(Joocie PoV)

I ran my finger across the crack on my cup, wincing as it started to sting. I needed a better alternative to tape. It obviously isn't working.

Meme would know what to do, I thought sadly. I was worried about him, and was almost certain that it was Laff that had done something to him.

But Laff was dead now. And who knows where Meme is? If he wasn't already being taken care of, he might be locked up somewhere starving to death.

I sighed, clenching my fists. I wasn't one to get quick to anger. But the thought of someone trying to hurt one of my best friends...

I didn't like that thought.

I tapped my finger on the counter, staring at my reflection in the window over the sink. Tired blue eyes stared back at me, sunken. I've been having trouble sleeping the past few days. I don't know why. I just try to lay down and sleep doesn't come.

I didn't see the glow until the blade was around my neck.

A whip with a blue, knifelike blade on the end seemed to appear out of nowhere, pressing its sharp end to my neck. I tried to yell, say anything, but was stopped by the figure's words:

"Scream, and I slit your throat."

I shallowed my breaths, trying to keep my throat away from the deadly blade held there. In the window I could only see the figure's eyes, white as snow glowing through a pall of thick darkness.

"Who are you?!" I demanded.

The figure let out a dark laugh. "Silly, silly Joocie. You know who I am. Why, we met formally not too long ago, did we not?"

Something about the way the figure talked... yes, it was familiar. The voice wasn't British, so Laff couldn't be back, even if he was somehow revived like Blaza was.

I couldn't see the figure's face, but somehow I knew he was frowning. "Hm. Disappointing."

"What do you want from me?" I questioned, my teeth clenching as the figure pressed the blade-whip closer to my neck.

"Enough questions," the figure growled, "Time to go join your friend."

A crack and a fierce pain in my head, and the darkness closed into my vision.
