Start of the Mission
It's been 10 years since the battle of Shadow Feather. A battle between Angels and Shadow Demons. Not a crazy thing to see; Angels and Demons fighting eachother. This fight though, it changed mine and my friend's lives. We don't know for the best, but lets just say we're not allowed back. I'm Star, an Angel. I'm the only Angel in my group. The rest are Shadow Demons. There's Jack, Sparrow, Surgeonm and Drake. Jack was the leader of the group, but I changed that. I honestly don't know how I feel about them anymore, and I think this story will show you why. Now to explain things more, Shadow Demons are one of the more dangerous demons to any other creature. They corrupt and kill others, turning into one of their own. They follow their victoms and wait until they end their own life. That is when they win and gain another. Now lets get this story going. It all started a year before the battle of Shadow Feather, and I was put on a scout mission. My mission was to gain information about the Shadow Demon's plans. From the start, I was not thrilled. Shadow Demons hate Angels, not surprising, but they will kill us on sight. For the mission, I had to dye my hair black, and wear red contacts. I even had to wear baggy clothes over my wings to try and hide them. It was easy to wear baggy clothes because most Shadow Demons were kids and that was the last thing that they were wearing. In my opinion, not my style. After a week of figuring out what I was going to do, I was off. I walked through the portal in the communication hub, teleporting to a random spot in the Shadow Demon kingdom. It sent me in a random alleyway, I guess that's a good thing so Demons aren't looking at me right away. The smell and heat hit me hard. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I poked my head out of the alleyway, finding myself in a market place. What surprised me more was that the Demons were actually acting civil with eachother. We were told that they were always fighting with eachother and there was never a dul moment. I looked down the market, spoting a diner a few doors down. I doubt it was actually a diner, but it was a start. I emerged from the alleyway, making my way towards the diner. My nerves were tense; I didn't want to get caught right away, but I don't think any demons were looking at me, as far as I knew. I had to push past a could demons, them not wanting to get out of the way. When I got to the diner, I immediately spotted a bar at the back of the diner. There were a couple of tables here and there; some full of Shadow Demons eating and drinking. I walked up towards the bar area, sitting down next to another Shadow Demon who had a sniper rifle on their back. They were a royal sniper. *Wonder what he's doing all the way out here? I'm a bit of a ways from the castle, and he doesn't show any signs of having wings.* Another demon walked up in front of me from behind the bar, drying off a cup with a rag in his hands. "What do you want?" His voice was raspy, like he's been smoking all of his life. "I don't know. I'm new here." I said, hoping it would be enough. The demon rasied an eyebrow at me, but quickly shrugged it off. He flung the rag over his shoulder and then reached with his new free hand under the counter. A second later he pulls out a menu and hands it to me. The menu was small, the front of it was food and the back was beer and wine.*I don't think I can even eat any other this without it killing me.* "Get her the eggs and wings." The demon beside me spoke out. "Oh. No, I'm okay." I protested, looking up from the menu and over at him. "My treat. Anything for a newbie." They shot back. I started to get nervous. *What is eggs and wings?* I watched as the demon behind the bar walked into the back, leaving me alone with the demon sitting next to me. I looked back over at the sniper in the cover of my eye, watching him take a swig of what looked like to be beer. *It's too early to be drinking that.. Wait. Does he have nail polish on?* "So. What are you doing here?" The sniper asked, taking another swig of his beer. "W-what?" I asked, tensing up in my seat. He laughed, sending a chill down my spine. "Taking on the dumb approach, huh?" He looked over at me, letting me see his eyes. They were white, there wasn't even a pupil. "You have the smell of an Angel all over you." I tensed up, looking around the diner to see if anyone had heard him; but there was no one there. *Where did everyone go?* He quickly grabbed my wrist, pulling me out of my seat and then pinning my back on the bar counter. I yelped, only to be shut up by a dagger being pointed at my throat. I froze, looking the demon in the eyes. "So what now? You going to kill me?" I spat, not moving my gaze away from him. A chuckle escaped his throat, the dagger slowly moving away from my throat. "Nah. I don't like to kill my prey right away. I like to see them run first." His eyes slowly started to grow a red pupil. He let go of me, moving to the side. He gestured towards the front door with his dagger. *Does he want me to run? Is he letting me go? Either way, I need to get out of here.* I took my chancem and ran for it. I slammed the doors open and ran into the marketplace. Demon's heads darted towards me, confusion covering their faces. I pushed past demons, not wanting to look behind me. I heard bullets shoot past me, one after another. *Are there two snipers shooting at me? I can't think of that right now. I have to get somewhere safe and out of this hell hole.* The demons were going by so fast, I couldn't tell what was what. Out of nowhere, I was tackled into one of the alleyways. I flung my arms around, only to get pinned up against the wall. I shook my head, looking up to see another demon. They had two different colored eyes, one being red and the other being a faint green. They had ripped up clothes, their shaggy black hair going past their shoulders. They had big sharp wings that stretched almost as big as mine. "Damn. Jack found a cute one." They growled, holding my chin steady with his thumb and index finger. "W-who are you?" I stuttered, trying to get away. "I'm Surgeon. A Royal Guard. I'm a good friend of Jack." He smirked, running his hand through my hair. "Nice hair dye. Needs to be a bit darker though." "Get your hands off of me." I spat, nudging his hand away. "Surgeon, you can't have all the fun. I want to play too." A deep voice called out. Surgeon and I looked over to see a tall demon standing in the alleyway, a sniper hanging on his back just like the demon from before; but that wasn't the first one. They slowly walked over to us, leaning down to look at me. They had faint blue eyes, and light gray hair that only went to his ears. They had a couple of scars on the face, mainly on their lips. He wore a long cloak going down to his feet. "You're no fun Drake." Surgeon said. He looked behind the tall demon and then behind himself. "Where's Sparrow?" "Up here lovelies!" A higher pitch voice called out. We all looked up, seeing a smaller demon on top of one of the buildings. They quickly jumped down, landing behind Surgeon. "Oh! Do we have another play toy?" They had gray eyes, but there were scars all over them. They had faint red hair with a shaved undercut. They wore an oversized hoodie with ripped up sleeves. "I am no one's toy." I spat, still trying to get out of Surgeon's grip. They all laughed, I watched as Sparrow crawled closer to me, quickly pulling a dagger to my throat. "Well now you are. Or else we get to kill you." I froze, looking around as much as I could. "Where's the first one?" "Right here sweetheart." I looked in the corner of my eye towards where Drake was before, seeing the demon from before hiding in the shadows. "Did you really think I would let you go?" I glared at him, watching him move closer to us. "If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm Jack, and you're ours now. And if you fight back, we get to kill you. No questions asked." Sparrow pulled his dagger away from my neck, allowing me to breath. Without me noticing, Drake pulled out a long smoke pipe. He took a long whiff of it, and walked closer to me. After I noticed what he had he puffed the smoke into my face. The smoke filled my lungs. The world slowly started to fade; my body felt weak and dropped into Surgeon's arms. "Awe. No fair! I wanted to carry her." Sparrow cried, walking around the group as they carried me away. *I have no idea where I'm going. I just hope I don't fail my mission.*
