𝕮oren did not think that he was a jealous man but Daario Naharis was testing his limits.
A map of Yunkai was spread out in front of them, on the table inside Daenerys' tent. He, Barristan Selmy, Jorah and Grey Worm stood around it to listen to Daario's grand plan on how to take over Yunkai.
"Where?" Daenerys turned to look at Daario, who pointed to a non-specific location on the map.
"There." Coren cocked an eyebrow, not seeing anything, before his muscles tensed once more as he watched Daario grabbing onto Daenerys' hand and guiding it to the location that he was referring to. "There, it's a back gate. My men use it when they visit Yunkai's bed slaves."
"Your men, but not you?" Jorah questioned, as Daario finally let go of Daenerys' hand to turn to Jorah. Coren stepped closer to the Targaryen woman, angling his body between the pair. He had yet to forgive the man for intruding into Daenerys' personal space and making her uncomfortable.
"I have no interest in slaves. A man cannot make love to property." Daario turned to smile at Daenerys, causing Coren to scoff and roll his eyes.
"Or maybe they threw you out because you were such a shit-talking, egoistical-"
"Coren." Daenerys hissed through gritted teeth, as Coren reluctantly stopped muttering curses about Daario under his breath.
"This is where we enter the city," Daario did not seem to have heard Coren's words. "Very few guards, they know me. They let me inside."
"We're not going to sneak an army through a back gate." Barristan pointed out, having been remarkably silent for the entire meeting.
"I kill the guards. I take your two best men and lead them through the back streets," Daario listed, as Coren's eyebrows lifted up and towards his hair, "which I know well, and open the front gates."
He turned to Coren, who was looking mightily unimpressed, before nodding at Grey Worm and Jorah. This just all sounded like an elaborate trap.
"Then comes the army. Once the walls are breached, the city will fall in hours."
"Or perhaps you'll lead Grey Worm and me to the slaughter, cutting the head off our army." Jorah pointed out. "The masters of Yunkai will pay you your fee and you won't have to split it three ways cause you've already slaughtered your partners."
"You have a very suspicious mind." Daario chuckled. "In my experience, only dishonest people think this way."
Jorah sighed and turned to Grey Worm.
"You command the Unsullied. What do you think?"
The commander looked a bit on edge, before he and Daenerys exchanged a few hushed words in High Valyrian. Coren tried to listen to them, but his High Valyrian was even worse than his Dothraki so he gave up after a few tries. He needed Daenerys to teach him how to speak the language.
"You leave tonight." Daenerys commanded, coming to a decision.
"Very good. We'll prepare." Daario seemed like he wanted to say something else, but Daenerys was already walking away. She motioned behind her, eyes narrowing at Coren, who padded after her dutifully. He knew that she wished to speak with him.
No words were spoken before they were far enough away from the group, heading towards the area that the dragons were kept.
"You seem in a rather snarky mood today." Daenerys pointed out as Coren pulled a face.
"I think Daario is far too flirtatious with someone who is far above his station and that he should remember his place and close his mouth." Daenerys rolled her eyes as Coren shrugged, grinning slightly.
"Is this your truthful opinion or are you jealous?" Daenerys cut to the point, rolling her eyes slightly at the man.
"Jealous of him?" Coren let out a bark of laughter. "That would be like asking me if I was worse looking than Jorah! I have nothing to be worried about there."
"You have to stop insulting Jorah to make yourself feel better." Daenerys prodded his chest as Coren grinned.
"Why should I do that? It is the truth."
"Sometimes I struggle to work out whether you like him or not."
"I respect him and am thankful that he helped to raise me and train me but he has also made comments that I believe are unfitting." Coren shrugged, walking backwards so he could continue to watch Daenerys' face. "And I speak the truth."
"We have gotten off track. You cannot keep threatening Daario Naharis."
"If I must."
"You are a jealous man." Daenerys pointed out, reaching to shove him, though Coren merely laughed and grabbed a hold of her, yanking her towards him. "Coren, there could be people."
"Last I checked, you did not like Daario Naharis." Coren spun them, so Daenerys was completely hidden behind him.
She could not find it in herself to scold him, knowing that he was right, merely grinning and blushing.
"You prefer me." He whispered, his eyes darting around, before he leant down to steal a kiss from her.
"Coren, we are in public." Daenerys whispered, giggling as if she were young once more and listening to her handmaids talk of who they liked or vaguely romantic things that their partners had once done for them. "Stop it."
Coren reluctantly let go of her, keeping his pinky finger interlocked with hers as they reached the area that the dragons resided in. There were no guards, no one there to see them, and it was peaceful.
"Anyway, I do not trust men with long hair and Falkor agrees." Coren turned to grin at her, as Falkor padded over, tilting his chin up to rest his entire head across Coren's body so the man could scratch the dragon's chin.
