at the cyber desk along with Chase.

"Douglas, check this out," Chase waved him over, as Douglas stood on your right, looking at the screen.

"Huh, looks like the Triton app left a virus hidden in her bionic infrastructure," Douglas pointed out.

"You mean like a virus where I have a bowl of chicken noddle soup and I'm all better?" S-1 question, with hope laced in her voice.

"More like a virus that'll cause you to explode and look like chicken soup," Chase explained.

"WHAT?!" S-1 exclaimed, as you then hit Chase's chest, glaring at him

"Uh, but...who knows? Chicken soup could work," Chase stated unsure, as he walked away.

"When I showed Krane the Triton app, he did ask me to build in a Doomsday virus. But I refused," Douglas smiled, quite proud of himself.

"Thank you, Douglas. That totally makes up for the other five-hundred times you tried to take us out," Bree nodded.

"Technically, it was five-hundred-twenty-two. You just didn't see me hidden in the shadows," Douglas chuckled as you rolled your eyes.

"Krane must have done it on his own. And if he did it to the Triton app, then that means..." Chase then scanned the students before continuing, "The other students have it too!"

"It all makes since," Douglas stated, "Krane was an egomaniac. If he wasn't around to control his own creations, he wanted to make sure no one else could."

"According to this, anyone who had the Triton app will self-destruct in ten hours. That means that everyone is-"

S-1 cut Chase off, "A ticking time bomb."

"ALL THE BIONIC STUDENTS ARE GONNA DIE?!" Bree exclaimed, as all the students stopped, staring at you all, "Probably shouldn't have said that so loudly."

"You think?" you asked sarcastically.

"Nice knowing all of you! You guys should say your goodbyes. I'm gonna go grab a tarp and a poncho," Adam stated, walking away as Bree stopped him from continuing to walk away.

"Oh, no. This may be worse than I thought," Chase spoke worriedly.

"You're right. I should probably grab goggles too," Adam said, walking away as Bree stopped him again.

"No, wait," Chase then scanned Adam and Bree, as you stood by Douglas, "Just as I thought. We also had the Triton app. So we're set to self-destruct, too."

'Ha! You don't have to do anything. Just let them die, and no one will know.'

 'Do not listen! Try and save them.'

You shook your head, getting rid of the voices as Douglas spoke, "Adam, I'll take a poncho."

Adam nodded as he ran out.

"Wait a minute," you held up a finger, "If you all had the Triton app, doesn't that mean I'm safe?"

"What do you mean? You're bionic," Bree pointed out.

"Yeah, but I've never met Krane, which means he doesn't know about me. I've never been under the influence of the Triton app, so doesn't that mean I'm safe?" you asked.

"She's right," Chase confirmed, "She's the only one bionic who would live. Krane doesn't even know she exists, which means that she's never been under the influence of the Triton app, she's safe."

"I'm gonna live!" you exclaimed, as the others just stared at you, "Uh, I...never mind."

~~~~~
After that, you all moved to the Hydra-loop area, as Douglas set the time on the screen; counting down till the others would self-destruct. You kept your clock locket in your pocket, occasionally checking the time if you were out of the Hydra-loop area.
"Okay, I scanned S-1's chip and mirrored the Doomsday virus timer," Douglas stated, "Only eight hours left till you guys...show the world what you're made of."
"Ooh! My head! it hurts!" S-1 exclaimed, as she held her head.
"I know, his jokes are awful," Chase stated as you hit his arm.
"No you idiot, she's having another flashback," you explained.
"I'm starting to see Krane again," S-1 hissed, "It's dark, he's angry-"
"Run towards the light! It's your only hope!" Douglas exclaimed, cutting her off.
"Is he saying anything about the Doomsday virus?" Chase asked S-1.
"No. Someone used the last of the battery acid and didn't replace it," S-1 explained.
"Well, it wasn't me," Douglas stated, as you rolled your eyes.
"There has to be another way to access the virus and disable it," Chase stated.
"Good luck with that. He burned it in so many layers of encryption it would take months to crack it," Douglas informed.
"Well, do you think he ever gave her the code?" Chase questioned.
"I know one way we can find out. When patients lose their memories, sometimes doctors try and recover them by reenacting scenes from their pasts. If we could do that with S-1, maybe we can trigger the memories we need," Douglas explained.
"Yes! That's brilliant!" Chase exclaimed.
"I know I said it!" Douglas exclaimed also.
"Let's get to work. Whatever is locked in that girl's head is the only thing that's gonna save us," Chase stated.
The Hydra-loop then opened, causing you to turn your head, seeing Leo's eyes land on S-1.
"You!" Leo exclaimed, looking at S-1.
"Who are you?" S-1 asked, standing in a defensive fighting stance.
"Maybe this will remind you!"
"Leo no!" you and Chase shouted in unison, as Leo shot her with his laser sphere, causing her to go unconscious.
"What do you mean no? I just saved your butts," Leo stated.
"No, you didn't! You just dug our graves," Chase stated, as you all checked S-1.
~~~~~

