14 | monsters

i see your monsters,

i see your pain.

i see through all the constructed lies;

you told me it was a ride-and-die.

even while i didn't agree

you only smiled and said

"i'll be alright."

i see the true colors

when i grow older

now, finally,

i hear the familiar beep of monitors

the cascade of your lungs being blown apart

the force being applied

and the screams i let out as i stared at you

as tears streamed down my cheeks

you looked at me one last time

and said "i'll be alright".

and somehow, i managed to smile

through my pain

and your pain

although i'd never understand.

although it was the last time

i ever heard those words

it's able to bring me

comfort for your another life

where the monsters no longer roam

and everything is peaceful and free.

– a/n: this book (angel wings) TOTALLY slipped my mind i'm sorry! i was rlly busy working on my other book (fleeting decisions), so go check it out! i like it a lot and am satisfied with it!

i reread (when breath becomes air) by paul kalathini today and it's really touching, and there's a scene in (fleeting decisions) where someone dies, so i decided to write this poem; tw: somewhat sad and death.

hopefully you enjoy this poem! i'll try to upload more (i mean it this time) so ty for supporting me, especially Imil_In_Space and moonrayys!