"Did you not have long hair at one point?" Daenerys pointed out.
"I cut it. You have also never seen it." Coren replied. "And we all know just how handsome I would be with long hair."
"And humble too." Daenerys rolled her eyes, before tugging on one of his curls gently, as she called the other three dragons over to go through some basic training.
"As soon as I have long hair, it would be attractive."
"Sure."

Coren entered Daenerys' command tent hours later, once the raid was already under way. He was feeling significantly more relaxed having spent time with Falkor, trained and eaten. It also helped that Daario was not there.
"Coren," Daenerys turned to look at him, watching as he plucked a few grapes from the table and sank down onto a chair near to her and Missandei. "What have you been doing?"
"Training." Coren grinned that familiar trouble making grin that had Daenerys rolling her eyes. She knew exactly what he was thinking. Coren was most likely praying that Daario was killed brutally in the siege of Yunkai.
"There's been no news still," Daenerys told the man. "How long does it take to save a city?"
They fell into silence once more, before a commotion outside stopped them all. Coren and Barristan stood up, both of them reaching for their swords, before Jorah and Grey Worm appeared in the room.
"It was just as you said. They did not believe until it was too late," Jorah panted, looking at Daenerys. "Their slave soldiers threw down their spears and surrendered."
Daenerys grinned, before it fell.
"And Daario Naharis?" Coren turned to look at Daenerys, who shot him a look that said she had to keep up appearances, before sighing as Daario appeared in the doorway.
He was unfortunately still alive.
Daario carried the Yunkai flag over his shoulder, dropping to one knee in front of Coren's queen.
"The city is yours, my queen."
Daenerys smiled at that as there were calls for a celebration, people breathing sighs of relief. They had done it with minimum casualty and the plan had worked.
Coren turned to Missadei and Grey Worm, grinning as the pair shot him nervous smiles back.
"Well done." He patted Grey Worm's back. "You must tell me how you managed it. Missandei, wine?"
"I do not know if I can have some." Missandei looked between Daenerys, who was speaking with Jorah and Ser Barristan, and then back to Coren. "The Queen might need my help."
"Trust me, she will be fine and she will not mind that you are having wine." Coren waved her off.
"I will go and fetch it." Missandei began to stand, but Coren was already moving.
"I've got legs, I've got it." He chuckled, before pouring the wine carefully, handing a glass to Missandei first, before handing one to Grey Worm. The final glass he dropped into Daenerys' hand.
"Wine?"
"Congratulations for the success of the raid." Coren shrugged at Daenerys, who chuckled.
"Is there a glass for me?" Jorah questioned.
"Get it yourself, old man." Coren dodged the smack that was aimed for his head, cackling as he retreated away from Daario Naharis, who had slithered over to the Khaleesi's side. He, instead, listened to Grey Worm tell him about the siege before regaling them with stories from the times that they were with the Dothraki.
Their talks went long into the night, before people slowly began to drop off to rest up, as Coren shook Jorah off of him.
"Where are you going?" Jorah's eyes narrowed as he noticed Coren retreating to Daenerys' side. "Your tent is not that direction."
"And I am still the Khaleesi's personal guard." Coren repeated back in the same annoyed tone. "I have to make sure that she gets back to her tent alright first and that she is safe. I need to check it considering Daario Naharis broke into it with ease."
He rolled his eyes, turning to face Daenerys, who shot him a calming look.
"Good night Jorah. Do not fall into a ditch." Coren waved, before following after Daenerys. "What a shame."
"What?" Daenerys hummed.
"Daario is not dead." He did not dodge the smack she aimed at his arm, merely grinning. "What? I could kill him for you."
"No, he has proven himself useful."
"Yeah, useful for target practice."
"Stop it." She rolled her eyes, hiding her smirk as they reached her tent.
"Oh, no guards on the door." Coren feigned confusion.
"I guess you will just have to stay and protect me." Daenerys smiled innocently as Coren chuckled. He followed after her, stretching his body out, before letting her enter his arms.
"And you say that I am the meddlesome one?" He laughed at that, before kissing her softly. She tasted of wine and honey, her smile soft and violet eyes a little hazy and tired. "You look like you need to sleep."
"Kiss me again."
"Who am I to deny you?" Coren followed her lips, kissing her softly once more as Daenerys sank further into his body, as if they were made to fit against one another. "Congratulations, Daenerys."
She grinned, before kissing him once more.
"I suppose this is call for celebration." Daenerys grinned, holding his hand in hers. "Yes?"
"I knew you had ulterior motives for getting me alone." Coren shook his head.
"Coren."
"I am shutting up."
Hiya,
I couldn't resist it. Coren and Dany like making bad decisions but they're too enamoured with each other to care. I also love that Coren just hates Daario, wants him dead and is just a hater. I don't think you understand how much I love them.
Let me know what you think,
Love Li xx
