Movement 9
The door slammed open, it practically broke off its hinges. (Y/n) let out a short scream of shock, but the male in front just turned with a huge grin on his face.
"Speak of the Angel-chan!~"
Licht stood there, and he looked more angered than you have seen him regularly. His fists clenched and teeth clenched as several veins popped on his head. His sharp eyes glaring at the male in front of her with fury. Licht shot forward harshly kicking the male away from (Y/n) and across the room. He impacted the wall hard enough to leave a dent, groaning as he fell to the floor. Licht pulled him up by his hair glaring daggers.
"You're crossing lines shit rat. I'll kill you!" He yelled in his face only making the male smirk at him.
"Extra angry today are we Angel-chan?" He asked playfully, the smug smile twitching upon the male's lips. The look and statement made Licht seethe, he didn't even hesitate to kick him again.
"Licht-tan aren't you being too violent in front out guest?" The male continued to tease.
"Licht-san?" And she followed with a soft call of his name. It caused Licht to freeze mid kick with his eyes widened slightly. She looked at him, confusion showing from the expression of your face. But he couldn't overlook the slight fear she showed from what she had experienced earlier; mixing with the confusion, it caused a bad pang to expose itself in his chest. Licht disliked it. Not to mention the one who caused it, was the one being he hated more in the tight grip of his hand. The very one giving a very playful, mischievous grin right now.
"What's...who's that?" You asked. Your voice sounded strangely calm. Licht had no reasonable explanation to tell you so he stayed silent while he tried to think. His let his grip let go, but he clenched his fist getting tighter and tighter not even facing you. Too lost in thought to hear your footsteps getting closer, it was not until you kneeled at Lawless that he snapped out of his stupor.
She still seemed too calm, as she checked over Lawless twitching on the floor. Her head turned to Licht, her eyes just screaming confusion to him. His eyes glaring down at her since his temper had broken.
"Licht-san what's going on?" She asked softly. Licht didn't say anything, he couldn't say anything as he glared into her stern gaze. Her gaze didn't waver no matter how hard he glared.
The door opened revealing Kranz, "Hey what-" He paused as he saw (Y/n), a very angry Licht, and Lawless twitching on the floor. He only sighed as he rubbed his temple gingerly with his fingers.
"Oh dear. It seems I was too careless." He mumbled looking nervously at Licht and (Y/n). (Y/n) raised a brow, opening her mouth to ask Kranz what was happening, only for a gasp to escape her when Licht grabbed her wrist and started tugging her from the room. Kranz only gave a sigh and a disappointed look as he went over to Lawless.
"L-Licht-san!" (Y/n) stuttered as she tripped over her own feet, just as Licht stopped his fast pace. His tight grip still clasped her wrist, and (Y/n) could feel just how angry he felt from it. It only made her more confused. She grabbed Licht's wrist that was on top of hers, and she could feel him tense up. He glanced behind, and then turned fully facing her with a hard glare, but a pensive expression.
"Seriously, please tell me. What's going on?" She asked once more except a little more stern in her tone.
"I wish I could tell you." Licht finally said.
"But, I'm not going to. It's something you shouldn't get involved in." He added his tone getting darker. (Y/n) caught upon it, and stood frozen in her place as they stared each other down. She could tell, even if he sounded harsh. There was something fearful in his tone.
"Something I don't want you to get involved in." He continued as his gaze started softening.
It took a few moments to process before (Y/n) nodded, "Alright, but could you at least tell me. Who was that you just violently kicked back there?" She asked looking back at the room.
"That was Hyde."
"EH HYDE?! HOW?!" She exclaimed as she heard the statement come seriously from Licht.
"(Y/n), have you heard of the stories relating to vampires?"
"Eh?"
"Do you believe that vampires...demons exist?" He asked looking you straight in the eyes. His voice became dangerously quieter as he leaned in close. She gulped as she saw the eerie calmness, yet danger he imposed with that question. He was being extremely serious.
"I mean...I have never seen one. But that doesn't deny the possibility that they exist." (Y/n) said mulling it over, and choosing her words carefully.
"Are you saying-"
Licht's sharp glare but tiny nod cut off her question. His eyes subtly glanced to the room you were just in before. After a moment of thought, it suddenly came to you.
"Ehhh does that mean Hyde is one too?!" You exclaimed in shock.
"Yes. He's one of those demons." Licht's tone became laced with disgust at the end. It made (Y/n) furrow her brows.
"(Y/n)." Licht grabbed her by the shoulders in a hard grip once again looking at her in the eyes. (Y/n) could not help herself to the tiny blush that appeared on her cheeks from the contact. His gaze with his metallic eyes was just so intense.
"I'm not revealing anymore. This is not your territory to tread, and for you to stay out of." His words were harsh, cold but (Y/n) picked up something else from his words. Knowing Licht, he meant it in a concerned way.
"A-Alright...I'm sure it's a pretty big secret."
