Lab Rats vs. Mighty Med P.1
- Chapter Sixteen -
You were sleeping peacefully, until someone stated to bang on your capsule. You groggily woke up to see a fully awake, energetic Chase, smiling wildly.
You rolled your eyes as you stepped out yawning, rubbing your eyes tiredly, "What do you want Chase? This better be good because you just ruined my sleep, and if you woke me up for a stupid reason I swear I will electrified you," you spoke, as you took out your clock locket seeing it was five-twenty-five, "So, care to explain why you ruined my sleep?"
"I have very exciting news! C'mon let's go!" Chase exclaimed, as he took your hand and ran.
He was so energetic, like a child on Christmas who just couldn't contain their excitement on Christmas morning.
When you both arrived to the mentor's room, Chase screamed waking everyone up, "GUYS WAKE UP! WE DID IT, WE DID IT, WE DID IT!"
"WE WERE SLEEPING, WE WERE SLEEPING, WE WERE SLEEPING!" Leo mocked angrily, as Chase ran forward while Leo stood next to you.
"Chase, it's five-thirty in the morning. What's going on?" Bree asked.
"It took five years, but Mr. Davenport and I finally cracked it. We created a new technology that's gonna revolutionize the way the world gets it's energy," Chase explained with an excited yell.
"It's the science bros, working together to make a better world," you mumbled, as Leo nodded in agreement.
"Did you just wake us up to talk about science?" Adam questioned.
"I don't care where you hit him, just make it hurt," Bree commented.
"C'mon!" Chase exclaimed, running out.
~~~~~
"Here she is. The DavenChase energy transponder," Chase motioned to an object inside a glass case.
"So, uh, what does it do?" Bree questioned.
"It's kind of like Leo's energy transference ability. It wirelessly harnesses energy from sources around it, then stores it, so its the ultimate power source," Chase explained.
"Oh, cool. I've been looking for a new phone charger. Crack her open, and juice me up," Adam stated, holding up a phone.
"It's not a phone charger, Adam. It's a billion-dollar piece of technology," Mr. Davenport explained, "This little device packs enough punch to power an entire skyscraper."
"So what'll that get me, like, fifteen hours of talk time?" Adam asked.
"Right now, this is just a one-of-a-kind prototype, but soon the entire world will run on my technology," Mr. Davenport smiled.
"Uh, I think you mean our technology?" Chase motioned to him and himself.
"Yeah, my technology. Here let me show you how it works. For security reasons, we're keeping it in this impenetrable cube that can only be opened with mu retina scan," Mr. Davenport explained, as the cube scanned his eye.
As Mr. Davenport opened it, Leo began speaking, "Eye am impressed," Leo chuckled as you looked at him, "Get it. Cause he has to use his eye to open the thing."
"We get it," you stated flatly.
Mr. Davenport then cooed at the device as he set it down gently, as if he were holding a baby.
"Isn't it amazing?" Chase asked.
"It's not doing anything-"
"It's harvesting energy!" Chase exclaimed, cutting off Bree.
"Who knew he could get so worked up," you mumbled as Leo nodded.
"Sorry, but all I see is a phone charger. Does it come with a cute little carrying case?" Adam asked.
"Okay, Adam. Still think it's a phone charger? Go ahead, put your phone in there," Chase stated, clearly ticked off by Adam.
"Thank you. Don't mind if I do," Adam replied, as he set the phone down.
Sparks started to shoot out of the phone, as it flew and hit the wall.
"You still think it's a phone charger?" Chase asked.
"No. I'm just glad I tried it on your phone instead of mine," Adam smiled as he, Leo, and Bree ran out as Chase looked stunned.
"Oh, he got you good!" you laughed as Chase glared at you.
~~~~~
You stood behind Leo as Chase and Mr. Davenport were fixing themselves up quickly.
"Alright, guys, millions of people are online watching for the global webcast to start," Leo smiled.
"Hey wait, what about the sign?" Chase asked.
"Oh, right," Mr. Davenport then revealed the sign.
You noticed that part of Mr. Davenports name was in big bold letters as Chase's name was in tiny letters.
Chase ran over to the sign as he looked at Mr. Davenport, "Are you kidding me?!"
"I know. Your name was suppose to be much smaller," Mr. Davenport explained.
"Great. So once again, it's all about you," Chase pointed out.
"Chase, relax. I have no problem sharing the spotlight," Mr. Davenport assured.
"Guys we're on in three...two..."
"You're in my light, you're in my light," Mr. Davenport spoke, standing in front of Chase.