You sighed as you looked down at your clock locket, seeing that it's been an hour, and S-1 was still knocked out.

"C'mon, wake up, wake up!" Douglas stated worriedly,  as he fanned S-1.

"So I leave one afternoon and now everyone has hours to live?" Leo asked, "Why didn't you call me?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I've been a little busy trying to find ways not to blow up!" Chase exclaimed, as you squeezed his arm in a comforting manner, causing him to relax slightly.

You didn't know if Chase was making a pun or not as he said 'blow up'.  It was actually a very bad time to be thinking about it actually.

"I'm sorry, but that's just simply not good enough," Leo crossed his arms.

"She still out of it," Douglas referred to S-1, "Leo, how could you attack her?"

"Look, with everyone around here, flip-flopping between good and bad, it's hard to keep track," Leo replied.

You looked up at Leo for a moment, before turning your gaze back to S-1.

"I have to stop myself from taking you out five times a day," Leo explained to Douglas.

"Guys, focus. We have to find a way to revive S-1 before every bionic person here explodes!" Chase explained agitated, as his phone buzzed, "Not now, FrizzyBizzy, not now!"

Chase then walked over to S-1 as Leo pulled Douglas aside, "Just to be clear, since we didn't have the Triton app, we're good right?"

"You're not the only one, I'm safe," you stated, walking closer to the two.

"What do you mean?" Leo questioned.

"Krane's not my creator, which means I've never been under the influence of the Triton app. So that means I'm safe," you explained, as Douglas nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, in just a few hours, us three could literally be the last one standing. Probably best to keep that to ourselves," Douglas stated, as you all nodded, fist bumping one another.

Then, S-1 started to wake up as Chase spoke, "She's waking up!"

Leo screamed, shooting her once again, causing her to go unconscious.

"Leo!" you shouted.

"Did you say 'she's waking up?' or 'she has a knife?,' cause I'm just saying, those two sound very similar," Leo put his hands up in surrender, as you smacked the back of his head.

~~~~~
"She's awake."
Leo went to lung forward, but you and Douglas held him back.
"Don't even think about it," Douglas stated firmly.
S-1 then stood up as Leo spoke, "Sorry I took you out. Twice."
"Yeah, will, at least you didn't use your bionics full strength," S-1 stated.
"Yeah, that's right. I always dial it back for the ladies," Leo smiled nervously.
"No you don't," you muttered, only for him to hear.
"She doesn't need to know that," he mumbled back lowly.
"We think we found a way to stimulate your memories by acting out some scenes from your past with Krane," Chase explained, as he sat S-1 in a stool.
 "We were hoping that when he gave you the Doomsday virus, he told you how to deactivate it. So we're gonna reenact that moment," Douglas informed, "I'm gonna play Krane, and Chase will play you."
"Hold on. How come you get to play Krane?" Chase asked.
"Because I know him better than anybody," Douglas answered, "Plus, I do a spot-on impression. I used to kill at our dinner parties, and then he threatened to kill me."
"Well I'm definitely not gonna play S-1," Chase stated, as S-1 looked offended, "No offense."
"Why not?" Douglas questioned, "Too much of a stretch for you to reach that level of macho? No offense."
You smiled as you walked over to Chase and Leo.
"Guys, we don't have to argue," Leo stated, as he leaned into Chase, "But just for the record, I do think you'd make a great S-1. You want to borrow Bree's boots? You can stuff some paper in there so they fit."
"Yeah, I can also get Bree's leather jacket," you offered smirking, "You have that nice feminine build."
"CAN WE JUST DO THIS?!" Chase asked, very ticked off.
"You're on a operating table in Krane's lab," Douglas narrated as he clapped, "It's dark. You're terrified. The madman approaches," Douglas narrated as he turned around, before turning to face you all.
He held his hair back as you saw what you assumed was foil taped to his face. He chuckled evily as he waddled over towards Chase who was laying on the cyber desk.
"I'm Victor Krane, and I want to take over the world! I also told Douglas I'd take him on a vacation to Florida keys- never happened!" Douglas shouted, getting off script as you, S-1, Leo just stared unimpressed, "Now you," Douglas motioned to Chase.
Chase then sat up as he cleared his throat, "Ahem. Oh, no! Mr. Krane! Please don't give me, S-1, that bad, bad, virus!" Chase exclaimed in a high pitched voice, causing Douglas to shove him back down.
You rose your eyebrows as Leo spoke to S-1, "I don't suppose this is helping you remember anything?"
"No. But it is making me hope that when I do blow up, I take these two down with me," S-1 stated, referring to Douglas and Chase as you smiled, "That's actually not a bad idea."
Chase and Douglas then turned to look at you both, looking quite offended.
"No offense," S-1 stated, looking at the two as you and Leo chuckled.
~~~~~

