The White Orbs
Harry
"Harry, I have great news." Hermione says, smiling across the table. "I've found a stash of these."
She pulls out a handful of blue and white orbs, all swirling with a thick fog that reminded his strongly of his third year with Divination. Harry took one from the palm o her hand and studied it before handing it back.
"What are they?"
Hermione squeals. "Follow me, I'll show you."
She led him up the flights of stairs and into their room, where she shut the door behind them. "Don't want anyone watching." She mutters. Then she turns to the open space in the middle of the floor and grabs Harry's hand.
"Right, so when I say jump, the two of us are going to jump into a blue light on the floor, alright?"
Harry stared at her for a moment, puzzled. "But there isn't a blue light on the floor."
Hermione grins. "But there will be."
She takes out a small satchel that Harry hadn't noticed looped across her shoulders and starts to dig in side looking for something. Finally she pulls out a single white orb, identical to the ones she had shown him in the Great Hall.
Harry remembered feeling it, noticing that it was smooth and cold, like glass. He watched, shocked, as she through it onto the floor. The orb shatters the moment it hits the wood floor and it's contents spill out and onto the floor. The fog turns to smoke, which swirls around until it forms a large white light on their floor, and Hermione squeezes his hand.
"Are you ready?" She asks.
Harry considers his chances for a moment. He had no idea what these orbs were, and where this blue light would take them, but he had a feeling Hermione did, and whatever it was made her thrilled. He stared at her for a moment before nodding, kissing her cheek before preparing to jump. But Hermione doesn't move.
"You're worried about jumping in here, aren't you?" She asks.
Harry smiles. "I trust you, so it doesn't matter if I'm worried."
She nods. "I would never do anything to make you upset Harry. I promise, you'll like this."
Harry nodded and gripped her hand a little tighter. And then they jump.
__________
They land on the concrete. Harry was confused for a moment, because it felt like he hadn't seen concrete roads in ages. He glanced around and then saw a car- and it was driving straight towards him and Hermione.
He jumped to his feet, ready to pull both of them out of the street. But he wasn't fast enough. In his haste, he tripped and fell out of the car's path, which ran straight... through Hermione?
Harry got to his feet to see Hermione sitting there, perfectly fine. When the glanced at the car, they found that there was a man getting out, shivering and talking about buying a new ventilation system. Harry looked at her. If the car went through Hermione... the presence of a ghost always made the people around them shiver.
"Hermione... are we ghosts?" He asks, looking at his hands and feet. He looked no different, and neither did Hermione. They weren't transparent. But Hermione nodded.
"Yeah. We're temporarily ghosts. I found them and asked if I could use the orbs... they make you a ghost for 24 hours! Imagine Harry... we can see our kids again!"
Harry was overjoyed with happiness at the thought of seeing their children.
"Well, what are we waiting for?"