(Y/n) paused for a moment, "But, that doesn't mean we should stay separated right?" (Y/n) asked keeping a warm smile on her face. Licht blinked his eyes a couple of times, while (Y/n) tilted her head, waiting for his response.
His chest felt tight, because...he did felt the need to separate from her. Especially now, when she had seen the one thing he didn't want her to. But, she made it very hard.
His mouth opened, and spoke out instinctively, even surprising himself, "No." One simple word, that neither broke their bond, and brightened her look.
"Yay!" She cheered, raising her hands in the air.
"Oh?" The ring from her cellphone caught the attention of both of them. His eyes narrowed again as he peeked at the glowing screen.
"Ah, sorry." She apologized looking a little embarrassed.
"No, is it that guy again?" He remembered that doctor guy, who he felt was a little off.
"Hm.." She hummed, and pressed the answer button. Licht stuffed his hands in pockets and walked off a short distance to give her privacy. Also giving him a chance to reflect on himself, mostly about his answer. Why couldn't he say what he wanted to, to answer her question. Someone so innocent, could potentially get hurt when they're not careful. Internally, Licht hated the thought of (Y/n) getting hurt because of the danger he involved himself in. It made him angry enough to try and eradicate all the demons that stood before him. His temper began rising again at the thought.
He heard the sound of her footsteps approaching, which became a sign to calm himself. Once again he faced her, only to see a solemn look on her face. To him, a big change to how she was earlier.
"(Y/n)?" He called to her, and she blinked at him. Only to break out a short happy expression, but it didn't look genuine.
"Aha sorry about that Licht-san." She apologized with a nervous giggle attached.
"Stop apologizing...what's wrong?" He asked.
"Eh?"
"You seem a lot less cheery. What's wrong?" He noted and asked again with a little more force.
"Oh, it's nothing." She said simply.
"You're lying." He called her out on her statement and her body froze. Her eyes looking around nervously, and her fingers fidgeting gave away to her lie.
"Did that Doctor, make you feel uncomfortable again?" He asked out of the blue. To be honest the question surprised him as much as it did her. Where did it come from?
"...No." She said hesitantly.
"Can we...not talk about it?" She asked, sounding a lot more low-spirited. Licht became even more curious.
"Fine." He responded, he knew he had to respect boundaries. The two of them stayed in an awkward silence for a while afterwards.
"Um..." She spoke up again, now looking more shy than usual. Her eyes avoided his and she looked to the side. The minuscule blush decorated her face.
"Licht-san, if I could...can I..." She breathed in and closed her eyes like she was about to say something risky.
"Listen..to your piano playing again?" She asked, her words came out fast, but Licht still picked up on it. He raised a brow, his impassive eyes giving a bored look.
"Why? You heard me play earlier." He stated.
She only fidgeted more standing frozen in her place.
"Well you were practicing, and you seemed really stressed. And I wanted to hear you play when you weren't focused, when you were free. So you can play freely without any worries...I'm sorry I'm not making sense." She began stuttering horribly and her voice varied in volumes as she spoke. The way she looked so flustered, Licht almost thought she looked...cute.
He sighed making her stop, "Just calm down first idiot. And follow me." He said and started walking. She blinked but obeyed anyway. He lead her down the hall back to the grand hall with the grand piano. She hesitantly walked up to the stage, her nervousness following his confidence. She sat a distance away on one of the chairs watching him through inquiring but excited eyes. Licht glared at her which made her jump slightly.
"Come closer." He demanded, she paused but then obediently came closer. He stared at her giving her signs to come closer until she was up on the stage.
"Um-"
"Just sit down and listen." He said, he could've put a nicer way to say it. But now he became focused on the keys in front of him. His posture straight, and everything focused. He peeked over to her before he began, for the first time he could actually feel his fingers tremble slightly. He willed himself to be calm, the next second the room became engulfed in chords. The soft music played from the instrument. He moved and played at the same time, getting lost in the story he was giving. (Y/n) sat in awe, as she heard everything. From each note, to each chord, to each diminuendo, and to each crescendo she heard everything. Just then Licht stopped, the tune was short, but it was more than (Y/n) had expected.
"It's not much, but I'm hoping to play this for my next concert." He said, his breath hitched when he saw her. She was crying. Tears over flowering non stop from her glassy eyes. She wiped them with her sleeve as soon as he caught her. Why was she crying he wondered, did he do something?
"What's with...Why are you crying?"
"Your music, is so pretty." She said with a shaky voice.
"You're crying because it's pretty?" He asked. He became confused. He knew music had a powerful effect on people, and he was witnessing it. But to this degree?
"Yes..I'm sorry. It's nothing, I'm just touched is all." She breathed in and out to calm herself down.
"What piece was that?" She asked as she finally had stopped the tears.
"I can't tell you. It's...a secret." He said and that made her laugh out loud.
"Another one?"
"Well...I wouldn't want to find out all the secrets of your pieces before a concert. That might ruin the effect right?"
"I guess."
