Nine. Alice
I didn't know what had happen after becoming unconscious. My last memory was witnessing the wolves submerging out of the woods, teeth bared in showing defiance. Hearing hisses of voices, in hushed conversation, pine wood and dampened dog fur after rain enters my nostrils.
" I can hear you talking. You're not quiet as you may want to believe." I snark, sitting up right, changing my posture and position. " Oh my head. I have to stop going down like this. Third time is the charm as the saying goes."
Sam goes to speak first, an authoritative resonance in how he talks. " Malachi. That is your name? How are you aware of who we are. What do you know? And you are not exactly human yourself." I truely had to give him the respect here, exerting his alpha dominance. wanting answers. He thinks it will work on me, staring as though I am the enemy in his mind. 'He needs to honestly relax'
" You are asking too many questions at once. Okay, one. Correct, I am not human. that is an obvious observation. And two, I know enough when it comes to you being wolf shifters. Because of the legends and just basic grasping of knowledge." I am aware of being laid on a brown, worn couch having my head resting on a floral decorative pillow. I take the cloth of cotton, hugging it to my stomach.
" then what are you? Don't tell us are a bloodsucker too." a wolf, I didn't recognise, glares. Hatred seethes in how he is speaking. 'Paul. His name is Paul Lahote.' The same grating, grave, voice recalls to me. venom in it how he spoke. " don't be an idiot, Paul. If he was a Leech- vampire, his eyes would be gold. like the Cullens." Embry scoffs. " Besides, he had fucking wings! WINGS! Blood coloured red wings! those came straight from out of the bible." all of this talking was giving me a migraine. I rub the centre of my cranium.
I had not made the time to face the wolves. I could feel Paul's confrontational, aggravated hostility in his glare. Metaphorically it could burn a hole in my skull from how intense it feels. I turn, not hesitating to raise a defying eye brow. Staring straight down in his brown earth coloured eyes. My mouth twitches wanting to smirk when he pauses on the spot, body rigid. 'That is what I thought. Puppy.'
" Paul. You didn't. No." Sam, firmly, says.
" you imprinted on him? On vampire boy? Paul. No. Oh Jake isn't going to be thrilled knowing you just basically made a claim on his boy." Embry howls in a laugh, moving his head back, chest rattling. " Holy shit." Imprinting. the term was not familiar to me.
" Shut it, Call. You know I can't control who or when it happens." Paul growls. But eyes never allowing themselves to turn or tear away from mine.
" That is enough, boys. Here you go, Malachi. I apologize for the rowdiness of these boys." A woman, in her early to middle twenties, comes over from the kitchen section of the house I am inside. her face is scarred, three aligned claw markings incised over her left eye, the silk raven coloured hair covering above and half of her injury. she gave a warm, benign grin. " my name is Emily. You must be the vampire boy." a plate is place on the coffee table in front of where I sat. Blueberry muffins, watermelon and pear. 'Yummy. fruit'
" and you are the wolf woman." I, wittily, reply. She giggles, finding me amusing. " Yes I am. Well, technically I am engaged to one. I'm Sam's fiancé."
" thank you, for this. Emily." I say, in a genuine tone, motioning to the plate. I could smell a new wolf join, the only one who was not here is Jacob. He comes striding in, wearing no shirt. his bare chest out on show. But he did not acknowledge me, instead turning; Leering at Paul. Eyes full of exasperated anger. That couldn't be a good sign.
" you imprinted on Malachi. how could you?! Out of all." Embry held his arms in place, to further keep him from getting in an altercation and start a fight, he begins convulsing. Wanting to into it with Paul. I had an instinct, of wanting to stand. Following that gut inclination I arise, from being seated.
" That is enough, Jacob. You know, out of everyone, imprinting is futile when it comes to choosing when or who it happens to. It was out of his control. There is nothing you can do, now, but come to terms Malachi is Paul's imprint." There is the word, again. " You know the rule, the law."
" Jacob. Jake. Let's go for a walk. Just me, and.. you." I needed to do anything, something, to ease the tension in the house. I didn't want to be the cause of a fight breaking out, specially considering one fact. They are wolves, each size of a clydesdale horse. I wanted to be considerate to Emily, who was watching with a scowl at their boys and how they are behaving.
" you have two wolves fighting over you. Who would have known a leech lover had that much power to do that." Emily slaps the boy who was talking, pieces and crumbs of a blueberry muffin is spat out. " don't speak with your mouth full of food, Jared." She chides, then becomes instantaneously jovial; happy when Sam goes to where she stands. He leaves kisses on Emily's scarred side of her face, adoringly.
" just.. let me go find a shirt. Then we can talk." Jacob mutters. I watch him shake off embry's hold, then goes somewhere inside the house.

