Chapter 11

[Edited]

After arguing with Ace for what felt like forever, he finally agreed to stop by a hotel. I refuse to sleep in a car with two boys while smelling rank. I point out a small inn, I doubt anyone would think we are here.

As soon as he parks, I get out and stretch my poor legs. I have been locked up in the car for hours. I think it's close to 2 A.M, I should be asleep by now but Ace insisted on driving as far as we can.

"I'll get the room, you two wait out here so I can make sure there is no one here wanting to kill us." Ace tells us and walks off before either of us could reply.

I lean against the car, looking up at the stars. I've always been fascinated by them, they calm me down in ways no one else can.

"How are you doing?" Mason asks me abruptly. I look over at him and see he is leaning against the car with his arms crossed against his chest.

I shrug my shoulders. I honestly don't know how I'm doing. This is all so crazy, I think he wants assurance though.

"I'm okay, how are you?" I give him a soft smile, and he looks up at the stars.

"I just want to hurry and get this shit over with. Mia should have never been involved." A pang of guilt hit me hard, making my knees weak. Ace keeps saying they want me, for God knows what. It is my fault she was taken, even if I don't know why or how.

"Me too Mas, me too." I move to give him a hug, but Ace comes out and motions us to come inside. I grab my bag from the car, I would really like to take a shower and try my best to wash off all my stress. Probably won't happen but it is worth a try.

When I walked into the inn, a bad feeling washes over me, like a warning. I brush it off, it's probably just the fact that I'm exhausted. The desk lady watches us all go past her, locking eyes with me before I quickly look away from her.

Ace told us he only got one room, what I didn't expect was how big it was. When I walked into the room, my eyes widened. There is a King-sized bed in the middle of the room, a twin is up against the far wall, and a huge couch next to a set of tables and chairs. The room is absolutely beautiful, with blue accents all over.

"Dude how much was this room?" Mason asks, jumping onto the bed with a sigh of relief.

"It was expensive but it should be worth it for the night I would say." He says chuckling. He looks back at me, making eye contact.

"You can have the first shower, you need it more than either of us." I'm not sure if this was a good or bad comment, but I'm pretty sure he is saying I look like shit.

I roll my eyes and walk over to the bathroom which is just as impressive as the room itself. It has a walk-in shower, and the fluffiest towels I have ever felt in my life. I look in the mirror and sigh. I look like absolute shit. Now I know why Ace let me take the first shower.

I rush my shower so I can jump in bed and sleep. When I get out of the bathroom, I expect the boys to be in bed, but instead they are arguing over what to watch. They act like brothers, but are two complete opposites.

"Give me the damn remote since you two are five-year old's who can't agree on anything." I scold them, grabbing the remote from their hands. "Go do something useful and order food." I demand Ace and his eyebrow raises.

"Who's been driving this whole time." He grunts, but does what I told him to do. I scroll through the tv channels and see nothing good. I decide to be a bitch and watch the cheesiest romance that's playing.

"You couldn't even pick something we could all watch you bitch." Mason pouts and I laugh hard.

"This is payback for stealing my seat and the AUX so bite my ass." I throw one of the many pillows that are on the bed at his face. I giggle when he looks like I stabbed him in the heart.

"Okay, food has been ordered. I'm surprised they do food at almost 3 in the morning." Ace says, plopping down on the bed next to Mason. I watch as he closes his eyes, and lays back with his arms under his head. For the first time, he looks relaxed. Ace is different from any other boy I have met, which hasn't been a lot.

After about 15 minutes, there is finally a knock on the door. There were countless times where I dozed off and Mason either hit my arm or kicked me.

Ace gets up and walks over to the door. Right before he opens the door, a loud boom sounds out and the door comes off its hinges. Before I know what's happening, Ace is knocked off his feet and there is a bright light, blinding me.

"Ace Hemoria and Adina Rose, you have been ordered to be killed under my hands. Surrender now and it will be painless, fight and you will die horrible deaths." A voice fills the room. I scream at Ace to get up as Mason takes cover behind the bed. I should have done the same but something tells me to stay and fight.

A hooded figure comes into the room, standing over Ace who is struggling to get up. The blast must have done more damage than I thought.

I stand still not knowing what to do, Ace didn't prepare me for any of this.

"Adina, run!" Ace barked at me, and I shook my head.

"No, we can't leave you!" He says a string of ugly words. I watch as he does a crazy move with his legs, taking the hooded person to the ground. Ace sends many punches to the guy, but it seems as if nothing is doing anything to the man.

He flips Ace over, making me scream. I need to help, I need to do something before Ace dies

"I see you pick the hard way." He snickers. Hearing his croaky laugh makes me sick to my stomach. Why is everyone trying to kill us? I can feel my anger rising, the room becomes extremely hot.

The man pulls out a dagger, making me scream at Ace to get him off. My skin starts tingling and I hear Mason say something but I don't understand it. I just focus on my anger. When I get mad, something always happens and right now I need something to happen.

"Adina, your hands!" Mason yells at me and I look down. Oh my god. My hands are on fire. I panic, but realize it's not harming me at all. I look behind me and see my fully grown wings. Not only are they black, but they are on fire. What the fuck is happening to me.

I look back at Ace and see him struggling to get the guy off him. I don't think, I just throw my hand out to the guy, hoping the fire will transfer onto him. The air around me is getting hotter and I can feel my energy draining.

"Get the fuck off him! You want me, right? Come and get me." I taunt the man, hoping he will come my way. I'm not sure what I will do, all I know is that I need him off Ace.

I focus as much as I can while the guy makes his way off Ace and to me. I let go. The fire makes its way off my hand and to the man I'm aiming at. I can see his eyes now that he is facing me. They are pure white, but full of terror when the fire reaches him. He doesn't burn, he just falls into a pile of ashes.

"Come on we have to go!" I hear someone yell but I'm too shocked to move or even focus on anything. The heat and tingles have faded, but I notice the room is on fire.

"Adina, look at me." Ace pulled my arm, forcing me to look at him. "We need to get out of here, don't be scared we are okay, but the room will collapse on us if we don't move." I simply nod my head as I let him pull me out of the room.

We all run out of the inn, going to the car. Before I get in, I look back. My eyes begin to water when I see the rest of the inn go up in flames. This isn't what I wanted. I wanted to help, not burn down the whole building.

"What the fuck was that?" Mason yelled, making me jump.

"That was an angel." Ace replied. I have no words, no thoughts. My hand was on fire and I used it to kill an angel. What the hell is my life?

As we drive away, I watch the flames burn and the smell of burning wood fills the air. There goes sleeping.