She nodded standing up from her spot and gazing at the keys. Her finger inquisitively poking at the instrument while Licht just observed her. Her gaze shifted to that of a star struck child, and she ever so slightly pressed a key.
"What are you doing?" Licht finally asked, finding the scene a little odd but amusing at the same time.
"I just never been next to a piano this big before. I've always wanted to learn...I just never had the chance." (Y/n) said, her voice had the lacing of something serene and yet something heavyhearted.
"Why's that?" He asked to only receive a small giggle from her.
"Well Licht-san, you're not the only one with secrets." She said playfully and poked his forehead.
His face scowled, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing~"
She once again pressed a key gently sighing contently as the sound produced itself.
"Then...would you want to learn something?" He asked. Her surprised eyes looked at him, and he slightly panicked inside when she did.
"Just something small." He said not even looking at her eyes. She had the biggest smile appear on her face, as if her others weren't big enough.
"You'll teach me?" She asked very eager. He nodded slightly, for the first time looking shy. But thankfully for him no one noticed. He moved slightly over on the bench and beckoned her to sit down. She did so, very thrilled looking at the keys. Only one second did she noticed the close proximity between him and herself. That reason for the heavy blush to reappear on (Y/n)'s face, and for the lightest shade of pink to come across Licht's.
"Just spread your fingers across the keys to the notes C, E, and G. That will make a C chord."
"L-Like this?"
"No idiot, G is over here."
"Oh."
"But still...Not bad for your first try."
The two of them stayed together, Licht calmly watching (Y/n) try to play while she struggled. Although they both were not frustrated, if anything (Y/n) was having the time of her life and Licht looked impassive as ever, but still a lot les angry. They sat and embraced the sound of the chords coming from the large instrument, echoing across the room. Their attention to occupied to notice Kranz and Lawless spying on them.
"They are so cute." Kranz commented his hand holding his cheek.
"Hm.." Lawless hummed observing the both of them, with a look of steel.
"I feel...that she's hiding something." He mumbled.
Kranz blinked, "What?"
"Nothing~ I can't wait to tease Licht-tan about his little crush later." He said giving a wide grin.
"I would be worried of what Licht will do to you later after that stunt you pulled." Kranz said and sighed tiredly. Only to receive a laugh from Lawless.
"But...at least Licht's enjoying himself." Kranz said looking upon Licht, who for once no longer had a glare on his face.
-------------------------------------------
"That was fun!" (Y/n) exclaimed cheering once more with glee. It surprised her that Licht decided to accompany her home, but she wasn't complaining. She liked his company.
"You sucked at playing the minor chords." Licht said bluntly, making her choke on air.
"H-Hey, it was my first time playing give me a break." She stammered in her argument, her ears picked up a very quiet sound from Licht that sounded like a chuckle.
"I guess." He mumbled staring off ahead. (Y/n) glanced at him again before looking down at her feet shyly.
"M-Maybe we can do this again sometime?"
Licht became silent for a moment but nodded, "Maybe."
(Y/n)'s breath hitched at his answer and she could feel the pace of her heart quicken in her chest. She grinned excited, and overall very captivated. Her mind cheering over and over, now her face was entirely red. Not only her but Licht as well, who only had a lot more willpower to show his cheerfulness externally. Once they reached the apartment complex, she bowed to him before parting ways.
"I hope, at least, that today I relieved your stress level."
"Huh?" Licht became confused, she wanted to reduce his stress levels?
"Yeah. I had a lot of fun..and I was hoping to have helped you with the stress. I really hope I did."
Licht could for once feel his heart skip, and he gulped before he spoke out. With the tiniest blush decorating his face.
"It did, and I...liked..it." He stopped in between his words getting very awkward. He couldn't even have the courage to direct eye contact. But he did glance seeing the bright smile on her face. He saw her nodded her head up and down briskly.
"I would like to."
"You would?"
She nodded again only becoming more timid and stiff. They both looked so awkward, but they could deal with it.
"Then we should." Licht spoke out first, very slowly. (Y/n) agreed with him. For once both of them could hear their hearts beating quickly as the air became drowned in a silence.
"Then. I'll see you." Once more Licht gave an awkward parting of words before walking off. (Y/n) closed her door, her hand on the wooden surface as she stayed in the moment of bliss.
If only...her body wasn't cursed to feel the moment of bliss a bit more. She knew she felt off once she began the journey home and she knew it began happening again. She looked down onto her leg seeing the big bruise, and she could feel herself getting light headed already.
"Crap.." She mumbled breathing heavily. She managed to trudge herself all the way to the couch before collapsing in a heat of heavy pants and fatigue.
"I didn't want it to start up again." She gave a helpless laugh as she laid down vulnerable. Her hand had gotten her cellphone and had clutched it in a weak grip.
"I guess I'm just unlucky. See Licht-san, you're not the only one with a secret." She mumbled, her fatigue took her over, and the dizziness made her pass out on the couch. Her dog barked next to her, also producing whimpering sounds.
The cell had fallen to the ground with a loud tap, the screen illuminated showing a message.