You rolled your eyes as you whispered to Leo, "He has a problem sharing the spotlight."
"Yes indeed," Leo agreed.
~~~~~
Once it was over, Chase motion you over as he followed Mr. Davenport to the mentor's room. You shook your head, not wanting to get involved but once again, Chase forced you to.
"That presentation went great," Mr. Davenport stated.
"I didn't even get to talk," Chase informed.
"Like I said, it went great," Mr. Davenport chuckled.
"Let's just get started on finding a company to mass produce the transponder," Chase stated.
"I already did it," Mr. Davenport smiled.
"What?" Chase asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. Soon as the presentation was over, I made one phone call, deal was done," Mr. Davenport explained.
"Why didn't you consult me?" Chase asked, as you stayed in the back, not wanting to get involved.
"Because if I consulted you, then I would have to listen to your opinions," Mr. Davenport replied.
You could read Chase's body language and facial expression, knowing that he was getting agitated.
"Well, did you at least go with a company that's environmentally conscious?" Chase asked.
"I considered that, and many, many other factors, and in the end. I went with the guy who paid the most ka-ching!" Mr. Davenport laughed as he walked away.
'This is it, you're both alone. Take him down, then go after that big fat headed egomaniac.'
'Don't do it, don't listen, it's wrong and you know it.'
You shook your head getting rid of the voices in your head, as you heard Chase growled in frustration.
"Can you believe that? He did all that stuff without me and we made this together. Does he not believe in me or have faith!" Chase paced the room.
You walked up to him as you spoke, "Chase, breath."
He sighed as you continued, "Look, I know you're upset. I can see it just by looking at you. You know, and I know that Mr. Davenport has a hard time staying away from the spotlight. Even if he didn't believe or have faith in you, which I highly doubt. I believe in you and that's all that matters."
Chase sighed nodding his head, "I guess you're right."
"Good, now get dressed," you stated as you started to head out.
"I am already dressed," he confirmed.
"I meant your mentors clothes," you stated as he smiled.
~~~~~
You were in the Hydra-loop, talking quietly with Chase as the Hydra-loop doors opened, revealing a tall man.
"Uh, excuse me. This is a restricted area. Can I help you?" Chase asked the tall man.
"I'm looking for Mr. Davenport. I represent a group of buyers and we'll like to make an offer for his energy transponder," the man explained.
"He's not here, and you're too late. He already made a deal," Chase informed, walking back over to the control panel.
"Wait. I saw you standing behind him on the webcast. Aren't you the other guy that created the transponder?" the man asked.
For some reason, you felt something off about the man, you usually got it off of people that you worked with in the past. The feeling felt familiar, but you couldn't place your finger on it.
"Well, I don't mean to brag, but yes, I am Chase. The most brilliant man in the world," Chase smiled.
"Well, if you don't mind me asking, who did he do the deal with?" the man asked.
"I couldn't tell you. I was left out of the negotiations. I don't know if you noticed, but my father's a bit of an egomaniac," Chase explained.
"I did notice that, lower-case Chase. I guess I'm wasting my time, kid. I used to dealing with the people who make the decisions," he stated as he walked towards the Hydra-loop.
You notice just by the way he was talking was bad news. The way he spoke was someone who wanted something, you know this because you have done the same.
"Wait. I had just as much to do with the transponder as he did. The prototype is still here," Chase explained.
"I'll double whatever offer you have," he spoke.
"I don't care about the money. I just want the transponder produced in an environmentally friendly way," Chase stated.
"Of course. That's our motto. Nature first...everything else second," he said, hesitating slightly, "Do we have a deal?" he held out his hand.
"You know what? Yes," Chase agreed as he shook his hand, "Yes, we do. And my dad is going to kill me," Chase smiled, "C'mon I'll show you."
Chase motioned the man to follow, as you walked beside him whispering lowly, "Are you sure we can trust him?"
"Yes, why do you ask?" Chase asked quietly.
"Just have a feeling is all," you replied.
Once you all arrived, you all entered seeing the prototype.
"There it is," Chase smiled.
"Wow, it's beautiful," the man complimented.
"Um, by the way. We never caught your name," Chase stated.
You then saw the man's demeanor change, "How rude of me. It's..."
He then shot green electric bolts at Chase, causing him to fly backwards. Before you could use your electrokinesis, the man quickly blasted you, causing you to fly back and land beside Chase with a grunt.
"The Incapacitator," he finished, before taking the prototype and leaving.
You laid there, slightly grunting in pain. As you were about to speak, Chase lifted a finger, "I already know what you're going to say, I told you so," he wheezed out.
