Chapter 3

Schedules need to be followed and kept up to date. You follow it to keep order to your day and to your life. Keeping a schedule allows you to get activities done throughout the day, meet clients on time and to simply be proficient. Not once have I gone off track, and I never planned on starting.

Yet here I am, Alonso clinging to my arm tightly as I speed-walk our way through the busy City of Vancouver. Once I get to a secluded alleyway I pull Alonso a few feet in until we are hidden in the shadows. I have no time to mess about and cloak us, I need to be quick if I want to follow this gut feeling and keep on track. Once we are hidden in the shadows I pull us both through a void, directing us to the hidden layer of the city. The layer that contains what humans believe to be myths, stories, fantasies. It is like a blanket that lays over the town, hidden from the human's eye. It allows the 'supernatural' kind as they call them, to be able to roam free in their natural forms.

The blanket over the world was placed a few decades ago by a powerful Warlock, around the time humans became a little more observant and questioned the strange sightings of unknown creatures roaming around. They were afraid of the unknown and caused havoc to destroy it before their fear took over. There was a handful of human family-lines that had no issue with our kind. They tried to vouch for us, explain how we meant no harm. Of course, those who went against the feared were questioned and presumed to be witches. Seriously? It was a silly time which had led to us having to cloak our presence in order to save the humans from doing a number in their pants.

As Alonso and I pass through the void, the atmosphere changes drastically. The air becomes easier to breathe in, the sky drifts from a bright blue sky to a swirling emerald green with the sun shining high, emitting green rays onto the bustling streets. Different creatures strolling by, not in any rush. Proficient, on a schedule, never late. That is how my district is run. Yet here I am, grabbing Alonso by the hand again as I quickly pull us out of the alley and drag him into the slow-paced crowd. In an instant, they part like a wave and allow us to pass through with ease, but I can tell they are startled. This behaviour is unheard of in this part of town and for their leader, protector, rule enforcer, to be the one running through the streets with another districts leader in tow, while I repeat for him to keep up must quite a surprise.

After turning down street after street, rushing to get to Christopher's restaurant, Alonso eventually pulls me roughly by the hand and causes me to stumble back towards him. After I catch myself from falling due to the abrupt stop, I look at him in disbelief and open my mouth to question him, tell him we need to keep moving but I realise no words come out except for long panting breathes. As I try to catch my breath, Alonso raises an eyebrow at me before shaking his head and releasing my hand to place his together, fidgeting with his fingers and pulling at his knuckles. A nervous habit he is known to have.

"I... I have no idea what has got into you so suddenly, my Brother, b-but you are not thinking straight. Look around you, look at your people. We have not arrived here more than five minutes and your little panicking show has caused havoc in your district. Y-you are pushing your stress onto them, now look at them, they are lost. They need your calmness and collected nature to maintain balance." He looks at me with wide eyes before a silly smile takes over his features and he says in a low, teasing voice "Being a-awkward and stressed is my department, stop stealing my vibe, Á!"

I cannot help but leave out a breathless chuckle at this and place my hands on my hips as I finally start to calm myself and catch my breath. Looking around I notice how correct Alonso is, my people are looking at me wearily while checking their phones or watches, noticing the time before panicking and starting to rush as they notice their tardiness from being distracted by me. I also notice a small group of nosey creatures have followed us, probably wanting to find out the cause of my abnormal behaviour. Shaking my head slightly I close my eyes and take a deep breath before broadcasting a mind-message apology to all creatures in Artístico, for my behaviour and to excuse all those who were running late due to my little my show.

You may be wondering why such a small act can cause such disruption, but when you live years to aeons in the same environment, under a strict structure, the smallest change as such could cause havoc. And in the back of my mind, I had a feeling that this was only the beginning as that gut-clenching feeling came back full force almost winding me.

"I do apologise, for not explaining and also for manhandling you, dragging you through the city... It is just... This feeling I have... I feel as though I must meet with Christopher and discuss this as soon as possible" I tell him as I try to understand the feeling myself.

Alonso stops his fidgeting to give me an odd look as he takes my appearance in. He is silent for a moment before a small knowing small covers his features and he gives a small nod. "I understand, more than you know. I think you forget that Christopher is my Twin Flame. I can simply take us to his location in an instant if you are in such a hurry to get there. One of the perks we have."

I stare at him with wide eyes. Since I usually do not care much for the knowledge behind Twin Flames, I do not know much of what happens regarding finding them or the aftermath of completing the bond. I know Alonso has discussed this with me before, but never have I paid much attention when the topic was brought up. Yet now, for unknown reasons, maybe just to satisfy this feeling to get to the location quicker, I am quite intrigued to know more. That is it. I simply want to stay on schedule and not delay my time. But, although I wanted to say yes and ask my dear brother to take us there immediately so that no more time is wasted, I found myself responding "What other perks are there, with a Twin Flame?"