The cawing of seagulls, bustling of waves hitting the sand, and smell of the salty ocean welcome me walking on first beach shoreline. Jacob is following behind, not too far, there the only sound being our boots crunching on sand.
" You are a werewolf. Or should I correct, wolf shifter. That is definitely something you don't see everyday. Or in reality." But seriously I cannot speak. I am the devil's son. I shouldn't be here, but bygones be bygones. A whale breeches in the horizon, I could see water pray from its spout.
" last time I checked. A few members of the tribe have the gene. A bloodsucker moves into town and the fever sets in." The revelation, everything was starting to come in play here. It made perfect sense, how it happen. Laurent and Victoria came back to forks, of course. Their appearance triggered and activated Jacobs wolf. " Mono." I say, ironically.
" So. You are what? An Angel of death?" Jake laughs, but sees I wasn't joining. How do I tell my child hood friend I am the devils son, prince of hell. He trusts me with his truth, it's only fair; right I too tell him. 'Well it'll come out eventually.'
" an Angel. But not of death. I am ... an Angel. Jake. And demon." Now that I have aired out my identity, exposing the truth, air around us becomes thick. the temperature chilled. He swallows, his laryngeal muscle moves. unsure how to react or respond. I sigh, moving back five steps before I allow for my wings to show. In the corner of my eye, it was visible of how each wing was differently appearing in formation. My left is red, skeletal, like muscle tissue. Right, cloud white and feathery.
" close your mouth, Jacob. You look like a fish that is out of water."
The amulet glows, indicating Adonis could feel my change in emotion;energy. Flames come out from the surface of the sand, and there he comes from out of the fiery inferno of eternal fire. Jake is on guard, coming to me and stands half way in front of my body. Despite his shock. " Don't worry, Jacob. He is friend, not a foe."
" Isabella is becoming worried, master Kai. She inform me she sense there was something fallacious; wrong concerning you. She couldn't feel your conscious in the connection you share. And I was sent to find where you are. here." Adonis addresses. " I too was concerned." He, additional to his worry, adds.
" what is he referring to, about you and Bella? Kai. Connection? Is there anything that needs to be known, which you are not saying or the pack should know of." He shot out questions, that I wasn't really enthusiastic on explaining or discussing. I wasn't overly penchant; fond of how he was talking. " No and no, Jacob. That is nothing you, nor the pack, should care to affiliate yourselves by. It is only between Bella and I, and no one else." It wasn't meant to come across, discordant; Harsh.
But he locks his jaw, tensing both cheeks. Like obeying a command. " I will be coming home now, Adonis."

Third person point of view
Alice had given up the possibility of over having a vision, reading Malachi's future was render null and empty. A nefarious, unnatural force was preventing her. it is sinister, brutal. something she wish to never have seen again, But she needed to know, selfish as she sound, if Malachi was doing okay. There was no hope, a bitter reality she could have disagree on edwards choice to move. the damage is irreversible. She missed the sweet boy she met.
Dread enters her body, before a vision suddenly becomes her. Malachi and Victoria are face to face, his face is twist, contorted in a depraved and malicious smile.
Eyes mirroring the bowls of hell. They are each tingling to fight. " I was searching for your dearly loved Cullens. Only to have Laurent inform me they left you, alone. So I sent for him to see if you were safe. But I have not heard from him, you wouldn't have. Have you, Malachi?".
That was an obvious attempt of manipulation. Malachi knew better, playing in her hands and using her own tactic.
" actually, I have seen Laurent recently. he was nice enough to inform of me of your intention to kill me. Is that right? Come on, now. Vicky, you don't wish to kill me? Really. I am certain we can come to alliance of a kind." There is no single animal in the forest that creates a noise, two predators stalk in a semi circle. One an angel of hell, the second a vampire thirsty for revenge.
" I am sure we can, Angel. It is an easy offer, your life for my James."
Malachi eyes begin flicker, red overlaps blue. Victoria, although afraid which was rare— nothing ever scaring her until now, staring down death in the face, smiles; sickly sweet.
" So we are at an agreement then. Don't fret, I will make you death quick. And agonising." using her swift speed, Victoria rushes, in a flurry of red, to Malachi. but he counter dodges her debilitated; weak attempt. He smirks, broadly. His hand raises, the flames return. Roaring in power.
" on second thought, the truth is better then lies. You won't be seeing Laurent, because I am the one to send him to the place you will be joining him. Including that homicidal mate of yours, James is. Hell, where I sent them. And Killed."
Victoria cries out in an indistinguishable rage. Murder, vengeance, and death of the Angel that stood ready to send her to hell ignites anger that leads her sprinting, avoiding the mystical fire that goes past her. just inches off, missing her hair. The retuning sound of wolf snarls, and a russet red wolf collides in to Victoria before she could attack.