"You know me so well," you replied.
You then slowly sat up, wincing in pain as you helped Chase sit up also.
"I'll call Mr. Davenport," you stated, taking out your phone.
After a few minutes, you hung up, "He's on his way," you informed, wincing again slightly as you held the side of your ribs.
"Are you okay?" Chase asked.
"I'm peachy. How about you?"
"I'm fine," he grunted out.
You then realized why the man seemed so off. Just by the way he spoke and the way he held his demeanor, the way it seemed so familiar was because he was bad. You knew this straight away because you've worked and done this so many times, it's why the feeling was so familiar.
Then Adam, Bree, Leo, and Mr. Davenport rushed inside.
"Chase, [Name]!" Bree exclaimed.
"What happened?" Leo asked, as they all ran over.
"I was showing the transponder to a potential buyer," Chase explained.
"You guys brought a complete stranger in here?" Mr. Davenport asked.
"I didn't, but the guy blasted us with some kind of energy force," you explained.
"Where's the transponder?" Mr. Davenport asked.
"He must've taken it," you informed, leaning against Adam.
"Great. Chase what were you thinking? And [Name] how could you go along with this?" Mr. Davenport asked.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe that you made a deal without me, so I was going to make a better one without you," Chase sighed, "[Name] had nothing to do with it, it was all me."
If your deal was to get knocked out and robbed, you did a bang up job," Adam replied, as he and Bree helped you and Chase up.
"We need to find the guy who did this," Leo stated.
"It wasn't just some guy. That energy blast wasn't human," Chase informed.
"What was he? Bionic? An android?" Adam asked as he gasped, "What if he's an evil spirit from a galaxy far away? We're no match for a space ghost!" Adam exclaimed.
"So we don't know who we're dealing with, or what's he's capable of," Bree stated, looking at Mr. Davenport.
"I'll contact the authorities. Get in your missions suits. This guy could still be on the island. Until further notice, everyone's on high alert," Mr. Davenport informed, as you all walked out.
~~~~~
After putting on your mission suit, you quickly checked your clock locket, checking the time as you entered the Hydra-loop area, seeing Adam talking to two kids. You quickly took notice that they didn't look familiar.
"Adam, who are they?" Chase questioned.
"These are our new students, Frank and, uh...I forgot the other guy's name," Adam answered.
"We don't have any new students," Bree stated, walking towards the two boys.
"We don't? Wait a minute," Adam then sniffed one of the boys shirts, "Aha! I should've known. That's Bob's jelly tuna shirt!"
"Look, I can explain everything, but Frank, you're probably do a better job, so..." the boy in red trailed off, motion to the one in the yellow.
"Who are you guys?" you asked, looking at the duo.
"They're intruders," Chase answered.
"Too bad. This one's kind of cute," Bree smirked looking at the boy in red.
You gave her a look as she continued, "As for as intruders go," Bree smiled nervously.
"I bet they're with the guy who stole the transponder. Where is he? Where's the transponder?" Chase asked, as you all walked forward.
"The transponder? No, no, no, no. Kaz was just-"
"Get him!" Adam yelled as another voice boomed, "Get away from them."
You all turned to see two men and a woman dressed in superhero suits.
"Tecton!"
"Gray Granite. Gamma Girl."
The two boys ran over to the people in suits.
"Guys, a surprise costume party? It's not even my birthday," Adam smiled.
"What's going on?" you and Bree asked in unison.
"I don't know," Chase answered.
"We've been tracing the Incapacitator. His infrared energy trail led us here," the man in the red suit explained.
Leo scoffed laughing, as he walked forward, "Look, super boy, I don't know what movie theater your mom thought she was dropping you off at, but you're in the wrong place," Leo stated, showing off his ability.
"He's got the energy transference. Just like the Incapacitator," the man in the red suit then blew a blast wave, causing you all to stumble back.
"Oh yeah? Two can play that game," Adam stated, as he blew a blast wave towards them.
"Yeah, he defiantly did not get that out of a vending machine," the boy in yellow stated.
You all then charged forward. You and Bree went towards the Gamma Girl as Adam charged the man in red, while Chase took on the rock man.
Bree fought the girl as you felt your body surging with electricity. You felt tingles run down your arms and into your fingertips, feeling the spark whiten your fingers. When the girl blasted Bree to the ground, she was about to blast you, but you blasted her, causing her to fall backwards.
You helped Bree up as Bree super sped around the girl, only to get blasted again. You lunged forward, fighting her in hand-to hand comeback. You took a swing, as she dodged and tried to blast you, but you quickly jumped out of the way.