A large smile plasters itself on my brother's delicate face as he tries to cover the shock as his eyebrows also raise up towards his hairline in surprise. To be quite honest, he looks a little bit freaky and possessed right now and I instantly scowled myself in my mind for asking such a ridiculous question. Nevertheless, Alonso answers with an excited chirp to his voice.

"Oh, my Brother, there is quite a few! And I do believe that it varies between partners. I could stand here and talk for days on the perks of having a Twin Flame. They are simply wonderful. The love we share is the number one perk for me, it makes you feel whole and lightheaded." Yep. Should have stayed quiet. "The connection you both share is so deep that you can feel how they feel, see what they see. Should you both ever get into an argument or have self-doubts on your relationship, it wipes all worries away. This is especially useful for me, it erases any conflicting thoughts regarding how Christopher may feel about me when I feel that I'm at my worst. I can see how he looks at me through his own eyes and sense the strong emotions pouring out of him as he does. That is how I know that Christopher's love goes beyond one that I could ever imagine. He is my everything, Ángel!"

Alonso looks like a boy who was just given the largest present on Christmas day along with the biggest slice of cake. He is the definition of happiness right now. Eyes sparkling accompanied by a smile so large that it actually makes me uncomfortable as I subconsciously take a step back. On top of that, he got quite side-tracked by his response. I expected a response regarding perks similar to that of transporting yourself to their location, not a recap on how Christopher feels about him.

Regardless, I find myself smiling at how happy Alonso is right now after that little speech. Even if I do not believe in the connections between Twin Flames, I care about how my brothers feel. Their wellbeing. Their mental state. So if Christopher is able to put such a smile on my brother's face, then I have no complaints regarding their relationship. My brother's happiness gives me happiness. And I couldn't be happier for Alonso.

Taking a step forward towards him, I place my hand on his shoulder gently so I don't startle him, and give a small smile. "My dear brother, I am happy he makes you feel as so." I glide my hand down from his shoulder, down along his arm until I reach his hand. Clasping his equally sized one with mine. "Shall we?"

His glazed over, sparkling eyes snap back to me and he keeps me a sheepish smile, probably shy of his non-stuttering rant. Nodding his head, he tightens the grip I have placed on his hand and pulls us through a void, colours swirling around us as we move from one location to another. One minute we were standing in the middle of a street, tall buildings surrounding us, next moment we in an extravagant looking lobby. From the outside of this building which is black painted with a simple bold sign, you would expect the inside to be simple, plain, but it is nothing close. The ceiling goes as high as one can imagine, a sober colour scheme covering the walls and furniture. Darkly wooded chairs, tables, cabinets placed here and there. Dark creme marbled walls and low-lit lights shining upon them. In the middle is a low hanging candle chandelier that is quite the opposite of the entire room. It is colourful, vibrant, covered with unique flowers.

Alonso's deep sigh brings me out of my daze of looking around. Of course, I have been to this establishment many of times before, but it never fails to take my breath away. A close friend of mine, Fránk, was Christopher's interior designer when he decided to open up his own restaurant. I assisted with his plans and it is one of the proudest buildings in my area thus far.

Looking at my brother, I notice a small frown has taken place upon his features as he looks around. I tug at his hand gently to gain his attention and give him a questioning look as to what is wrong. He bites his lip before answering me. "Um, well... Usually, you see, I... I would end up a few feet away from where he stands? Not too close to be all up in his personal space, of course! He usually gets a sensation to say that I am on my way when I transport to him. But... He... Um, well... He blocked me, it seems, f-far enough to have me arrive in his lobby rather than his location. I... uh..." He looks at me wearily before continuing with "I am guessing he may be in a... a meeting?"

All I find myself doing in response is gazing at my younger brother with an emotionless face. Questions flood their way through my mind as I wonder why my brothers supposedly Twin Flame would deny him access to his location. But as I stare in Alonso's direction some more, he starts to get more anxious and starts to fidget more than usual. He knows something, I am sure of it. He knows who he is in a meeting with and would rather not tell me. He is hiding something from his sweet, caring older brother. Me.

Squinting my eyes a little at him I turn to face him fully, taking his face between my two hands. "Who is he in a meeting with, my dear, dear brother? Tell me, would you? Please?" Eyes widening as I give him my best puppy dog face, his complexion takes on a red undertone and his eyes start to dart around, avoiding my gaze.

"I... I, uh... Don't believe he made it very clear as to who he was meeting, an old friend I believe... N-no, uh... one important." He stutters rather quickly. Outsiders are not allowed into our districts without the leader's go ahead. From what I am aware of, no new visitors were brought to my attention, at least none with any connection to Christopher. I know of everyone who is in my area, visitors and all, and why they are here. No one goes past without my approval. This is similar in all other districts appointed to my brothers, so Alonso knows this. And as he stutters those words, stating that Christopher did not make it clear, I know he is avoiding lying to me but also trying to dodge telling the truth. Alonso is a terrible liar, he feels too guilty and it shows, the smell of it pouring from his pours and surrounding those around him, just like right now.

All I have to do is raise my arched eyebrow and he crumbles.

"S-Samael, Samael Garrison is his name."
