It's Called a Hustle
- Chapter Four -
You were sitting in a chair that was against the window, in the Hydra-loop area. You were reading as everyone else were out, enjoying the sun. You never liked people much, so you strained away from them.
As you read, you felt an intense gaze on you, as if it was burning a hole through your forehead. You continued to read, ignoring the intense gaze, until it became unbearable.
When you looked up, you saw Mr. Know-it-all looking at you.
"May I help you?" you asked, as you continued to read.
"Why are so quiet? Why not go out and socialize?"
"Because I don't want to," you replied, not straying your eyes away from the book.
Chase just looked at you, as you continued reading.
"You're up to something, aren't you?" Chase questioned.
Great, now you had someone already getting suspicious, and it had to be Mr. Intelligent.
"What makes you say that?" you asked curiously, as you set your book down.
"Well, for starters you're quiet, you went up to level expert whiten a week. You're ranked at the top, beating the other students at basically everything," Chase explained.
You rolled your eyes as you stood up, walking right up to him.
"Just because I'm better then the rest, does not make me suspicious. I think you're just jealous," you smirked, as Chase scoffed.
"I am not jealous, why would I be jealous of a student?" Chase crossed him arms.
"I don't know, maybe because I'm better then you," you grinned, looking up at him.
"Ha! Please, I know that I'm better then you. I'm a mentor, and you're a student," Chase pointed out.
"Just because I'm a student, doesn't make you better then me. If you're so full of yourself, battle me to a duel," you challenged.
"No, I'm not allowed to duel students, unless Mr. Davenport has a say so. Unless he says, then I'll battle you," Chase spoke.
"Oh, your one of those people who always follows the rules, right? Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes never breaks the rules, I get that. Well, I guess the rumors are true," you turned around, as a small smirk played on your lips.
"What rumors?" Chase asked puzzled.
"Oh, you didn't know? That you're a Fun Killer, the type who always follows the rules, and never breaks them, you know the usual," you shrugged, innocently.
"I am not a fun killer, nor do I always follow the rules. I'll have you know that I have broken rules before, I am your typical bad boy " Chase explained, crossing his arms.
You laughed mockingly as you spoke.
"Sure, you are. I'll believe it when I see it, if your such a 'bad boy', then you wouldn't have a problem facing me in a duel."
"I'll pass," Chase commented, as he made his way towards the training room.
"Wow, I guess that proves it. You are a fun killer who plays by the rules, what a shame."
You seen Chase halt, making you smirk knowing that you hit a nerve. Chase then twisted around to face you once more.
"Fine, you want a duel? You got one."
"Alright, but no bionics, we go hand-to-hand combat, deal?" you grinned, sticking your hand out.
Chase looked at your hand for a moment, before shaking your hand, agreeing.
"Alright, then. Let's head to the training area," you commented, as he followed you.
When you both entered, you put some distance in between you both. Chase quickly got into a fighting stance as you did the same. Chase gave a small nod, signaling that he was ready. You gave a nod also smirking.
You both then lunged towards one another at the same time. Chase threw a punch as you swiftly dodged, hitting him in the lower gut. You stood straight up, taking a swing as Chase dodged, knocking you down by your feet.
You landed with a grunt, as you quickly jumped up throwing jabs as he blocked. He also took jabs as you blocked them also. You studied his stance, calculating what his next moves were going to be. You then went to throw a jab, and as he blocked you kneed him in the stomach.
He grunted as he jabbed your ribs, he wasn't hitting too hard, nor too soft. You blocked his hands, swinging them around as you held him in an arm lock, with his hands now behind his back.
"You almost fight as well as a man," Chase spoke breathlessly.
"Funny, I was going to say the same thing about you," you chuckled.
He then brought his hands forward, slipping out of your arm lock. He quickly tossed you over his shoulder, as you landed on your back. You quickly got up and lifted your left leg to kick, only for Chase to garb a hold of your leg.
He grinned slightly as you smirked. As he held your left leg, you quickly jumped up, your right foot, colliding into his jaw. He took a step back as you stood up once more. You kicked him hard, but not too hard were you could dislocate his jaw.
He would just have a faint bruise, nothing too bad. You charged forward, pushing him against the wall. Before you could do a thing, Chase flipped you over so you were against the wall. You then kneed him in the gut again, as you pushed him backwards, making him stumble and fall on the floor.
This went on for awhile, none of you backing down. The fight got more intense, as you both started to hit a little harder. Both of your faces were coax with a layer of sweat, trying not to let the other win. You hand the upper hand now, and Chase knew that if he didn't do something, he'll be beaten.
As you made him stumble and fall backwards, he quickly jumped up, as he activated his laser bo.
"You're gonna fight me with a glow stick, now?" you chuckled humorlessly, as he stood into a fighting stance.
You looked to the side seeing two gray poles, that had a sharp end. You quickly grabbed the two and tossed one to Chase, who caught it swiftly.
"No bionics. You want to fight with your glow stick, use this instead," you gestured to the pole.
When Chase deactivated his laser bo, you both charged at one another, clashing poles. The sound echoed through the training area. You felt as fire was rushing through your veins, making your heart pump wildly.
You grew angry as Chase gained the upper hand. You have never been beaten before and you sure as hell weren't going to let Mr. Know-it-all win. You were gonna end this, and you were gonna end it now. With one quick swipe, you knocked the pole out of is hands. You then swiped his feet, making him fall.
You walked over to him, raising your pole at the center of his head.
'Do it, stab him and you'll have one taken down.'
'Don't do it, don't kill him, it's wrong.'
You snapped out of your daze, as you saw Chase looking up at you. His chest was rising and falling as he took deep breaths, trying to get oxygen back in his lungs. He looked up at you with slightly wide eyes.
Your breathing became ragged as you tried to get air into your lungs also. You then stepped aside as you tossed the pole, taking Chase's hand and bringing him up to stand.
"Wow, Chase! Who knew you could be beaten by a girl!"
You and Chase jumped back slightly, startled. You turned to see Adam, Bree, and Leo with the rest of the students. If you would've stabbed Chase, everyone would've witnessed it. You could've been caught, how did you not realize that they were there?
If you would've killed him, you would've failed the mission and have suffered many consequences. You were always watching your surroundings, how did you not hear them? It was a good thing you didn't kill Chase on the spot.
"We were just having a duel," Chase explained.
"And you've lost. I can do better. Wanna have a duel?" Adam asked, looking at you with hope gleaming in his eyes.
"Adam I wouldn't that, she's unpredictable and very good, she'll take you down," Chase warned.
"Please, I'm the strongest man in the world," Adam bragged.
"Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you," Chase walked to the side of the room, where the others were at.
"How bad do you think this is going to be?" Leo asked Bree, as they watched you and Adam get into a fighting stance.
"This will end very badly," Bree replied.
Adam then went to lung at you as you charged forward. As Adam ran, you slid on your knees, sliding through his legs. Before Adam had the chance to do anything, you kicked the back of his knees, making him buckle to the ground.
You then rolled him over with your foot, making him lay on his back, as you planted your foot to his chest.
Adam was lost for words.
"H-How, I-"
"It's called a hustle, sweetheart," you smirked.
"No, I can't go down like this. I've got a dream! A mission! A reason to live!" Adam cried out.
"Not anymore," you smirked, as you took your foot off his chest.
"Now, if you excuse me, I must get back to my book," you stated, as you walked out.
Adam got up and pouted as Chase snickered.
"Told you."
"Adam it's not the end of the world," Bree smiled.
Adam nodded as he spoke up.
"What's a hustle?"
Everyone just rolled their eyes, not even going to explain what it was.