She then got a direct hit, blasting you as you slid across the floor. Bree was still on the ground as she called out for help, "Adam. A little help!"
Adam used his heat vision to block the energy blast as she aimed at Bree. When the girl stumbled back, Bree kicked her. She spun around to face you as you smirked. You then pounced on her, taking her down, as you were about to blast her, the screen went on, showing Mr. Davenport.
"Guys help!"
You quickly got up and ran to the screen.
"Big D!"
"Get up here quick!" Mr. Davenport yelled.
"Who is that?" The man in the red suit asked.
"Our father," Bree answered.
Then you saw the Incapacitator standing behind Mr. Davenport.
"Who's that?" Adam asked.
"That's the guy who stole the transponder," Chase replied.
"That's the Incapacitator. You guys don't work for him?" The man in red asked.
"No," you answered.
"I am looking for a weekend gig. Is he hiring?" Adam asked.
"The Incapacitator is a villain. That's who these guys came to take down," one of the boys explained.
You all stared at him as he continued, "Oh, right, bionic heroes, Superheroes, Superheroes, bionic heroes. I probably should've done that before the battle, but I'm so glad I didn't," he smiled.
"Wait, so you guys are real superheroes?" Leo asked excitedly, "Like the ones in the comic book? And on my lunch box?"
You gave him a look as he continued, "Which I no longer use."
"Careful, your fanboy is showing," you muttered.
Adam then walked over to one of the superheroes, "Bro, this is so cool. It must be an honor for you to meet me."
"Uh, just so you know, I would've totally helped you if I could have," the boy in the red stated, walking over to Bree.
"It's okay. You're still cute," Bree poked his shoulder.
"Who, me?" he asked puzzled.
"Yeah, your little red shirt," Bree giggled as she continued to flirt.
"Let's go, lover girl!" Chase exclaimed, as you all looked at him, "We have to go help Mr. Davenport."
You all then ran to the living quarters.
~~~~~
When you all ran in, you saw that the Incapacitator leaning over Mr. Davenport.
"Don't move Incapacitator," the man in red, as you learned was Tecton.
"You're too late, Tecton. I already have what I need to make you and the entire world bow down at my feet," the Incapacitator held up the transponder, as green electricity started to shoot out of it.
You all cover your eyes, shielding away from the bright light.
"Take him down," Tecton ordered.
The superheroes went forward, only to be surrounded by a green vortex. The Incapacitator then lifted them up, and shot them through the roof.
"That's it! I got us into this mess. I'm gonna get us out," Chase stated, as he activated his laser bo.
"Chase-"
You got cut off by Mr. Davenport, "No, Chase. He's too powerful."
Chase ignored him as he ran forward, and hit the Incapacitator, as the Incapacitator blocked. Chase yelled as he got blown back.
"You!" you yelled, shooting electricity volts as the Incapacitator blocked, shooting you as you rolled out of the way.
"With this transponder, my energy will continue to grow. I've already taken down one of your so-called bionic heroes. Just imagine what I'm going to do to the rest of the world," the Incapacitator chuckled, as he ran out.
You were on your knees next to Adam as Mr. Davenport looked Chase over, "He's still alive, but he's fading."
"What do we do?" you and Leo asked in unison.
"I don't know. He fried Chase's entire bionic infrastructure. I don't think I have the equipment here to save him," Mr. Davenport explained.
"Don't worry, we can," the boy in red stated
"What?" Mr. Davenport asked, standing up.
"I'm Kaz and this is Oliver. We work in a place called Mighty Med. It's a hospital for superheroes. We deal with this kind of stuff all the time. We can save him," Kaz explained.
"Big D, we barely know them. Are you really considering this?" Leo asked.
"Leo, this is our chance to save him," you spoke.
"Trust me, we save heroes' lives everyday. I promise you. He'll be fine," Oliver assured.
You held Chase's head in your lap, as Bree stood and spoke, "Mr. Davenport what do we do?"
"Go. I'm not gonna risk his life," Mr. Davenport stated as you all helped Chase up, "I'll stay here and get the word out about the Incapacitator."
Adam hauled Chase onto his back as he spoke, "Okay, how are we gonna get him there?"
"Through a wormhole," Kaz explained.
"I know we're friends, but is this really the time to make fun of Chase's size?" Adam asked, as you hit his arm.
"I don't care what you have to do. Save my son," Mr. Davenport stated.
Then you all entered the wormhole as two voices consumed you.
'Let him die.'
'Save his life.'