But Alice, the shifters blocking her vision creating a grey area, loses access being forced to exit. That is the first solid, longest, perception of a vision she had for Malachi.
'I can't take this anymore. I need to see Him.'

Malachi's perspective
Victoria manage to escape. I had her there, in the place I wanted. But Jacob, the wolves, had intervene hearing our conversation. Jake drove me home to the swan residence, I didn't need the assistance or surveillance. He insisted. Inside of the truck Billy owned, the heat radiating off Jacob was enough to warm and regulate my body. " I am jealous of how you never get cold."
My hands create friction. I may be a celestial, but the human side was surely showing. 'Thanks mom'. " Come closer. I don't bite." Jacob gave a wolfish grin, at his joke. I gave the same laugh as woody gave the squeaking shark in Toys Story. " ah ha. Very funny. I get it because of you being a wolf. I am laughing."
He chuckles. " I am serious. One hundred and eight degrees over here, I don't want you to get a cold."
I gave an overly exaggerate sigh. " Fine." I begin moving my legs over to Jake, taking note of how he had an arm resting on the truck seat. This was all too cliche, I knew that move from movies where the protagonist is in love with a girl, or boy, and is trying to subtly show it. I wanted to speak up, tell Jake that nothing could happen.
I didn't miss Embry say 'Jacob's boy'.
" It must be better knowing who, what, I am. I doubt you weren't unaware, though. You probably knew before I would."
The engine was powered down, the truck sat in park in front of Bella and Charlie's house. Jacob intently stares, the same frustration revealing itself. It was like he was trying, desperate, to find something. That wasn't.
" But..." I say above a soft whisper. " what is the matter, Jake?".
" it comes easy. Too easy. For me. It's different, you know, for each Newley phased wolf. It makes me feel... less human than the other boys. It scares me senselessly. I am going to disappear, become this mindless animal. And possibly hurt you, o-or Bella." This broke my heart, having Jake sound unsure and not confident enough in his own identity. I was not quite certain how to console Jacob, going on instinct and reaching over and gave an embrace.
In the time of intimacy, he takes a breathe in. " Not that you need me, to remind and say this. I am certain you have heard it. You won't.. lose yourself. Jacob. Okay? I will be here and around for a long while to remind and show you. Just how much faith I have. I won't allow it."
My words held nothing but the truth. I couldn't have Jake have a mentality he is a monster. There are no true monsters in the world. 'Actually the exception, only one. James. He has perished though.' That much I know and want to remain ignorant to believe.
Jacob inches his lips to mine, I blink to reality. " Jake. No. Don't do this. Nothing can, or won't, ever happen." Much as the hatred was clear for Edward, it still is an open wound too fresh. The love was still there simmering at the entrance I wish would disperse. I hated it. " I just need to say it, before you get the idea a relationship with me is in the bounds of a possibility." 'I need to get out of the truck.'
" Thank you, for taking me back here. To Charlie's. We'll talk again tomorrow. Or I will message you."
I unlock the trucks passenger side, pushing the door. Repugnant smell of a vampire is outside, Jacob smell it in unison with I.
" Stop. There is a vampire. Out there." This alerts me. Victoria couldn't possibly be back, the pack chased her to the bordering county. 'Bella. Charlie' then I notice a car I couldn't have imagine seeing again.
Carlisle's Mercedes. " That is Doctor Cullen's car. That could only mean."
I am out of the car before Jake could restart the engine. " Malachi, Malachi. Stop. This could be a trap."
He follows until he makes a grab for my tricep. His skin is radiating heat that should burn, but i am unwavering in prying my arm away. " if a Cullen is back here, this is their territory. I can't protect you, the treaty states and says we defend only on our land. That isn't possible here, if even one Cullen is back." I understood his desire of wanting to protect me, but he undermines the capabilities I own. 'Does he forget I am an Angel. In the hierarchy of power, I overpower each individual vampire and werewolf. Shifter.' I sound supercilious and arrogant.
" I am going inside, Jacob. You don't need to be here. Goodbye."
I rush forward, using speed to get to the door fast. Opening and entering the house, there is darkness in the house. It was past nine pm, Bella was most certainly in her bed slumbering. My reflexes make me throw out a hand, and a feminine gasp echoes as I use a telekinetic force I didn't know I possess, to nail the vampire to the wall. There was Alice. Staring with uncertainty, but relief. " Alice?"
" Malachi. You.. you have changed."
" Why did you return, Alice. Answer me." I still had my hand, outstretch. " I saw a v-vision, after so many months. Of you fighting Victoria. there it went grey, I could only see patches of grey after. I- I had to see you, after these months, Malachi. I am so, so, sorry I allow ed- him to decide for us."