You looked down, checking your clock locket once more. Now seeing that there was two minutes left, you could feel the tension rising in the room.

"Role playing didn't work, decrypting the virus didn't work. I'm out of options!" Chase exclaimed.

Then, Adam and Bree strode into the Hydra-loop area.

"Hey, guys. Any progress?" Adam questioned.

"Oh, great. More mess to clean up!" Douglas exclaimed,  motioning towards Adam and Bree.

"This is useless! There's no fix!" Chase sighed.

"What do you mean there's no fix?" Adam questioned, "I'm not having Krane's virus take me out. I'd rather have one of you guys do it."

"Oh, Adam, that's ridiculous," Douglas spoke.

"No. He's right," Chase stated.

"Okay, if you say so," Douglas said, pulling out a hammer from underneath the cyber desk, ready to strike as Chase stopped him.

"Give me that!" Chase snatched it out of his hand, "I know what to do. A virus needs a carrier, and without the carrier, the virus dies."

"So what are you saying?" S-1 questioned.

"We need to trick the virus into thinking we're dead," Chase explained as Adam gasped.

"Good idea. We'll be ghosts. Bree, go get the sheets. I'll cut out the eye holes," Adam stated.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" you asked Chase as he nodded.

"If we give ourselves our own Doomsday virus, it'll shut down our bionic infrastructure," Chase informed.

"Great plan, Chase, except that you forgot one thing: we'll be dead," Bree commented.

"Only temporarily. We can control our own virus. As long as Douglas starts uninstalling it right away after it takes effect, none of us will actually die," Chase explained.

"So our lives depend on this guy?" S-1 queationed, pointing to Douglas.

"Pretty much," you replied.

"And we're all okay with that?" she asked.

"The plans to risky. We're not doing it!" Douglas exclaimed.

"We have two minutes left! What else are we gonna do?" Chase asked Douglas.

"There has to be another way!" Douglas yelled.

"What other way is there!" you exclaimed, looking at Douglas.

He sighed as he snapped his fingers,"I have a firewall program on my old laptop. If the codes match, it could block the virus. I'll be right back," Douglas stated, as he ran out.

"We don't have time to wait. We have to install our own Doomsday virus," Chase stated, as you all looked at him as he turned to the students, "Attention, everyone! I'm about to wirelessly install a lethal virus into your chips. But I'm doing it to save you, and if for some reason it doesn't work, well, you can all forget about last night's homework."

"Chase, what are you doing?" Leo questioned, "Don't you need Douglas to bring everyone back?"

"No. We have you and [Name]," Chase hit Leo's shoulder.

"Who 'you'? Me 'you'," Leo asked.

"Yes, you. Look, Leo, don't worry. As soon as I send the virus to all our chips, I'll tell you exactly how to uninstall it," Chase explained.

"Fine," Leo murmured.

"Chase, we only have thirty seconds left hurry!" you urshed Chase.