'Bella is awakening. Release Alice.' I listen to what is being said in my head. Releasing Alice, she fastens the white cloth of her shirt. " Kai. What is going on down the- Alice? You are back. I didn't hear you enter the house." She scratches the hair on her scalp. Nose scrunching in audible disgust, " What is that horrid dog smell coming from?".
" That would be me. I was hugging Jacob. He is.. well, it's not my place to say. You can figure it out, you have a treaty with his Kind. Alice." She shows visible shock. " Werewolf? Werewolves are not the company you want to keep, Malachi."
" wait. Jacob is a werewolf? I am too tired for this. I will make hot chocolate, for you and I. This is a conversation that needs me to have energy." Bella glides down the staircase, shuffling to the area of the house where the kitchen is. I move to where the green couch is, kicking up my feet on the table. " Speak for yourself." Jacob suddenly speaks, I throw my head around to face him. " I had to see you, and.. Bella, were safe."
" Well, I am not going to hurt her or Malachi."
'Oh the irony in your words, Alice. Irony.'
" Too late for that." I bluntly exclaim. Her body flinches, at the reality of my words. " I didn't.. what to leave. I tried reasoning with Edward, he wouldn't Listen. To what I had to say." Alice explains, softly. My nails dug inside the skin breaking the tender tissue, blood is drawn.
" You are bleeding." She gasps, taking the body part of mine. Jacob grips her wrist. Alice hisses. " Unhand me, Mutt."
" No, you wouldn't. But I am talking and referring about to the other bloodsuckers that went after Malachi because of you."
" and Laurent too, but I killed him. He is just another soul in the deepest deepest part, depths of hell. I don't even think either are. Victoria was hard to get." I adjust my legs, standing up. " she got away before I could get my hands on her." It seems this was news to Alice, she shows slight disturbance. Not at my confession but confusion of how or why she couldn't see the nomads hell bent on ending my life. My days on earth. " I couldn't see either. It makes all the sense, now, I can't see past you or your pack of Mutts in my visions."
Bella came back, two mugs of steaming coca.
" Do not get me angry, it'll NOT be nice." Jake, in a warning, bites back. " Enough. Hey, enough. Bella doesn't need to see or witness this. Step back, Jake. You too, Alice. Now." They listen backing off from sizing each other.
" Here." Bella says, to me, fatigued and tired. Handing the mug. " I will give you three space to speak." I had to guarantee Alice would not leave again. I take one stride in stepping, my hand attaching to her forearm.
" you are not leaving. Again."
" I will be outside. And will come back in, when you take the dog out. Kai- sorry, Malachi." She corrects not using the nickname I gave permission to those I call friends. She is on the thinnest of ice. " Okay."
" how many of the cullens are here? Is he...?" Jake begins asking his questions that I knew he wanted to ask. And be heard. " well, are the rest of the family coming back? Him included. And for how long are they planning to stay." Jacob is on my heels, as I enter the kitchen. The green paint that is on each surface welcoming me. Bella remain seated in the lounging room.
" No. no and that is something that I don't know, well... of. Alice can stay as long as she would like. You can't stop her. Now if that is all you wish to know, you have your report for Samuel now. Run along back to him."
There is a quiet still. Before Jake decides to talk, again. " I have done it again. Breaking the promises I've made." There had to be a resolve in this war. Werewolf verse vampire.
" This doesn't need to continue, Jake." He shakes his head, torn. Conflict battling in his eyes. " It has to." Jake comes close, our heads are just an inch apart in diameter, gliding a hand to my ear. " don't, Jacob. You know where I stand."
He mumbles in Latin. A phrase. Stay with me forever.
Then just as he goes to close the distance, to kiss me, the shrill of the landline phone rings out. Jacob heaves, his chest rising then drops. " swan residence." His whole demeanour bristles, anger seethes in his voice. " He is not here, he is arranging a funeral." Then the phone call is ended, briskly placing it back. 'Who was that?'
" what. Who was that, Jake?".
" Always in the way." His whole body begins rattling, anger in his veins. Jacob's eyes go wild, his body stiffens, starts and trembling in the way that precedes a wolf-morph. He is on the edge of phasing.
" Who. Was. That. Jake. Who was speaking on the phone, I need know." He was backing off and away. His whole face is contorted.
" Please step away from me. Kai."
" Kai. Kai! It's Edward. Edward .. he think you're dead."
Then it all clicks. It was him on the phone line. Jacob hung up on him, how could I have not heard his voice. " He is going to the Volturi. He wants to die, too."
I couldn't let him believe I was dead, much as I hate him. I didn't need him to be selfish. There is a new found determination in me, I was going to save Edward.
Alice squeezes both of my arms.
" We are going to Italy."