Chase then ran over to the cyber desk and started to install the virus.

"Okay, the virus is installed. Leo, all you have to do is-"

Chase got cut off as he and the rest of the students fell on the floor, leaving you and Leo standing there stunned.

"No. No!" Leo repeated over and over as you looked around frantically.

'Their fate are in our hands now. Leave them to die.'

'Don't, don't let their fate end like this. Save them.'

You shook your head, getting rid of the voices s Douglas entered the Hydra-loop area.

"What did you two do?!" Douglas exclaimed.

"It wasn't me! It was Chase! I told him not to install the virus, but he did it anyway!" Leo explained.

"Don't you know that he's too stubborn!" you exclaimed, "He doesn't listen to anybody you're suppose to know that!"

Leo then ran over to Douglas, "He is trouble, that one- trouble!"

"Get out of the way!" Douglas yelled, as he ran to the cyber desk, "Krane's Doomsday virus deactivated. Now I'll just have to uninstall Chase's. C'mon, C'mon..."

Douglas then stopped, as you three looked around, seeing no one was waking up.

"Why isn't no one waking up?" Leo asked.

"I don't know," Douglas replied.

"What do you mean you don't know? They can't go much longer without oxygen!" Leo exclaimed, as Douglas shook Leo by the shoulders harshly.

"IT'S NOT MY VIRUS! I'M DOING MY BEST!" Douglas exclaimed.

"Great job, professor. Chase's virus is still active because you forgot to hit enter," Leo motioned to the cyber desk.

"Well, I probably didn't hit it because I was busy doing-" Douglas got cut off by you.

"Shut up! You worthless fools!" you exclaimed, as you hit the enter button.

You three looked around, seeing that no one was waking up. You then turned swiftly, grabbing Douglas' and Leo's collars, bringing them close to you.

"I swear if they end up dead, I will-" you got cut off my Chase gasping, causing yourself to let go of the two boys.

You then helped Chase up as S-1 spoke, "We're alive."

"And no one blew up," Bree added smiling.

As on cue, there as a loud 'pop', coming from the training area.

"The students in the training area! No!"

You all ran into the training area, seeing that it was filled with colorful balloons, and Adam popping them.

"Adam, what are you doing?" Bree asked.

"Trying to make you think that students were popping," Adam smiled sheepishly.

You just shook your head, "You sly dog!"

"Don't just stand there. Help me pop!" Adam smiled.

"Eh, why not?" Bree shrugged, as you all began to pop balloons.

"Okay. Alright, listen up!" Chase announced, "I know we're all having fun celebrating being alive and stuff, but your homework is due tomorrow."

"Only you could make being brought back to life a buzz-kill," Bree stated, as you all nodded on agreement.

You then threw a red balloon at Chase as you all began to pop balloons once again.

~~~~~
After popping all of the balloons; which was a lot. You all cleaned up the training area, picking up the scraps, and putting them inside the tarp, which Douglas had to get second since there was so much.
You, Leo, and the Davenport trio were in the Hydra-loop area, as Douglas walked in, holding two tarps.
"Got the tarp. I'm gonna go blow something something up," Douglas stated, as he walked away.
"Well I'm happy to say we're all virus free," Chase announced, as the students clapped and cheered.
"Speak for yourself. I caught something nasty," Adam stated, using a tissue, "This is the last time I buy used balloons."
"Yeah. No, it's not," Bree stated, as she, Adam, and Chase walked away.
"So, does this mean we can finally put our past behind us?" S-1 asked hopefully, looking at Leo.
"I guess. But just in case you decide to get all evil again, I'm rocking a bionic leg now," Leo said, as he put his leg on top of the cyber desk.
S-1 couldn't help but laugh, "I'm sorry. I want to be intimidated by you, but I can't."
"Look...lets jusy make a fresh start and see where it goes from there," Leo stated.
"Deal. I'm just glad I'm not getting those flashbacks anymore," S-1 smiled.
"Hey! Guys, look, I found two more," Adam ran into the Hydra-loop area.
He then stuck two green balloons up his nose and blew.
"Hang around here long enough and you'll have plenty of other horrifying memories to replace them with," Leo commented.
"I agree, I've been here for awhile, and lets just say the things I seen aren't pretty," you shook your head as S-1 laughed.
